Pizza Taglio - Review - East Liberty - Pittsburgh - The Infatuation

"Pittsburgh doesn’t have much of a BYO scene, which makes Pizza Taglio a good place to know about. But even if they had a full wine list, we’d still love this East Liberty spot for their Roman-style pizzas, baked in seconds in their wood-fired oven. Our favorite pies include the Greenpointer with hot honey, and the Pig Face with guanciale, pecorino, and an egg yolk on top. Make it a pizza one-two punch by grabbing one pie here, and then visiting Dinette just across the street." - Madeline Quigley

I have lived in Pittsburgh for four years and this is the best pizza I've had while I've been here. The crust this thin and crispy, the ingredients are fresh, and their specialty pizzas are an absolute burst of flavor from the first bite to the last. Especially the Greenpoint. If you have not been here yet, go here. If you are planning on going here, move your plans forward. It's a beautiful thing. They got the goods.

Live fired pizza in E liberty. Be adventurous and order one of the special pies. BYOB. Corkage fee applies.

Best crust in Pittsburgh. The hot honey is amazing and goes well with everything. Menu isn't huge but everything on it is excellent.

It was the best wood fired pizza I've had here in the city. I also had this puff pastry dessert here that absolutely knocked me over. Took an "Adios" pie to go, followed the reheat advice of Mr. Waymon the next day... It was perfection. 2nd day pizza that still holds up?! I'll definitely be back.

The pizza is pretty close to the ones in Rome, but there are other places in Pittsburgh with the same style for cheaper. Too expensive for the incredibly small portion size.

Good pizza! Nice atmosphere. They had actually run out of dough for thicker crust just as we'd walked in, so they gave us a second thin crust pizza on-the-house, which was a nice gesture and good customer service! The owner came out and talked with us about the pizza and chatted with us for a while. He was a nice guy, and our waitress was nice as well. Good experience!

The food is amazing! Everything we have ordered there has been delicious. The flavors works fantastically together. The crust is the perfect texture and lightness. The service is not anywhere near as good. We were in a two top by the windows. While we did get our table in a fast time, it was the rest of the experience that was unpleasant. We ordered two pizzas, they were delivered, and the waitress completely ignored us. We actually wanted to order more, but after we didn't see her for about half an hour, she just dropped the check. Someone else brought our card back. It was busy, but she stopped at the table next to us and didn't look at us. I know a review like this sounds demanding, but I don't really want much. Letting us order more food and open a bottle of wine shouldn't be a challenge.

The first time I came to Pizza Taglio it was with a coworker from the Naples region of Italy. His expectations were low that we’d find him good, authentic pizza in Pittsburgh, but he was blown away. He gave us his seal of approval on the pizza, we had a great meal with BYOB drinks, and enjoyed the night. This is now our go to pizza place for takeout. The staff are super friendly and the owner is always in the shop making sure everything is made to the highest quality. Great place!

Yelp
4/23/25 Ate List: The Peppy Pep - 7.1 Cute spot, great vibe. The peppy pep - is their signature and the one most of our group liked. The jalapeños were a bit much for me, in conjunction with a burnt crust. I'd lean more towards getting something more classic. Likely will give this spot another try but hoping it wins me over more next time. My Fiancée liked it a lot though, much more than myself.

Yelp
I ordered takeout from Woodfired recently. I ordered the Peppy Pep pizza (red sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, pickled jalepenos, and hot honey), and a Caesar salad. I also ordered a side of their ranch. The pickup process was easy and the staff were friendly. My pizza was good, but I am interested in trying pizza to see what it's like. They have some fun pizza options such as a classic margherita (also available as a vegan option), a mushroom pie, cacio y Pepe, and a buffalo chicken pie. I would say my favorite thing I tried was the ranch. They are conveniently located next to Lorelei so you can grab food and hang out next door!

Yelp
Seriously killer pizzas! Woodfired is baking their pizzas in the Italian-built wood-fired oven in the Highland Avenue shop that previously housed Pizza Taglio! These pizzas are crafted with a nice hand; they keep their toppings in check, which really allows their dough, oven, and ingredient quality to shine through. I highly recommend the Cacio e Pepe pizza! If you are looking to dine in, you will most likely enjoy cocktails next door in the lovely vibes of Lorelei! There is a service window between the two establishments that allows you to join the beer and cocktails of Lorelei, with the delicious pizza of Woodfired!

Yelp
Had the margarita pizza, it was perfect! Just the right amount of sauce cheese and basil! It's a thin crust wood fired pizza and is just delicious
