"Pizzeria Fantastica makes the best food on the island, and it’s not particularly close. The Neapolitan pizza spot—formerly known as Pizza Yard—cooks their pies out of a brick oven in a small wooden structure, which results in a crust that skews more bubbly than puffy, popping with fresh bursts of hot, pizza-flavored air with every bite. The setup is great, too, with tons of picnic tables spread out under tall trees, as well as a giant open field right nearby. "Governors Island is a five-minute ferry ride from Manhattan, and is better known for bike paths and a very fancy spa than it is for great food, but Pizzeria Fantastica is the exception.
