"Looking to celebrate Hanukkah without the meat? Taste of Tel Aviv’s menu features a mix of Mediterranean flavors (think shakshuka, hummus, or sabich, a pita sandwich stuffed with fried eggplant, hard-boiled eggs, Israeli salad, and pickles) and American classics (think pizza, pasta, or Impossible burgers). The menu has kosher, gluten-free, and vegan options, making this Southwest Houston-area restaurant a great option to accommodate your entire party’s dietary preferences." - Lane Gillespie

Vibe- Not going to lie, this spot is in a random strip center that might turn you off (it was a different food spot before and Taste of Tel Aviv is not yet up) but the food is worth it and so is the customer service. From the conversation I had with the guy that took my order, they have been open for a little amount of time. I was very intrigued by the pictures of Israel on the wall. The name of the restaurant has a city in Israel in it, Tel Avia! Customer service- Amazing, the guy that took my order was so nice. Food/drinks- I got the vegan nachos and the falafel starter; they were both full of flavor. Parking- There’s about 40 parking spots in the lot.

We came with a $50 gift certificate I'd won in a silent auction a few months. Apparently there's a new owner. To their great credit even though they hadn't written the gift certificate (the prior owner had done so, it seems) they honored it. We had falafel, a calzone, and margherita pizza. Everything was fresh and delicious. The person at the counter was very friendly and helpful.

I brought a friend here years ago, when it was under different management, and I was honestly embarrassed at the decor, service, and bad food. Now, under new management, everything has changed. The restaurant is much more aesthetically pleasing, with a nice, open, clean space, modern tables, and decor. If you keep kosher and need an option for a good spot, this is no-fail. Not only do they have your dairy options (pizza, falafel, sushi, etc.), but next door is Shawarma TLV, where you can get shawarmas and shnitzel sandwiches. (Also, a tip: Rather than use UberEats, try FonFon Delivery. They're constantly doing deliveries out of this establishment, and they don't charge extra fees, running up your bill, like UberEats does.)

I came here out of sheer curiosity, and yes, they have an Israeli/Mediterranean menu, a pizza menu, and a sushi menu. 😂 it's a cool place! very cute, very chill, and they do delivery/takeout (not sure if it's DoorDash or what but I saw a guy pick up a bunch of food). sushi was the size of my arm! 😳 amazing portions. hummus was decent. pita was deliciously floofy 😋 no idea what tea this is but I also like it! and they play what I assume is Israeli music on the radio, a huge relief from the annoying pop music that's everywhere. they also have wifi. 📶 didn't order much, but I'm looking forward to eventually trying everything on their menu!

Google
This is such a great find. Very vegetarian friendly. There are pizzas and sushi in addition to authentic Israeli fare. The mint lemonade is perfect! Highly recommended!

Google
From the moment you step through the door you are greeted with the warmest smile you'll ever see from the owner! He graciously took my order and offered me the best drink I have ever had! Frozen lemonade with fresh mint! This drink here is the truth! I'm not even a fan of mint but this has blown my mind! Please come by and order this drink! You will not regret it!

Google
I was skeptical. A Jewish sushi place on Hillcroft??? Yep! Their sushi rolls are legit! I was very impressed by the freshness and quality. The staff was very kind, and gave me a free sample of a frozen drink they were working on. I will definitely go back to try some other menu items!

Yelp
I reviewed a restaurant at this location about 4 years ago. This is now a different business with different owners. They have a few vegan options that are very good...and I usually don't do many vegan places. The personal sized Greek pizza was very good, mozzarella and feta cheeses, red onion, fresh cut tomatos andblack olives, they brought out three kinds of sauces for the pie, a garlic sauce that was our fave....and my wife's falafel starter plate with tahini sauce. They have a cold box full of canned and bottled drinks. We liked the food and the people were friendly. Slightly on the pricy side. We took home half of my pie and half of the falefals, I'll add some pepperoni to the pie and make it even better.

Chris S.

Yelp
Excellent food and a good variety of choices. Also the staff and owner were very patient with all my questions. I don't usually write reviews but this was such a wonderful surprise that I had to let post a review on this place.

