Da Concettina ai Tre Santi

"Situated in the heart of the ancient, lively and often chaotic working class district of Sanità, this excellent pizzeria has been run by the Oliva family for over 60 years. It has succeeded in reinventing itself with each generation while retaining its traditional roots. Modern and imaginative pizzas feature on the menu alongside various fried specialities." - Michelin Inspector

We were here for lunch….the food is good with different presentation from others. We tried the tasting menu: few appetizers, 3 different pizza slides and 1 dessert. Since it was tasting menu and since they have more than one dessert I was disappointed to get only one, so when I paid I gave my feedback and promptly they offered to us Torta Caprese(very good). I do not give 5 stars because there are few things that I did not like: the music was not appropriate for a typical Napoletano Restaurant since it was more for a launch bar. Personally, I find the use of latex gloves by waiters when serving food to be unhygienic. It often makes me think that they might not wash their hands as frequently, since the gloves can give a misleading sense of hygiene. Moreover, I was concerned by the lack of a tablecloth or even paper napkins on the marble table, and by the fact that the cutlery rested on a metal stand. It raised doubts about whether these stands are sanitized or replaced between customers, which made me feel somewhat nervous and not entirely at ease.

Amazing pizza, prices are of course high for naples but for Michelin star restaurants it is cheap. They forgot one of our order. Atmosphere is amazing, reserve for terrace for sure!

Google
The dough and the cheese are excellent, my pizza was with no sauce so I can't comment on it, the tomatoes were fresh and sweet. The server was fast efficient and kind, all I could ask for. Overall 10/10, will fly to Italy again to taste the pizza in the near future

When I arrived, there was a huge queue to eat inside the restaurant, so I decided to order for take away instead. They have a separate area where you can sit, eat your food, and watch the pizzaiolos making the pizzas, which was a nice touch. I ordered the San Marzano pizza for just €7, while the same pizza would have cost €15 if I had chosen to eat inside. Even the classic Margherita is only €5 as take away, compared to €12 in the restaurant - quite a big difference! The service was very quick. I got my pizza in less than 10 minutes, and the staff were efficient and friendly. I’ve included a photo of the take away pizza menu below.

Friendly and courteous staff, traditional bustling Neopolitan atmosphere. My family from the US loved it! Pizza is fabulous and fried zucchini flowers were a huge hit. We were a table of five and we could barely finish one order of the mozzarella and tomato appetizer among us! My go-to pizzeria in Naples and they take reservations which you can make on line. Fair warning- be punctual!

We have been in Napoli 6 days and this is the first restaurant that we have been compelled to write a review about. "WOW!!" 😍 We have tried other touristy restaurants and we were ok with the flavor but this restaurant is something very different. The flavor and uniqueness of the food makes this restaurant outstanding. Don't get me wrong. The food is good at the other restaurants that we tried with great ratings but it's nothing that we thought was worthy of telling the world. This place is truly different. We tried the San Gennaro pizza. It is something completely different from any other pizza that we've tried. Delicious! Bonisimo!! We hope to come back and pay a visit to try another one that their unique pizzas! 🍕 Beware at the prices are a bit high. We got one pizza one bottle of water and one glass and the price was 49 Euro.

Google
I had a great time at this pizzeria in Naples. The pizza was really delicious – you can really try the beautiful taste of Neapolitan pizza . The place was cozy and made me feel welcome. The people who worked there were friendly and helpful. They knew a lot about the food and made sure I had everything I needed. Overall, it was a nice experience. If you want to try some good pizza with friendly service, this is the place to go.

Google
Authentic Neapolitan pizza with a perfectly blistered crust and rich, fresh flavors—just like in Naples. Sitting outside adds to the vibe, making you feel like you’re right in the heart of italy !

Yelp
From the delicious food to the ambiance, our meal was incredible. My daughter and I enjoyed the stuffed pumpkin, the green boom, and the San Gennaro pizza. The service was considerate and attentive. We are grateful for the opportunity to enjoy such a nice meal in Napoli

Yelp
Plenty of seating inside, the restaurant was a all indoor so the ac was on and it was a nice reprieve from the 90 degree weather outside. When we asked to be seated they asked us if we had reservations, so maybe we were lucky to be able to be seated immediately with out a reservation. The atmosphere was casual and relaxed. Which was surprising for it being a Michelin star restaurant. The cheese filled zucchini's flower was good. There was way more cheese filling inside than expected. I wish there was a bit more flower and a little less cheese to even out the flavor. Otherwise the batter that was used was very light and crispy. For our main we got the Concettina pizza. On the menu it said every third would be a different flavor, so I was surprised when a whole pizza didn't come out. Instead 6/8th of a pizza came out with each two slice set having different toppings. The dough was deliciously fire oven roasted and had a nice flavor and chewy texture. The food was delicious but a bit overpriced for what it was. Right next door there was a take away window for this restaurant and you could save 11 euro on that exact same pizza if you ordered To-go.

Yelp
I was skeptical about this place, but was pleasantly surprised when we walked into the restaurant. We sat upstairs and it was very nice. The staff was very attentive and did a little performance when we ordered upside down dough. It is a must order for the table whether it be for the experience or just the amazing taste! We also ordered and split a pizza.

