This is a topical NY place for Jewish food. The food was generous and the taste was excellent. We were in doubt about a soupy and they gave us a small portion ( for free ) to decide. Will go back again (and again and again :) )

A very traditional deli in NYC, located in the 3rd Avenue. The place is small, but you can choose between seating on a table or over the balcony. There are several options in the menu, but the corned beef and the pastrami seem to be the most ordered. I've had the corned beef sandwich - it was only bread and the meat - and it was ok.

Had the cheese blintzes and it was wonderful! Tastes like home made food, lovely service. Great experience!

First timer at this deli. Ordered the corned beef and swiss on a hardroll with the deli mustard. It was good and hot but I ended up saving it for the next day at lunch. I was a bit worried about that but I was too full from bagels that morning. The sandwhich was the BEST corned beef I've ever had. Very impressed with the taste and freshness of everything. Simply excellent.

Bernstein’s was a great experience. First was the Server she made the lunch, great attitude. Pastrami and the Kaplah soup was fantastic.

Love the kreplach chicken soup, great cold cuts especially pastrami corned beef and smoked tongue, they also make a perfect egg cream.

I've been going to Jewish Delis in NYC for my entire life. I happened to walk past this place, amazed that I had never heard of it. I went in and ordered a sandwich, the name of which escapes me now (Jewish Supreme, possibly?) which was a bunch of pastrami piled on a knish. Absolutely fantastic. 10/10. The pastrami was flavorful, not fatty, and juicy, while the knish was the kind you get from a street vendor, super crispy on the outside, pillowy and creamy on the inside. My companions enjoyed their meals as well. Additionally, the staff was incredibly kind. I'll definitely be hitting this place up again.

I went to this OK kosher-style delicatessen a while back. They have some OK specials and as I have passed by the place on numerous times, I figured I might as well stop in. Service was expected for a deli like this though she did fill the water quite often which was nice. One of the specials was half a deli sandwich on rye along with fries which I chose pastrami on seedless rye with some Russian on the side. It was also served with one sliced full sour pickle and one sliced half sour pickle along with a little thing of coleslaw. The pastrami was fine. It wasn't as tender or juicy as Sarge's (or Katz's/2nd Ave/Pastrami Queen/insert place here) and there wasn't as much meat as Sarge's being closer to Pastrami Queen in terms of portion. The seedless rye was a bit dry even with the meat so the Russian dressing helped a lot. The fries were OK. No crisp at all and presumably frozen/store bought. I would also have appreciated full pickles and not sliced and the coleslaw was tiny and alright. In short, everything was pretty small portioned but for lunch you'll get full. Outside of the reasonable price point, I don't exactly see the reason to go here outside of the old school atmosphere and if you're looking to spend a little bit less on delicatessen food. The meat is worse here and the stuff you get with your sandwich is both smaller portioned and worse than most other Jewish delis. Spend a few bucks more and go to one of the better delis. Mid/low 2

This Upper East side staple has been around for a while. Great Jewish deli and they have awesome Knishes. I usually get turkey sandwich or pastrami. Their frenchfries are good too. They have plenty of seating and it is a laidback diner place. Service has always been good whenever I have come.

Why a three star review if the sandwiches are good? Because nothing else is good! Aside from the sandwiches, which have good flavor, plenty of meat, and thankfully are served on seedless rye bread, there is nothing else to say that is positive about the restaurant. The chicken noodle soup is bland as is the matzo ball soup. There is no mustard at the table (no deli mustard at all Jewish deli is blasphemy), and you only get two pickles (one half sour and one sour) with your sandwich. The coleslaw you get with your sandwich is good but you only get a small amount. Note: Pickles and coleslaw should be free and unlimited at any Jewish deli. That is the equivalent to chips and salsa at a Mexican restaurant or complementary bread and olive oil or butter at an Italian restaurant. The service is erratic as I had to chase down anybody who was willing to help me and the servers that were there were not particularly friendly. I am taking it off my list of deli to recommend. There are other delis in this city to choose from that are better for the overall experience.

