My low overall rating is primarily a reflection of the service given to us. The food was very tasty and me and my friends would come back for the food. The service on the other hand was okay until the very end. We walked in at 11:30pm when the place closed at 12:30am - the host greeted us and was very kind. Our server who was a man with a beard and wavy hair and a hat was direct and it was clear all he wanted to do was take our order - we did not feel any warmth or welcomeness from him which I personally understood as we were coming in an hour before close. We enjoyed our food and shout to the lady who let us order those ice cream sandwiches past last call - she was wearing a white shirt with red raglan sleeves, she was EXTREMELY kind. When we asked for our bills the same server who took our order started distributing them out, he noticed that there was a seat swap as one of my friends needed to use the washroom during our meal and he was sitting in the middle but just decided to sit on the end (they just swapped spots). He asked us, if there was a seat swap and we said yes, and that it was just the two of them so all they needed were to swap receipts. The final person was about to pay, and he goes “oh this is wrong, someone paid the wrong thing” then proceeds to say in a very passive aggressive condescending tone that our table had a lot of seat swaps hence why there was a mess up when in reality only two of them swapped spots and needed to swap receipts. When we explained only two of them swapped he proceeded to say that it messed up the whole ecosystem. The final person paid and he immediately walked away without thanking us for stopping by.
Bottom line: I understand it’s late and you’re tired, but at the very least show some respect and kindness. And if you hate your job, leave. I would give this place a higher rating had I was taken care of by the host or the other server because they were great.
UPDATE: The owner reached out directly, acknowledged the situation, and took steps to resolve it. I appreciate their accountability and willingness to make things right, and I look forward to my next visit with confidence that the service will be better.
