A drive-in institution since 1961 with Greek-salad starters, hand-breaded onion rings, and scratch-made pies. Featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, it’s a taste of classic Knoxville that still draws loyal regulars.

Such a fun Knoxville classic. The pizza reminds me of a Chicago Style thin crust. We always get ham, sausage and mushroom! Check out our full review on our YouTube Channel, Smoky Mountain Faith Food and Fun https://youtu.be/eaLQ_5GXrrU

Been going here for years and it never disappoints!! My favorites are the spaghetti with meat sauce, the Greek salad, & the onion rings are hands down the best ever!!! Plus the owner Charlie is super nice. 10/10 recommend!

It had been decades since I had been to this restaurant. It had been a favourite growing up, so my wife and I ordered a to go from there. Growing up I had only had the sandwiches, the onion rings and of course, the pizza. So we decided to try their mains. I ordered the Veal Parmesan and she ordered the lasagna. We also ordered a small pizza and onion rings. Upon arrival, the "car hop" told me to wait in the car and she would bring my food to me. I told her that I needed to use their ATM and she rolled her eyes and went inside. After using their version of an ATM, the eye rolling car hop hastily without regard put my order in bags and pushed them at me. Everything was absolutely horrible!!! The veal Parmesan was soggy and had what seemed to be a metallic taste to it as did the lasagna. The onion rings had obviously been cooked in old oil. The pizza reminded me of a high end frozen pizza and even the salad had brown bits in it. Both me and my wife got food poisoning later that night... Don't trust nostalgia and memories. This is NOT the Pizza Palace you grew up loving. Not only is it horrible, there's a HUGE chance that you will get food poisoning like we did. STAY AWAY!!!

I lived in Knoxville 30 years ago and I enjoyed eating at the Pizza Palace. I have family in Knoxville so whenever we are in Knoxville I try to visit the Pizza Palace. You drive up and order from your car and the food is brought to your car by kind and friendly people. The Sirloin Steak Sandwich is the best thing on the menu. It is a big sandwich with more steak than bread. It comes with fries and onion rings. It's the best! The pizza is incredible and very good too and the Greek Salad is delicious.

Google
Our order was brought to us in a timely manner. It was correct and hot the staff was very friendly and nice. We ordered the spaghetti with meat sauce and a ham and cheese on toast sandwich. We both enjoyed our meals. The wait was very short after we ordered. The staff did an excellent job and made our experience very pleasant. We will be returning for another meal.

Google
As always, we enjoyed our food. The large cheese pizza and onion rings were a hit! It was my nephew's first time trying Pizza Palace and, with his mouth full, he gave a thumbs up! He is looking forward to his next experience. It has been a family favorite for more than 50 years.

Google
The food here is always delicious! It's been a family favorite all my life and ever since my parents were young. A while back my parents went there to pick up their order and had a flat tire. The owners/staff came out and helped change the tire and even remade the order because they didn't want my parents to leave with cold food. These are great people!

Yelp
Historic hometown Greek-Italian Americana pizza drive-in with good hand tossed pizzas, big Greek salad full of feta, Italian entrees, sandwiches and beer. Eat in your car or take it home. Very nice people but plan to take your time getting served as it's home made and locally operated. Love!

Yelp
Staff was great. Made us feel like family when ordering. To note: it's a drive-in style restaurant but we thought there was seating inside. There's not. So we ordered at the counter, since we were inside, and took it to the car to eat. Order the pizza. Zero complaints. A great pizza. Side salad was simple but what I was looking for. Skip the onion rings. We ate a couple and tossed the rest. They are hand battered but the batter had zero flavor. It tasted like flour and cornmeal and that's it. Really missing seasoning. Maybe it was just not my style. Idk. Ketchup couldn't save them. But. That's just my opinion.

Yelp
This place is great. I love getting take-away from here. The salads are great-very fresh and if you like Roquefort blue cheese dressing, you're in luck cause their's is the best! They make stuff fresh so allow a little time for them to make it and bring cash, cause that's all they take. And don't forget the onion rings. You won't be sorry.

Yelp
Recently spent some time in Knoxville, TN and found out they had a 'pizza drive-in' called Pizza Palace! I've never been to a drive-in pizza place, so had to give it a try. The food itself is average, but the experience was really cool. Like a typical drive-in (like Sonic), you find a parking spot, check out the menu and press the button to order. Like a movie, the speakers are very old, making it very hard to hear the person taking your order, but we managed. Unlike most places, Pizza Palace only takes cash, so when they bring the order to your car, you pay at that point. Overall service was fast and friendly. Food was hot and fresh. Again not the best pizza or wings, but experience definitely makes this place worth a visit!

