Pizza Coming Soon - Review - Chinatown - Vancouver - The Infatuation

"Once you wrap your head around Pizza Coming Soon’s dense, graphics-heavy menu, you’ll realize the pizza is never coming because you’re actually at a quirky izakaya in a former Chinatown diner. This is Japanese food through a “what if?” lens. Like, what if McDonald’s served bao buns? The answer is Big Mac Bao, which is even better than it sounds. Or what if gnocchi with tomato sauce took a brown butter miso bath? The Banana Phone in your hand is actually a cacao-and-banana flavored rum cocktail. There are candy-colored booths and Kit-Cat Klockseverywhere, which makes it feel like a fever dream you could live in for hours. And many people do, staying late into the night for DJ sets and karaoke sessions. These guys also put out what’s probably the most sought-outrestaurant merchin the city, in case you feel the need to commemorate your experience with a t-shirt." - Thalia Stopa

Best dining experience I’ve had in Vancouver. First off, our server was amazing. She was energetic, relatable descriptive of the food (not reciting ingredients), super fun and attentive. The atmosphere is vibey and retro cool. Honestly felt like we were in a fake set on iCarly or in some retro Americana diner in Tokyo. The food was delicious in every dish. The Kale Miso Caesar is the best salad I have ever had. I could eat it every day over and over. The other dishes were all unique but relatable. The chicken was more like a fried wonton than a fried chicken. The udon noodles and dumplings had something non Asian but familiar about them that made them like a comfort food. This is a MUST try when visiting this beautiful city. Just don’t wait for the pizza oven to be fixed.

What an interesting place! We stopped there for dinner and ordered a bunch of plates and drinks. Everything was good, especially the dumplings, tonkatsu, and gnocchi. The food was nicely presented, but the portions were a little too pricey for the size. I really liked the decor, though!

Came here for a late dinner, chose it because of the gluten free options, proximity to the hotel and the reviews! Very fun spot, live dj, just a really fun ambience and the staff is so friendly. All around positive vibes. This is very much a spot I’d come with friends, food to share and yummy drinks! The service is slow but I think it works out nice because it stretches out your dinner time bs hurrying through. Miso cucumbers were SO good and the fries, yummmm! The chicken wings were a little too salty for me but I think mainly since I wasn’t drinking alcohol but a mocktail. I’d come again for sure though!

Perfect Date Night Pizza Coming soon is a great spot. The food is delicious, the decor is cool and the interior is bright and clean. Excellent service, too. Every time I come here, the food is so delicious and there are always some unique dishes. We had 4 different snacks and they were all very tasty. Thanks to Shay for VIP service!

We crossed the street just to peek in the window and figure out what was going on inside, and we're glad we did! Martinis with housemade brine were fantastic, cold draft Asahi and the grilled cabbage with miso-cashew crema was so good that my wife licked the plate (see pic). PS, Service was excellent too!

All the dishes were acceptable. The dumpling was surprising - the meat has this gamey that’s not usually found in dumplings. Not a bad thing, just surprising. Miso eggplant was really good. Music was way too loud.

Love this place. Impeccable design, fantastic service and the food is sooo good The server made us this menu for my wife's nightshade allergy - above and beyond 🙏

Unique and delicious selection of food in an incredible atmosphere! Think old-school dinner/antiques meets bar with a modern/stylish twist. To eat, we ordered the fries, gomae, big mac bao, seared scallops, nasu dengaku (eggplant), and mushroom tempura. The eggplant was definitely the favourite! The piña coming soon (cocktail) was also great. Already looking forward to coming back.
