Where To Hang Out Near 10 Restaurants With Long Waits - New York - The Infatuation

"Since you’re probably not going to feel the healthiest you’ve ever felt after eating at Au Cheval, you could try to balance things out here first. They have a no-commitment membership (which means you can cancel immediately) for $15." - Hannah Albertine

The thing is, I really like this gym. However, for the past few weeks, there’s been a sign saying we’re getting new equipment — but that still hasn’t happened. Instead, when I came in yesterday evening, there were four pieces of equipment still not working and since this is a crowded gym getting a workout was even harder. Do better Planet Fitness!

Alfred Opio (Chairman)

Google
Planet Fitness has everything I need for a great workout! The equipment is top-notch, well-maintained, and perfect for all my fitness goals. After a solid session here, I feel energized and focused—ready to put my best work into building KAINO Capital, America’s first AI-powered financial simulator. A great gym with a great atmosphere! 💪🚀

Walked into the ladies’ locker room today after my workout and was immediately mocked by maintenance workers, possibly because I was carrying my army surplus pack. They were working on the mirror in the main room. I went to my locker first and then to the shower area. Before long, one of the maintenance workers walked into the handicap accessible stall and walked out holding tissue but not before he looked directly at me. He stood there and said sorry, still staring at me. Luckily I knew better and had anticipated this behavior so I was still fully dressed. Nevertheless, employees must go through a background check and training before being allowed to work. I doubt that it is the same for contracted employees. I shouted until he left the shower area and to help keep myself safe. This is a very dangerous scenario. Planet fitness is closed overnight. Either have a pfit worker supervise these strange men in the ladies’ locker room or make non emergency repairs overnight when this location is closed.

Andre Paredes

Google
Been to this location a few times, clean space but not so much for the ladies room + changing area, especially in the night. Dirty when I come in, dirty when I leave. One night I arrived and there was a females pad in the garbage, I go workout, comeback 3 hours later and it’s still there, untouched. I have never seen someone in the bathroom cleaning. Something needs to change. That’s why PF has a bad rep.

Google
Planet Fitness is no nonsense. The machinery is clean and well maintained. The staff are helpful and knowledgeable. The atmosphere is non judgmental and you can always find space to work out, it’s just practical good value.

J Jones

Google
This location gets quite busy! The gym is very open which is nice but you likely will need to wait for a machine. Some of the machines have handles that looked like they were burned or something. I love that they have the MTS machines because not all the locations do.

Taher allam

Google
Planet Fitness is a budget-friendly gym with a welcoming, judgment-free atmosphere. It offers a variety of cardio and strength equipment, but some locations may lack advanced machines or free weights. The 24/7 access and affordable membership plans make it convenient for casual gym-goers. However, the "Lunk Alarm" and certain rules might not appeal to serious weightlifters. Overall, it's a great choice for beginners and those looking for a low-cost fitness option.

Jacob Frank

Google
Basically fraud. I provided my bank account as my payment method as well as a credit card as a backup payment method. It seems their system wasn’t able to debit the fees, so they reverted to the credit card. Fine. What’s not fine are the late fees they charged on top of the standard membership and “service” fees, doubling the price. So I disputed the late fees. Now I’m being harassed by their billing partner, abc fitness solutions or something. When I call them, they tell me to call the club. When I call the club and talk to someone, they say they’ll remove the outstanding balance, but nothing happens. And they harassment continues. I’d like this resolved.

