"This quick-service Greek restaurant predated the fast-casual boom (though there is now a second location in Falls Church) and makes terrific gyros. Order one Plaka-style to get fries inside the sandwich. The menu’s sleeper hits range from hearty avgolemono soup to a classic Greek salad (add the Chicago-style gyro meat with lamb) that seems to always have fresh tomatoes, even in winter. Online ordering through toast." - Missy Frederick

Oh man, great authentic Greek food in Northern Virginia. Great variety of dishes, great customer service and very affordable. Good for the whole family. I strongly suggest. 👍🏻

Google
First time eating inside- but have ordered numerous times throughout DoorDash/UberEats/takeout. Amazing customer service, amazing food, atmosphere! We will be back. Highly recommend this place, it is AS CLOSE as you can get to Greece and the Greek Islands.

Meeting with my Greek contractor, James Kifonidis, at Image Kitchen & Bath, on the other side of Hunter Mill Road from SouvlakiBar, I mentioned how disappointed I am with them, describing my one and only visit. He recommended Plaka in Vienna. Following our meeting, I went there for lunch. In contrast, Plaka is five star! Chicago Gyro immediately caught my eye on the menu, so I ordered it along with Humus, Spanakopita, and a Mythos Beer. Growing up in the seventies and having many dining experiences at the truly legendary landmark Greektown restaurant, The Parthenon, on Halstead Street in Chicago, I can verify that Plaka indeed is serving Chicago-style gyro. Chicago-style gyros are characterized by a balance of savory, garlicky, and herby flavors, with a mix of textures from the thinly shaved, crispy outside of the vertically rotisserie-grilled lamb and beef mix, and a tender inside. Creamy tzatziki sauce—a yogurt-based sauce with cucumber, garlic, lemon juice, and dill—adds a cool, tangy, and creamy contrast to the savory, spiced meat. Fresh vegetables like tomatoes and onions, served wrapped in warm pita bread, complete the dish. The two appetizer triangle-shaped spanakopita were flavor-balanced, featuring all fresh ingredients—spinach, the foundation ingredient, and feta—wrapped in thin flaky layers of phyllo brushed with olive oil. The small, unassuming spot, seating only 24 guests, serves high-quality Greek fare made with care and pride, in my opinion and experience. I arrived at 2:30 PM last Thursday, and lucky for me, there was one seat available.

I came around 3 or so to pick up some late lunch. This is my go to place when I’m having a long day. Well, I get my food as normal and head home. The food is delicious except for the fries. The fries were cooked before and reheated in hot oil. They are horrible. This is the first time I’ve been here after lunch time. Please have the cooks throw the old fries out and not serve them to customers.

Google
I had a $14 build-a-bowl with half rice pilaf and half greens, bifteki (ground beef), melitzanosalata (eggplant sauce), taziki (yogurt sauce) tomatoes, olive and feta. It was delicious, filling, and came out super fast since I was ordering around 8:30PM on a weeknight. The service was friendly and professional. The atmosphere was like a typical fast casual place. It’s a small place and I’ve seen it get very busy, especially on weekend nights. This place is ecological and a step up from most fast casual spots in that they serve their food in real ceramic bowls and have metal silverware. There is self-service of beverages, condiments, napkins etc. The staff did bring the food to my table, which is a nice touch. I bussed my own table. I’ll most definitely be back once again.

Google
This place is a must try when in Vienna. They’re probably the only place that has an authentic greek style pork gyro which is delicious. This time around I tried the Chicago style which is a traditional lamb/beef gyro. Got it “plaka style” with fries inside, fries looked and tasted hand-cut. Easily the best gyro spot in the area and maybe outside of the area too. Highly recommended.

Google
Small place for eating in. Chicago Gyro season well, tender meat, ingredients fresh and came out hot. A lot of meat. The calamari was also hot but bland but cooked well. Definitely would go back and try a different gyro

Google
This is a local favorite nested in a small shopping center off the Chain Bridge. The staff are still very nice and friendly during the busy dinner rush. Good portions of food. Well seasoned and savory.

Yelp
Plaka Grill definitely makes my list of favorite spots in Northern Virginia. I recently ordered the Plaka salad and a mixed grill platter, which were fantastic, as usual. I also like the gyro sandwich (with fries!) and the bowls. The portions are generous, especially for the prices. The food quality is that of a nice-ish sit down restaurant, while the prices are more similar to a pricey fast casual place. Portions are also great for leftovers or family style. I almost always get takeout from both of the Plaka Grill locations. I've been coming to Plaka Grill for 10+ years, and the food and service have never let me down. Don't mess with a successful formula!