Yelp
A small bag of pita bread (5pc) cost $15 I ordered a take-out consisting of a small pizza and the small bag of pita bread, totaling $30.14

Yelp
Fantastic food, and extremely authentic taste of Tel Aviv! Staff was very friendly and polite! Highly recommended

Amanda H.

Yelp
Wonderful place to eat! The food and service are both great and the people are friendly!

Yelp
The area where this location resides is sketchy-looking. At first, the person I arrived with didn't want to go into the restaurant. There is a drugstore nearby and the location is in a building that doesn't look very promising. However, when we walked in, jeez were we surprised! The interior was very clean, and the decorations were very cute and modern-looking inside. The bathrooms were clean. You cannot purchase Challah as a side, you have to purchase the whole loaf. The Challah was great and our hostess asked us to warm it up in either an oven that had meat inside of it or another oven without meat, so they are friendly towards religious diets. We saw a lot of Jewish people inside so it seems to be a great place for those who follow the Kosher diet. The samurai roll was good but I wished they used real cream cheese instead of a dairy-free alternative. The shakshuka was great, and I love shakshuka so I have had a lot of shakshukas to go off of. Maybe I'd just want a bit more seasoning and I could have asked for some feta on top. Overall a bit pricey but still great. I also had a Jewish juice drink with my meal and it was very sweet and tasted great. You get drinks from the refrigerator and you pay at the end of your meal at the cashier. This is an interesting place because it combines sushi with a Jewish/ Mediterranean cuisine. So, if you and a friend are craving two different cuisines, you should stop by here!

Yelp
My husband and I were driving through town to go to the HEB for some kosher items. I recommend we eat some israeli food as it has been missing in our lives since our move from LA. LA has some amazing israeli food that is good quality and reasonably priced. I didn't focus on the price as I said to nyself, how mich can a plate of hummus and falafel cost. Well that plate, which didn't have much hummus and some overly cooked falafel cost $15.99, which is a rip-off. A burekas with cheese, bad tahina, was $15. A bag of day old pita bread was $7. Our bill with some drinks were over $75. I can get a ln amazing meal for that kind of price. I am all about supporting local businesses and I don't necessarily keep kosher but I thought this was completely outrageous. I am sorry but I will most likely not coming back here.

Tawonda A.

Yelp
Nice cozy little spot. The food was amazing, the customer service was prime and they offered to fulfill anything on the menu as vegan. Great find on my visit from Colorado.

Yelp
The best food i had ever !!!!!! On our way to the west We stopped on Houston and find this place. Everything is amazing and clean. The owner is very kind and make sure that we are happy.

Mar C.

Yelp
Loved the shakahukah!! The hummus was sooo creamy and tasty. I kept eating and eating even though I was full. I'll be back!!

Leah E.

Yelp
As a new Houston resident, I was really excited to try the local kosher eats, which aren't many. Coming from LA with an abundance of kosher foods, I've been pretty spoiled. My experience here was really pretty disappointing. I spent $70 for two people to eat at a walk up and order establishment, with subpar food.

Yehuda B.

Yelp
I like the Israeli vibe and the food is delicious and the service is good and quickly

Ellie B.

Yelp
I must admit that the Jachnun, shakshuka, and Boureka were tasty, however the price of each item was sky high compared to the small portions. Judging by the prices, we assumed we'd probably have at least some leftovers, which turned out to be wishful thinking. Unless prices come down drastically, we won't be eating there again.

Nadia V.

Yelp
Ordered a falafel pita but got a plate. However, the falafel was amazing. I do wish they gave you more tahini sauce for to-go orders. The plate comes with fries and those were good too. The hubb has a shawarma pits but he complained the meat was too fatty. But we would give this place another chance!

Antonio H.

Yelp
In a nondescript strip centre on Hillcroft. This place delivers good kosher pitas falafel dishes hummus. ITT definitely worth the trip outstanding service great food a first choice. Good food reasonable prices large portions.

Roy H.

Yelp
The place is very welcoming and has a good quality food. Also very clean and inviting. Food was delicious and serve with smile of the staff. Very recommended.

