We had dinner here last month while staying at The Lincoln Hotel down the road. It was a Friday night, and there were lots of people stopping by to pick up pies and lots of calls coming in for orders. We enjoyed people watching and loved the feel of the old-school dining room that reminded me of my childhood. The staff were pleasant despite the constant busy rush of customers. When our pies came out, 1 of them was a plain cheese that should have been pepperoni. They were kind and let us keep that one while they made another. When we each tried a slice, it was absolutely delicious. Crispy crust but not overdone, a perfect amount of really good cheese, and the right proportion (for us) of sauce. Overall, it was a really good experience that I would come back for again. The pizzas are made fresh, so just know that on a busy night like Friday, you will be there a bit waiting. Sit back, relax, people watch, and enjoy the pizza making show.

Pizza by Alex in Biddeford, Maine, serves up some truly delicious pizza that’s hard to beat. The crust is perfectly cooked, the sauce is flavorful, and the toppings are always fresh definitely a highlight for any pizza lover. However, my recent experience was a bit disappointing when it came to the service. The staff began cleaning up the dining area at 7:30 PM, explaining that they were leaving at 8 PM, which felt a bit rushed and unwelcoming for us dining in. While they remained open for takeout until 9 PM, the early closure of the dining area took away from the overall experience. If you’re looking for great pizza, Pizza by Alex delivers on flavor, but I’d recommend planning for takeout if you’re visiting later in the evening to avoid any inconvenience.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely Excellent Pizza! I’ve been getting takeout from Pizza by Alex for years, and it’s always been fantastic. Recently, I had the chance to dine in, and the experience was just as great! The pizza crust was perfectly crunchy, and the overall quality was top-notch. Highly recommend! Plus, the parking is convenient, making the whole visit even better. Looking forward to my next trip!

Everyone is always raving about Pizza By Alex, always saying how great it is, and complaining about how addictive their pizza is. I am not so quick to buy into things, but one this was for sure, with such talk about a local pizza place, I had to put my two cents in. So what's the deal with the place? They sell one size pizza (10" personal pan), and have no other food. Amazing business model! This helps them to not get too bogged down while they crank out some serious pizzas, and helps to keep the wait time to a minimum. The pizza is delicious! This helps the business to thrive. I mean... if ya only sell one thing, you'd better do it well if you plan on being around a while, and Pizza By Alex HAS been around a while for more than 60 years... which does sort of explain why the interior reminds me of a 1960s doctor's office. Bottom line here, is they have some great food, sell it at fair prices, and pizza is awesome... everyone knows THAT! Try it... you'll be a fan!

Great pizza. It reminds me of South Shore Bar Pie a tiny bit. Enjoyed our pizzas while staying at The Lincoln Hotel. I even bought some swag. Will def be back.

We walked into Pizza by Alex and were immediately struck by how retro the place felt—but not in the rundown, outdated way. It was more like stepping into a perfectly preserved time capsule. The old signage and decor were all intact, but somehow everything looked brand new. It was unusual in the best way—charming, nostalgic, and immaculately kept. The one-size pizza thing caught me off guard at first, but honestly? It was absolutely spot on. We’ve been on a 5,100-mile road trip, and this is hands-down the best pizza we’ve had so far. We’ll definitely be back to Pizza by Alex next time we’re in the area.

Let me just say.. There is nothing absolutely nothing matching this. It brings me straight back to a place my Nana always got what was called bar pizza. But it was made entirely the same way and the owners at one point was an Italian family for many many years. And unfortunately there son who eventually took over had kept it going for a god long while but did eventually sell the business. And now let’s just say it all went down hill and that’s something that happens sometimes. But anyway I’m so happy and feel very fortunate to have this place to be able to have a slice of a pie done exactly as it was intended. I hope there place can stay in the future in the right hands of family and continue this amazing legacy it’s irreplaceable. My hats off to you! Great personal & affordable pies. Total classic and cute pizza joint atmosphere. Service is amazing and personable even through the busy hours! They're so great every time I go there.

