The 15 Best Restaurants in Lawrence, Home of the University of Kansas | Eater

"Every college town needs a cheap place that’s open late. Pizza Shuttle has been that place for KU, and has remained students’ go-to source for late-night munchies since 1984. For $9, a hungry customer can get a 10-inch specialty pie made with quality ingredients that aren’t on the menu at chain pizza restaurants. Pizza Shuttle is open until 2 a.m. on weekdays and 3 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays for delivery and in-person dining." - Erin Socha

Our favorite pizza place. It's in The Malls Shopping Center at 23rd and Louisiana Streets now. We love their Super Shuttle pizza (everything). Plenty of eat-in tables that could easily accommodate a small group. Very prompt and polite service but it is order at the counter. They have a large variety of pizzas and some are quite unusual.

I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised how big the kitchen area was given it’s a pizza joint in this BIG college (university) town! This was quite the operation - visiting my son who had ventured in himself prior, it was by coincidence we decided to eat here - we were giving our son the better experience of having him do his laundry faster at Lawrence Laundromat instead of one load at a time at his apartment facility. Anyways, so many menu items to choose from, good value and serving size and so much better than the big chain pizza restaurants. Pictured (minus one slice) was me and my wife’s 10” Super Shuttle which came with a beverage. Unless my boy finds a different place that he thinks we should try, this will definitely be our pizza of choice in Lawrence.

I got the walk-in special, a small one-topping pizza and drink for $6. I chose onions as my topping. They were very poorly cut in large, irregular shapes. There was nothing special about the sauce or the cheese, pretty generic, and my pizza had a skimpy amount of cheese. The crust was bland and kinda cardboardy, similar to a mediocre frozen pizza. Promptly served. Price-wise a good bargain. Open late. For these reasons I might try again. But if I do try again and the pizza quality is not better than my first time there, I don't think I'd go back there a third time.

Love how they’re now closer to Haskell side. My awesome wife was craving some pizza and Pizza shuttle has always been the best. Love how they kept the art from the ceiling and added it in the new building. There’s more parking in this strip mall area. Great folks there and I recommend call ahead to get them pizza if you don’t want to wait a bit. Enjoy the ceiling and art though. Always try their cream cheese pizzas!

The pizza was delicious and surface of the sun hot. Service was good, atmosphere was casual and cool, could definitely have been cleaner though. We tried the Super Shuttle and the Garlic Chicken, both really tasty. We would definitely eat there again, if in Lawrence. A plus that they have Pepsi products!

My husband and I went in to look at the menu, thinking about ordering while doing laundry next door. When the large menu board didn't tell us how big the different pizza sizes were we looked for information elsewhere, on the paper menu we saw on the fridge. A worker finally came up and was rude and acted annoyed that we were in the store. I mentioned I didn't see the sizes and thanked her for the menu with those details. She got smart and said, yeah well it's here, there and there, as she pointed around at the different places where I couldve found that information. She walked away and didn't come back to see if we wanted to order anything. We turned and walked out. Clearly pizza shuttle doesn't want our business. I suggest they train their staff on customer service. We won't ever try this place.

I just ordered delivery and it sounded like the guy on the phone was not happy he was there, honestly no one likes working, that is ok. I get my delivery honestly really fast, super nice since they are usually super busy, maybe 20 minutes max. But then we saw our three-fer came with 2 drinks and one of the pizzas are made wrong. (Not a huge deal) I honestly order here every other weekend so I thought maybe we could get a coupon for the next time we call in. I am not a confrontational person and I just wanted to see if we could make this right. I call in a nice guy answers. He then goes silent and then a guy name Taylor (said he was a manager) got on the phone and said “I don’t know why I was handed a phone…” I then try to continue about getting a refund or coupon because I don’t need an extra pizza. He then said “oh, the order a repeated 3 times to you and you didn’t correct?” Probably not the exact wording, but just as aggressive. I then try to calm him down and explain I just wanted a refund/coupon for the missing drink and wrong pizza, he then continued to speak over me, and hung up. He was saying that they are making a new pizza and it will be here soon. After that I don’t think the pizza will be safe to eat. (I’ve worked in food) I call back with little hesitation to tell him that I do not need the pizza re-delivered and I am ok. Honestly I would like to speak to a different manager at this point. I call back asking for someone else than Taylor. He still was put on the phone. I explain that I was just on the phone with him and I would not need the pizza delivered. He then said “oh, we spoke like 25 minutes ago, the pizza is already in the oven and should be heading to you soon” it has only been 2 minutes between the 2 calls… he also said “I am sorry if you think I hung up on you”…I told him I was uncomfortable at this point and he then regurgitates the regular manager come back “I am sorry you feel that way” (which can go hard if I the manager isn’t bad at their job) the purpose of the second call was just to make sure there wasn’t a fourth pizza being delivered here, and I was ignored again. Honestly I never left a review before, let alone a bad one. I hope this gets to the right people. I do plan to call in the morning and hopefully I could be treated more professionally. I just called in the morning after and spoke with Emma the morning manager, and she was amazing! Told me she will be giving me a refund/discount that I asked for the first time! She was so nice and sympathetic and she deserves a raise!!! This is how a professional woman shows her power, truly a bigger person. I hope Taylor learns his lesson or even losses his job. (A little extreme, but that is how I feel) Emma turned this one start experience into a five star review, I will be coming back as long as never speak to Taylor again. Thank you Emma!

A true local delicacy. All you have to do is walk in and you can purchase a fresly made and piping hot 10-in pizza with one topping and a drink for $6. The employees are always nice and courteous. Best casual pizza joint in town