Yelp
Delicious pizza with great crust and sauce and friendly servers. 99% of times I order pizza, it's from Pizza Palace

Yelp
I was finally able to stop at Pizza Palace. I have been looking forward to trying this place for quite some time. I love nostalgic local places like this. I have to say that the wait was worth it. One thing to note, they only take cash, but they have an ATM of sorts if you forget. Just order first, then go inside to pay or you can order inside. I got pizza and onion rings. I really wanted the onion rings. A half order is huge. They were phenomenal! Probably in my top 3 that I've had. The pizza was really good and worth going just for that, but get the onion rings too. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I wish I lived closer, but probably best for my health. If you are in Knoxville, don't hesitate to check out the Pizza Palace and get the onion rings to go with whatever else you want.
google avatar

Cindy E.

Yelp
I'll start with how good the pizza and onion rings were. One of the best pizzas I've ever had and the onion rings were on point. Next time I'll be prepared that there's no seating inside and it's only to go or order in your car at the drive up parking spots. We went inside to order and I gotta say all of the staff are definitely lacking friendliness. Not only when you order but also when they bring your food to your car. A little smile goes a long ways to your customers.
google avatar

Yelp
Absolutely the best onion rings in the world ! Seriously.. I could literally just eat a plate of those things and call it one ! Am not even playin'!
google avatar

Robert L.

Yelp
Great burgers! The main reason I go here is to get their onion rings! If you haven't tried their homemade onion rings then you haven't lived yet!!

Yelp
To each their own and today, my own was a stop at this drive-up pizza and spaghetti joint. I did manage to fit my Sprinter van into the spot though it was a tight fit. After hitting the button and placing my order, it only took about 12 minutes for my order to be prepared and brought out to me. A very nice lady with a big smile handed it over, made change, and I was on my way. I opted not to eat in the van, taking it with me for about 15 minutes down the highway to a rest area. The spaghetti with meatballs was a big portion. Hearty sauce and al dente noodles, I managed to eat the whole thing without spilling one drop on my shirt. That's a plus. The small "super" pizza was also delicious though a bit underdone for my taste. Doughy crust, lots of toppings (pepperoni, onions, peppers, sausage and more), it was nicely sliced. As I'd just finished the pasta, I only had one slice with dinner and the rest for lunch the next day. The veggies were quite crunchy and not cooked much. If that's how you like your onions and peppers, you'll love it. I'm glad I was able to hit up this spot. Good stuff. [Review 19566 overall - 390 in Tennessee - 537 of 2023.]

Yelp
I had a large pizza with pepperoni, feta cheese and anchovies, it was a 10. Service was a 2 ambiance was a 2.

Yelp
Food is always the best. The best pizza in Knoxville We live in Sevierville and only get our Pizza from Pizza Palace. I've been going there for 45 years. The curb service ladies are adorable, friendly and helpful. 10 stars!!!

Yelp
This review would have been better, because the pizza was good, but when my son went to pick up the pizzas for our family gathering he was informed that the total was $172, but the transaction "had to end in zero or five". When he tried to enter $175, they said he had to pay $185. Asking for a tip is one thing, forcing someone to overpay is another. I guess we paid the out of towner fee, but it wasn't appreciated. Since we had 30 people gathered to eat it really wasn't an option to go somewhere else at that point, I guess we know one place to avoid next time we're in town

Yelp
This was the first time we have been to Pizza Palace. Many people have recommended to try this place out. I decided to call ahead and then pick it up since it's about 25 mins from my house. The staff were very kind and respectful on the phone and in person. They had big smiles and that made it feel very welcoming since it's not in the best part of town. It has a cool drive in feel for sure. I could only imagine how cool this place was during it's prime. Now to the food. We did not need a full order of the onion rings, half would have been plenty for sure. They were very fresh and hot when I picked up the food, you can tell they are made in house. The flavor was decent but could maybe use a little more seasoning, just my opinion. I would probably try them again. The pizza was great, I mean if you like thinner crust pizza with great flavor this is your spot. There is a lot of cheese on the pizza so you will have some grease. The flavor was outstanding and I for sure will be ordering it again. The child's meat sauce spaghetti was well for sure the star item, I would have never imagined the sauce was going to have the flavor it did. Amazing and we will for sure be trying more of their bone pizza options too. Price: it's not cheap but I wouldn't say it was real expensive either. I recommend giving them a try.