Kinda rude service, not great , only 1 size pizza, kinda like MOD pizza just add your toppings. Didn't see a drink menu just had a cooler of drinks. They have cheese oregano and chili peppers available at the table which is awesome, old school feel, like it's never been updated since the 50's but enjoyable. The dining room area by the kitchen was loud from some machine they were using. Cool music playing. It's about a 20 min wait for the pizza. The pizza was meh - I'd say 3.5 overall

They didn't accept card payment at the time and they're service was cold. Food was traditional variety ma and pop and they had all the toppings. One-two star based on service.

Pizza by Alex is as old school as it gets. They only serve 10' pizzas. There are a few topping options, everything is super well priced. One pizza is enough for a hearty meal.

Used to go to Alex all the time. They are difficult to reach. Phone rings and rings. Stopped in one time and found they take their phone off the hook! They have raised their prices. Go to Saco house for great pizza and many other choices. Delivery too! Prices still reasonable , less than Alex. Don't get frustrated by Alex not answering their phone. Go to Saco House.

We were told that he had to pop into this place if we are looking for a good slice of pizza ... some even stated that it is the best that they ever had. So we stopped in on Sunday as the wife and I were out and about. It didn't look like it at first, but there is ample parking behind the building for patrons of the place. The decor was a little run down with the bathroom being very tiny for a 6 foot 3 dude. (my head was hitting the roof in the bathroom) but, this place is strictly a pizza place and reminds me of growing up where there wasn't a ton of other items like calzones or pasta dishes so they specialize in one thing and one thing only ... pizza. The staff was super friendly and accommodating and very quick in their preparation of the pies. I also noticed that there are a ton of people that call in their orders early and come in and pick up or eat in. The important part of this was the pizza itself ... I am usually a big fan of thin crust or NY style pizza and this was a little thicker than my normal liking but it was very good. I got the pepperoni and my wife got the cheese and we both said afterwards, "Not the greatest pizza in the world but was very good" sounding like total pizza snobs. If you are looking for a variety of italian fare here, you will be disappointed but if you are looking for a good slice of pizza, check this place out in Biddeford.

The pizza here is the perfect size for a 1 person meal or a good sized snack for 2. The service was quick and friendly at the counter. I really liked the old school interior, and feels like it's catered towards locals. The crust was very good, I'd order just the crust if that was an option! The rest of the pizza was very good as well, however it did have a lot of sauce on it which made it a little messy. Overall a great place to grab a quick pizza and I will be coming here more often.

Simple classic good tasting personal size pizzas! Have been here many many times and I've never been disappointed. The pizzas have such a great flavor and even though they are personalized I feel like I'm always eating too much. My favorite combination is sausage and onion with extra sauce and cheese and it just always hits the spot. Thanks for being a reliable staple in Biddeford!

It's definitely a different style of pizza! The family owned business has been around for more than 60 years, always in the same spot. The brothers that started Alex Pizza came here from Greece. And now, the daughter of one has taken over in the last 4-6 years. The pizza is all one size - 10" personal pan pizza with a thicker crust. They make their own sauce and shred their own cheese blend. They don't skimp on the toppings. My favorites are the mushroom and sausage or the "YaYa" pizza with Greek olives. YaYa is Greek for grandma if you didn't know. The pizza has mozzarella aswell as spinach, onions, and feta. I like to add olives to mine. You can ask for to be done lighty or crispy. The ovens are VERY hot. I love this pizza when I want a change of pace. If I'm very hungry, I can eat one myself. They just do pizza and do it great!! They have beverages to go, too. Highly recommend it if you want something different! The staff is always super friendly, great you with hello and a smile as soon as you enter.

My husband is from here and we get this pizza every time we visit. Always amazing and delicious! So fresh and cooked in the old oven it just doesn't get any better! No comparison to anything else out there! Truly the best!

Pizza tasted good, but was planning on actually eating it inside the restaurant. Was taking a break from driving and it would have felt nice to actually sit down and enjoy the pizza. There I never stated "to go" and sat down in the restaurant side. Apparently single travelers are not welcome.

I have a new favorite at Alex's -- extra cheese and double pepperoni. Give it a try!

There is not a finer pizza around !! We have lost more excellent pizza places in the last few years than we can afford to lose. This place is a gem the menu is simple and delicious as well as affordable! Go check them out you will NOT be sorry.

Old timey pizza joint. Friendly. Good pizza made to order. Flavorful sauce. Generous toppings. Crispy crust. Not a ton of drink options other than sodas and water. Love the 70s wood paneled walls.

