We recently did a post wedding cocktail hour here and it was perfect!! I worked with Beaver setting our buyout up. The communication was great and they were very accommodating! The vibe is eclectic and fun, the guests loved the pretzels, and I highly recommend this venue!

Cool cocktail bar upstairs in the King Street area. Overall great vibe and really extensive listing of cocktails to choose from each with a thoughtful and interesting twist.

Vibes are IMMACULATE here. Great lighting and atmosphere, and the cocktails are unique and tasty. Any of the drinks with herbs are super fresh and earthy, in the best way possible. They even have a back room showing action movies like the early Fast and the Furious movies!

Currently one of my favorite cocktail bars. It's really a tasting room so they don't always have things but their in house creations are universally delicious and the bartenders are awesome.

Vibes are good, cocktails are fine, but uninspiring

I never tried a Moscow mule before until I went on a trip for a family reunion. I tried a sample at total wine and more. Let me just say this company’s mixed drinks are fabulous!!! I absolutely love the Moscow mule and the old fashioned. I’ve tried other brands Moscow mules and nothing, nothing compares to this company’s Moscow mule!!!! I tell people that are looking for a good drink to try, I tell them to try plain spoke’s drink because they don’t disappoint!!

Thursday 5/9 at 4:30 my friends and I showed up to plain spoke to have a cocktail. We go in and get greeting by the bartender and he serves us and we pay for our first drink. Everything was good and we were satisfied and planned on chilling there for the night because it was not busy and even discussed ordering food and more drinks. Not even 10 minutes after receiving our drink the bartender says to us “just letting you guys know I’m not offended or anything, but not leaving a dollar on the bar after getting served is a really good way of not getting good service by your bartender. I know you guys are students but I’m just saying” This was completely rediculous. He immediately assumed we were not going to be tipping him. We’re also not students. My character felt very judged. I always tip my servers and bartenders before I leave. Sorry it wasn’t within the first 10 minutes of us being there. We finished our drinks and left feeling very uncomfortable. I’ve never experienced something like this at a bar before.

Love the vibe of this place, and love the menu to try their cocktails on tap. The service is just ok. most of the space is first-come seating with no table service, and bartenders don't have a great system/patience when people are crowding at the only open bar spot to order (which is poorly located). it's not a craft cocktail scene, most cocktails are tastings of their premade canned cocktails.

Stopped by here for a night cap. We honestly had no idea this space was here. You can almost miss it, but the entrance is to the left of Young Blood (be careful on the stairs up!) The interior was such a fun vibe. We loved the purple lighting and all the decor, made for great photo backgrounds. Also, the view is so underrated. The windows on the right side overlook King Street! The drinks were great also! Our favorites were the clear old fashioned and Miami vice. Staff were super nice. They were a little busy for a Friday night but we still got everything we ordered relatively fast. Overall great experience. So happy to have a place to go where I can order a fun cocktail!

Such a fun and chic spot to grab a few cocktails in downtown Madison! The neon lights in Plain Spoke make for a unique ambience that seemingly keeps me coming back time and time again! What can I say, I just love the vibes here. I think it's important to note that this is a smaller (and pricier) spot that tends to get pretty packed. You might be waiting at the bar for a bit depending on how busy it is! Also, the staircase entrance is steep and may be a bit daunting to those who've had one too many cocktails so be cautious!

Service was decent but the drinks were not worth the price. They were all on the gun and are not handmade, so if you're looking for originally made cocktails, I would not recommend this place.

Plain Spoke is a great place to grab a cocktail with friends. I always enjoy the ambiance and the drinks are so pretty. The bartenders are friendly and efficient! It can be a little loud so I recommend going earlier in the night if you want to have a longer conversation!

I am a FAN of this place. Yummy cocktails - CHECK. Upbeat, classy, fresh AF ambiance- CHECK. Fantastic location- CHECK. My friend and I stopped by here to grab a drink after dinner and it was perfect. I love their cocktails by the can but to get a hand crafted one was even better. Plus prices are reasonable, both drinks and shots, and it's just so fun and classy to be in!

LOVE the speakeasy vibe! The neon! Cutely garnished drinks! The extremely narrow seating! JK about loving that last one. I went with some friendos, but I imagine this would be a great low stakes place to bring someone on a first date. There's no booths or anything, just some just little tables and seats that line the walls. Be weary-I was only able to fit half a cheek on the seat! The lighting is nice and moody though. The drinks: Hibiscus cooler - yummy! A great refreshing drink Sazerac - packs a punch but very full bodied flavor Evergreen Collins - like a breath of fresh air, the most herbaceous of the bunch Mai tai - a classic done well TLDR: go for the aesthetic, the cute drinks the neon!

One of my favorite "lowkey" bars in Madison! The place is on the smaller, more intimate side but it gets VERY lively. Really enjoyed their drinks / slushies and decor!