Yelp
Went here because we had wanted someplace close to our air bnb and this place had good reviews. While I will say the atmosphere is very enjoyable, the food was severely lacking. My entire stay in Naples I can confidently say that this was by far the least good meal (but not bad). I had a €3.50 pizza from a street vendor that was better than this place. The prices are not bad, but considering this was the least enjoyable meal while somehow also being the most expensive place we ate, I'd highly suggest exploring your options.

Yelp
We thought it was only a take away or eat standing joint but there is a restaurant next to the take away shop. It is multilevel so walking in is fine. The pizza was so good that we ate there when we arrived and before we left Naples. The staff is attentive, personable, and speak English. Highly recommend eating pizza here. No pasta here. We ordered two pizzas for 4 adults but locals order one per person.

Yelp
Pizza place was recommended by our taxi can driver wholes he was dropping us off at our Airbnb. Then our host also recommended then. We thought the place was only for takeout till I returned back home and looked them up. Wish we had realized and gone to the restaurant. All the same the pizza dough was the best Ive ever had! It was just an amazing feeling. The toppings was a tough choice since Im pescatarian with mushroom allergy. My only option was tomatoes and they gave me a weird look when I asked if they could throw in some onions. I guess Napoli's don't eat onions on their pizza. Will definitely go back to the restaurant next trip

Yelp
My husband and I wanted to order to go and were sent over next door to place the order we told the gentleman guarding the door and he told us just to wait like 20 minutes (we said to go not dine in) so we proceeded to wait might as well and assumed he put us down for dine in and we just went with the flow. We see some of the crowds being taken in and one person showed up with a reservation they waited before being taken in and then a group of 4 came with no reservation were brought in before us at this time we were waiting for 40 minutes. The other couples with no reservation before us also got sat and we still waited another 20 minutes to be sat at a table that was EMPTY since the time we tried to place a to go order. We get our drinks and the server goes missing we let him know we are ready when we see him pass and he said we have to wait so we do he passes again again and is like oh yeah and grabs his device to take out order like 15/20 minutes later. The food was not even worth the wait it lacked flavor and the dough wasn't impressive either. When we left the person at the door didn't say grazi or how was the food like he asked everyone else. We were the only people of color in the establishment and no one else was treated this way. Not a great experience. We received better service and better pizza from another local place with such lovely and welcoming staff.

Yelp
Lovely atmosphere, great service and DELICIOUS pizza. The anchovy and green pepper pizzas were our favorite, and the 2017 Brunello was really special.

Yelp
We are progressing through a gluten free pizza in Naples day. This was our first stop and boy was it wonderful! We had a pizza with lemon and no one ingredient over powered another. It was wonderful! We watched as every plate brought to every table had a special finishing touch delivered by the staff (including our own). The service was observant but not pushy. Wonderful experience.

Yelp
If I could rate this restaurant 10 stars I would. Absolutely the most special experience we had in Napoli. If you are looking for the best do not skip this pizzeria. The staff made this evening so magical with a tasting menu to die for. It was worth every penny!!!! Thank you all!!!

Yelp
This is the fancier operation next door to the legendary Tre Santi, run by the same people. I noticed it while waiting on what was going to be a two hour line at the main spot, and got seated quickly. Best pizza ever. Absolutely stunningly good. For 8 euros! If you have a group, you can call ahead to arrange a tasting menu.

Yelp
Known for lengthy lines and its eponymous family, Pizzeria Da Oliva Concettina ai Tre Santi is the star of chaotic Sanità, and although Pizzas honed across generations for nearly 70 years are inspired and enjoyable a combination of service gaffs viewed within Naples otherwise outstanding Pizza culture made for a somewhat lackluster experience. Situated at the ancient city's chaotic core, and currently directed by Pizzaiolo Ciro Oliva, it was just prior to 19h00 that two guests found Concettina ai Tre Santi nearly empty, a surprising situation leading to immediate seating adjacent a family of three including a particularly unruly child. Greeted pleasantly, but then ignored by staff who appeared to be engaged in a service meeting-turned-argument, it was after lengthy perusal of English-friendly menus that decisions were made, the arrival of Pizza Margherita less than 90-seconds later a surprise, particularly as it belonged to the other table. Having requested two Fritti plus a pair of Pizzas and Water, it was as staff continued to shout that Ciro could be watched at work, the fourth generation Baker diligently stretching Dough over a wood paddle while another Chef manned the fryer. Receiving "Big Montanara" first, no Water or Genovese Omelette to be found, the quality of Antonio Oliva's Dough becomes apparent immediately, the disc's placement atop meaty Ragu, Basil and Cheese encouraging scarpetta until every last bite is gone. Well known for arduous Ingredient sourcing, the fact that most of Concettina ai Tre Santi's Pizzas sell for just €8 surprising considering this fact, it was still without Water on the table that two Pizzas arrived simultaneously, one with a Salami-stuffed cornicione benefiting the San Gennaro Foundation with proceeds and diners through vibrant Tomatoes, Smoked Provola and Tarallo Crumbs. Guiding Concettina ai Tre Santi into the future with Pizza "a canotto," but remaining rooted in history through classics handed down from Ciro's great-grandmother, it was finally after 75% of the Pizza was gone that a bottle of Acqua Panna arrived, a situation never really explained but stricken from the bill after the 3-in-1 Concettina highlighted by a folded pocket of crisp Pork was finished.