Yelp
Great local spot. Been here twice for lunch and will bring the family there for dinner. Tiny place probably have 4 tables. Food always fresh and tasty, like my mom is I the back making a nice meal.

Yelp
It's always a hit or miss finding good kosher food when traveling. Fortunately this hit the mark. The food was delicious. My family ate here every night of our stay. I look forward to coming back and eating here again. Hopefully they will become a chain and open up a location close to us in Beverly Hills CA.

Yelp
I was greeted with a huge smile on the men's face. Ordered the falafel sandwich in a pita pocket. Pita was heavenly and the falafel Krispy and hot. Was ready for a second sandwich, but was full from the first one. I'll be back...

Morgan J.

Yelp
Wow, I got the Falafel Pita filled with everything and it was the best I've had in Houston! The pita is super fresh, light fluffy and not too chewy. The falafel itself was very flavorful and light and not dense. The salad inside were fresh and wonderful. All in all, go try it!!

Mickey D.

Yelp
Customer service here is awful. They always mess up an order or take what too long. When you call them, they can't understand what you're saying. I let it go a few times, but tonight I found a hair in my tahini. (picture attached)

Jay H.

Yelp
Exceeded my expectations....great falafel sandwich and their pita as well as their bourekas are as good as it gets in Houston. Friendly, hospitable service, particularly if you show a congenial attitude. As a vegan, most other dishes are not for me, but they look yummy and people around me seemed satisfied. It is a little bit of home for Israelis and they share it willingly.

Kevin B.

Yelp
Amazing food! Service was excellent. Restaurant is beautiful. Pizza, fish, hummus. So fresh. Wow!

Marciano E.

Yelp
Uber eats Snitzel pita every day ! One of my favorite spots in town, kosher is my last name owner is an amazing guy coming here once a week or more :)

Nia S.

Yelp
Called to ask about their Kosher options and the lady on the phone told me to "look online". Seriously? What kind of customer service is that?

Shlomi H.

Yelp
After living in Israel for a year I came back home and looked for a place that had shawarma bel laffa. I couldn't find anyplace that had it. Sure there are plenty of shawarma places, mostly Arabic. This place, run by Israelis is the real deal. It was like being on Yaffa st in Jerusalem and biting into a street side shawarma bel laffa! So, so, so, good! The shawarma bel laffa is huge and can feed two easily. Ask for chips (French fries) to be added to your shawarma for extra goodness. Hand cut, crisp, and super yummy. They also have other great items such as fresh baked pita, begets, and laffa. If they ask you if you want your stuff spicy be careful. It's very spicy. And this is coming from a guy who puts sriracha on his sriracha.

Jon D.

Yelp
They have great food in a pita and also in the plates. the meat is great plus the salads, I really like going over there and I will definitely would continue going with my family and friends. one of the best places in the area

Nitzan G.

Yelp
Most amazing place! I love the atmosphere, great authentic Israeli food! The pitas are the BEST!

Peter G.

Yelp
This place is pretty authentic Israeli. I come here with my Israeli friends often. Their Shuarma is really Good and so is their bread. I'm giving this place a 4 because that Russian woman that works there is a total bitch. But that's ok.

Edi M.

Yelp
My pita is my first choice for fresh, hot or cold food. Very friendly staff, always making sure that you are 100% happy with the order and the service.

Christina C.

Yelp
My husband and I went here for lunch and we loved it. It is a small cafe/restaturant that gets relatively busy, They have good shwarmas and they are also pretty big and stuffed with goodness. Their french fries are yummy! We will be back because it's good and we live close by.

Jordan C.

Yelp
Amazing food. Always come here for the falafel sandwich and chicken soup:) Overall, delicious food and not bad prices.

Abraham N H.

Yelp
The food is just as good as the food in Israel. Will be coming here every time I come to Houston. Amazing service and very friendly too!

Adam D.

Yelp
Very good food the meet is excellent and the pita bread and salads is in believable I will go with my friends and family again Thanks

Alex Y.

Yelp
What an awesome place to have a chicken shwarma! every time I get there with my family they treat us as their family! Good taste and always feel full.

