If you're looking for a quick and tasty bite, this spot delivers! It’s not a traditional sit-down restaurant, but perfect if you want great pizza on the go. The pizza is halal and really flavorful and for those wondering, the ham and bacon are actually made with turkey, which is a nice touch. Service is fast, and everything came out hot and fresh. Definitely a great place to grab a quick, delicious, and halal-friendly meal!

Ordered pizza, kabob and a gyro for take out. Service was great. Owner saw that my son was really hungry so went out of his way to make sure he got a slice of pepperoni while we waited on the rest of the food. Super nice guy. Kids loved the Golden pizza and the pep. Kabob has a great spice. Gyro hit the spot.

Ordered pizza, fries and mozzarella sticks for takeout. The service was good and the food was made on time and served hot. Fries were a bit soggy but nothing the oven couldn’t fix. Food was pretty good and decent place to get fast food.

Update: Wednesday, April 3rd. Sad to say things aren't running smoothly at Pizza D'Oro Columbia Heights location. We haven't ordered in awhile because of issues. Gave them another chance this evening but it was all for nothing. When placing our delivery order, I asked the employee on the phone twice if blue cheese dressing & celery came with wings? He said yes. After I placed our order, I reminded him about the dressing & celery. He assured me those items would be included. I apologetically explained that the last few times we ordered, my husband did not receive celery or blue cheese dressing. He said don't worry. I thanked him & hung up. Order arrives. Pizza is cold. Wings very hot AND no celery. Did receive blue cheese dressing but NO CELERY. We will not try again. Bye bye. Original 4 star review: We've ordered pizza several times from Pizza D'Oro on 14th St NW in Columbia Heights and they've always been delicious. Nice thin crust with savory pizza sauce and high quality mozzarella. We've had plain, mushroom & spinach and their white pizza - all were wonderful. Nice friendly staff too.

Beef pepperoni is delicious! Thanks for existing. I’m not a pork eater but I don’t always want a chicken pizza. Next time I’m trying the meatballs!

Google
I’m not sure what went wrong here. I ordered a mozzarella with basil pie. The basil was burnt. The mozzarella sat upon thick slices of tomato so that neither the mozzarella nor tomato stayed on the pizza (see photo). The dough was wet, floppy, uncooked, and had about as much integrity as the burnt basil. At least I know not to come here again; Little Coco’s is two streets down.

This’ll never call pizza d’ro again I just ordered full steak and cheese with delivery cost me $25 dollars., and I have to go Bach to the place, bc I don’t have mine French fry white mine order…. The Guy with crutches I think he is the manager but he never said nothing…. I’ll never order nothing from this store again…. -

Google
Great pizza! Slice is 6 bucks! A slice is half a pizza though. Huge portions! Very convenient location!

Yelp
This place is ok. I think the food inflation is real. It's $55 for 2 small personal sized pizzas. I don't think it was worth it. There was barely enough cheese to cover the sauce. It was a bit more burnt that I would prefer my pizzas. Maybe it's a bad night because this place has raving reviews?
google avatar

Austin R.

Yelp
Decent service, poor prices, but tasty food. I ordered a slice of the meat lovers which cost $14 but they gave me two so I suppose it was worth it...very tasty nonetheless.

Yelp
Tasty and delicious. Great alternative slightly more upscale than domino's but still affordable.

Yelp
We were in the mood for un-fancy pizza and Pizza D'Oro is down the street from our apartment. We got a large margherita pizza and some garlic bread. The online ordering system is a little unwieldy, but still fairly intuitive. Our food was ready in about 20 minutes, but there was a little confusion when we went to pick it up. The pizza is fine. It's not trying to be fancy, but it's pretty plain. The tomato slices on the margherita were a little thick and the crust wasn't crispy. The slices were floppy and a bit greasy. I thought the sauce could use more flavor too. The garlic bread however was pretty tasty! If you're looking for unfussy pizza quickly, this will fit the bill (although I think other places like Manny & Olga's are a little better, at least for crispy crusts).