The service here makes the meal! We had a party of eight with different orders and the staff handled them all with speed and precision. I didn't take a picture of each dish, yet know that everyone cleared the plate. The pastrami arrived on very soft rye bread - not too soft, but soft - and I fear I got the end of the pastrami. The flavor was okay, but too much edge meat. Pickles perfectly sour, and the blintzes I'd return for. The cherry and sour cream topping matched perfectly with the soft flour folds lightly crisp on the edges. The plates are expensive yet ample. Service for our table aside, management and waitstaff carried on conversation across the room and behind the counter making it hard for us to hear one another. So, not the best ambiance. Looking for a decent deli, you'll find one here. Not sure if this place would be a regular for me. Only the blintzes and service calls me back.

The RUDEST, most UNPROFESSIONAL people. We were told the delivery would take 1/2 hour. 1 hour later, I called and was told they took down the wrong address. I asked why no one called, and they told me to hold on. I held on for 8 minutes, and when the cashier got back on, she told me it will be there in a few minutes. I asked why no one called if they had the wrong address. She said "we had the right address, it will be there in a few", and hung up on me. When the food arrived, everything was ice cold, and despite my asking twice for fresh mustard, they didn't include it in our order. I ate inside the deli about a month ago, and what I saw should have warned me to stay away, but foolishly, I gave them one more chance. The young man and his co-worker at the register were eating AT the register, all the while, taking people's money. It was not only unsanitary, but is against health code. The guy was wearing a jacket with a profane expression on the back, - completely unfit attire for a place of business of any kind. They behaved like two teenagers with complete disregard for customers and a professional environment. What used to be a nice upper East Side deli is now a dump, - and hopefully, on it's way out. They don't deserve to be in business with such low-class attitudes.

Love the homie and local feel. Went in today after asking a Jewish dad where I should go get a pastrami sandwich. Pastrami was not too spicy and more mild compared to other places but very good in quality. Rye bread was from Eli's (I believe) and paired well with the sandwich. I took the first bite with out the spicy mustard and it was fantastic. The cole slaw was on the sweeter side, but I enjoyed it. Pickle spears were good too. More of a "cant-go-wrong" kinda place. The highlight was the staff. All super friendly, attentive and helpful. No wait at 10:30am

Way at the beginning of the pandemic we were invited by the @pjbernsteinnyc family to stop in at their NY deli/restaurant. I never thought we would get to the city. I came for pastrami... Big No Way. I was told better than Katz Deli so came here instead BIG mistake. I love a great pastrami, not sure if isolated incident but I've had enough good patramis to know it wasn't. The bread was dry and stale and I literally couldn't keep eating. I think by my 1st half I just stopped eating. N pulled the meat off the bread. Also had chicken noodle soup and it was decent but both guest and myself didn't find one piece of chicken anywhere to be found. The reason I bumped it to a 2 star is the waitress was nice and they played Princ album the whole time we dined! Prince got me through lunch!! Thank You, PRIINCE!! I will keep trying to find the best New York pastrami and I know it's out there but this surely isn't it!!

First and last time i go in here. I came in because i saw that they are known for their pastrami and it is not worth it. I paid 29$ total for a pastrami sandwich. For the amount of money you are spending for a pastrami sandwich you would hope it would be big, like KATZ DELI. The pastrami itself is thin sliced and very dry. It was not very flavorful and I do not believe it is fresh. Also the pastrami was on the colder side. The bread was nothing out of the ordinary. I rather walk the extra mile and go to PASTRAMI QUEEN or even go out of my way to go to KATZ DELI (been to both) Keep your money people and go to pastrami queen instead if you in the area.