Mr. And Mrs. O.

Yelp
Food is always dry and tasteless. They charge a lot for what's given. Feels like they take advantage the fact they are the only meat kosher place in town for those prices. I'm done with that place.

Lotus X.

Yelp
I've been here three times. Their pita sandwiches are OK. The platters are way overpriced and lack the quality you'd expect from a Kosher meal. Worst shawarma I've had in my entire life! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Gal Z.

Yelp
The Pita are really great, the place is much better now, service, clean, food, the owner is a very good guy. Finally a good falafel in Houston

Jessica F.

Yelp
We had a terrible experience at Kosher Bite on Sunday night. A group of us went in around 8 and ordered appetizers and entrees. After the appetizers, we waited and waited and waited for the entrees. We were assured multiple times that it was on the way. After about 45 minutes, a man who I think was the owner came over and tried to get us to order desserts. We said, maybe after we get our entrees. We continued to wait but eventually noticed that the employees were starting to leave. Finally, after an hour and a half, we discovered that the kitchen was closed - that our entire order was not turned in. The owner proceeded to get in a screaming argument with the waiter. Then, he blamed us for not reminding him that he hadn't served our food! We were beyond frustrated and he wanted us to pay for the appetizers we had eaten over an hour before. Serious chutzpah!! They need to learn about customer service Houston style - that attitude won't fly here for long.

M B.

Yelp
This is my first Yelp review. Had family from France in town, who keep kosher, so decided to try this place out for dinner. We each chose the plated option of these entrees: falafel, shwarma, & pargiot. Each plate comes with 2 sides - one hot, one cold. The portions are really big, and each dish was really delicious! We all enjoyed the food, and left really full. Also - My Pita bakes their own bread (as the restaurant's name implies), and it's - hands down - the best pita I've ever had. Delicious food + great service = I'll definitely be back (even if I don't keep kosher). Recommend you check this place out! Yum. :)

Sam H.

Yelp
I have been. Coming. Here for a few years. Now and there food is the best will definitely. Recommend. Coming here and enjoing this great place ask them about the daily specials real good home made food

Natalie M.

Yelp
Best falafel sandwich in Houston! Their hummus is a must-order too!! Both a great value for the quality.

Jasmine J.

Yelp
I haven't even tasted the food and know I will not be coming back here again. After standing at the counter for a few minutes. The hostess acted as if she was not going to speak or even say I'll be with you in a moment. It took me putting the menu down and walking away for her to realize I was unhappy with her. And even still I can't get past a snooty attitude and snatching my card. That's too bad too since It was a decent sandwich. I work too hard for my money to go to a 12 dollar sandwich from people who can't even put on a fake smile for my patronage. Smh.

Zain A.

Yelp
My Pita very well seems to be the epitome of a place with a very promising menu on paper but alas not quite the same finished product as one would expect. I went in with reasonably high expectations and ended up disappointed with the quality of food despite the service being personable. The Schnitzel Platter was strictly average because even though the chicken cutlet had a nice crunch to it, the taste was almost non-existent. The tabouli salad and roasted potatoes on the side were nice but one does not primarily pay $14.99 plus taxes for those side items. Furthermore, they charge $15.99 for the Shawarma Platter, which most likely features one of the most underwhelming shawarmas I have had: there's shredded chicken with a roasted texture and once again, not much of a taste to talk home about. The fries and hummus on the side were nothing special either and overall, it seemed like a rather expensive experiment to spend in the neighborhood of 30 bucks on food that the taste buds surely won't remember. Granted, the place looked popular to dine in and to reiterate, service was friendly too. And while doing takeout certainly may have played it's part in limiting the freshness appeal of my food, it was also undeniably low on the taste factor (needed every bit of sauces and flavorful tahini they give as condiments), so I cannot grant any more than a two-star rating.

Fran B.

Yelp
best falafel sandwich that I've had in Houston. I had them add all the sides. The eggplant was delicious. It was a huge sandwich and I could only eat half. The staff is very nice and helpful. I found my place for a huge delicious falafel sandwich in Houston - makes the usual sandwiches look so boring.