Chryne G.

Yelp
It's not fancy pizza, but it's great "I want a pizza" pizza. The garlic knots are . They lose half a star for saying NO DELIVERY FEE in big letters on their website, but then charging a delivery fee. Actually in general the website kinda stinks--I can't log in on mobile half the time. But hey, they're a pizza place not a website place.

Yelp
Driving thru DC during COVID and saw this place and stopped for some Slices to go. Man they were delicious ! We got pepperoni and cheese. Both were delicious and pretty big in size. Each slice was cut in two. We plan on making a trip back for some more pie !

Yelp
I ordered here last night for the first time and honestly, I was beyond disappointed by their pizza. By the reviews, I expected at least average pizza. I ordered a small cheese pizza with sausage, and I am not exaggerating by saying it was the worst tasting sausage I have ever had. I am not sure if they used bad meat, but it had an after taste that was disgusting- tasted like it was rotten or fake meat. I quickly tried to pick off the sausage so I could tolerate the pizza (Fyi I have NEVER had bad sausage on a pizza before, it's my go-to topping). I am really confused by all the 4 and 5 star reviews. Even if the pizza didn't have the disgusting sausage on it, the pizza itself was below average at best. Not terrible, but there was barely any sauce and it was essentially bread with cheese. I kept putting garlic on top to add flavor. I only finished it because i was starving and i drowned each slice with garlic. My order was for pickup so I didn't have much experience with service, but it was fine. The person who took my order over the phone was polite and I was promptly taken care of when i walked in. That was essentially the only good part of this experience.

Yelp
This is our go-to pizza place and not just because we live within walking distance. Skip the specialty pizzas--cheese and pepperoni are the way to go. Be sure to dip those crusts in marinara sauce because this isn't amateur hour. You did get extra marinara sauce with your mozzarella sticks, right?? Veal parmesan sub is my spouse's go-to order while I go with chicken or meatball depending on my mood. No matter what, always get the 12" sub--save half for lunch tomorrow and your future self will thank you. Or eat the whole thing, no judgment. Chicken tenders are also excellent, with extra-thick, always crispy breading fried to perfection. See you soon, Pizza D'Oro!

Yelp
Best pizza based carryout around! Super friendly and food is always on point. Chicken parm is great and don't sleep on the chickpeas!
google avatar

Yelp
This isn't some fancy brick oven pizza place. This is what the chain delivery places wish they could consistently deliver. Nothing but solid, greasy, cheesy, and satisfing pizza. Particularly good after a night out or the next day. Highly recommend the Golden Pizza and the bread sticks with cheese. Jalapeno poppers are good too if you're into that sort of thing.

Yelp
Great pizza experience. Hit the spot and ahead of schedule on delivery. I decided to put my systems to the test, my cardiovascular and digestive systems, in particular The last time I ate an entire ex-large cheese pizza was not a small number of years ago, at the age of 22. I was not thinking clearly at the time as I sure am not on this fine Friday afternoon in the NW of the D.C. 1 hour and 20 minutes later, as we speak, I can safely say that the pizza was most certainly delicious. I did not spend an entire 1 hour and 20 minutes eating the pizza; the full 80 minutes I refer to include soda-sipping and recovery time. Fast driver and courteous service. Great tasting, greasy pizza. Yes, it is greasy, but tolerably greasy. The most redeeming part of the pizza was the crust. I feel the crust is purposely baked that way, crunchy and wide, to withhold the weight of the cheese 'n grease, and to allow you to indulge in the beautiful, slimy yellow ooze that we like to call garlic sauce. MMmmh. Also, is it fair that my mind is blown by the seamless 1/2 topping options this restaurant provides you with on their online ordering page? I mean, I can safely say that I've covered a lot of pizza terrain as I have ordered from a number of different pizza joints around this city of ours.. 1/2 toppings was always a pain. Thank you D'Oro, I'll be back for more!