I got a Groupon here and thought to myself, "why not give this place a try". I got the pastrami sandwich. The meat was a bit dry. This is the first time for me having pastrami sandwich. It is served on a cold hard rye bread. They claimed to have the best pastrami sandwich and this restaurant has been in NYC for a long time. It is somewhat hard for me to compare if the sandwich was authentic or not or even, if it was supposed to be dry because like I said this is my first time having pastrami sandwich. They stacked the meat in the center making it look like a generous portion when they cut it into two. Don't get me wrong the portion size was not bad. The sandwich was quite dry, I added mustard to it. I can tell that the mustard was home made and so was the pickle. I do like the coleslaw that came with the sandwich. Here is where things become really awkward. Service here was somewhat slow or non-existence. It seems like the server was a bit lost. I had a question and the server didn't know how to answer the question but instead he just walked away. I didn't bother flagging him down asking the same question again. Also the restaurant itself was quite cold. Seems like the owner wants to keep the heat down. I noticed most people do take out and rarely anyone would sit down in the restaurant. I guess there is a reason why they have to promote on Groupon. The deal I got was $5 for $15 to use toward anything in the restaurant on any day.

I love ordering from this deli. Good food and decent prices. Guilty pleasure is the gefilte fish platter - just try it you'll probably like it.

P J Bernstein is a classic Deli. It's very popular with the older crowd. I was treated very nice when I entered and no one made a fuss about my photo taking. The cashier changed my receipt to reflect my cash payment. You save if you use cash. I bought a Spinach Knish for my lunch. It's wrapped up nice in tinfoil to carry home. It's smaller than their competitor but also two dollars less. I love this old school atmosphere with entertainment stars photos on the wall. There's lots of seating inside and outside. In colder weather I may return to eat inside. There's a counter in the back. I love the neon sign for Take Out that hangs over the deli section. Like I said this place is classic and the food is fresh and delicious! I'm recommending!

In today's world it is not too tough to find a Deli here in New York City. They are all over the city. But to find a true, old fashioned style Jewish Deli is not so easy. They do exist, but you have to find them when you can. That is why we are lucky when we walk into PJ BERNSTEIN Deli on the East Side. It is authentic. Where can you begin. It had everything. Before going in I knew what I wanted to have. It is like a standard order when you walk into the deli you always remembered. It is what you always like and want. First up was the MATZOH BALL SOUP. This is a classic. It was huge, fresh and filled with everything you would expect. And it was all homemade today. The matzoh ball was large and fresh. It was light and moist. The soup itself was fresh chicken soup and had in it carrots, celery, and some onion. It also was filled with noodles. These alone could have been a bowl of pasta. But in the soup the bowl could have been an entire meal. It was perfect. And they are famous for it here. We also had KREPLAH SOUP. This is traditional. Similar to matzoh ball soup, but it is filled with dumplings filled with beef in a soup that also contains carrots, celery and onions. The flavor was perfect. A little salt and pepper, but not too much. It is the beef soup that makes you enjoy each spoon. One extra order was of BEEF GOULASH. It was filled with large pieces of beef along with carrots and some vegetables. It was placed in the bowl on top of noodles. This you eat with a spoon for each bite you take. It is a good dish when you have the soup. Here at PJ Bernstein you have to have a traditional Deli Sandwich. Even before we entered we knew what we wanted to have. Of course, when you look at the menu, or talk to the team, you might want something else or more. We went with what you expect. To start, we had PASTRAMI on RYE with mustard. That is perfect. The fresh rye bread was just made. It was real rye bread freshly made. It was a good size. Not think and not thin. Just right. Inside it was filled with fresh pastrami. This was lean, which is perfect for today. In the past it would have been more fat, but in today's world it is a bit more lean. In either case, with a little mustard on your sandwich you could take a bite and be glad you did. It is just right. In fact, you can eat half the sandwich and take the other half home for another meal. That is how much you have here. The other sandwich we had was the REUBEN. It is a classic. This is a combination of pastrami and sauerkraut placed on fresh rye bread that is then topped with Swiss cheese that is roasted so that the cheese can melt. In many places this is a standard size when you order. But here at PJ Bernstein it is large. This is the way it use to be made, and to have it here is eating the way it use to be made. It was warm, melted, fresh, tasty. You look at it and believe you cannot eat the entire thing and have to take half of it home. Instead, you sit and eat and enjoy. You can finish the entire reuben as you enjoy each bite you take. Naturally this is served with some coleslaw which is homemade, and a pickle. The perfect, traditional reuben. Naturally we also had a side of LATKE. These are freshly made potato dish that are ground and mixed and then fried. This is something that can be served on the side, or become an entire meal itself for some people. Either way, it is crisp, fresh and tasty. The seasoning is right. When you are in PJ Bernstein you do not need french fries. You cannot go to the deli without having a dessert and a cup of coffee. That is the way to finish your meal. And, here at PJ Bernstein, they have a dessert list that will take you time to consider what you want. In our case we went traditional with an order of RUGGELACH. Ruggelach is a typical pastry dessert which is not too sweet and has the right flavor and taste. It can be plain, or it can be filled with jams, fruit, nuts, or chocolate. It really is what you would want. We had a variety of 8 different ruggelach to try. Each was different and perfect. It was freshly homemade, so it was new and perfect after the meal. PJ Bernstein has been around since 1965 when it was founded by Alex. The price is right. You know that when your meal arrives. That is a big portion. Each bite reminds you of the history of eating in a Jewish Deli. (it is non-kosher.) The staff is excellent. They can answer questions and help you as you try to decide what you want. There is also a small Jazz Group that will be inside playing at night to whoever arrives to eat. This is something new and ideal for the time. It is worth checking out when you finally decide what to eat. Overall, PJ Bernstein is the perfect, authentic place to go for breakfast, lunch or an early dinner. It is open 7 days a week, so it will be there when you are ready. Go now.