Camryn K.

Yelp
This is a great place to grab takeout from! I have ordered from here several times, and it is consistently great. I typically order the Plaka Gyro Wrap, and it is so good! The pork gyro meat is delicious, and the pita that it comes on is very soft. I wish that it came with a little more tzatziki though. While I love the wraps, the bowl was just okay. I ordered the bowl with rice pilaf, Chicago gyro, tzatziki, tyrokafteri, jalapeños, sautéed onions, tomato medley, pickled onion, and pepperoncini. I didn't love the flavor of the tyrokafteri dip, and I feel like the rice to other ingredients ratio is off. I have also gotten the fries in the past, and they are solid. They are seasoned well, and are fried nicely. Even though I don't love the bowls, I would still highly recommend trying this place out if you are looking for good gyros!

Yulee K.

Yelp
Such a small restaurant with big flavors. We got the Plaka gyro with the fries. The wrap was enormous with a lot of beef pieces inside. They even add their fries into the wrap. The vegetables in the wrap were so fresh with the juicy meat. The white sauce (not quite sure what it is) that they put in the wrap is addicting and delicious. The fries were lightly seasoned. I think they would have been more crispy if we ate them right away but we chose to take them back home with us so they were a bit soggy in the end. But still delicious and we finished every piece. I would highly recommend this place if you're looking for a quick lunch or dinner!

Annie C.

Yelp
I've been meaning to try this place for a while because I love Greek food and wanted to find a go-to spot near me, and I think this was did indeed meet its expectations for some affordable fast food-y Greek food. We were sooo full and very much enjoyed the gyro, fries, and calamari. I would definitely recommend and come back again. It was mostly self-serve, and it was very small cute restaurant for chill vibes.

Trish G.

Yelp
The food here is fantastic! Everything is fresh and full of flavor. I highly recommend you Check them o

Ralitsa C.

Yelp
Service is really below par. Ordered a soup, dolmades and a glass of wine--everything took forever to arrive on a night that wasn't too busy, and when it did finally arrive it came in the wrong order--first dolmades, then soup, and finally, after a lot of back and forth--the wine. Unacceptable!

Anna Y.

Yelp
It's definitely not a cheap eat. It's an okay option though for Greek food especially since Maggios down the road is closing. Though if you're going to pay a lot for Greek food then I'd suggest the Greek place is the Mosaic District in Merrifield.

Em B.

Yelp
It has been a while since I've been back. Plenty of tables and parking might get tough since it gets busy around lunch. I got my usual chicken slouvaki dinner with mixed grill and my bf got the chicago gyro combo (drink and fries). Love their fries..always seasoned well and hot right out of the oil. Chicken was slightly dry today but the side greek salad and mixed grill never disappoints. The gyro was packed with meat and veggies..my bf enjoyed it very much for his first time here. Will need to try their bowls next time as it seemed very popular for lunch.

Timothy A.

Yelp
They literally told me to email them to make things right and then didn't respond to the email I sent. Ridiculous. This type of customer treatment is terrible.

Sharon L.

Yelp
Stopped by for a casual dinner tonight. It's order at the counter style and then they give you a number and bring the food to you so it's very casual. It was quite busy, but we were able to get the last seat. The turnover should be quick though since the food comes out fairly quickly. My husband and I both ordered the chicago gyro wrap with a side of fries. The gyro was pretty good--I particularly loved the tzaziki sauce in the wrap. The fries were cooked perfectly. I only wish that they had more seasoning and maybe some more salt on them. Overall, this is a pretty solid greek spot. Not the most amazing I've ever had, but not bad either. Good for a casual weeknight dinner. I would love to return to try the moussaka or the pastisio since I do love other greek dishes besides gyro wraps.

Lauren G.

Yelp
How did I forget to review Plaka?? Plaka is consistently amazing. Fast, delicious and friendly service every single time. I love introducing people to Plaka. The food is always fresh and tasty. Some of my favorite things are the Plaka Gyro Wrap which has Authentic Greek-style pork gyro with tomatoes, onions, tzatziki and fries inside. It's filling but you won't be in a food coma afterwards. I also love getting the plaka bowls where you can choose what you want in them. Kind of like Cava but way better.

Amani A.

