10 New Summer Restaurant Openings In The Hamptons 2024

"Ruschmeyers is a Hamptons institution that reinvents its restaurant space every year. This year, Placēbö says they’re bringing Latin flavors and tastes of Puerto Rico to Montauk. That means you’ll eat things like saucy fried fish with plantains and wagyu paella. The team behind Placēbö includes folks from Somewhere Nowhere, a rooftop bar and lounge in Chelsea, so we’re predicting that this will likely be this summer’s hot spot for showing off your best resort wear and throwing back dressed oysters." - anne cruz

As a yearly summer montauk advocate. Having a new restaurant in town is always exciting. To start, we ordered the entire menu. For starters the oysters were some of the best oysters piece ever had. Amazing oysters with Beautiful summer lemon dressed style. Tiradito was one of the best dishes of the night. White fish served with fried conch on top. Absolutely incredible. Caviar was amazing with a Puerto Rican touch. Nice briny & beautiful finish. All appetizers were to die for. As far as our middle course went, we got the black truffle tortellini pasta. Homemade pasta in a perfect black truffle cream sauce with shaved truffle on top. I should’ve ordered three of this pasta. It’s definitely a hit. We also had some other middle course items. Lobsters Mac & cheese. A black squid ink pasta with uni & caviar & clams. Out of all three of the pasta dishes, the truffle tortellini has the spot for #1, but give all three a shot. As far as entrees go, we got the whole Black Sea bass, tomahawk & A5 Waygu Paella. Both the Black Sea bass & tomahwak were good, but the real show is the A5 Waygu Paella. Rich, deep flavors, so buttery & delicious. I would get this over any of the entree s on the menu. Overall the appetizers & entrees were amazing. We finished with their whole cake, which was very tasty. Service & hospitality was amazing. Servers were on top of every part of the meal, perfect flow to the meal. The manager came by to check every single table. PJ the manager, hand sliced the tomahawk & deboned the sea bass at the side of the table. The attention to care from the managers, servers, bussers & more was amazing. We did get sides, I’d like to see the creamed spinach be a little more thicker, it was a little wet but that’s just my personal preference. Overall I think the stars of the show are the A5 Paella, all of their fresh seafood (ceviche, tiradito,). If you want a good night, this place has to be on your bucket list. We also got the chance to check out the invite only speakeasy located inside the restaurant. Don jaguars. Go for the food, stay for the drinks. Amazing time.

Placebo is going to be a Montauk’s newest go to spot… it’s a cool vibe with great service. We had the Wagyu Paella, and it was perfect, 10 out of 10, roast chicken was juicy and cooked just right. Love what they’ve done with the spot… go for the food and stay for the drinks!

Wow! Amazing addition to the Montauk summer scene. The food was incredible, I love the latin flare on american cuisine. Highly recommend all the seafood dishes (so fresh!) and I heard they have an off-menu burger thats up there with the best... After 9pm the music goes up a notch and the lights get low as they transition into a dinner party. SO FUN! Love the cocktails and if you can, check out the cocktail lounge in the back (Don Jaguar's).

Fresh new take on a classic Montauk staple. Come for the food, stay for the great crowd, energy, and music into the late evening. Scallop pot pie was a unique and tasty dish. Black cod was executed to perfection. Cocktails were great and the team and effort behind our visit was apparent. Will definitely return.

Where do I start?? July 4th weekend in Montauk, and we were looking for a great meal. Placēbö in Montauk was not it. If you're looking to dine in a club with obnoxiously loud music, you may like this place despite the extremely overpriced food. I was expecting a fine dining experience based on other reviews. I knew I was going to be disappointed as soon as I saw the paper napkins on the table. Our table was directly under a speaker, so conversation wasn't possible. We requested another table, but we were told they could not accommodate us even though the dining room was half full. The food was nothing to brag about, and after a $250 meal for 2 people, we found ourselves in town looking for a second dinner. Fortunately, we found an amazing 42 Oz tomahawk at "The Muse" for a fraction of the price with a much better menu. Lunch earlier in the day at "668 The Gig Shack" was far superior. Drinks were weak and tasteless at Placebo and were made with bottom shelf liquor.  The main dining room was nice, the staff was attentive, but the rest of the place needs work. The mens bathroom reminded me of a college dorm, with only one stall in service in the ladies' room. There are far superior places to dine. If you're looking for a frat party club vibe, this is your stop.

My new favorite dinner spot in Montauk! Such a unique mix of Latin & American combos - do not snooze on this spot. Fun ambiance, the perfect weekend dinner location. Sea scallop pot pie and lamb rack are insane - must orders!

