I've experienced a lot of things, but I'd NEVER experienced someone using a job at a fast food restaurant to bully me -- until today (08/09/2025). It takes a special kind of cowardice and low self-esteem to weaponize any job, especially one at Pizza Hut, but that's exactly what Melissa did.
I ordered online. The pizza showed as delivered at 3:16pm on the Order Tracker, but I hadn't received anything. By 3:20 I still had no food, so asked Melissa to call the driver. Melissa first insulted my intelligence by telling me "the new system shows the order as delivered when the driver is in the vicinity." A lie. I just ordered yesterday and the order didn't show as delivered until it had actually been delivered.
Melissa then tried to act like she didn't understand what I was asking when I suggested that she call the driver. While on the phone w/ the driver and me, you'd think Melissa would've addressed any difficulties the driver claimed to be having finding my apartment, but instead Melissa wanted to argue with me. I'm recording the call at this point because Melissa was so unprofessional and nasty from the start of the convo. She interrupted me repeatedly and was belittling in word choice and tone.
Ten minutes later (3:31pm) I still didn't have food so I called back. Melissa claimed the driver had called me. He hadn't. She tried to argue with me about that and said she'd "just got off the phone with him". But -- among other things, if he couldn't find my apartment, why did he call her instead of me? Goofy. And, why didn't she call me since we'd just spoken; that's what a real leader would've done instead of wasting time having him try to drive or walk around, find my apt. AND call me.
So now Melissa is arguing with me about whether the driver had called me and arguing with me about whether it had been 10 minutes since our last call (as if a call log isn't a thing and wouldn't prove me right). Again, I'm recording and let Melissa know I wouldn't "go back and forth with {her} because I have the recordings and call logs that speak for themselves."
Melissa then tried to play victim about the calls being recorded and her supposedly not knowing. This, though the iPhone recording feature plays a prompt letting BOTH parties know the call is being recorded AND when you call the Pizza Hut number THEIR OWN line plays a prompt saying the call "is being recorded for quality control purposes."
Anyway, I told Melissa, "I won't go back and forth with you."
She responds, "I won't go back and forth with you, but I will ban you from ordering again." LOL LOL, ummmm, whatever! Clown behavior. I hadn't raised my voice, cursed or made a single threat. Melissa, on the other hand, the one paid by a business to do a job, had been condescending, rude and unprofessional. I should've been nasty to her like she was to me, but I could tell that playing victim, then weaponizing her Pizza Hut powers brings her great joy, so I wasn't about to give her the benefit of saying I crashed out like she deserved.
Anyway, facts are facts: 1) Delivery Tracker doesn't show an order as delivered when the driver is "in the vicinity." 2) The iPhone recording feature announces that the call is being recorded; if Melissa didn't hear that it's her problem not mine. 3) Pizza Hut records all calls per their own announcement when you call. 4) Only a coward would ban a customer for tactfully pointing out problems with how services are being provided for things the customer is spending her money on. 5) Melissa doesn't need to have that job since customer service isn't something she shows the acumen for; that's exactly what I said when I called and wrote to Corporate.
I've previously had good experiences here, but Melissa changed that. It says so much that Melissa was more worried about arguing about knowing I was recording calls when her employer records them and she’s under constant video surveillance, than she was concerned about ensuring I got my order and minding her manners/professionalism so there would be nothing for me to record. Disgusting.