Yelp
My favorite quick bite for authentic Greek food! I love that everything is made to order and my baby love the fries and I don't feel so bad giving her anything. The customer service is always friendly and dependable. They aren't receiving 5 stars because the bathrooms need to be cleaned more often.

Jane L.

Yelp
First time back in over five years and it is still as good as I remember it. We got the chicken, beef, and gyro souvlaki and everything was so fresh and tasty. Salad, veggies, and fries were also very good. Definitely recommend for Mediterranean food and also for a healthier option.

Hina M.

Yelp
What happened to the quality? I ordered my favorite Chicago gyro with extra meat and fries combo. Everything tasted a day old and fries were not seasoned. Please revisit, I hope this is temporary situation. This supposed to be my Newyear meal, I was looking forward to it.

Nil K.

Yelp
Great food and the staff is very friendly too. The food was delicious, I will definitely come back again.

Lee M.

Yelp
JUST got takeout. First time. Wanted to like it. Gyros were underwhelming and the chicken bowl was offensive....maybe 2 oz of chicken. I guess shrinkflation? I almost retuned it but didn't have time. Sorry...won't be back.

Sarah N.

Yelp
A HIDDEN GEM! I was telling a friend how it's difficult to find places where you can eat healthy food and he recommended this place. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is totally relaxed and the service is wonderful. I have tried the salads and bowls, both tasted amazing and not a crumb was left on my plate when I finished. Oh the fried zucchini is good too. Their tzatziki sauce is money!!

Kristin B.

Yelp
Good was fresh and hot. The tzatziki was very good with warmed pita. The food was a little heavy. A good quick place to grab a gyro for lunch.

Hailey L.

Yelp
AMAZING!!! I've been going this place third time now, and it is sooo addictive like Chipotle. I always go to this place after workout when I crave something fresh and refreshing. Portions are really good and flavor is pretty good. You will definitely feel full by the end. It is self serving so you take your own food to wherever you want to sit, so yes - no tips required. I really love their booths. It is super cozy and private. Food comes out pretty fast, and place is kept pretty clean considering no server.

Mai N.

Yelp
Today, I sadly received a scoop of straight up mayonnaise in my build-your-bowl, in which I had to carefully remove in order to enjoy. I placed my usual online order. During pickup, there was a wait so I assume the rush caused the mistake(chef scooped mayo instead of the Taramosalata). The rest of my bowl was correct and tasty, generous portion of Chicago gryo as usual. I am a loyal customer of Plaka, and hope this was a one off mistake.

Zeni B.

Yelp
This place was great! This is the type of restaurant that you order at the register and then sit and wait for your food. However, the staff was very nice and the environment felt just like a traditional restaurant. I would definitely come back and dine in. I noticed numerous people getting takeout so this is definitely going to be one of my rainy day takeout meals as well!! The food was very good. My favorite items were the fries and Taziki!

Claudia L.

Yelp
This is a neighborhood favorite for casual Greek food - great quality and friendly service. I love the zucchini fritters & oven roasted potatoes (addictive!) - and the avgolemeno soup is on point.

Vivian Z.

Yelp
Gyro here are awesome! I got the Chicago gyro (beef and lamb as the meat) and it was great. The meat here is cooked perfectly and flavored well. We also got their bowl with the Chicago meat as well and it was good! I like the free toppings that came with the bowls. I was asked if i wanted to make by gyro into a combo with fries and a drink and was surprised making it into a combo was an addition 5.25!!! The gyro itself was already $10 so 15 total for the combo meal. This was a little expensive for me to just add fries and a drink lol. If i would have known before i probably wouldn't have agreed to make it into a combo. I wouldn't recommend it as the fries wasn't my favorite and there wasn't anything special about the fries. There's a small dining room inside if you want to eat there and condiments on the tables for you to pick up. Overall, service was great. The Chicago meat was flavorful. The combo charge the only con.

Yelp
Plaka grill is a very tidy no nonsense local restaurant that does a lot of take out.  We chose to eat there and they bring your food to the table after you order at the counter.  We sat by the colorful mural at the table known as "David Baldacci's remote office."  We enjoyed the hummus and the zucchini fritters.  We had read about the great Greek chicken soup with orzo (avgolemono) which was warm and comforting on a cold afternoon.  One of us ordered our gyro as a pita wrap and the other as a bowl.  The bowl came plaka style which meant it had French fries sprinkled on the top. Everything was hot and tasty and as expected.  The parking is very easy in the lot right out front.  I can understand why a lot of people choose Plaka Grill for a lunch or dinner to go.  It is easy, quick and reliable.