They only serve pizza, but it's delicious and a good price. I love coming here, never had an incorrect order yet, though sometimes they're super busy.

Mushrooms as an appetizer was not good. Pizza looked and tasted like store bought pizza that you would get at a supermarket.

Located across the street from the Biddeford Post Office in an older building ~ super casual, simply place your order over the phone or at the counter. Just love the pizza here. It's ALWAYS HOT and delicious! Keep in mind - they only offer pizza and drinks and the pizza comes in only one size and cash only

We have been coming to Pizza by Alex forever for great takeout pizza. Wonderful pizza. We order the Alex's Special which has loads of great stuff including Greek olives on it. We were told to always ask for "Old ovens" and have done so ever since we started coming to Alex's. Delicious! We usually order two pizzas and eat about 2/3 with a few slices for lunch next day.

It's a pizza place and not fine dining but it's in a wonderfully upcoming location and has snappy signage that is hard to miss. The pies are traditional NY not Sicilian. Ample size and there is interior seating. For a fast bite, this is recommended.

The pepperoni is not what I expected and did not like. They only do 10" pizzas. The Greek Pizza is very good

Great food and service! Stayed open a little later as we came in from out of town ... didn't make us feel guilty... pizza was delicious!

Guess I missed the good years..... Went for the first time in fall 2022, and based on some other reviews of old time fans - I agree, it sucks now. Almost nothing, including the food, sat right with me at this place. I'm really trying to think of something nice to say. Pizza is not my type, I can't tell if it's personal sized or for sharing (comes on those cardboard plates like you see in some old new england places) - either way, mine is for sharing - take all of it! Hopefully they can improve - food, service (owner/manager was a little too much), and vibe. This place obviously had a lot of love from the people at one point, but I can see why it has changed its rep.

Best pizza in the Biddeford area have been going there for 65 years not the same as New Haven's pizza it's a sweet though Greek style pizza but out of this world

Thank you to the woman who came and talked to me and my girls. She had toys and things ready for them. It felt like home! The pizza was delicious and the pretty and thin lady (I didn't catch her name) was so genuine and welcoming. My girls are already asking to go back to the "Nice lady pizza place". It's heartwarming to see people caring about people. I will highly recommend the "nice lady pizza place" to my friends. Thank you, from a mom and her 2 girls :)

Good pizza. The place has been in business since 1960, so they must be doing something right. We were in Maine for vacation and on the way back to York Harbor from Portland Head Lighthouse, we stopped in on a recommendation from someone back in Georgia who grew up in Biddeford. Not disappointed at all. Quick and friendly service. The pizza was tasty. I got pepperoni and sausage, the wife ate pepperoni and mushrooms. They only make one size, a 10" personal shallow-pan pizza, which is perfect for one person or enough for two for a snack.

I live in northern Maine and every I go to Biddeford I stop at Alex. Stopped in yesterday and had a pepperoni pizza. So disappointed. They changed the pepperoni and it is awful. I like almost everyone's pizza. I could only eat a few pieces. If I go again I will order a different topping.

I saw a review/picture of a pepperoni sausage pizza that looked divine. By chance we were passing through the area and I forced my husband to stop- he had his doubts. Now he can't stop talking about the amazing pizza! Great old fashioned pizza joint atomosphere, friendly and prompt service and incredible Greek style pizza.

This is the best pizza I've ever had. I've "the best" pizzas across the country, and honestly, this is my favorite. The crust is soft, but crispy, and surprisingly salty in the best way. The sauce is *chefs kiss*, and just the perfect t amount of cheese.

Don't be turned away from this place just because they only offer personal size pizzas. These are solid pies. The menu is a bit short for choice, but you can build your own pizza from a list of ingredients if none of the pre-made pizzas interest you. We ordered the Hawaiian & the Peperoni over the phone and went to pick it up. Took about 20m for it to be ready. When we arrived to pick up these 2 pies, I was nervous that 1, 10" pizza wouldn't be enough food for me so I ordered another. This one was green peppers, bacon, hamburger, and extra sauce (because why not). This one was my favorite out of the 3. Quick service, good food, but no much by way of choices. The ambiance is what you would expect from a main street type pizza shop. Pretty clean but probably better suited for takeout.