Stopped in for a night cap after dinner downtown, and was pleasantly surprised by the chill vibe. Plain Spoke Cocktail Company gives off an 80's vibe, and it didn't disappoint with the music selection! It was very clean and tastefully decorated, with a simplistic feel. The staff was friendly, and there are so many options to choose from for drinks. I was intrigued to try a pack of the canned cocktails to go, but they won't let you drink any there - so instead I opted for a freshly made cocktail. It was very tasty! There are two rooms, the bar room and then another off of that with plenty of tables. The view from that room is fantastic! It was fun to watch the nightlife while sipping a drink near the window. I will definitely be back!

Went here last night for a night on the town! The vibe was electric, full of music and laughter. The crowd was a good mix of casual and dance and seemed to be having a great time. I got the witty banter drink- very bright, fruity, and almost resembled a fruit snack. I would love to get this one again! Service was okay, the bartenders felt a little rushed and stressed, but it also was a very busy rush that happened. I'd definitely go back and bring some more friends to chill in what feels like a hidden gem!

Went out to dinner and drinks with friends and afterwards we randomly stopped here to check it out. We had a blast here with the fun and creative drinks! I am a sucker for frozen drinks so I ordered the "Party in the USA" red white & blue drink it was sooooo good! The vibe was cool too with all the neon lights and music, almost felt like a quick trip back to the 80's ;) Our group had a great time trying different drinks and the bartenders did an awesome job! Go here for happy hour and be amazed! The bartender was cool and fun. The drinks we're beautiful, tasty and strong! The vibe was perfect for a ladies get together. And the best, happy hour prices are actually cheap and include food options from downstairs that are delicious. I have zero complaints or suggestions other than go there! I'm kind of mad to share this secret because I know it'll get crowded but it's worth it to sing their praises.

Plain Spoke is my favorite cocktail bar in Madison. I love the atmosphere and all the neon. I've tried an array of their drinks from their cosmo and dirty martinis, to wine spritzers, and frozen cocktails. Everything has been delicious!

Fun time for another Saturday funday. Biked up to king street for our third stop because we wanted a fun cocktail. The atmosphere in the daytime is very chill and chic with a 90's Miami vice vibe. Plenty of space to sit and hang out for a while around 2pm. I got the Blue Paradise and my friend got the hibiscus drink. Both were worth the $9-$10 we spent. We will definitely come back for a night ride cocktail! Bonus: gender neutral bathrooms.

We were excited to try this spot, the interior is trendy with chill vibes. It was relatively busy but we did go on a Friday night. There were two bar tenders who were attentive and prompt. They have a decent size list of cocktails on draft but were unfortunately out of a few. Lots of fruity and blended options. They have a very small non-draft cocktail list and don't keep a wide variety of spirits in stock. Thus, they can't really make anything that's not on the menu. This was disappointing to us because the ambiance was cool. All in all we wouldn't go out of our way to come back but also wouldn't avoid this spot either.

Always a chill vibe here. Good drinks and reasonably priced. It gets crowded on the weekend, so plan accordingly. I wouldn't recommend the food, Great spot for 1-3 parties. There's a back room for bigger groups but need to come early for a spot. The bartenders are cool too.

I had a great time at Plain Spoke! My drinks were delicious and our bartender was fast and friendly. I had so much fun watching him prepare different cocktails all night. Being a weeknight there were a few people there but it was far from crowded. It was easy to have a conversation and we had a great time! I wish they had some food to snack on, that's truly my only knock.

First of it's kind in Madison! I went with a group of people and tried a variety of cocktails. As far as I could tell they only serve the cocktails on their menu. They were very extravagant and fun to try. Each cocktail was about $11-12 which was reasonable. I wouldn't recommend this place for a group. Most tables are meant for 2-3 people. A big group was a tight squeeze but doable since it was just drinks.

Bar staff was attentive, movie playing was great, and the drinks were good and unique! Recommend coming here if you can!

Plain Spoke is by far my favorite spot in Madison! First of all, Lucas is the best and most personable bar tender. He is so kind, friendly, and knowledgeable. Every cocktail he makes is gold! He remembers my husband and I every time we come and knows exactly what we order. He is seriously the best! The drinks are super unique and and delicious. They have an extensive drink menu, appetizers and small bites, vegan donuts, and loads of cool garnishes to top off your cocktail. I've loved every drink I've gotten at Plain Spoke! Their cans of mixed drinks are also really good and high ABV. You would be shocked at how good the taste is, especially since it's in a can. The atmosphere is super cool and trendy! They have lots of neon signs and decor, plants all around, and modern tables and chairs. It's such a cool relaxing place to enjoy a drink. They also are taking COVID 19 very seriously. They offer masks up and hand sanitizer upon entry. They also sanitize between customers, have all table and chairs spread out at least 6 feet, enforce wearing masks, encourage customers to stay seated, and follow capacity limits. I feel very safe at Plain Spoke!