I recently had breakfast at PJ Bernstein, a New York deli located near the hospital where I was visiting my new grandbaby. While I had high hopes for the meal, I was somewhat disappointed by the overall experience. To start, the tables were sticky, which was not a great first impression. It made me wonder about the overall cleanliness of the restaurant. Additionally, my egg cream was too watery, which detracted from the overall flavor. While it was still drinkable, it was not up to the standard that I was hoping for. As for the food, I ordered my standard latkes, matzoh ball soup, and a Reuben sandwich. While the matzoh ball soup was flavorful and satisfying, the latkes had too much flour, which made them dry and a bit tough. This was a disappointment, as latkes are one of my favorite dishes and I was looking forward to them. The Reuben sandwich was good, but not outstanding. It was a bit dry and lacked the tangy flavor that I was hoping for. While the food was not exceptional, the service was decent. Our server was friendly and attentive, and the food was served in a timely manner. However, the lack of cleanliness and the disappointing latkes and egg cream detracted from the overall experience. In conclusion, while PJ Bernstein may have been a New York deli staple in the past, my recent experience left something to be desired. While the matzoh ball soup and Reuben sandwich were good, the latkes had too much flour and the egg cream was too watery. Additionally, the tables were sticky, which was a bit off-putting. While the service was decent, I would recommend looking elsewhere for a more satisfying New York deli experience

We went here for quick dinner since near the hospital where we were visiting and where family member lives. We ordered approximately $50.00 of food. One entree we were told came with coleslaw and pickles. While waiting for order asked if i could have some more coleslaw. ( No Problem i was told) . When we received the bill i saw a $6.50 charge for the coleslaw and an upcharge for a bowl of soup even though we ordered a soup and half sandwich and never asked for a bowl as compared to a cup so i was surprised by upcharge and let it go since we received more soup so no big deal. When I asked waitress why i was charged for the coleslaw she said second order is not free. I asked her why she did not tell me and if she had i would not have ordered it. Her response is she did not have to tell me. I asked for the manager who came over and said when he tells people they get mad and a side order of coleslaw on the menu says $6.50. I asked him if they get mad about them charging for additional coleslaw what do the say when they get the bill without being told which should make them more angry. He refused to adjust the bill even though i told him i am in neighborhood often and would never come back since they were so dishonest even though the food was fine even if extremely overpriced. His response to this was he has to pay the rent. At $25.00 for a sandwich i think the coleslaw overcharge should not keep him from paying the rent. While a couple paying $50.00 for dinner at a Deli and never returning might be more of an issue. I will never be back nor will anyone i know based on the unethical pricing and poor customer service.

Came here for lunch after going to the METS. Very good food. Pastrami was tasty and moost. Summer borscht soup was amazingly goof! Friendly staff. Highly recommended.

