Pizza by Sal is just one of those few places that has everything, amazing service, delicious food and an absolute vibe of an old style restaurant with a modern twist. They got beer they got ice cream pizza and wings and most importantly beer. Chicken parm and margarita pizza after a few pitchers slap. Weekends are the best Connor Logan zali and katelynn are some of the few top tier hosts I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone local or passing through.

We visited Pizza by Sal for the first time yesterday after hearing great things from our neighbors, and overall, it was a positive experience. The food was good, and we’d definitely order from here again. We started with the chicken tenders, which were indeed tender—we could have gone for seconds. For the pizza, we opted for cheese, sausage, and mushrooms. It was enjoyable, though we think calling it NY style is a bit of a stretch; most wouldn’t notice unless they’re from NY like us. The pie was tasty, but it felt a bit salty, possibly due to the cheese or sauce. The crust was thin and foldable, striking a balance between crispy and soft. We’re giving 4 stars for a couple of reasons. While the service was quick at first, it slowed down significantly when we waited about 20-30 minutes for our pizza. Our waiter seemed to forget about us, so we had to remind him. Additionally, the prices felt high—$29 for a 16" pie with two toppings seemed steep, likely due to the "Wilmette effect." They claim to use high-quality ingredients, but inflation plays a role as well. Lastly, the noise level increased significantly once families arrived with kids running around and using the arcade machines. We suggest the owners consider adding sound-absorbing materials to improve the dining experience. It doesn’t need to be silent, but a quieter atmosphere would be nice. Overall, it’s a place we’d return to, especially if they address these issues.

It was great! Amazing service and delicious pizza and salad. Our server gave us a sample of one of their ice cream flavors and that was delicious too. Would come back again. Thanks!

Google
Love this place so much! Not only is the pizza top tier the service is also outstanding. I highly reccomend trying the white sauce on your pizza with ricotta and razor thin garlic- stupidly good. When I walked in to pick up my order they asked me to wait a few minutes and turns out they made a mistake on my order so they remade the whole thing which took a little extra time but they were so kind and gave me a free box of cookies to compensate. Please give this place a try you won’t regret it!

Google
Love this place. As a dine in experience terrific for kids too! Two arcade games, one TV on nickelodeon, and paying via code on your phone! (A godsend for parents needing to make a quick exit.) Our favorite spot in town, for take out and now dine in too!

Our first try here was when it was still new and takeout only. I wasn't that impressed. Our second try was recent, after they added a full service restaurant area. And I have to say, it's fun. The food is simple and really good. The pizzas are huge. The service is casual and friendly. It reminds me of old school pizza parlors- very kid friendly, with a couple of video/arcade games and TVs on the wall. I still think it's a bit overpriced and they close way too early (8pm!) but at the end of the night, in an effort not to waste food, they do give away the slices they have leftover. So, kudos for that. I recommend the Caesar salad and any pizza. They are all good. Wine by the glass is fairly inexpensive and decent. Desserts are all tasty and come from Buck Russell's. Be aware that if you are ordering online, there is a 3 percent surcharge. The nickel and diming is kind of offensive. The spaghetti sauce is amazing! Seriously.

The pizza is good, but the service is terrible. After I made the order, we were completely ignored, no one even offered to bring us something to drink. After 20 minutes of waiting, I asked for water, and the servant brought a bottle with one glass, although there were three of us. I don't recommend staying here for dinner. Better order pizza by phone.

Google
Excellent New York style thin crust pizza. The crust is flavorful and has a good amount of chew. The garlic knots are buttery and amazing. Another great addition to the incredible Ballyhoo Hospitality group!

Yelp
This is a very good pizza shoppe. I ordered the no nonsense cheese pizza. Very light and thin with a good crisp on the bottom. I'm not a fan of pizza crust but I at the crusts on this pizza it's that good. I've tried most of the NY style places in the Chicago area and this is easily in the top 3. I definitely recommend and it would be worth going out of your way for.

Yelp
Classic pepperoni done right! Being from New York, a bit picky so I was nicely surprised.

Yelp
Bald older short guy who works there named "Al" has glasses, just hates his life to the max. It's an amazing place food wise but that guy soured my experience so hard I won't return. He had a full man meltdown over my simple 1 dish order. To the point where I asked "are you ok?" . His attitude / demeanor is a poor reflection on the business and we will 100% return once he quits or gets fired because those guys never last.

Yelp
I read the reviews and decided to give it a try and so glad we did. The pizza is amazing. We also had the chopped Italian salad and that was delicious too. The brought us some wine to sample and that was quite good. We live 50 minutes away and we'll make the drive again

Yelp
Overpriced, adequate pizza by relatively indifferent staff. I rarely order from here as a result.

Alex L.

Yelp
Mediocre pizza for $34 White sauce just melted ricotta cheese, few pieces of over salted pepperoni, and few crumbs of no taste Italian sausage . Toppings are nonexistent for $ 3- 4 per It's not London or New York City Shame on you guys

Yelp
Love this pizza! Thin crust, high-quality cheese, and great sauce - YUMMY! Thank you for selling singles - super easy for pick up!

