I attend the Algiers Pjs location on a regular basis. My usual stop is in the morning on the way to work. I have a specific order and it’s made correctly and delicious without me even having to say it. Bri and Jenn make me feel so welcomed, I drive from the eastbank just to bring my business to them. They take pride in the store and their work. This location is kept clean and makes for a pleasant experience. However and unfortunately, I doubled back and visited a second time one day of last week and had a very different experience. I was helped by a young man with a very nasty attitude. I didn’t get his name but he was working drive through and his hair is styled in a bush. I typically don’t like to leave negative comments but I was so disappointed. He went back and forth with me about collecting my information in order to receive my reward points. He insisted on not taking my phone number or code until after completing the transaction when I told him that every other time it’s collected before payment. He was combative and rude. He displayed frustration by rolling his eyes at me and told me I don’t make any sense. When I insisted he take the information before payment to avoid any errors, he acted as if he didn’t want to assist me any further. The experience was so opposite of what I’m used to at this location I felt compelled to make this comment. The morning crew is delightful and I’m pretty sure my business will follow Bri and Jenn to any location in the city. The evening crew, however, may have some room for improvement.

The music volume is way too loud. People have to raise their voices just to talk. While I’ve noticed improvements recently, this feels like another step backward. It’s a coffee shop, not a club or social shack down. I’ve been to many great cafés that play soft, instrumental music at a low volume, creating a relaxing atmosphere. Here, even with my headphones on high volume, I can still hear the loud, unpleasant music. I actually left much sooner than usual today, even though I typically stay longer. I’m still giving 5 stars because the staff is always friendly and welcoming, but the atmosphere is being ruined by the music choices and volume level.

Google
Absolutely horrible experience at PJ’s Coffee. First off, the service was downright terrible. The staff acted like I was bothering them just by ordering, and to top it off, they gave me the wrong drink—twice. When I politely pointed it out, one of the workers actually cussed me out. Completely unprofessional and out of line. The shop itself was dirty and ratchet—tables were sticky, trash overflowing, and the whole place just felt neglected. I don’t expect luxury, but I do expect basic cleanliness and respect. I will definitely never be coming back. Save your time (and your sanity) and go literally anywhere else for coffee.

I try not to be the type to leave bad reviews but this is well needed. I came in to order a bagel and an iced latte. I received a bagel that had a mushy blueish black spot on the bottom. I was utterly disgusted seeing they served this to me. Every time I go to this establishment there is nothing made right especially in the mornings. Many of the employees are extremely rude and not very friendly at all. The place is overly disgusting with ants and other unknown bugs roaming around the countertop near FOOD. I used to love this location and the employees there. Now it’s ran down and lost all of its southern charm.

Google
If you're going to have seasonal drinks, please teach your employees how to make them properly. I went yesterday and ordered the Iced Banana's Foster (medium) that was SO GOOD, but when I went back today and ordered the same thing (in hopes it was going to be just as good as yesterday's), but LARGE it was the most disgusting coffee I have ever had. Wasted $7 (including tip). Very disappointing & ruined my morning.

Google
I’m not the type of person to write bad reviews, but honestly one of the worst experiences I been through and beyond disappointing. They can’t even make a simple cold brew white mocha when I asked for it. The staff had no clue what they were doing. On top of that, the place is basically run down and uncomfortable. To make matters worse, there’s a guy who basically lives in their bathroom and he also makes the whole place feel unhygienic. It’s shocking that the management does nothing about it, because it completely ruins the atmosphere for paying customers. Save your time and money and go literally anywhere else for coffee. Love their birthday cake stuff though!

I hate to leave a bad review, but it has to be said. This location in Algiers is the worst PJ's I have ever been too. This past week including today I have ordered the same ice-cold brew coffee with pure cane syrup and 3 times already I have had to get out of my car and go inside for the workers to fix my coffee correctly. Why do I need to go back for my order to be fixed? That's the point of having a quick Drive thru. I get charged .80 cents extra for the syrup and never get it in my coffee. The young male worker takes the order and then asks you again once you get by the window to repeat yourself again. Why can't you just get it right the first time? I went in store to get my money back and the acting manager took so long to give me a refund that I asked them to just put the correct sugar in my coffee. It seems like they do this on purpose or something. What I don't understand is how is it that you can't find a physical receipt that I just signed for (10 mins ago). Also, there were some men who clearly are probably the owners on their laptops and talking and none of them tried to help me fix this issue. I will never go to this PJs in Algiers ever again. Side note. Their sweets are always burnt.