Located in the Upper West Side of Manhattan, this deli style NYC restaurant is a good choice. I purchased a Groupon to give this place a try. It was for dine in only. Not too many people dine in but they do take out and delivery. I had the Scottish Salmon plate dinner with coleslaw, pickles and two sides. I chose the baked sweet potato and creamed spinach. Everything was so delicious. I really enjoyed it all. I had enough for leftovers as well. The server was nice.

PJ Bernstein is exactly what one thinks of when it comes to a classic NY Deli/Restaurant that serves delicious sandwiches and other "NY" specialties. This was the first stop my aunt took me to upon visiting from Miami for a couple of days. She had a pastrami sandwich, whereas I had a half pastrami, half corned beef sandwich. The portions were very large and delicious!!! Meat and beef quality was great and exactly what I expected. I have to seriously look into who makes a sandwich like this back home in Miami!!! Each sandwich comes with a side of house pickles and coleslaw. She was able to save half of her sandwich for lunch the next day. The pictures truly speak for themselves. Service was very laidback and allowed us to talk and enjoy our meal while Keeping our glasses of water full. My aunt ordered a cappuccino with her sandwich, which she said was one of the better cups of coffee she's had in a while. Give this classic, laidback place a try when you are in NY and looking for a filling and delicious lunch!

Visiting from out of town and tried this deli for Sunday lunch. The waitress was very pleasant, but we did have to wait to get some dressing. We had chicken noodle soup, which was chicken broth and noodles, did not have any pieces of chicken in the soup. I had the pastrami on white bread. As this is the only deli I have tried here in NYC I don't have anything to compare it to locally. The pastrami had good flavor, but the bread left a little to be desired, as it was a little hard around the edges. We also had bagel chips which was a first for me. I enjoyed them. I will try another deli next time in the mood for a pastrami sandwich.

I came in at 2pm in the afternoon for a late lunch, it was just me. I sat outside. When I first got there, I went inside to ask for a table outside, the 'host' looked at me like it had three heads, like that was the most ridiculous thing he'd ever heard. I then got sat, but he didn't give me a menu, so I sat for about 5 minutes, with no menu. Finally a busser came out and gave me water and asked if I needed a menu, I kindly said yes. Soon after the waitress came out and I ordered. She was nice. I ordered a coffee and an omelette. The coffee never came. The omelette came but I didn't get utensils and no one came back to check in. I asked for a box for my food, did not stay to eat. I paid and left. Horrible experience. Would not recommend

Best Pastrami sandwich and love the half sour pickles, Come with an appetite cuz the sandwiches are huge! Great service and a very cozy local spot.

I ordered delivery from these guys after having walked past them while attending a UES street fair the other week. I ordered a pastrami and corned beef sandwich that came with your traditional pickles and even a little side of coleslaw that was on the sweeter, yummier side. With that, I also got a white fish platter, which came with a bagel and your typical accoutrements and surprisingly cream cheese. The order arrived within the delivery window. All in all the sandwich and whitefish salad are what you expect for typical Deli food. Price was average as well. No complaints here.

Desperate for quick corned beef fix on a quick visit to Manhattan, I came here because it was 2 blocks from my appointment on a 95° summer day. The "hot" corned was barely above temperature and texture was tough, although flavor was good. Service was warm and friendly. You can do better if you are willing to travel a bit more than I was.

Read a bunch of reviews before going in, and quite a few mentioned how their orders were wrong....and yup, that happened to me too. After I got my order, I quickly glanced through the bag to double check bc of those Yelp reviews, but the errors they made were not visible until all the items were opened up right before eating (annoying!!!). THE BAD: Baked knish came as a fried knish, and the pastrami sandwich was put on whole wheat bread instead of rye. What crazy person eats pastrami on whole wheat?? I have no idea, but it was stinkin' annoying. The bread on the bottom of the Reuben was burnt as well, and I waited quite a while for my order. I think the restaurant needs a Gordon Ramsay type person behind the counter to check orders as they're being made, bc if it's a consistent issue, someone should be addressing it. THE GOOD: why is this pastrami so freaking good?? Texture was perfect, less greasy chunks of fat than other places, perfectly seasoned and not overwhelming amount of pepper and salt and other seasoning....I could eat the pastrami all on its own all day long. Other than the burnt bread, Reuben sandwich was delicious, too. Overall, the multiple issues with my order make me not want to come here again, but I may bc of how delicious the pastrami was. On the food itself, I feel like this place is a solid 4.5-5 stars, but very few things are more annoying than crappy execution and no attention to detail that you only discover after you've left the restaurant and are about to start eating. If I do go back, I'll prob be the crazy lady who opens up all the food packaging to double check before I leave the restaurant!