Yelp
We had a great experience. I should say that we ate in the dine-in section. Good friendly service, reasonable prices and excellent food. The Caesar salad was top notch---fresh lettuce, flavorful dressing and abundant parmigian. Where can you still get a bottle of drinkable red wine for under $30? Pizza exceeded our expectations. We find most Chicago pizza to be awful. (Seems like tavern style, in detestable squares, is beloved by native Chicagoans who have never tasted better pizza from other parts of the country.) This pizza on the other hand did everything right. Crunchy but light and airy crust ...perfectly proportioned and tasty cheese, nonsweet, tomato sauce, and salty, delicious pepperoni. We will definitely be going back.

Yelp
I had some pasta and it was pretty good. I'm gonna come back for the pizza. I dined in and the waiter came with the check, and I paid and tipped him before he was actually done serving us and he never came back. It was weird he was kind of just standing around.

Yelp
Ordered for delivery. Arrived on time. Enjoyed my pesto pizza - flavorful toppings (pesto, ricotta, and "oven roasted cherry tomatoes") with a crunchy crust that was chewy enough to finish. Would eat again. One 16" pizza can serve 2-3 people, depending on appetite. However, would not re-order the garlic knots. They are essentially dinner rolls baked in a loaf with some lightly garlic-y melted butter and parmesan poured on - not the twisty, doughy, intense garlic of a true garlic knot. Still, another solid member of downtown Wilmette's dining scene.

Yelp
Amazing pizza from people who care. Last night we decided to celebrate our cat's birthday, and ordered a pepperoni pizza with the request that the pepperonis be in the shape of a cat. We could not have asked for better treatment for something our cat couldn't enjoy as much as we did. The staff went above and beyond, both in terms of their delivery on a very cute and delicious cat pizza. This made our night, and ever more heightened my love for a phenomenal pizza place so close to home. The staff working on the evening of the 6th made

Yelp
I have found the best pizza in Chicagoland. I have tried so many Chicago tavern, deep dish, stuffed pizzas over the years and none can compare to real NY style pizza that I eat in NYC every few months. Tavern style - especially when well done - is gross and reminds me of badly made flatbreads. Deep dish and stuffed are casseroles - not true pizza by any standard. True pizza has a light, airy crust with some crunch and chew. True pizza has a mild yet sturdy cheese with great flavor that compliments the pizza. True pizza has a slightly salty, well spiced sauce that compliments the pizza. All components should compliment one another and form a great flavor. This is Sal's pizza. We got 2 pizzas and the plain cheese is what I'm basing my review on. The spinach and ricotta was good, yet not as good as the plain cheese. I'll try some meats next, yet the best way to investigate new pizza is always a plain cheese. The garlic knots are non traditional in size and construction (do a google search for NYC garlic knots and you'll see what I mean), yet they are exactly the correct flavor and texture of real garlic knots. I look forward to trying many more pizzas at Sal's!

Yelp
False advertising - the $75 "family" meal is actually $77, base price, not including tax and tip. They don't say what kind of family this will serve- except for the pizza, the portions are very small. It''s a nice idea, but bear in mind that this will actually run you over to $100 to feed about four, moderately hungry people. I would say the salad and pasta are good for 1-2 people, there are four small garlic knots, the tiramisu is also good for two people, and the pizza will serve four.

Yelp
Delicious NY style pizza. We always order it via DoorDash. It was a huge hit for the Super Bowl!

Nancy A.

Yelp
Yum -did carry out -ordered spicy pepperoni pizza and an Italian chopped salad - delicious will be ordering again

Tony T.

Yelp
Good not great Overall fun to have NYC pizza on the northshore If this was in NYC it'd be a 3/5, but as far as Chicago goes, its passable and pretty good for NY style Sauce is acidic, but good garlic and cheese flavors

Steve D.

Yelp
Finally a place to get an authentic NY style slice! Would definitely recommend. Crust is crispy and chewy, cheese has perfect tang and sauce is right amount of sweet.

Rob K.

Yelp
Pizza is pretty good...if you don't mind waiting 45+ min AFTER your confirmed pick up time. Haven't figured out how to prepare orders in a timely fashion. Not even close. And the in-store communication is poor. But again, pizza is good; service bad.

Regina S.

Yelp
Honestly wasn't sure what to expect but it's my new favorite pizza place. As close to east coast pizza as you can get around here. The wait to pick up our pizza was longer than quoted when ordering, so that was the only downside, but it was worth the wait. Pizzas are large, can easily feed 2-3 adults. So glad we gave it a try!!

Mel M.

Yelp
The pizza was delicious! We were driving thru the area from New York to Oregon and stopped based on other reviews. So glad we did. We did not want to wait too long so we got the pizza by the slice. Two slices each made for a nice meal. If we had more time, I would definitely have ordered a whole pizza. I wish I had leftovers.

Kate T.

Yelp
So happy to have truly delicious east coast style pizzeria in town. LOVE that the neighborhood kids can (and do) pop in for a "slice to-go" after school. It's small but cozy and the staff is always friendly- this is what neighborhood restaurants are meant to be like. The garlic knots and meatballs are really good additions to your meal. We order from here once a week (because we like it that much!).