Google
One time on a Tuesday I came in and I saw the manager stuffing her face with blueberry muffins fresh out the package. I'm pretty sure this is not allowed nor the first time. Are PJ employees allowed to be eating on the job, especially in front of customers? I know this was not the norm when I worked in food and around customers. Hopefully someone addresses this, it was really nasty and greedy of her.

Yelp
A beautiful and quaint space with friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere! With the library recently closed, I've been able to come here and get some work done. The music is good and the noise level is super reasonable. The drinks are also very nice, and the pastries always look so scrumptious. A nice little neighborhood spot for sure!

Yelp
I've been coming to this Algiers PJ's for more years than I can count-- ever since it's original location was next to when there used to be a Blockbuster! So with that, I can say with full confidence that this PJ's never misses. Every trip I've made here, I've left satisfied and so happy that this PJ's location has held on for so long. The workers are always so friendly and it's a great spot to get some studying/work done. PJ's is one of the best establishments to enter Algiers, and I hope it continues doing well for many more years to come. Also - there's a super convenient & speedy drive-thru!

Yelp
Everything is always hot and ready with my online pickup order. The staff is always nice and very welcoming! I love the vibe of this location! It is my favorite location to go to!
google avatar

Janie B.

Yelp
Anytime I visit NOLA I have to make PJs stop to start my day. Staying with some relatives on the Westbank so this location was the closest. For the sake of time and space, I ended up having to go to SB due to poor service and lack of inventory. There's no sense of urgency whatsoever...2 days in a row. So I unfortunately will not be returning to this location.
google avatar

C B.

Yelp
This place is not what it used to be. The coffee is either too strong or too watered down. The staff does not know the menu and will consistently mess up my order. I keep trying them hoping that the last visit was an off day, it's been 3 times in a row and each time it has been worse than the last.
google avatar

Alison R.

Yelp
Emily just made me the most delicious velvet ice, I took one sip and couldn't stop after! The inside was very clean, I enjoyed sitting in the booth and working on my laptop. Both of the girls working are very friendly.

Yelp
This place was my go to for my morning coffee and breakfast this year and recently they've crashed. They must have had a major staff turnover and the replacement staff has not been trained to the level of the former. If management was smart, they'd go find the former staff and offer them double the raises they probably asked for to come back. If not, someone else will be leading that space within 2 years.

Pretty G.

Yelp
The muffin was hard and veggie & eggs was horrible . I went through the drive thru and the little boy with the twist in his hair was courteous or friendly. I had to ask for the receipt and even once it was given to me not at any point did he say...Have a nice day or Thank you for coming . You need to do better when training your staff. Because I am one and done with this location. Anyone that reads this review DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION it's terrible

Jacqui D.

Yelp
Seriously overpriced, my specialty coffee was not even close to returning at another time.

Celeste J.

Yelp
Firstly, the young lady working here is really sweet, recommend things and was very informative far as communication. Far as the tall heavy set dude with curly hair... RUDE. I was waiting in line with my husband and he bumped into me without saying excuse me and my purse fell. Definitely wouldn't recommend this location..do not sell beignets
google avatar

Ashley L.

Yelp
I got a white chocolate latte and a ham and swiss croissant. I guess they forgot to put the white chocolate along with my debit card! I had to come back and get both! SMH. in addition to that, when he handed me the croissant, he offered to take it back and warm it up. shouldn't they have already been done?! do NOT recommend. would've been faster to just wait in line at Starbucks.

Moe G.

Yelp
Thank you for the $35 dollar cold frozen sandwich...... go elsewhere and save your money

Bert H.

Yelp
Three times I tried to get their cinnamon roll and they were out. They don't do the new beignets and their address shows up wrong for delivery drivers so my order never shows up. I won't be going back to this location.
google avatar

Alicia L.

Yelp
Service is getting slower and slower which is disappointing. And today when I came in it was busy and slow and a young lady looked as if she was checking inventory under the cream/sugar station and around the restaurant, which I understand, but maybe help out if it is that busy....or at least maybe notice the dead roach on the counter that she walked right by.