Yelp
Our family's go-to for pizza! Prices are reasonable for DC and delivery via their website is prompt and reliable.

Yelp
Yummm!!! Great food, fast delivery and friendly staff. First time ordering from Pizza D'Oro and I'm hooked. My son and I tried their Supreme Pizza, Jumbo Buffalo Wings (Mild) and Gyro Platter (Halal) and were very pleased. We will definitely be ordering from Pizza D'Oro again.
google avatar

Savannah B.

Yelp
Excellent for a quick bite! We only ordered pizza but saw a number of things come out while waiting for our food. Everything looked great. It's a little whole in the wall place, but wasn't hard to find. The staffed wasn't as friendly as most places we visited but they did their jobs! I would recommend ordering out since they deliver!
google avatar

Benjamin P.

Yelp
Great deal on the extra large cheese! Their Hawaiian pizza is our favorite. Nice people, too.
google avatar

Sam N.

Yelp
Yes, its been 3 years since I ate here. Over stuffed subs? There was literally no meat in my sub. It was flat and over stuffed with wilted lettuce and tomatoes! $15?!!! What a scam. I was so disappointed tonight. Never Ever Ever again

JeanPaul F.

Yelp
First, they got my order wrong and it wasn't ready when I got there. They asked me to wait 5 minutes and it ended up being 20 min to make a sandwich. When I got home, I got bread with lettuce, tomato, and almost no chicken. I can't believe I paid $14 dollars for that. The fries were greasy which made everything worse. Overall this was the worst experience I've had at any take out place in Columbia heights by far. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.
google avatar

James S.

Yelp
My go-to pizza place in Columbia Heights. Their slices are 1/4 of a 16" diameter pizza, and at reasonable prices. Brooklyn style foldable slice. They can be drippy, so keep the napkins handy. They have pepper, oregano, garlic, and cheese for sprinkling. They have a full menu of calzones, etc. in addition to the pizza. Stop by and pick up a slice today.
google avatar

Lindsay S.

Yelp
Will absolutely never order from here given my experience merely trying to place an order. In short: Far too much attitude, not worth it when there are plenty of great pizza joints around here. Long story: Had never tried this place and thought, "why not?" After looking up the menu online (so I wouldn't have to ask questions), I called and to their minor credit, someone picked up right away. I stated that I wanted a large pizza with pineapple and Canadian bacon, and clarified that I didn't want their Hawaiian (which also has ham, seems duplicative). She attempted to repeat back the order but instead said "bacon." I clarified that no, it was Canadian bacon (certainly different), and she said, "turkey bacon." Um, no, not the same at all. So I said, "no" (mind you, in a polite way) and she hung up on me. I called back and she immediately said, "I'm going to put you on hold" and did so without me getting in a word. Maybe I'm too skeptical, but I don't have a DMV number so if they have caller ID, I'd hedge my bets this was 100% intentional. I don't need over-the-top customer service, but this kind of sh***y service is absurd. Do better. Until then, I'll pay the extra few bucks to go elsewhere where they can manage taking a takeout order without being rude.

Andrea E.

Yelp
As usual...top rate service...btw...we ordered chicken wings..JUICY! HOWEVER...NO mambo sauce...c'mon...its a DC thing...the pizza was perfect! As USUAL ..why we continue to order from the NYC'ers...Andrea and Jerry Fix the Mambo sauce deficit...PLEASE!

Yelp
In 140 characters or less: A river in a post 12 am desert. $5 for 1 slice (which is actually two slices). A solid post night out slice. Pizza D'oro is a very small hole in the wall. Nothing special but it gets points just for the fact that it's open past midnight.

Ken K.

Yelp
There service is really poor evertime I order online they also mess up my orders some of the drivers that work there are unprofessional and rude
google avatar

Jonathan G.