Yelp
I've been coming here once a week for about a month now (My "home" gym is uptown on 125th St.), and I've gotta give these guys an extra star. Here are four reasons why: 1) newer treadmills, ellipticals, and bikes - Set the tension on one recumbent or elliptical, use it, then hop on the one right next to it (or a couple machines over) and with the same settings and you'll feel the same resistance. The same can't be said at 125th. Of course, how late the model of a machine is shouldn't be used as an excuse, imo; I'm under the assumption that the "clunkers" at 125th can get more frequent tune-ups. 2) televisions on each treadmill, elliptical, and bike with more channels than the tvs mounted above the machines at 125th - It's like Pimp My Ride here. I'm watching all sorts of guilty pleasures during my work out ('member Charmed? Canal Street's got you.) 3) bigger, cleaner showers - Seriously, they're more than twice the size of the ones at 125th; and while the 125th has one or two more showers than they have here, I can't always get past the clogged drains at 125th to give thanks for them. And, admittedly, my favorite shower here at Canal St has varying water pressure due to the toilet flushing, but my preference is for clear drains, so the occasional drop in water pressure doesn't bother me. 4) The staff are on their j-o-b, no matter where they are in the gym...and they greet and thank before you do (and respond if you speak first), which isn't always the case at 125th. I haven't seen or heard any arguing among staff here at Canal St either; I unfortunately can't unsee the time there were two 125th St staffers on the second floor arguing in plain view of everyone (Seriously, one of them was pointing their finger at the other...with their arm outstretched. These are two adults, y'all. Grown folk. #Drama4YoMama #HandleThatScandal). Sorry, and it's not THAT big of a deal, but no matter what position I've held - minimum wage or salaried, paid or volunteer - I was mentored to not bring my personal psychology to work, especially if it's negative; the employees here at Canal St, clearly have too, and they show it. The two on duty when I visit this location are the type you want to learn more about to see if you can "steal" them from Planet Fitness. I haven't checked the type of weight machines they have here because I don't use them at any location. But it's a Planet Fitness, so I don't see how they don't have at least one of each machine that 125th has. There's a TRX area too. There are fewer tanning beds and massage chairs here, and there's isn't as much space to stretch before/after your workout, but I don't tan or use the chairs, and I've always managed to find enough space to stretch (There's always space for that next to the machine you use. So I don't HATE my "home" gym at 125th (hey, I gave 'em three stars), but I'm glad I have a good excuse to use this one weekly; otherwise going here for no reason might look like some form of internalized hatred, so... Yelp needs to implement half stars 'cause this place is more like a 4.5. I really enjoy coming here.

Yelp
This place is a scam. They charged me for 2 months after I had cancelled. The manager tried to issue a refund and corporate just didn't respond for months. Because they require using a bank transfer, there is no recourse. Planet Fitness is a racket. Buyer beware.
google avatar

Brooke K.

Yelp
Pros: staff is nice Cons: * Many leg machines are constantly broken * massage chairs break frequently and are in need of repair * people use massage chair area to only sleep preventing others from using the chairs. * almost all TV monitors are not working on cardio machines * complained to corporate and not much has changed Management is doing the most he can, and staff is helpful and attentive, but corporate needs to step in and make necessary adjustments and not ignore requests. Please fix issues to make this a better experience.

Yelp
This gym used to be great but has gotten worse over time. Theres always something that needs to be fixed and it will take months for it to be fixed. - One hand dryer in the bathroom doesn't work at all while the other one feels like it's on the lowest setting, taking forever to dry the hands. - the urinals are alway "out of service" way too often. the plumbing for this location really needs to be checked. - Theres a missing screw for one of the pads for the lying leg curl but no one's bothered to get that fixed - both handles on one of the pec decs have been removed without getting any replacement, forcing us to hold on to the handle that's still sticky from the glue that used to hold the rubber in place. - a lot of other machines have very loose/ripped up handles and haven't been replaced for months. The staff would rather clean the 100 cardio machines than call the maintenance crew to check on every single machine on a regular basis like they should be doing.

Yelp
Great location, great equipment, a lot of space and very clean. The only issue is that I'm not sure if the showers have warm water at the moment...

Yelp
Third time a guy just walks in the women's lockers, this place only has women clean on the weekends. Not his fault I didn't hear him call out from the shower, management problem here.

Yelp
While traveling to New York I stopped at this planet Fitness due to the fact that I have the black membership which allows me to use clubs wherever I go. although it was an average club I would definitely recommend the black card membership to anyone considering a membership at planet Fitness. The in club perks are okay but the ability to travel and use a club while visiting outweighs the extra $10 or $12 per month. This particular club was just okay it felt a little cramped and dark due to the fact that it was in a basement of an older building. It didn't look as clean as some of the other clubs and I go to and this one had a much higher focus on cardio than it did on weights and stationary machines. All in all it was an average planet Fitness. My rating system consists of a 3-star being exactly what you expected and neither good nor bad. A 4 means something was extra special and a 5 means you were blown away. A 2 star rating was disappointing and a 1-star rating is terrible
google avatar

Bonnie P.

Yelp
The location is right on Canal and very easy to get to, this location is in the basement so there are no windows or anything. This location may not be the most updated or clean, but it does the job honestly. Staff is very friendly, they go through and perform the necessary COVID precautions by wiping down the machines and also making sure that there is social distancing at the cardio machines, by blocking off the machines in between. The weight area is harder to social distance, there are markings on the ground but people just take up space where ever they can - so just be careful. Personally, I always try my best to go to this gym at off-peak times so that I don't get into issues with being too close to other members. So early mornings are great or late evenings - the hours of operations of this location make it easy to accommodate so it's good. This gym is not super nice or great, it just does the job but that is what we paid for! Great price monthly to access some gym equipment and cardio machines, no complaints.

