Pizzería Restaurante Via Appia’s

A cozy, pet-friendly restaurant, ideal for casual dinners. Its terrace facing Ashford Avenue invites you to enjoy a good wine. Their pasta and pizzas are the best in the area. The prices for the dishes outside the regular menu are a bit high. The staff strives to provide good service.

This place is terrible!! I ordered fried calamari and the marinara sauce was absolutely horrible! I think great value tomato sauce would be better, this was like ketchup warmed up! I also Italian salad and it only consist of iceberg lettuce, 2 slices of cucumbers ans 2 slices of tomato with some Gorgonzola cheese on top. Where’s the olives and onions?? It as supposed to come with garlic bread well they ran out so I asked for regular bread, no bread! And the salad dressing was watered down! Absolutely no flavor!! Also we ordered Lobster Risotto after they convinced us to try it, guess what - no Risotto!! I was truly disappointed that I’m actually writing this review! I have never ever written a review before! But the worst place I’ve ever eaten at that I had to review it!! People who give this place 5 stars truly do NOT know real Italian restaurants

I had an incredible dining experience at Pizzería Restaurante Via Appia’s in Puerto Rico. I started with the calamari, which came with a house-made tomato sauce—something I had never tried before. The combination of perfectly crispy calamari with that unique sauce was simply delicious. For the main course, I had an anchovy and prosciutto pizza with onions. The balance of flavors was amazing, creating an explosion of taste in every bite. Beyond the fantastic food, what truly stood out was the exceptional customer service, especially from El Colombiano, who guided me with great recommendations. For me, customer service is even more important than the food itself, and this place delivered an outstanding experience on both fronts. One interesting note: I noticed many locals dining here, which is always a great sign. As a tourist, that’s exactly the kind of authentic experience I look for.

This place is popular and busy. We assumed the Specials would be good prices. There were no prices on the Special Board. We ordered the shrimp caesar salad and were shocked that the price was $34.00. The chicken Caesar was $20. Lots of entrees were around $20 including seafood items. We felt ripped off when the bill arrived.

I’ve been here many times but this last experience was honestly awful. From the moment we sat down we were rushed to order even to the extent of ordering without being able to look at a menu in front of me. After that the service was slow and sloppy. Barely any accommodations were made for my gluten allergy, to the extent that I was still served food with gluten and cross contamination. Mind you this was my last day with my family before leaving so all we wanted was a nice dinner together not an hour of being forced to order and shove food down our throat. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone who is looking for an authentic Puerto Rican experience. This is not what the island is about and truly was embarrassing as someone who grew up eating here.

From my warm welcome from the hostess when I walked in the door. I was treated like they knew me and I was expected. My server was Micheal who almost knew what I wanted, and how I wanted it I wasnt disappointed, the chicken piccata was one of the best I've ever had, an abundance of capers and the chicken was tender, cooked to perfection. I may have to come back tomorrow night. The atmosphere is warm, lively and welcoming. Even though I was eating alone, I didn't feel like it. The Sangria was delish.

The veal parmesan was amazing. The meatballs with garlic bread was delicious and the sausage with peppers was amazing as well. The gentlemen that served us was great, just a little older and it was busy so it took a little time to order. Nothing annoying. Our drinks workout the extra shot were ok, but the extra shot looked more than enough to get nice.

We stopped in for dinner as the restaurant was a few blocks from our hotel. They have a large selection of food and drinks and appears to be both a nice local area restaurant as well as tourist with a large menu and wine selection. We had  a pitcher of their Sangria and calamari. The Sangria was some what bitter but good, fruitful and favorable. The calamari was nicely prepared and delicious. We ordered the meat lagansa and Spaghetti dinner. Both meals were delicious and cooked to perfection. The staff was very busy but nice and friendly and provided great service. Overall,  great food and drinks and excellent service. Hopefully we can stop in for dinner on our next visit.