If you grew up loving those old style Jewish - style Deli's, you'll be delighted to visit and dine at P.J. Bernstein's restaurant. We were looking for a restaurant to celebrate a very special occasion and decided to have lunch at P.J. Bernstein's and we had a fantastic culinary experience. I had the Cobb Salad snd while I envisioned a big bowl with chopped up greens, chicken, eggs and bacon, I was astonished to receive a huge plate with at least a half pound of delicious chicken served in long strips, sliced tomatoes, cucumbers, a whole hard boiled egg, crispy bacon and delicious greens. It was a huge amount of food but everything was so delicious, I had to eat everything on my plate! My friends had huge BLT's and an avocado salad served with fresh and delicious shrimp salad. Everything we ate was outstanding and our waitress and waiters kept filling our water snd making sure we had everything we needed to be totally thrilled with our meals. In addition to our dining experience, the manager checked our vaccination cards and checked our licenses when we entered and if you are interested, they had the cleanest and coolest bathrooms of any restaurant I've been at on the upper east side! I also read the reviews but I can't understand how anyone could give P.J. Bernstein's less than 5 STARS!

So unfortunate this is the nearest "deli" to where we live, it is the worst. Can't imagine why we called for a delivery again when the time before was disastrous. Waited over one hour, ended up canceling dinner delivery. That's it, FINISHED!! Nee we ver again.

I have been getting food from PJ Bernstein's for the longest time. The food is good but they do not have their act together when it comes to ordering online. Several times my order was messed up. Do not schedule an order because they never get it right. Their customer service is also terrible. Extremely frustrating experience. Never, again.

Ducked in for a quick lunch one afternoon after a Doctor's appointment. I ordered the soup & 1/2 sandwich and a cup of coffee. Grandpa's chicken soup with chicken meatballs & a turkey on rye. How can such simple food be so fricken GOOD. I wanted to lick the bowl & I inhaled the sandwich. The waitress was sweet & they made you feel so welcome, even when eating solo. I used to take out from here when I lived in the neighborhood 25 years ago & it is still THAT good. Is it possible to actually dream about chicken soup & a turkey sandwich? Yes. Yes it is.

I was so hoping this was one of the last Jewish delis for a reason. Sadly this is not the case. i Had the worst tasteless soggy tuna melt of my life combined with a soggy fatty and thin spread reheated Reuben. Restaurants like this should not be able to serve such awful food seriously. Spend a but more and go to Sarges or Second Avenue deli.

My rating is for the quality of the Corned Beef sandwich. This was such a super let down. I mean, for a Jewish Delicatessen this was an atrocious sandwich...!!!! I had to examine the meat and it looked simply processed and that is not what I was expecting from a twenty dollar sandwich. .... And I know my Corned Beef Sandwiches!!!!!! It hardly tasted good. I will not name the excellent competitors out of respect but P.J. Bernstein, please do Corned Beef correctly!! I honestly feel for the hungry real jewish people out there who are expecting a quality corned beef sandwich. To be fair, their other wares may be fine. Even very good. But I highly recommend that anyone not try their corned beef, pastrami, or brisket even. It's the same cut and surprisingly hard to not do right. Upsetting. Personally, I will not order from there again. That's all. Thank you for reading.

Just placed an order for a couple of sandwiches and soup. The delivery was 45 mins over the eta of 30 mins. The soup was ice cold and the $20 turkey sandwich was not even close to a $8 sandwich. I would never recommend this place to anyone.