Yelp
Good pizza, good side platters, fast service and delivery. My only problem is that I've been suffering in the pizza desert that is living in the south and now that I'm here, Pizza D'Oro is just a few blocks away. Good pizza in walking distance will kill me but I will die an honorable and cheesy death
google avatar

Jacki G.

Yelp
To Abdul.. I appreciate you responding to my comment about the service We received. Truly makes a difference when the restaurant reaches out to a dissatisfied customer. Will definitely try the pizza again!! Thank you!!! Jacki

Yelp
In need of some delivery pizza on the weekend so I gave Pizza D'Oro a try. I live in Brookland and frankly was surprised (in a good way) they delivered here from their 14th street location. The guy on the phone promised 30-40 minutes...it took 35 minutes - so they were right on the $$ there. The pizza itself was great. Solid crust - a little thicker than NYC style but not anywhere close to pan. Toppings (ricotta and pineapple) were layered nicely. Sauce is tangy and flavorful. The best part - GARLIC SAUCE!!! If you don't like garlic sauce, well, you need to take a deep look in the mirror. So for all of these reasons - quick service, great pizza, I'll definitely be a return customer here. PS - when you call - ask for the specials. They had roughly 6 specials when I called and it's not just "buy 100 pizzas, get 10 free" - there are one pizza specials on most sizes.

Yelp
I've ordered from here a couple times in the last week since I'm in the process of moving and can't stock the fridge right now. Pizza was pretty good, chicken parm sub was only alright. But the wings. The wings were perfect. Most places around here buy whatever is in stock at Aldi's and toss them in franks and call them buffalo/hot wings, but these were spot on. The spice was right in that it was actually spicy but not face-meltingly spicy (I can handle hot foods, but I can't pop ghost peppers like they were starburst). And what made the sauce stand out was the spice blend. Sure, it was hot sauce, but the flavor came from a spice blend you could see on the wings that set them apart from most wings I've had in recent memory. And they serve kens steakhouse blue cheese dressing with the wings. Really, would it kill the competition to spring for the good stuff instead of the family dollar dressing they dole out now?
google avatar

Edina M.

Yelp
Delicious pizza... closest we're have found to NY style. People who work there are nice too. The large slice of pizza is ridiculously large!!! And yes they sell by the slice!!!
google avatar

Mike B.

Yelp
I enjoy this place every time I order. Easy to order online and food comes quickly. Sandwiches come in individual plastic containers. Food "looks" small but it is actually filling. Steak and cheese was really good. If you get it plain like me, expect a call to confirm from the restaurant. This I loved because it shows that they care about your order. Mozz sticks were gigantic and filled. Buffalo chicken calzone was the size of my arm length! Love this place. Will definitely order again.
google avatar

Yelp
Our go-to pizza delivery. Can't beat free delivery and they're always super, super fast. We've only tried the pizza but it's very consistent and is a great standard greasy pizza. We've always found the ingredients to be fresh and - biggest draw of all - they give you garlic sauce with every pizza order.
google avatar

Anirban G.

Yelp
This place serves up awesome slices. Great value for price. Sop up the grease with some napkins and go to town after a night at the bar. Their calzone is even better but you won't fit in your pants the next day.. so yeah, you should probably just get one and wear sweatpants for 48 hrs. Friendly staff as well, they were patient dealing with my tipsy/slow ordering, haha.
google avatar

Boubacar S.

Yelp
Awesome place for pizza, friendly people, and good service. Deliveries might not always be on time, but they are willing to work with you to work something out. Good specials and manager is awesome.
google avatar

Leann V.

Yelp
Pizza D'Oro was awesome. Love this place. You can absolutely order pretty much anything on the menu and never be disappointed. I became very good friends with the staff, who are all terrific and super friendly. Can't wait to go back to Pizza D'Oro.
google avatar

Meg M.