Yelp
I've been a customer ( 5 days per week) to PJs in Algiers for over 15 years. Also go to the belle chasse location perhaps 1-2 times. The Algiers location is closer for me. Most of the time I get a latte and a pastry. In the past few months, my pastries have been way under cooked. I've spoke to the staff about this. They were all receptive and polite. This morning, I first tried a cinnamon roll and then a scone. Both were well under baked. I hope this can be addressed and corrected. I love my Algiers PJs coffee and the staff. Just another side note: the Belle Chasse store has much more variety of pastries. This past week, I asked the manager about the cinnamon roll muffins that the BC store has. I was told Algiers store wasn't going to offer that because cinnamon rolls were already on the menu. That just doesn't make sense to me being that you have blueberry scones and also blueberry muffins. I'm hoping to hear back from the owner and see some results and continue to support and enjoy my PJs

Yelp
This PJ's Coffee is one of the only coffee shops in Algiers so it's popular by default. We came here two days in a row for a jolt of caffeine to start the morning. It's a small shop located in a strip mall off General De Gaulle. Here are a few quick pros and cons: PROS --They open at 6AM during the week and only an hour later on the weekend. --There's a drive thru--perfect for people who can't will themselves to get out their car before their first dose of coffee. The convenience is certainly a plus. --The pastry case features everything you would expect from a coffee shop including muffins, croissants, cinnamon rolls, donuts and granola bars. CONS --Expect long wait times and limited seating depending on the time of day. Like I said, it's the only option for miles. At times, the entrance is a revolving door of customers streaming in and out. The parking lot and drive thru were busy on both days we visited. I don't know what it'll take to get another coffee shop in the area but until then PJ's coffee is a dependable option.

Yelp
The employees at this PJ's are amazing. Sometimes my life requires that I consume massive amounts of caffeine twice a day. I normally stop on my way to work, then again mid day. It's those mid-day stops that bring me to this PJ's and help me survive the day. Located in what I remember as Aurora Village, this shopping area bears almost no similarities to the 1980s or 90s versions I remember from growing up. In fact, PJ's is located now around where Godfather's Pizza or the road leading to the Movie Theater would've been back then. That may not mean much to any of you who are reading this so I'll move on. PJ's is located in a kind of out of the way spot from where it used to be. In fact, had it not been for Yelp and a sign stuck in the grass on DeGaulle, I would've never found this location. My experiences here involve the drive thru which is a bit oddly designed. There's no real good way to get back to DeGaulle other than make a u-turn as you get your coffee. Besides that, this location has been great. As I mentioned before, it's the employees here who make it so great. The coffee is the same as any PJ's, which is to say, very good, but the people are stellar. Regardless of which employee I encounter at the drive-thru, they are happy to see me, friendly, humble, appreciative, and just downright great. So here's to you PJ's employees. Thanks for making my afternoon coffee even better.

Yelp
PJ's coffee is a staple of New Orleans coffee scene. I do enjoy their velvet ices and especially their frozen hot chocolate. I don't know how they mix in the exact flavor of hot chocolate in a cold drink but it works! They usually have fun, seasonal drinks as well. They offer food that can range from packaged yogurt to bagels, but the real star is their muffins. The chocolate muffins are super rich (sometimes too rich), and I enjoy their cappuccino chocolate chip muffins too. This location has a drive through which is a big perk!!! The staff here has always been lovely too.

Yelp
PJ's has been my go to for the past couple of weeks for me to catch up on paperwork and grab a nice cup of joe. The ladies that has been working there in the AM are very pleasant and work very fast. You can see people come in and stay no longer than 4-5 minutes. They are very accommodating to many orders as many people have special requests throughout. I don't mind this place since there is a new Starbucks opened in the area as it is less crowded and less noisy to do work. I would recommend anybody to utilize this location for business and/or coffee.
google avatar

Shelby G.

Yelp
GREAT Place to sit down and take care of work. Wifi isn't the best but reading a book here would make your day. Velvet ICE coffee's are bomb.
google avatar

Veronica R.

Yelp
Worst customer service ever! And my Med iced coffee took about 20 mins. Never again!!!
google avatar

Jonathan C.

