Yelp
8/25/22 HAPPY UPDATE information for AAdvantage Dining members: Apparently, Pizzaboy is part of the American Airlines AAdvantage® miles, and since I paid with my connected credit card, I rec'd AA points! Thanks, Pizzaboy. I LOVE that you are part of this awesome program! It was a great surprise email to receive from AA. We will definitely travel out again because this makes it even more worth the trip!

So, maybe you've seen Smothered on TLC? I have watched it, and the restaurant owners and family are featured on the show. So, we (my cousin and I) decided to head to Edison Park and grab some food.
First, great location. On the SE corner of Northwest Ave and Oliphant, great parking options, and it's just the best part of the neighborhood. (I was born just a few blocks away.)
My cousin was hoping to meet Carlo and Christina, the owners. I was just happy to take the photos for Yelp! LOL
We arrived around 6pm. It was actually pretty empty, but to be fair, it was a Wednesday night.
Pizzaboy's menu is extensive. We placed our food order with Maeve, who was super-kind behind the counter. I informed her about my food allergies. She had to ask about the oil used, and out popped Carlo! What a very nice guy. We went over the allergies, and I was fine.
I ordered their curly fries and eggplant parmesan (sans cheese). My cousin ordered the garden salad with a new york style BBQ chicken pizza.
We grabbed our table. The restaurant was so clean. I notice that kind of stuff.
Maeve brought out our food. The salad was huge. We could not finish it. Fresh lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, and red onion. The croutons were excellent too.
Then Maeve brought out us our main plates. My sandwich was thick and a generous portion. Yikes! A lot of food! The sandwich was delicious, though. The eggplant was cooked perfectly. The Italian bread used was soft yet crunchy. The curly fries were more than the two of us could eat. Think of Checker's french fries, but I think waaaaaay better. The seasoning was fantastic! My cousin enjoyed her BBQ chicken pizza, saying she would travel to get it again. She did say it was a thick pizza, too, and she could have used a bigger knife to split it in half. Not in a complaining way, but a "holy crap, this is a large piece" type of way.
We capped off our dinner with fried dough. I'm not a fried dough eater, but my cousin wanted to try theirs. OMG! They were OUTSTANDING! Like crave-worthy. The portion was a lot. The dough was soft, and they were covered in powdered sugar and a chocolate sauce of some kind. I had to reassess my life and diet as someone who does not eat sweets as the norm. Just delicious.
I definitely gave our visit 5 stars. Clean, great service, really good food, truly impressive.