Yelp
Great local spot that I've been patronizing for years. The pizza itself is exactly what you want when you order in. What makes them special is the customer service. Once, when the delivery guy was early with my order, he waited in his car until I got home. No complaints!
google avatar

Dean S.

Yelp
For the owner... i doubt I'll give your place another shot. Forgot to mention my delivery took a hour an half.. and when I called to check up On it a 45 minutes in, the woman that answered told me the first time he was on his way. About called back check over a hour later, she hung up on me. About 5 minutes later is when the driver called me to deliver my order. Overall food, service is just horrible. No redeeming quality. And your took the tip automatically. Scumbag.

Yelp
Brrrr it's cold outside, so what a better plan than to make it a movie and pizza night!! We had ordered from this place before and really enjoyed the pizza and wing special. So we ordered and awaited our tasty combo. Pizza promptly arrives: a large half pepperoni half sausage and 10 garlic. The wings were really good. While we forgot to order them extra crispy, they were satisfying. Who doesn't love the first bite of gooey, piping hot pizza? Well, when it tastes overwhelmingly of cumin or some other non-pizza flavor. Yeah. Not so much. I thought perhaps I made a mistake in ordering the sausage portion. I tried eating while picking off sausage bits. Nope. Then my roommate said: does the pizza taste like garam masala? I could taste a clove-like but more overwhelmingly cumin type after taste that was frankly disappointing and a buzzkill. We figured it was the sauce. The meats tasted ok on their own. Crust was decent. Had to be bad sauce. We called back and had to complain. We told the manager the spice was off. He said the meats could taste spicy so I rephrased saying the taste was off, not that it was spicy like chili. He said the sauce tasted fine but immediately and very nicely agreed to send us another pizza. We took his advice that for whatever reason it might be the meats and agreed to a veggie pizza. It got to us quickly. I hung back and my roomate took the first bite. Yep same taste of cumin or some non traditionally pizza flavor, but less so. I notice this pizza had less sauce. Sigh. We didn't take more than a bite. Two whole pizzas we can't eat. Very disappointed in the pizza but I have to say the manager handled it in a very good manner which made a big difference in keeping the third star. Can't fault a guy that cares about gigs customers and service. Also our third roommate came in after a pub crawl and didn't seem to mind the flavor a bit. He scarfed down half a pizza on his own, so not a total ruin. At least the wings were good.

Yelp
I had Pizzas from all around DC, but this gem outshines all of them. It's a small cozy pizzeria with great quality food. I was surprised to know that they make their own Pizza sauce among other things. One of their specialty is Buffalo Chicken Pizza. That is one of a kind. If you ever get a chance, must try it. They also do deliveries. And it is pretty fast. You will get your food in 30 minutes.

S R.

Yelp
I got an extra large pepperoni the other night from this establishment. While I was eating one of the slices I saw something black next to a slice of pepperoni inside of the cheese. I decided to take it out and it turned out to be a cooked FLY INSIDE OF MY PIZZA. Completely disgusting . Needless to say I'm never getting anything from there again.
google avatar

Carrie H.

Yelp
One day I randomly decided that I wanted a calzone. It had been a long time since I had one but when it arrived and I took a bite, I realized what I had been missing in my life. Their calzones blew my mind. The pizza is good too, but the calzones worked their way into our regular rotation for delivery. We even moved across town and contine to order from here. I love it. Deliver is quick and hot and easy.
google avatar

Almeta A.

Yelp
lly welcoming and will certainly help you with anything. Must try: every thing.
google avatar

Harry J.

Yelp
I've ordered twice and both times it's taken 50 minutes to have cold pizza delivered (I live 8 minutes from the shop). In the summer I was thinking this might be good if they could deliver quickly. So trying again, they first got the order wrong (anchovies instead of artichokes on pizza) and then manager said "they'd get a new pizza right out." Fifty minutes later a cold pizza was delivered and not a good one. The crust is not fresh made and both the spinach and artichokes appear to have been frozen; certainly not fresh ingredients. I won't be ordering a third time.
google avatar

FE P.