So I walked in there... service a little slow. They tried to charge me so 12$ for a 5.99$ Soup ... ridic. It wasn't even that good. they barely put any mayo on my sandwich .. anything to save penny's I guess . I dont think they're hurting that bad for $- they r on a busy st and the place was very clean and a lot of employees (just kinda sitting doing nothing... I guess they can afford to pay them with that 12$ soup they just charged me). I feel taken advantage of - not a good feeling . Will not b coming back here and will not recommend to my friends.

My mother has been going here for a long time for their tongue sandwich and she says it is the best in the city. I finally went to try their tongue sandwich this weekend and got some tongue to go from the deli. It was great! Rodolfo from the front deli section helped me; he was so nice, friendly and professional and very carrying with listening to the exact cut I wanted from the tongue. I am definitely going back to this deli. Also, the sandwich is very generous in meat and the pickles and mustard add to the flavor! I recommend this place. Mi mamá ha estado yendo aquí durante mucho tiempo por el sándwich de lengua y dice que es el mejor de la ciudad. Finalmente fui a probar el sándwich de lengua este fin de semana y me pedí un poco de lengua para llevar. ¡Fue muy rico! Rodolfo, de la sección de fiambres, me ayudó; fue muy amable y profesional y muy preocupado por escuchar el corte exacto que yo quería de la lengua. Definitivamente voy a volver a esta charcutería. I have waited for 90 minutes and called twice. Food no where to be had. Place sucks. Don't order

We had not eaten at PJ Bernstein since the onset of the Covid pandemic. Last night we had two pastrami sandwiches delivered to our apartment, 18 blocks away. The order arrived in 20 minutes from the restaurant's own delivery person, perfectly packaged and still warm. The pastrami was extraordinary, as good as any pastrami we have had, including from Katz's. It was perfectly seasoned, hand sliced and succulent without being excessively fatty. An epic New York pastrami sandwich! Kudos to this renowned delicatessen.

We went for breakfast and left full and satisfied. Our omelette was cooked to order perfectly and the latkes were amazing- crisp on the outside with just the right amount of "fluff" inside! We also ordered challah French toast, which I found a tad too soggy, but my dining companion thought was perfect. Our server was funny, kind, and met us with a smile.

They make the most amazing potato salad, the best in the city. The Turkey sandwich is always fresh juicy Turkey sliced in full slices not little pieces like other delis. Quality food at reasonable prices and grandpas soup is a must.

This once good deli has turned into a complete garbage dump. My wife picked up an order today and upon returning home discovered that they gave her the wrong package. She call the restaurant to request that they deliver the correct order but the "manager" refused. When she returned to pick up the correct order the manager tried to physically intimidate her. Outrageous! We will never return.

Rudest customer service. Much better to order from 2nd avenue deli. Messed up two deliveries - thought first was a fluke. Never ordering from there again.

I've been eating at P.J. Bernstein for 25 years, for the most part I order in. The man who answers the phone with an accent who I believe is the host and the manager as well is the most condescending rude jerkoff I've literally ever come across. It kills me to give them my money strictly because of him. How this dude can still be there is beyond me, he was a douchebag from day 1!!!

I never like to give negative reviews it just isn't my thing. However I do feel as though it is ok to say it wasn't worth the money. I got a cup of soup and half of sandwich and it was $22. Also the service isn't very good & it took over an hour to get my order which was simple. The soup was very tasty but the chicken salad sandwich was probably the worst tasting sandwich I have ever had.

Best spot for comfort food and Jewish deli classics. Ordered for delivery yesterday and it came with the quality I always expect from here! Got matzoh ball soup + a tuna salad sandwich on rye, and it was all great. We also got a Reuben, which is loaded with melted cheese and meat served open face on rye - absolutely delicious. P.s. they were able to get a nice amount of space for outdoor dining due to COVID, so you can now go eat outside there as well! Highly recommend.

Rude and unpleasant. Delivery is 30 minutes late and they can't even tell you what's going on. Avoid this place

Do not patronize this business. I placed a holiday order one we cancelled less than 24 hours before the holiday. Claimed I owed money from a bill 3 years ago. Impossible, they require credit cards before ordering. Nasty and mean on the phone. No customer service.
