24 Best Vegans and Vegetarians in Montreal | Eater Montreal

"Once among the growing number of omnivorous Montreal pizza joints to offer a handful of solid plant-based options, Pizzeria Zac went fully vegan in 2021 — and its reputation for crafting delicious, crispy pies and compelling ingredient combinations has only grown. Those who can take the heat would be remiss to avoid the El Diablo (which features seitan, roasted tomatoes, jalapenos, and chili flakes); the Lisa Simpson (sun-dried tomatoes, artichokes and crunchy almonds) and the Thai pizza are also fan favourites." - Holly Tousignant

Cute little takeout pant-based pizza spot. They have a few tables inside if you want to dine in. You can order by the slice (very limited selection) or whole pie. Pizza is ok. Don’t get the plant-based pepperoni pizza. I don’t plan to going back

The best vegan pizza in Montreal! Stopped in after a long walk and the lunch rush, it was the perfect cozy place. Ate a slice of the pepperoni pizza while waiting for my order and it was divine. The slice was large, the crust thing and amount of melted cheese was perfect. Then my order arrived a few minutes later and the smell was enough to take me back to an Italian villa. Le Mile End is the perfect balance of red sauce, pesto, cheese, rosted garlic and pine nuts lightly covered with spinach. For fun I added mushrooms and my brain felt like it was exploding with all the rich flavors. My husband had an Old School Calzone and said he would have another if there was space in the tummy left. We loved it and will return!

Such a nice place to get some great pizza at an affordable price! I love the mile end and the white bechamel one. Definitely recommend. Plus the music is awesome and the vibes are great. Staff is really chill! Thanks 😊

Google
Absolutely happy finding a vegan pizza spot in Montreal! The flavours are mind-blowing! This is how you do vegan food. For 2 people we tried the le mile end, pesto vegane and roxanne in petite. Shared one lemonade. The crust was thin and rightly between crispy and soft. The chilli oil was to die for. We were lucky to get parking as it was a weekday. Weekends, it is hopeless! Staff were very friendly and warm. Recommend:10/10

The pizza is so damn good! I can't get over the crust. Don't expect much for the atmosphere, but where it's located is super cute, and overall the vibe is quaint. There are two long bench style tables, so if it's busy, good luck getting a spot haha. But you're there for the pizza, and it's worth it. I got a small, but I easily could have eaten a large.

Amazing vegan pizza! Would highly recommend it. Atmosphere is very small and we could smell cigarette smoke from outside coming in. Recommend ordering or taking out rather than eating in.

Google
Loved this pizzaaaaa! I am always looking for places that serve great vegan things but THIS PLACE RULES! The flavor, the portions and the prices all make for one of the best vegan options in Montreal. Service was fast and people were super kind 🥰

We were in Montreal for just 48 hrs and we went twice. The menu had a creative and quality selection of pizzas. It was cooked so we'll, loved the crispy crust. Oh and the people were so nice, making it a great experience all around. Will definitely be back for more.

Yelp
Chez Zac is a cute, little pizza parlour, offering delicious thin-style pizza pies. There are a few other items on their menu (for example, I also had a salad during my visit), but the stars are definitely the pizzas. The space really only encompasses a couple long shared tables, so I wouldn't recommend if you're with a big group. However, they do of course do takeout/delivery, so there's still a backup plan. I was there with just two other people and we all thoroughly enjoyed the pizzas we chose. And I'll also note that the server (ie, the person doing the behind the counter AND serving), was really attentive given she was doing double duty. If pizza is on your mind, Chez Zac has you covered.

Yelp
A wonderful little spot in a great location! The menu options are fantastic, with creative topping combinations (I had the Lisa Simpson!) There is very little space inside (only 2 tables to sit), but the staff are quick and friendly with take-out orders! I'd recommend popping by here for pizza before (or after!) grabbing a beer at one of the cute little bars lining Duluth.

Yelp
I ordered the mile end pizza and it was one of the best pizzas I've had the sauce and the vegan cheese were great and I got a cool cat illustration on the outside of my box.

Yelp
You might be thinking --- oh really, another pizza shop? And, while sure they are a pizza shop, they are not just your average or by-the-slice quick-serve spot. They hand press the dough and only sell by the whole pie. I'd call them artisanal and certainly local, plus creative and friendly. You'll probably be greeted by Mike who helps guide people through menu of over a dozen pies on the large printed menu in the front window. They have a nice variety of plain to well-topped. They even have a Calzone and dessert pizza, with gluten free and vegan options coming soon. I give them the high rating for their enthusiasm, energy and desire as much as some darn tasty pizza, which have a variety of sauces to go with a focus on flavorful and quality ingredients for their toppings. Long story short, they are aiming high and appear to be on their way. Since they just opened recently they don't have all the decor set-up, but there is a gorgeous solid wood table in the front corner, by the window and a very cool swirled white, black and gray floor (not that you'll be focused on looking down, compared to at their delish pizza offerings). For good measure --- and hockey playoffs --- they've posted a 50% off special for a second pizza; Wednesday and Thursday (pick up only) and possibly running as a limited time offer. So, in the midst of this new situation; these guys bravely opened and are giving it a solid go! Good on them...

Yelp
Amazing vegan pizza! We got the Thai pizza and it was creative and delicious. The owner was great and welcoming and the service was quick. The crust was the best part so I don't think you could go wrong with any of the pizzas. Be sure to stop at the indie beer store a few doors down for a complete meal!

Yelp
Montreal isn't exactly the spot for pizza in Canada, and especially not for vegans, but this place really comes through. I've been vegan for 20 years and there are zero options in this city that I would recommend for folks like me. I've tried all three vegan options, and they all absolutely meet the criteria for best vegan pizza in the city. The Thai vegan is my fave, and it's highly addictive. They'll also "veganize" any pizza they have, and even have GF options. A seriously solid joint to grab dinner at in the plateau.

Yelp
I have been sampling Montreal pizza places given my high metabolism and need for calorie dense foods. I ordered from Chez Zac Pizzeria using UberEats and will be reviewing the food I ordered (Diablo pizza large). Taste: taste was acceptable. I would not say that the taste was so good to provide an out of body experience, but it was good enough. So nothing too special. The Diablo pizza was not very spicy. 3/5 with dings for being almost generic taste with a spicy pizza not coming out very spicy. Price: I got a large pizza for around 20 CAD, which is pretty good considering the pricing of non-fast food pizza places. However, as another reviewer pointed out, there is not as much body to the pizza. On comparing my fullness from this pizza vs other large pizza, it was around half as good as I could finish the whole pizza when pretty hungry when it would take around half a pizza from other restaurants to do the same. Regardless, the price is still reasonable for the area so I will not be dinging it because of this. 5/5 Verdict: 8/10. Good value for a wide variety of pies. While my experience was a bit generic, perhaps it is different for other pies. I would recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
For at least a decade, Montrealers have asked themselves: "Do we need another pizza spot in the Plateau?" Chez Zac answers this question. The pizza is fine - it just costs $30 and is slightly larger than a bagel. And to add insult to injury, the Pine Nuts are Chinese and not Italian.

Yelp
This place is a gem, amazing food and people! if you were sceptical about vegan pizza this one will blow your mind !

Yelp
The pizza flavours were there however it was quite expensive. I got a 10" small pizza for roughly $15. The crust was really thin which I liked but it almost too thin, resembling a tortilla. There were barely any toppings. To sum it all up it was way too expensive for what it was. Good flavour tho, maybe get a large.