Yelp
This is an Ole School favorite! I love everything I order here. How could you not??? It reminds you of the old drive up diners in the 1950s. The food is always good. We had the Super Homemade Pizza Pie and an order hot wings. Loved it!

Melissa K.

Yelp
New to Knoxville. Pizza Palace had high ratings as the best pizza in Knoxville. We decided to get some as takeout for a birthday, and ordered by phone, picked up, and took it home. Hairy pizza was not the vibe. The first bite had a long hair, so it was a $50 lesson learned. Now it's in the trash, and we are going out to eat.

Yelp
I drive 18 miles one way for this drive up! No joke I needed some good cheesy pizza and boy did we get it! Along with amazing spaghetti and the worlds most unique and delicious chef salad to ever exist. Don't expect it fast because it's all fresh cooked to order and we'll worth it.
google avatar

Christina C.

Yelp
The pizza is great but the onion rings are my personal favorite!! I never expected to get as much as I did lol it was game day (Go VOLS) so I ate on them for hours!

Yelp
I saw this restaurant was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives so we decided to pay it a visit. When we arrived we were really shocked that no updates seem to have been made since the show aired. The neighborhood is pretty run down and initially we were concerned about patronizing the location but looks can definitely be deceiving. When I say the pizza was AMAZING, it was AMAZING. The crust was perfect, the cheese was melted to the Gods and the flavors were out of this world. I guess the old saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" fits this place perfectly.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is a mainstay of Knoxville. An old fashioned drive-in and they only accept cash. The soaker boxes, music playing, and drive-in feel adds to the overall atmosphere of the place. And if you aren't getting a large pizza and an order of onion rings, what are you doing?
google avatar

Yelp
Truly a hole in the wall . Enjoyed the pizza today however my wife ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and was truly disappointed that it was served with a pickle and a pepper served on top of the bun . She does not like either of those two and would have appreciated that those items been served on the side NOT atop her bun leaking their flavor and juices throughout the bun . Other than this we received prompt and courteous service. Next time we would stick with the pizza... Hope management decides to make the change and not disappoint future folks.

Yelp
I just found some of the best pizza ever. I enjoyed the crust to sauce to cheese ratio. It was amazing. The cheese was perfection. It was a flavor journey for sure. You order your pizza from your car. It took about 10 to 15 minutes to get the pizza which in my mind is fast as all get out for a pizza. A reminder is that it is cash only. The staff was amazing that I interacted with.

Yelp
Lived in Knoxville for almost 70 years, I know I have been to the Palace before but it has been a long time. I have to say the pizza is outstanding. Onion rings are excellent as well. You will not be disappointed.

Yelp
I pass thru Knoxville a couple time a year, I recall stopping here several years ago after they got their we'll deserved mention, on Triple D... It's a drive up pizza place, you order from your car, they bring the food out on a tray, you eat in your car, cheap thrills really. We ordered a Greek salad, the feta cheese was outstanding the Greek olives were fine, but have pits, so beware. It was good. Had a pizza with the salad and it was great. Good cheese to tomato ratio, crust was good, had pepperoni, hard to go wrong with that, it was fine. One might expect the bathroom to be less the 5 stars, after all there was an outside bathroom entrance, but gotta say, the bathroom was very clean, and worth a mention.

Yelp
The salad and spaghetti is so delicious! The service is kinda slow- so make sure to order with plenty of time. I normally order my takeout food in advance. This place has been a staple in Knoxville for quite some time for a reason.

Yelp
Wow, wow, and wow..... this food was phenomenal. My Pizza was a small and I got a half order of onion rings.... This is officially lunch and dinner. I got a chance to taste the Famous Spaghetti, Jesus that was good. If you're ever in Knoxvill, TN this is a must stop. You will be doing yourself a disservice if you come to town and don't get a slice. The Owner Charles and his wonderful safe were amazing!!!!! So glade I came from the West side of town to the East side. Fat, full, and HAPPY is what I am!!!!! - Chef j.Black #DinersDiveInsAndDives