Yelp
Amazing Pizza and staff! There were upwards of 50 people outside waiting for reservations are a must! The pizzas are incredible and they keep the prices reasonable. Good wine list. Staff is very helpful and accommodating. Will definitely be back if passing through Naples.

Yelp
The pizzas we had were all incredible. The ambience was great and the service superb. Don't miss it when you are in Naples

Yelp
Great pizza and delicious choices. The waiter spoke German and English and was super nice !

Yelp
For sure the best pizza I've eaten in my life. The guys treated me and my friend so nice we ate here everyday and tried half the menu it seemed. Everything was amazing ! The dough was made with love and the cheeses were ridiculous. There is also a nice selection of wines and appetizers. While there is a wait there is a bar across the street to pass time.

Yelp
Preface: I go back home in Italy once a year for holidays. Therefore I wait a whole year for eating real pizza. USA has good places for pizza but they are just close to the Italian taste. Even Italian pizza is not exactly comparable to the neapolitan one. Therefore Neapolitan pizza in the best in the world. This place has been the first one in which I eat pizza this year. It is difficult to find a parking spot, due to the location, and it is a little small. There are a lot of people outside so if you are hungry, either you go somewhere else or you decide to wait at least one hour. After all, it is worth to wait, because the pizza is really good. They passed the margherita test flawlessly. The dough is soft, olive oil is tasty and mozzarella cheese is awesome: it was delicious! I might go here for my first holiday pizza again.

Yelp
The pizza was fantastic. Truly. Marinara tasted better than Michele. Yes, I said it. Also tried the tarali pizza. Woweee. The crust was stuffed with Salami. Also loved the stuffed ripieno pizza and the lemon pizza. It was pizza heaven. The only problem was the strange service. Even the sketchy neighborhood didn't bother me. I ordered a bottle of wine and they brought us 3 glasses of wine instead of a bottle. Who does that? When we asked why, they said thats how they do it here. Bizarre, but we didn't want to make a fuss. Everything else was good. Eat the pizza. Just don't order wine, I guess!

Yelp
Without any doubt, the best pizza I've had anywhere. Naples is known for its pizza, and I've been to 4 well-rates pizzerias in Naples this week. This dwarfs them all! Don't miss he San Gennero Foundation pizza, it will blow your mind!!!

Massiel G.

Yelp
Amazing experience! Worth the drive!! It's definitely one of the best pizzas I've had! Words and and picture are not enough. We had a late lunch, I'm sure the place is packed for dinner! But worth the wait.

Jenny H.

Yelp
After two days of eating mediocre pizzas at various places around Naples and being disappointed the owner of our rental recommended this place. At first we walked into the take out section of the restaurant and was kindly told to go next door and that was the sit down section. Very nice, contemporary decor and very clean. Wait staff was excellent, fast and the head waiter spoke English and explained the menu. We had a selection of the smaller first course fried pizza and shared a larger pizza. All the ingredients were fresh, first class and all the dishes were amazing! Next time we come back I want to sample all the first course small pizza. Amazing place. Must come hete

Yelp
Our host recommended this restaurant as a must-eat in Naples. He suggested we get there before 8pm and we were glad we got there around 6:45pm as the place filled up quickly. The service and atmosphere was fantastic! We started with a Frittatina Genovese which had really good flavor. I have never had anything like it! For a lack of a better description...it was almost like a fried mac & cheese ball with a little meat in it. For dinner three of us had two pizzas - the Margheritissa and the Margherita. Both were good, crust around the edge amazing but none of us walked away saying 'This was the best pizza we have ever had." Oh and menu is in all Italian and few waiters spoke limited English. I am posting the current menu so you can do some translating before you go!

Yelp
Wow! Wow ! Wow, such an amazing place. I loved it al - I did the 10 course tasting menu and everything was divine. Only thing I didn't love was the price was too much. 60e for little pizza bites!! ??

Yelp
I got the pizza spaziale. Center is cut and flipped over to create pockets to stuff ham and cheese... Fucking glorious.
google avatar

Federico S.

Yelp
glorious pizza, best in napoli they say...and consequently best in the world. i have to agree. located in the proletarian neighborhood of la sanita' this pizza is a must.

Placido Q.

Yelp
Waiting way to long they will tell 10 minutes but can take up to 2 hours. You will be waiting for your table in a very dangerous street where the smog of the hundreds of cars passing by will make you feel sick. The pizza is just ok. Not worth the wait.

Ed T.

Yelp
Hustlers!! Although the pizza was good, the wait staff seemed shady and they over charged us for our meal, then when we were paying at the end, they didn't want to give us our change back. Tourists be ware, if they know you aren't from here they will try to hustle you for every penny. Just a heads up. (The merchants at the market outside of this restaurant were very friendly/helpful/honest)