This past weekend, I had the great opportunity to visit Placebo in Montauk for the first time, and I must say, I highly recommend it as an excellent addition to Montauk. Having spent several summers in Montauk, I can confidently say the town needed a place like this. The food is delicious, blending Latin flavors beautifully. The ceviche is to die for, and the fish is incredibly fresh. The dining experience is next level, with the manager/host Narciso being extremely welcoming and clearly experienced in the industry. His ability to manage the crowd is evident. Beyond providing an excellent dining experience, Placebo also offers fantastic entertainment vibes. We enjoyed a spectacular show by two flamenco dancers who engaged the diners and elevated the whole atmosphere, making it incredibly fun. The wine list is on point, and the cocktails are highly recommended, especially the one with mezcal. Please try it! I am very excited to return and know they have different shows throughout the summer, so I’ll be keeping an eye out for all the performances. Samantha Díaz, who is in charge of the entertainment programming, truly excels in her role. I highly recommend checking out Placebo in Montauk. It’s a must-visit!

Yelp
This was a really fun spot to visit on a Friday night in Montauk! We had a big group with us that they were able to accommodate. The décor is very cute and jungle-themed. For drinks i recommend a frozen espresso martini! it is ice cold and refreshing and the perfect pick-me-up. For food, we did everything family style. We had the watermelon salad with fresh herbs and honey ricotta. We also had the tamales which came already peeled and topped with sliced onion. The black truffle tortellini was also outstanding. Our favorite was the wagyu risotto paella with lemon, mushroom, and jalapeno. Definitely get a side of truffle fries!! The party starts around 11 and the dj is very good!

Yelp
10/10 this is the new "it" spot in Montauk! It's a restaurant, club and bar all in one. I thought that was pretty dope. The vibe is young, and everyone dresses to the nine, which I love. I love the decor, and the nightclub scene. The drinks are 10/10 I recommend the mezcal mule, it was delicious. The food was fire, we ordered the watermelon salad, the ceviche, and the wagu paella. FIRE! 10/10 must eat, must drink, must party here!

Yelp
TERRIBLE. Nasty security guard, nasty customers on line cutting each other, packed like sardines on a line, disorganized and out of control. Do not waste your time coming here after 10pm. You will be wasting your night.

Yelp
This is definitely the best place in Montauk right now. Can't wait to go back next weekend. They food service and Ambiance. Just perfect.

Ashley L.

Yelp
Waited 45 mins for a table with reservation and over 2 hours for food, food came out cold and at different times. Had to beg the hostess to sit us even with a reservation. Do not waste your time go literally ANYWHERE ELSE

Yelp
Amanda was our server and she was great! She handled our large party well with fast drinks, food, and fun bottle service.

Yelp
Worst place in the Hampton's. I'm not one to leave a review but I felt this was necessary. My friends had a table and I came to meet them and the woman at the door kept denying me saying I can't get in without a table even though we had one. I kept arguing and finally they let all my friends in on the said table and refused to let me in. Someone who was apparently "my friend" reported back that the staff was mocking me saying I was dressed "too slutty" to enter. Meanwhile I was wearing a tank top and shorts, the same as the entire crowd there. I'm a decent looking, humble girl, and I know a good amount of people who run in this crowd in the Hampton's and New York and I have never been spoken to way I was tonight. Please fire that girl and shut them down.

Yelp
We came here during our weekend getaway with friends to the Hamptons just as they opened at 7 pm without a reservation. They were kind enough to seat us outdoors right away. The ambiance is quite nice and the service is excellent. I did see the other review mentioning about getting rained on outside, but we were thankfully more fortunate with calmer weather. The service thruout the night was excellent, and their drinks were delicious. I especially loved their Tzatziki margarita as it was my first time ever trying this flavor and got a second before the night ended. We started off by trying a few of their apps, the phyllo rolls, stuffed calamari and beef tartare. The quanity for each was small, but I do recommend trying the beef tartare dolmades. The four of us guys then shared a rib eye steak and a braised lamb rack, and it was exquisite. The steak was a perfect medium rare, and it was delicious. The lamb was buttery soft and came with a couple of different sauces. The four ladies each ordered the signature kebabs, and they were very tasty, too. The bill is, of course, on the higher end, with each person spending at least $100 each, but we all loved dinner here and will definitely be recommending this as a must try.