Yelp
I still stand behind my original review! Pizza Palace is a true gem in a hole in the wall kind of way. Their quality is consistent and you know what you're getting with each and every visit. During Covid-19 this was an obvious choice for take-out! With the old school drive-in style of ordering you don't even have to get out of your car. They have even eliminated the option to go inside, whether to dine or pay. I'm still a fan of their pizza. Love to get the greek pizza (which is just feta cheese) and add black olives. So yummy! It's also still impossible for me to go to Pizza Palace and not order their spaghetti with pepperoni. The garlic bread that comes with it isn't great, but who has room for it anyway after attempting to eat their giant styrofoam container of noodles. I've also now tried their signature burger and didn't love it. It's served with their spaghetti sauce on top and in theory sounds amazing. Sadly, it's not. I found it to be pretty muted when it comes to flavor and soggy. I'm not mad about it. There are still a bazillion things on the menu that are super tasty.

Yelp
I saw a lot of good reviews for this place so we decided to try it. Overall- really good pizza. I love their crust and think their sauce has great flavor as well. My husband devoured his pizza faster than I knew was humanly possible- so it's a win in his book too. I like that it's in an old building where you can order from your car using a speaker system. Feels retro and it's kinda fun! My only downsides- it was a little pricy, they only take cash and ranch/ dressing sides are $1.50 (and it wasn't very good).

Yelp
I saw this place on DDD and thought it would be good. Even asked my wife why she hadn't taken me here before? So, tonight after our son's basketball game, we decided to call ahead and order. We ordered a large onion ring, lg pepperoni pizza and the 1/2 chicken dinner. Now the onion rings were fine and the pizza was ok. The chicken was terrible. How do you over cook the one item you are known for?? It was completely dried out. Literally did not eat it. Have to say that I won't be returning. Lost me on the first try.

Steve J.

Yelp
I have gone to this great restaurant for 50 years. All the food is great but I find myself ordering the best onion rings in the world. The pizza is great !!!!
google avatar

Michael B.

Yelp
Saw them on triple D. Trippy set up, Italian place at an A&W or Sonic drive in building. I'm originally from Chicago but do not consider myself a pizza snob. Ordered a sausage pizza and an order of spaghetti and meat sauce. Pizza had crumbled sausage and we also enjoyed the sauce and crust. The spaghetti and meat sauce was savory and definitely in the comfort food realm. Rolling through Knoxville they are a definite must try!!
google avatar

Butch H.

Yelp
Pizza was good but not great but OMG those onion rings are amazing. Will definitely go back for the onion rings
google avatar

Tracy L.

Yelp
Some of the best pizza in Knoxville! Wish there was a larger pizza than 14". Prices are higher than some of the other local pizza places, but the pizza is BETTER.

Yelp
I went to 3 pizza places in Tennessee. I'd rate them in this order... 1. Hard Knox Pizza 2. Pizza Palace 3. MafioZas (in Nashville) Pizza Palace is a drive up pizza place, kinda like Sonic. That's a fun gimmic and would be worth checking out for that reason alone. They claim to be the first pizza joint in all of Knoxville. The pizza was good, but not exceptional. It tasted a step above Pizza Hut and I'm sure I've had better pizza at Papa Johns. The pizza was cheesy to the Max, which I really appreciate. It turned out a little greasy and the pepperonis tasted a little cheap. The crust was so good. It was flaky and delicious. I would describe it as a "biscuit crust". There was a lot of cheese and pepperoni compared to the amount of crust. Plus the little crust it had was very delicious and I looked forward to eating. I was disappointed that didn't have any seating inside the store or picnic tables outside, so I was forced to eat in my car. And don't plan to pay with a debit card, because they will make you come inside the store to pay, which was really annoying. For the right person, this might be their favorite pizza place. It was a little expensive for the quality of pizza. It was more comparable to a fast food joint rather than one of the nicer, sit down pizza joints. I would go back, but it wouldn't be my first choice. Nice place to try at least once when visiting Knoxville.

Yelp
A historic piece of Knoxville Americana. It does look like much. Does not appear to have been updated since the 1960's. That's part of the appeal. At 1st glance"No way this hole in the wall has good pizza". Your correct, it has very good pizza. Some rave about the spaghetti, but I'm not a fan of their spaghetti. The pizza is the reason to visit. Cheese, crust and sauce are all 3 outstanding. I will drive the 30 mins when I'm out, to go get it. So much better than chain delivery pizza, but the same pricing. The service is always good. Typically under promise and over deliver. You want to call ahead and then go pick up your order. It's always ready before or right at your expected pick up time. If you wait until you arrive, could be up to a 45 min wait. If it's your 1st time, there is no inside seating. Drive up dinner style, eat it in your car is the only dine on site option. I have taken a folding picnic table and chairs with me on a fall evening, and enjoyed the local scenery from the back of my truck.

