The 16 Hottest New Restaurants in Milwaukee, Wisconsin

"Oprah’s alleged favorite thin-crust Chicago pizza joint has opened a northern outpost in the town where she spent much of her childhood. A sprawling sports bar on a decidedly college-y strip of Water Street might not inspire thoughts of gastronomic greatness, but with its deep Chicago pedigree — the original was founded by Rudy Malnati Jr. in 1991, and regularly lands on Chicagoan lists of both best tavern-style and deep-dish pizza — Pizano’s instantly shoulders itself into the conversation for best pies in town." - Todd Lazarski

Great pizza. I favor the Chicago style deep dish. We sat at the bar-nice bar with many TV's. We got the Rudy special but only half with the sausage and mushrooms and it was wonderful. The only reason I did 4 instead of 5 stars was the service was not perfect, but you can tell they are newer and trying very hard. Service will improve because they do have very friendly people that are putting in the effort.

Quite possibly the best thin crust pizza in Milwaukee...and I’ve tested my fair share. We frequent every other week and the consistency is the only gripe I’ve got. While the pizza rocks 9 times out of 10, we have gotten a dud (soggy/underdone) on two occasions now. Knowing that this precious pie takes thirty minutes to bake, it’s never been worth sending back, but worth noting if you appear in a hurry. Great trivia deals too!

Officially the thinnest deep dish I've ever had. The pizza across the street at Ian's is the same thickness as this. Also, service was insanely slow. Wasnt busy at all but took waiter 15 minutes to come to us for the first time. He never actually refilled our waters either. I'll just have to go to Chicago for my deep dish. I won't be returning here. I'll just go to Pequod's.

Love the pizza. When in Chicago we normally get the deep dish which is great, but we were looking for something lighter while in Milwaukee so we got the thin crust. The flavor of the sausage is amazing. The crust is nice and firm. The pizza really could have used a little more sauce though. Drink (cocktail) prices are very high, possibly even more than at the Chicago locations. They need to keep in mind that this is WI where people are used to more affordable drinks :)

Real Chicago deep-dish pizza in Milwaukee, just fantastic. Scratches that itch when you have it. Service was great and an awesome staff. Members of our party also had the pasta and salads, both were also good. So happy to have something like this in town, saves me the hour or so drive south.

Been hardup for Deep Dish in Milwaukee, was excited to hear that some was finally available. Ordered one large mushroom and sausage, and also one large that had all the classic Chicago toppings. The first one was decent, the other was way off. Sauce had flavor of uncooked wine, and there was juice underneath it as we took slices… never seen a pizza swim like that. The green pepper was diced up tiny too, not longer pieces like normal. The crust was also way too stiff. Couldn’t be cut with knife, and biting it nearly shatters one’s teeth. Microwaving it back home was a bit easier to eat. Restaurant was only 1/3 full and service was pretty bad. Took 20+min just for appetizer, everyone seemed disorganized and confused. We had four different people help serve us, it was ridiculous. Also, there’s free dedicated parking for customers across the street in the parking lot. Didn’t know that until already parking on the street quite far away.

2nd time here but no special event this time (1st time was a Marquette game). This time was a need to satisfy a nagging craving for this delicious deep dish pizza! EVERYTHING - crust, sauce, sausage , cheese, and seasoning is the best I've had which includes other delicious pizzas in the Chicago area. And here it is in Milwaukee. Attentive service and friendly. And if you are lucky they offer 20 spots of free parking across the street! Some reviews say pricey!? NO WAY! Its a worthwhile experience! THANK YOU for opening this gem!

The deep dish was awesome! Crispy crust that wasn’t too thick and lots of toppings. The disappointment was the service. The restaurant at 7:30pm wasn’t very busy and it took forever to get our appetizers (calamari that I felt needed more seasoning and an equally uninspired side salad) which we had asked to have early since one of our guests hadn’t eaten since lunch. Our waiter, Caleb, who must had gone on break, disappeared while another walked around the dining room with our calamari order for 5 minutes not knowing which table had ordered it. The calamari was practically cold when we flagged them down. The server proceeded to tip over a full glass of ice water on one of our guests with no apology and we had to ask to have his glass of water refilled. I understand that a new wait staff needs time to get better, but this was really subpar. Pizza was so good I gave this review two more stars than it should have. My advice...order take out and save yourself the 20% tip for “service” which we did leave because I believe waitstaff should be compensated even for poor service.