Jim E.

Yelp
Many of the restaurants/eating establishments in the town of Vienna seems to be adopting a "Closed on Monday" policy. This last Monday, we were happy to find that Plaka Grill is still open on Mondays. My wife prefers the gyro special with french fries. I tend to go for the moussaka. On this particular Monday, I was not that hungry; I forgot to say "Kids Portion" and too much food to eat (i.e., the moussaka, potatoes, Greek salad, and bread. As a senior citizen, I am always happy to find restaurants that will allow for orders of "kids portions" or the "lunch portion" during the evening meal times.

Zack G.

Yelp
Hole-in-the-wall, counter-service, neighborhood Greek spot that has a huge following I came here on a Saturday night with my GF and the place was packed! We could barely get a table The menu is pretty comprehensive, and they have a ton of different options We both got chicken gyro and French fries. The food was all very good, but the gyro was a little on the smaller side. It was ham packed with ingredients, but this resulted in it falling apart completely. The tzatziki that was on it was great though

Yvonne L.

Yelp
My favorite place to get a gyro! Whichever option you choose here, you'll love it. I love love love the gyros with fries in them. You might roll out of Plaka but it's well worth it!

Ray C.

Yelp
Ate outside - many tables avsilable. On Wednesday uncrowded. Tasty food. Quick service Usually get to go

Joann M.

Yelp
Nice small spot! Have tasty gyro and other Greek specialties. On this last visit us and created a bowl that had a salad base, bifteka (ground beef lamb patty), two dips... he selected the eggplant and the feta:red pepper, plus tomato medley and pepper medley. He commented no dressing on the salad base so will have to ask about that next time... he just mixed things together and was happy. I opted just for soup which is a nice lentil vegetable served with pita. In past visits we have enjoyed their chicken, gyro and the moussaka. I also like their vegetables they have... both the green verbs and the gigantic beans which are a lima I believe! We visit periodically as they are near Vienna Drug our preferred pharmacy

Danny M.

Yelp
Went to this place & saw the Gyro spick, said yes. Took me back to my college days back to 82 in Omaha, NE Ordered the following fight with spinach & cheese the farmers salad the backed potatoes with herbs & of course the Chicago Gyro rap. No misses here all on point The taste excellent the portions really good loved every part of the place & food Great homemade like food. Nothing fancy the way it should be Like Gyros it's the place to go

Nichakorn C.

Yelp
Average Gyro. Good price the restaurant has minimum seating so you might need to do togo order

Raadhika V.

Yelp
This is our favorite Greek restaurant in the area, we get take out from here frequently and always look forward to it! When I moved to the area from DC, I missed Souvlaki, my go to Greek place which was a stone's throw from my Dupont apartment. But I was delighted to discover Plaka! My go to order is the falafel wrap, and the Tyrokafteri dip, which is unbelievably good - creamy, tangy and salty with the most delicious fresh pita bread on the side. My husband loves the chicken souvlaki wrap and their Tzatziki. Their bowls are generously portioned and the fries and salads are excellent too. Service is always prompt and courteous when we dine in, and staff are super friendly and warm. You can't go wrong with anything on their menu, we love it all and so will you!

Christine H.

Yelp
I've been to Plaka Grill a few times and have always enjoyed everything I've gotten. The food is done well and good portions on the plate. The meat is seasoned well. I like the fast, casual style of ordering. The parking lot can get full at times. It's a good place for lunch or dinner.

Beth M.

Yelp
We are rarely in Virginia, so have eaten at Plaka Grill only two or three times over the past several years. Each time, it's been excellent. Tonight was no exception. There were five in our party tonight, and we all enjoyed our meals. The weekend special appetizer, "Feta Me Meli" was incredible. The taramosalata, avgolemeno soup, and hummus were excellent, as always, as were the moussaka, roasted chicken Chicago Gyro, seasoned French fries, and baklava. Not only is the food terrific, the staff is friendly, and the service is great.

David P.

Yelp
Good Greek take out. There are tables inside but I've only done take. Consistently good.

Lauren P.

Yelp
It's SO good! Fresh Great flavor Will definitely order again. I got the Gyro and Greek Salad

Lorraine H.

Yelp
Nothing fancy - just a great meal. Generous portions, moderate prices and efficient service. We plan to return soon.

Arki A.