Yelp
I was able to go to the venue on Memorial Day Weekend and I love how it has been improved and decorated. The new lounge in the back gives a private VIP club feel and had a great time with friends that have all grown up out here. I was able to go back a few times during the July 4 week and again the hospitality and service were great. Ian and Carlos are doing a great job with the team! I cannot wait to go back

Yelp
DO not waste your time or money and come here for dinner. I could see it being an ok spot if you want to club, but that's about it. The food was sub par. The cocktail pitcher is a huge rip off, it was basically all juice and no alcohol. If you're a party of two, you might get sat in the bar area like we did, which is loud and obnoxious. The manager offered us a round of drinks on him after dinner, which was nice, but we didn't want to stick around at all. This place should consider ditching the restaurant aspect and go all in as a club.

Grace B.

Yelp
waited TWO HOURS to be sat with a reservation, plus 1 hour for food once sat. Food was good but over priced. Vibes inside were great. House music and live dj. Booked reservation for outside and got sat inside. Have to really bribe the hostess' to get sat on time.

Michael C.

Yelp
Food was OK. A mixed casamigos drink was THIRTY FIVE DOLLARS! Complete rip off, cheap decor.

Tristan H.

Yelp
My first time here with family. Pretty awful experience as a whole. Started the night waiting 45 minutes after my reservations for the table. Sat down and received poor service all around. The price/ proportion ratio is terrible... we left the restaurant starving after spending way too much money. I will certainly not be coming here again and hope that something changes...

Pat L.

Yelp
The place is fairly new and that's exactly what it feels like. Everyone besides the bartenders seemed to be scrambling to be able to do anything. My party waited 45 minutes to be seated after having reservations weeks in advance. The food to me would just be considered good but not great. The proportions are absolutely ridiculous to be labeled as something the group could share. My entire party left hungry after spending a very nice chunk of money. You don't get serving spoons with any of the dishes that are meant to be shared, no cloth napkins just paper, the outdoor seating is a nice setting but the chairs that they have are cheap and brutal to sit in taking away from actually being able to enjoy the decor. You can only converse with the people to the right and left of you because of how low the chairs were in comparison to the height of the table. This spot just needs a whole lot of work to actually make it and it is certainly doable for themselves to change and make better. Hopefully in years to come if they make it, it'll be better but I would probably pass due to the many other great options surrounding Montauk. For now, I certainly wish we went somewhere else last night but I wish them all the luck I suppose. In the end, it's just a classic Montauk money grab- you can find better.

Stephanie C.

Yelp
Enjoyed the Mediterranean-inspired food and the lively ambience for dinner (before it turned into a club for late-night). We had a big group and were taken care of well. The cocktails were creative and delicious. Would go back!

Jeffrey D.

Yelp
DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT. Unbelievably bad. Forced valet parking $20, $25 margaritas (we each had 1), impossibly bad service with entrees coming out before appetizers and waiter forgetting 1 entree, cheesy thumping loud music, and ridiculously cold air conditioning make this $500 meal for 3 (with no desert because we skipped the $38 cheesecake) one of the worst dining experiences of my life. Its called Placebo because that is what it is, FAKE. If I could give this a zero I would. Every single second of this experience was horrible. If you want to light money on fire while going to a restaurant posing as a restaurant, this is your place. There is nothing redeeming about this place other than the tiny spark that the chef has put into some moderate cooking, but nothing could EVER entice me to revisit what has to be one of the worst ideas to come to Montauk. It will be out of business by September and thought of as yet another scam. DO NOT EAT HERE.

Yelp
Absolutely horrendous establishment. Wish I could give 0 stars. We came for dinner Saturday and were seated outside. After we had just finished ordering our food it began to thunder, lightning and rain. We ran inside to avoid getting wet, assuming the restaurant would have a contingency plan for us and the others eating outside. They did not, and did not care. They made no effort to reseat us, told us they don't have anywhere for us to sit and that it's not their fault. Told us to "wait at the bar" for tables that did not exist, and then said the only way we could eat dinner was at a table inside with a minimum $5k spend. They did not care whatsoever and continued to seat other people inside even though everyone outside was completely screwed and table-less. Management and the hostesses couldn't care less, had the nastiest attitudes, were incredibly rude and made no effort to own their mistake or apologize/offer any remedy or solution. I've never in my life been treated so poorly at a restaurant. Avoid this place at all costs.

Greg B.

Yelp
Food very good. Total rip off though. Be aware. $55 for a tiny pour if Casa Amigos Anejo. Manager said - oh well, we'll be closed in 3 days. Trying to rip off visitors and make as much as possible before close. Be careful.