Highly recommend trying the pizza here! I love having the personal size pizza and has always been a favorite in the family

Neighborhood classic, if you live within a 15 mile radius, you just know. Love pizza by Alex, I just wish they offered a few more options. But why fix something that's not broken? Simple, straight forward menu, and one of the absolute best pizza places around!

After making our way there on the way home from a trip, with the hope to have dinner inside of the restaurant, nope the dining room was closed due to Covid (or lack of help). But, having the restrooms with an out of order sign, not cool or acceptable! We waited for our three pizza's a bit annoyed, but hungry nonetheless. When we received our pizza's, the picture below is what mine looked like. Mind you, the pizza only traveled from their store to our car in the parking lot. If you are going to be open, have your restrooms open for the public. The pizza stuck to the top, I think that was my final straw I am done with Alex's.

Another excellent pizza from my local favorite!! Bacon & Onion for me and sausage & mushroom for my fiance. Both cooked in the old oven. This is KEY to the great pizza Alex has been serving for decades. There is a big difference in flavor and crust when it it cooked in the "old oven" versus the newer conveyor style oven. Tonight's order was cooked perfectly! A+ (No pics because we were starving)

Simple but always good. The pizzas are individual size and always done to perfection. The counter crew is always polite. Pizzas are always ready for pick up when I arrive.

One of our favorite ways to spend summer Friday nights in Maine is with Yaya's greek pizza with olives from Alex's and it's amazing every single time! It's 10 inches of personal pizza goodness from a joint that's undoubtedly been around longer than I've been alive, so they clearly know what they're doing. This is a pizza that I dream about in the off-season; if you're touristing the southern ME coast, this place is a must!

Been eating since I was a kid and still indulge on occasion. One size is perfect and keeping it simple can work! Always a good experience and tasty pizza.

We were in Biddeford for a softball game and were all starving for a late night dinner that we could take on the ride home. I've heard great reviews about Pizza by Alex and was excited to try it. To my surprise, upon review of the menu, I quickly learned 10 inch pizzas are their specialty. It made decision making easy and gave us all the opportunity to get the toppings that we wanted, without having to compromise. When it came time to pickup and pay, I was surprised to be told it was a cash only establishment and there was an ATM on site if needed. After I took a second glance at the website, I saw the disclosure but it didn't stand out by any means. I highly recommend they make this message more apparent. Luckily, I did have cash on me but I got a very annoyed vibe from the cashier when I first handed her my card. The vibe would be the only reason I'm not giving them a 5. Nobody behind that counter smiled and there were 4 employees plus the owner present. Nobody exchanged any friendly banter with me, at any given time. It was almost awkward to wait for the 2 mins I was in there. When I finally got the pizza to my car, we all took that first bite and in unison let out a full mouthed "Mmmmmmmmm." The dough is cooked to perfection, crispy but not hard, greased but not soaked, still soft and fluffy on the inside. It truly was the perfect bite. Hats off to absolutely nailing it. I've eaten a lot of pizza, but I want more of yours! That's how it's done!

Always one of my first stops when I am there in the summer. Alex Pizza is my favorite pizza place by far. Love the crust, especially when cooked in the "old oven". Highly recommend!!! Also, this year, they had to deal with Covid-19 and they seemed to be taking every precaution. No inside dining. Phone orders only and one person inside at a time for pick up. My only complaint is that with their addition of the parking lot, they certainly could add a few picnic tables for patrons to eat outside instead of sitting in our cars.

Always pass by this place while driving around town so figured we'd give it a try! They only do personal-sized pizzas, so we got one cheese and one bacon. They are only doing to-go orders at the moment which are only able to be placed over the phone. Upon arrival, there was quite a line to pick up orders! I was suddenly even more excited to try this pizza since there seemed to be such a following. When it was my turn to go inside to pick up my order, staff was very friendly and informed me that they had recently started accepting debit/credit (they were previously cash-only). My order was hot and ready- I paid and drove home to devour the pies. My partner and I agreed that they were good quality pizzas, but we did find them to be a bit expensive considering the size of the pies.

My friend and I ordered two pizzas for pickup and they said it would take 15-20 minutes. We ordered them at 1:45 and showed up at 2:10 and our pizza's were not ready. They said they gave our pizza to someone due to a "mix up" and then we had to wait another 15-20 minutes for our pizzas....not cool.