Yelp
The whole family loves this place, especially the kids. It's one place we know for sure they will lick their plate clean, literally!

Colin C.

Yelp
Having since returning from Plaka (Athens neighborhood of the Gods) a month ago, I have been in search of the traditional gyro (made with pork) and this place does it Right! Thank you Plaka Grill for sharing the taste of Greece once again. They also have good Greek wines and beers to go along with it. If you only had Loukoumades, my Plaka experience would have been complete. Yamas!

Bo K.

Yelp
We were craving something a little more refreshing after a few days of heavy American food. Meditteranean seemed like the right choice. We easily ordered online for takeout for a simple night in. We really liked the moussaka. For fast food style, the moussaka definitely tasted fine restaurant quality. We also ordered a Chicago style gyro and it was solid, but not mind-blowing. My mom likes Greek salads so we ordered one for her in mind, but we all ended up liking it a lot and stole bites. We added pork souvlaki to the salad and it was tender and yummy even though it appeared dry. I guess this spur of the moment dinner option was full of surprises! I'm kind of sad I don't live in Virginia so I could return more often for a quick Mediterranean fix.

Koreanita X.

Yelp
Great little place for inexpensive takeout falafels. Got the bowl, which had 3 medium sized falafels and many generous toppings. Spanakopita was very good, as well as the baklava. Service was quick and food well packaged without styrofoam. Will definitely be back to try other menu items.

Tim K.

Yelp
The absolute best place to get a gyro in the Tysons/Vienna area. Just go there and order this, tell them that TK sent you and be on your way.

S B.

Yelp
My 2nd time eating there and the quality and taste of the food is top notch! My first time eating there was nice in the restaurant but this time it was takeout. No complaints and being able to customize your meal online was an added benefit - especially when they follow through! Will definitely return.

Lily H.

Yelp
Always a solid choice with Plaka - whether sandwich or bowl/salad, food is always fresh and flavors delicious. Wish the bowls were a bit bigger (more salad leaves), since the bowl is never filled even near to the top, but at least taste is consistently good.

Gilbert G.

Yelp
Just a great takeout option for the family if you like classic gyros. The Vienna location can be rather busy during peak times (Friday or Saturday nights). First, I would recommend that you order in advance to save waiting time. Since the parking lot is near the intersection of Lawyers Road and Route 123, you'll need to some patience to exit the lot if there's a lot of traffic. Second, the seasoned fries are outstanding as my two teenage sons (16 yrs, 14 yrs) can attest. If you order them Chicago plaka style, they'll put the fries directly into your sandwich. My kids enjoy mashing it together in one place, but I find it overwhelming. It's a bit like a Primanti Brothers sandwich (from the Pittsburgh chain) where the fries are placed in your sandwich. I will say that the meat is seasoned well, but a tad on the salty side for me. My sons and wife disagree on the salty part. But this is the only reason for 4 stars. Third, it's worth trying the other items on the menu (e.g., chicken souvlaki). During the COVID-19 pandemic, it looks like Plaka Grill reduced the number of indoor tables available and implemented a streamlined takeout system. When you arrive, just go to the front counter to pay for your order.

Janice B.

Yelp
The food was very good. The portions were large and the service was efficient, friendly, and helpful. I would go back if in the area sometime.

Laura A.

Yelp
Fantastic food with lots of vegetarian options. No-fuss counter service. Great indoor and outdoor seating.

Rose N.

Yelp
The food was excellent. Our top picks were the Plaka salad with shrimp, and the zucchini fritters were exceptionally yummy. The customer service though could use some improvement, hence the four stars.

Elaine G.

Yelp
This place is great... for lunch or a light dinner. There was a plentiful amount on my gyro wrap and the meat tasted very fresh. Plenty of tomato, sauce and lettuce. The seasoned fries in the plaka gyro was delicious, but more on the cold side. Not sure if the fries were hot or fresh before it was thrown in the wrap. Additionally, the water provided for the water cups did not taste clean, nor was there ice available. For this reason, I'm wondering if the soda machine has ever been cleaned since the water tasted a bit stale and had a variety of flavors mixed in it. I'd come back - for lunch take out only. A little bit disappointed in what could have been a great experience. -1 star: lukewarm food, gross water, portions in the small side. Reviews that said the portion sizes were generous may not have realized that the bulk of the food was stuffed onto the top end that you can see and the wrapped portion barely held anything. Either that for the portions have shrunk.