Plain Spoke may be Madison's best kept secret when it comes to beautifully crafted cocktails both on tap and made to order. Located on the upper level in the middle of bustling King Street, you get a great birds-eye view of all the happenings below while being seemingly transported back in time once you've cross the threshold. The aesthetic is very 80's-chic with it's pink and blue neon and otherwise muted lighting along with some sporadic foliage. Although a small space, it is easy to have an intimate gathering of two to a few either at the bar, at one of the high tops peering out the picture windows or in the special events room. No matter how you like your drink - classic or modern, sweet or dry, frozen or neat, Plain Spoke is sure to have a drink for you.

My favorite new bar in Madison. I love this place. The vibe is perfect for a happy hour with friends. I have been here several times just to drink and have a good time. You never know who you are going to see here. One time I saw the news anchor from Channel 15. The drinks are great. The bartenders are great and really really nice. The food is food especially the Crunch Wrap. The best time to come is during happy hour from 3-6 and my go to drink is the sazerac!

The Plain Spoke Cocktail Company is my favorite place in Madison to have some amazing craft cocktails! I must warn you the place is a little hard to find on a top floor across from the Majestic and you will have to hike up a steep staircase to get to the place but it's an awesome, fun, trendy, retro vibe place with lots of neon lighting. They have an awesome creative unique drink menu with crafty cocktails on draft everything from tropical drinks, twists on old classic drinks like an Old Fashion, delicious frozen slushy drinks like Pina Coladas, etc. I usually order an awesome Pina Colada or Miami Vice frozen drink which is super refreshing. Many people also really love the Hibiscus Cooler which is bubbly bourbon & berries cocktail which is super delicious! The drinks are all reasonably priced on average around $9-12. This place is not open super late usually only open until midnight but a great place to gather with friends or on a date night! Overall, this is a great destination to check out in the downtown Madison area. :)

This is the go-to for a drink after work or a night out with friends! Great ambiance and intimate setting. It gives spaceship vibes which is fun! Staff has always been friendly. Would recommend!

Affordable and good draft cocktails. Very pretty view. Place is def a vibe. If its the sharp kinda taking pictures for instagram vibe you're looking for then def the spot for you. Really good views of king street too.

Craft cocktails on tap? Yes! They are all on tap and make in house! This is a true craft cocktail bar! Such a fun vibe and creative cocktail list. The testing spritz face in my favorite hands down! Nice and light for the summer. My partner like the gin Ricky tooo strong for me! Staff all feel like friends and the space is beautiful!

So, holy shit. My fiancé and I are from Florida, and we love a good frozen cocktail-- even in the winter. THAT'S NOT HERE. Before I even get started on the Disaster in the USA (as it should be called) the bartender ignored us for about 10 minutes. After we had JUST been helped, another bartender from the other side came over to check because our bartender appeared to literally not care we were here. He cleaned the bar adjacent to us before even waving. In fact, he didn't at all. "What do you want." Now, my money back. My time back. Of course, I didn't know what was about to unfold or else I would have just walked out at that alone. So, he makes my drink. Party in the USA. He then pours my fiancé's drink. Anyways, my drink was shit. As was his, expectedly-- it was on tap like what did we expect. Of course, nowhere was it expressed bar drinks were tap, so how were we to know? Also, the bartender with a traditional American eagle on his neck served a pretty clearly 19 year old girl a shot right in front of us... then took one with her. Like... what? He didn't even ID. I'm 22, and he didn't ID me either. That's far too close for comfort. Pretty sure nobody beyond 3 obviously college-going girls were ID'd in the HOUR we were there. I'm a law student, and that smells like a lost liquor license. I'd be ashamed to charge $11 a drink here. Don't run, flee. (Typed this on notes because I'm THAT mad and their wifi is broken. Figures.) Their shaken drinks are called "Conceptual Concepts", which beyond being stupid is just a reiteration of the same thing. Here's a free tip-- Conceptual Creations. You're welcome, now go back to Portland where y'all belong.

The bartender we had last night was really rude. I had asked for a drink that was not on their menu because I didn't know that they only make drinks using their own spirits. The bartender was very short with me and made me feel stupid for not knowing that they only make the drinks that are listed on the menu. Once I had ordered a different drink it was really good. The ambiance is very cool as well. I just wish that I had a better experience with the bartender we had.

Super cute and cozy lounge with retro vibes. The drinks our trendy and mixed to perfection. Their frozen cocktails are great on a hot summer night. Moscow mule? Yes. Brandy slush? Mmhmm. This place would be great for a first date or to visit one on one.

My friend and I tried this place last night. We both very much enjoyed our drinks and we liked the decor and attention to details. The bartender gave us free shots. Great place to grab a craft cocktail downtown!

The drinks are good, but that is not nearly enough to makeup for the behavior of a certain, incredibly rude, bartender. He was the unfortunate combination of condescending and talkative. While I made it clear I had no interest in speaking with him (the other bartender was serving me, so this guy had no reason to talk to me), he kept up the chatter. After one drink, I decided I had enough of this nonsense, and so I decided to leave. Upon leaving, this bartender followed me part way to the exit and made yet another display of condescending claptrap! I won't be going back to Plain Spoke.

This place is a gem. Fun drinks, great atmosphere and terrific bartenders. Try the Hibiscus drink.