Yelp
Best pizza in the hood! The onion rings are the best ever. Been going here since I could walk.
google avatar

W D.

Yelp
Their pizza crust is perfection. Best to eat fresh while there in your car. Though they are known for good traditional pizza, I think their salads are the best in town. Homemade blue cheese. Homemade Italian dressing. Their Greek salad contains lots of feta and also Kalamata olives.
google avatar

Lora Y.

Yelp
The food is stellar. Not matter what you get from burgers to wings to onion rings to the prize winning pizza, it's all well worth the drive and wait. But do pack your patience as the wait will be a good while.

Ben B.

Yelp
I was disappointed. We got a large pizza and onion rings - plenty of food, but the taste was mediocre. The pizza was just ok and the onion ring batter was lacking something. The staff was very friendly and the food came out hot, but that couldn't salvage dinner for me. I will go back and try them again - hopefully they were having an off night.
google avatar

Mom R.

Yelp
The food is amazing but they do not accept debit cards so come with cash or you have to pay there ATM machine.
google avatar

Breanna H.

Yelp
It's a drive in and they have no tables outside so plan to eat in your car. They are pretty pricey! We got the supreme pizza and it was sloppy and not great. We also got the veal spaghetti, that comes with a salad, TWO onion rings and maybe a handful of spaghetti. I was not impressed at all their onion rings have no flavor at all! The spaghetti sauce is very bland. The Veal is not great Ethier. The garlic bread has no garlic and barley toasted it's like a piece of bread with a speck of butter. Definitely wont go back because none of it was worth 50 dollars.
google avatar

Kelly C.

Yelp
Onion rings are amazing. We ordered a pizza and it was very good. We got pepperoni and mushroom. I like my pizza cooked pretty well done so I should've asked for that. Hope to return soon!

Yelp
City staple, but I'm not a Knoxville native, so it was good, but again not from here so not a raving fan. But can see why locals are, friendly ppl and very unique

Yelp
I love the pizza and chef salad with their Italian dressing!!! The service is always awesome!!!!

Yelp
Pizza Palace is our favorite local pizza shop. The pizza is always delicious and service is friendly & efficient. We return often for the pizza and onion rings.

Yelp
We ordered a medium vege pizza and it was the BEST PIZZA I ever ate! My husband and I sat in the parking lot and devoured the whole thing. The sauce was so creamy and the toppings were generous. A half order of onion rings was huge! They were seasoned and crispy on the outside and succulent and sweet on the inside. We never made it to the Greek salad. It looks beautiful and delicious but at this point we'll have to save it for dinner. Guy, you did it again! A drive in pizza restaurant...who knew?

Marina R.

Yelp
We were visiting Knoxville 11/3/23-11/5/23 from Columbia, SC as a planned 'quick' trip and added a stop here to our must see list after hearing that it was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. Even the front desk at our hotel recommended it was not to be missed. Absolutely delightful! The staff was friendly and engaging. The atmosphere was inviting and relaxing after 6 hours on the road. The food was excellent - large pepperoni pizza, several sandwiches and the HIGHLY recommended large order of onion rings. Not sure when we will get back but if you are passing through or planning a stay, this is a need to be there stop to add to your trip!
google avatar

Trish M.

Yelp
My husband and I like to try restaurants that we saw on tv. So we took a small detour and stopped here for their famous onion rings and pizza. IT WAS WORTH IT!! We stopped in for lunch on a Sunday. Decided to have the waitress come to our window to take our order and deliver it to our window. We ordered the half order of onion rings and a 12" medium pepperoni pizza. The onion rings only being a half order were HUGE! I cannot stress this enough the portion & each ring were HUGE! They were also so tasty. The perfect crunch. The pizza for it being only a medium it was huge. It was enough for 4 people to eat on. It was piping hot, super cheesy, and the crust was just right. I was overly impressed with what we ordered. The price was super affordable for the large portions you get. If this place was close to my home I would be in trouble. It is worth the stop.

Yelp
Love a good ole cheese pizza with a Greek salad on the side. Great place! Been taking my wife here for years she loves it every time