Yelp
Planet Fitness is an affordable, no frills gym and I am happy to have them as an option in a city where taking care of yourself can require a lot of investment. I used a friends guest pass to work out with her and I think this is a great gym to get the lay of the land in a gym setting (I'm more familiar with classes, so I was a little apprehensive about regulating my form on my own and getting comfortable with machines). The basement layout is a little dark and off-putting, but it shouldn't really effect your workout. Peak hours, especially after work, get just as crowded as you expect them to. The machines are in good working order and have clear instructions at each station, getting the hang of things didn't take long at all. The place does have a STRONG gym smell. That was off-putting, but I'm not sure what options they have to address it. It's a place where people sweat, but maybe a more robust ventilation system would help. You get used to it once you start contributing to the communal funk :P For me, the high traffic of the location takes away from it's convenient proximity to the subway, so I'd probably choose to go elsewhere first, but certainly wouldn't avoid it.
google avatar

Eric G.

Yelp
With exceptions of a sauna or steam room Planet Fitness is well worth the membership, especially their "Black Card Membership" option and at a membership price unbeatable (Free weights, massage chair, tanning booths, hydro bed massage, and more) compared to many I have experienced.

Andrea Z.

Yelp
If you want a gym that keeps its equipment up to date, provides enough low lb weights (10 lb), has workable TV's on their treadmills (there are only 2), and monitors the teens who attend for free and create havoc, then Planet Fitness on Canal Street is not for you. There's no way to contact general administration about so they're insulated from and not accountable to their paying customers. Not good.

Jeff H.

Yelp
Was expecting more thinking this would be a flagship location. No problem being in a basement but equipment is outdated. Video monitors on aerobic rarely work. Staff were attentive and location was clean for a high traffic place

Yelp
I work around the corner from this gym so it's really convenient that's the first and main reason I decided to check it out. I was once had a membership to PF near my home so I was already familiar with how the gym worked. Went there to check it out and the person at the front desk gave me a run down on the pricing plans and I got a tour, no pressure. You enter on the ground floor but the gym is downstairs. All the equipment is on one floor. The gym is laid out nicely. Multiples of each machine so people aren't hovering over you waiting. They have the 30 minute circuit (this was missing from my previous PF location). The gym is very clean, locker rooms are clean. Staff comes around regularly to clean the area and the machines. Bring your own lock and everything else you may need. There are water fountains. I took a couple of the classes and they went well. The trainer Jeremy is very nice and helpful. My only issue with the classes is whether you call or sign up online the staff never knows there are people signed up for a class. It's always, oh a class? Um, let me find the trainer. This should be way better organized. They should know if anyone has signed up and the trainer should be ready and waiting. Besides that I'm enjoying the gym.

Yelp
This Planet Fitness has enough space to work out alone, with your routine. Machines and equipment are always available. No waiting. Staff are seen wiping down machines and replenishing cleaning solution.

Yelp
I've been a PF member for several years now. My membership plan is the black card which is $20 a month and can be used at other locations. I've cancelled before and rejoined. The latest location I've been frequenting has been this one at Canal. During the summer I came in to cancel (August 12th around 1-2pm), a representative at the front desk said she would do it for me. She punched some numbers into the computer, I stayed and waited, and then she said it was done. Now, of course, comes the bill and there's that PF monthly charge that I knew I wouldn't be getting. I'm irked, my gripe isn't with the facilities because it's fine there. My gripe is with the integrity of that one staff member. Unfortunately, I didn't catch her name but since I've given a date and an approximate time, I'm hoping PF will take the time to check. It's the matter of principles/honesty.
google avatar

Sarah P.

Yelp
Unfortunately I would rate this gym 0 stars if I had the opportunity. There are multiple reasons why this particular location is the worst. 1. I received the most awful service from a gentleman who told me he was the general manager at this location. I won't get into specifics to waste your time, but let's leave it at this- if planet fitness chooses to have him be a representative of their company, you might want to consider an alternative gym because customer service is their least concern. 2. This location is very dim, seems picked over and has absolutely no windows. You feel like you are working out in a basement cellar. I'm not kidding, you might actually feel claustrophobic. 3. This location is not the easiest to get to and doesn't feel the cleanest. The sanitation stations are never stocked and I feel that I constantly am cleaning up after other guests. And while it pains me to write such an exceedingly negative review my advice stands. Go to a different location or just avoid PF entirely.

Andrew L.