Yelp
This place was a little hard to find. My coworker and I did a few circles before one of us spotted it next to the fitness center. I came here to do some work on the computer. There were outlets everywhere and pretty comfortable seating. I had a large hot chocolate and two cookies. The coco was decent, not the best but not the worst. The two cookies were soft and tasty.
google avatar

Jessica T.

Yelp
I ordered a pretty basic black coffee but it satisfied me enough. The staff was really nice and area was very clean! I recommend also wearing a jacket because it does get cold in there often if you plan to study there too and it's also pretty empty so you won't be bothered too much by too many people coming in and out like in Starbucks!
google avatar

Marielle S.

Yelp
Pretty good PJ's with nice booths and free WiFi if you have work to do. I stopped in here to get my usual iced coffee and it was the usual good PJ's coffee that I really like. My one complaint about the place is they wouldn't honor a coupon I had. They explained that the coupon could only be honored at certain locations, but there was nothing on the coupon that said that- it just said I could use it at any PJ's location. Anyway, I went to my regular PJ's a few days later and they not only honored the coupon, but they told me that it can be honored at any PJ's and the folks at this place screwed up. Long story short: the staff here didn't know what was going on. Other than that, the place is okay.
google avatar

Stacey C.

Yelp
I frequent PJ's since I live so close. I always get the latte with almond milk and 3 Stevia. It's delicious! My hubby gets the regular latte or granita. I typically get my son the almond croissant and often times we're going there by his request. They don't get 5 stars because they are regularly out of whatever croissant I order AND they lack in selection. They don't have much options for gluten intolerance or vegan diet. I'm allergic to milk so both are very important. Other than that, coffee is great and the staff are all super friendly!
google avatar

James L.

Yelp
Good coffee and pastries, semi-private wi-fi (always use a VPN!), nice friendly staff, great regulars, clean bathrooms. The music makes me suicidal. It's horrible. Major drawback: They REALLY back up during morning rush and other peaks. They have a lot of elaborate drinks that take forever to make, and there's generally only two baristas at work, who have to manage the drive-thru as well as the front counter. 13 minute wait this morning. UPDATED: Their weekday morning A-Team could go to Barista Olympics and take gold with almost insolent ease. A surplus star for the Morning Girls.

Ashley S.

Yelp
Since I work in the area this is my go to place for morning coffee. I love the Granitas and velvet ice coffee. I'm always in and out really fast. Don't usually indulge in the baked goods but they always look delicious Pros: less crowded than the neighboring starbucks and better service Cons: seating area is usually messy in the afternoons
google avatar

Amanda S.

Yelp
First off let me say the employee we encountered inside was extremely friendly and welcoming! The iced tea and coffee were perfectly decent. But I have to say this place is filthy!! None of the four empty tables was remotely clean. Drive through looks busy....
google avatar

Adi S.

Yelp
Easy in and out at the drive-through for my granita. The drive through is important because during the workday I'm wearing my uniform, which I am not allowed to wear off base. The granite was good, as always.
google avatar

Kelley T.

Yelp
I love that this location has a drive thru, but the design is horrible. The ordering microphone is one car away from the pick up window. Plus the line is always so long, you end up blocking people in that need to leave the parking lot. The great thing is the coffee and pastries are wonderful there.
google avatar

Maria G.

Yelp
I wish this place was a little cleaner. I've never seen anyone step from behind the counter to change the trash. I was there last week and it was literally overflowing. I love their food especially the spinach croissant and their tropical green tea. Other than that..the bathrooms are clean and my service is quick because I avoid morning hours. But the girls know how to get the line down and get orders correct.
google avatar

Caroline G.

Yelp
I have not yet been inside but I love the new convenience of the drive thru. When I am tired before or after work I can just zip on through and be on my way!

Kathy C.

Yelp
Told Could not toast croissant or cut in half but asked server to try as had served that way before and get routinely at other establishments. Served a croissant not cut and smashed flatter than a pancake. Then, no butter. Out of butter at 10:30. Doh.

Patrick R.

Yelp
The wifi is horrible. That's a deal breaker. The coffee is good; its PJ's. Our last trip there, this morning, I had to tell the counter person 3 times what my order was. Not sure what that was about. I liked the Old site better.