Yelp
ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!! I received my order of pizza and buffalo wings and it was soooooo tasty and well prepared. Thank you, Pizza D'Oro!! Great job with the delivery too!! This is my new spot for a Saturday dinner at home. DELICIOUS!!!
google avatar

Yelp
I quickly discovered that this is the closest carry out pizza place to my house. To be honest, I had no idea that this place even existed until I did an online search. First up this place is definitely carry out, there are no tables here so don't plan on trying to eat inside, because there is no space for it. It's not a hole-in-the-wall place, it's almost reminiscent of the Chinese food type carry out establishments. I was sort-of-kind-of hungry so I decided to just get 2 slices- to go! I also ordered a side of fries for $3. While I was waiting I noticed on the menu that they also offer 7 different types of calzones and several other subs as well. Not only that, they sell pasta dishes like spaghetti and seafood of all things! I guess it took about 3 minutes for them to prepare the 2 jumbo slices, which wasn't a lot of time by any stretch. Once I got in the car, I tore into the first jumbo slice, and it was darn good! I will definitely have to swing back around to try out their spaghetti sometime!
google avatar

Tyrone D. S.

Yelp
Just a quick review here. We ordered a Meat Calzone and a Cheesesteak, both were great. The delivery was fairly fast. We'll definitely be ordering more from here.
google avatar

Emily K.

Yelp
I've officially tried them twice and feel that they have potential to be so much greater. Crust could be crispier and a little less trying to put all the toppings on it till it soggy.
google avatar

Kelly M.

Yelp
I moved to dc about 9 months ago and this was on of the first places we tried since it was so close to our neighborhood (Petworth.) The pizza is alright but honestly, I go multiple times a week for their wings! They're almost like rotisserie style, but oven baked and they use actual raw chicken, not some frozen pre-made bs like most places. I ask for mine extra crispy every time and they always look out and make my order exactly how I want it (all flats, extra crispy, honey bbq on the side) even if sometimes I miss a step! Lol. Friendly staff as well. I've also had their mozzarella sticks, good but average. Their calzones are very tasty and cheesy, a bit on the greasy side but the dough is a nice consistency. Over all they get the 5 star for the wings!
google avatar

Ali D.

Yelp
UPDATE: Over the last 6 months I've ordered from Pizza D'Oro so many times it borders on obscene. Not once have I been disappointed. I'm in a basement unit facing an alley and finding my entrance is usually weird/difficult for delivery drivers, but by now every driver gets it right when they see my name on the order! It's nice to have a reliable neighborhood place that does things right. ORIGINAL REVIEW (Nov. 2016): I've ordered late night delivery from here twice through GrubHub and they haven't let me down. Quick delivery and tasty food. Delivery drivers have been super nice. Oh, and when they say pepperoni lover's pizza, they MEAN IT. Hand to god, there were two solid layers of pepperoni edge to edge. Pizza places can be stingy about their meat toppings, so it was a pleasant surprise. I also had a gyro - nothing spectacular, but straightforward and reliably yummy. They'll be my standby when I'm craving a gyro and need my fix quick.
google avatar

Michael W.

Yelp
You know how you never get enough dressing or meat in your gyro not hear good stuff frys seasoned perfect and I'm not supposed eat frys but had a hard time throwing them away. Fast and friendly. But the Yelp delivery search engine said I was out of range. I'm visiting DC so I had no idea. So call them! They ended up being a block or two away. Oh yea wife's chicken salad was broiled not fried thank you for that also seasoned very well. If it was a sit down pizza parlor it would be 5 stars.
google avatar

Brian W.

Yelp
Friendly staff. Good pizza. And love being able to order and pay online. Def recommend.

Yelp
Best Pizza place in DC. The chicken bbq pizza is the best thing. They also deliver so quickly and their hours are awesome. Want a quick p[izza at 2am... this spot is for you