Yelp
CAVEAT EMPTOR!!! I have been a member at this gym for well over a year. Their business practices are shady to say the least. They would only freeze my membership during Covid for a few months and then began charging me once the gym opened even though i wasn't ready to go back. I emailed them about it multiple times and they never bother responding back but that's another story (usually you'll be waiting days IF you even get a response). I've been going again (which i fear was a mistake) so I'll comment on some disturbing things I've been seeing. The gym has a mask rule (like every gym) except they don't really enforce it. I've asked whoever was working at the front desk what the deal was. "Everyone has to wear one" or we'll take care of it". Except they didn't. More often than not there is not even one person on the gym floor or in sight and when there is I've pointed out members who put everyone else at risk by taking off their masks on the gym floor. Not my job and I'd rather not be involved at all but then again we're only in the middle of a pandemic with 300k cases and climbing in NYC. Maybe I'm a Karen, right? So should I stay home if i'm afraid of the virus? I don't think so. I follow the rules so maybe those who don't want to should stay home or better yet, maybe the gym should enforce THEIR OWN RULES. I go later at night close to closing and there always seems to be one or two people (often the same repeat offenders nonetheless) who either chinstrap their mask or just pull it all the way down. And while it's true that almost everyone does wear a mask and is good about this there always seems to be one or two that just can't get it right but that's all it takes to infect people. But again, where's staff? I've never seen staff approach them on their own. It's always been pointed out to them first. Would seem to me that it's not really a priority of the staff but that's only my opinion. Just seems that way. Again, why should myself and others be put at risk? How about following your own rules Planet Fitness? I don't know if I've ever seen such a poorly managed gym. During the week between 8 and 10pm there seems to be two employees, no managers, and one person on the floor (that's if you're lucky, usually not in sight). So...you're on your own in this gym. As it stands, i'd be very careful setting foot here because it seems like it's asking too much from this gym to enforce not only their own rules but also the rules put forward by NYC. Also, if someone from Planet Fitness responds to this and asks me to take pictures or proof of members not wearing masks i'm not going to do it. Come to the gym between 8 and 10pm and you'll see for yourself. Why would i make this up?

Yelp
3am workout.. clean and quiet. Not so many people so it's no wait for machines. Will be coming back soon

Yelp
Very bad experience....i came to work out in this location for the first, now LAST, time at around 1:30 PM, my lock got broken in to as i was on the treadmill for 40 minutes. although the staff here was extremely helpful and understanding (thanks again, Alex and Clarissa ), I have some good advice to management: having only TWO people working in one shift (one working upstairs and one downstairs is totally unacceptable, but also UNSAFE. you have to have at least five people work that shift, to help all customers and good customer service deters most suspicious behavior. I've been in the customer service industry a long time. I should know that having a well staffed establishment of employees with good customer service skills is vital and safe. As far as the creep who destroyed my master lock at LOCKER 83 on Saturday June 25, 2016 at approximately 2:00 PM, and YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE, congratulations on destroying my lock, but unsuccessful getting into my belongings because you twisted the metal loop that holds the lock. A word of advice: STAY OFF THE DRUGS, STAY IN SCHOOL, AND GET A JOB!!! I've said enough.

Yelp
I signed up and didn't end up using the gym so tried to cancel. It turns out, they don't allow you to cancel by web, mobile, email, phone, or fax. There is no cancellation link on their site, so I emailed and called them multiple times requesting a cancellation. There's no reason why this shouldn't work, other than if you're trying to ripoff customers. If your services are good, you don't need to send me messages like this: From Planet Fitness: "Per the agreement, in order to cancel a membership, a member must either go to the club in person to fill out a cancellation form, or send a letter (preferably via certified mail) to the club, requesting cancellation. Please note: Memberships cannot be cancelled via fax, phone, or email." Send a letter via certified mail "requesting" cancellation? That's way over the top. My last gym let me cancel by clicking a button online. And to be clear, I was on a monthly membership, so there's no contract commitment, and I'm in India at the moment so can't go in to cancel in person. I called Bank of America to dispute the charges and she said "we get these calls about Planet Fitness all the time." She even said they might try to charge me under a different name after I block them and that it's "borderline illegal". Avoid this company and gym. To date, they are still charging me.

Jodi A.

Yelp
I just rejoined this location. I am happy with everything that I was happy with two years ago at the time of my first review, EXCEPT that the shower pressure is even worse now, which is paramount to my whole gym experience. WHYYYYY, Planet Fitness!? All you want after a sweaty workout is a refreshing shower experience -- not to feel like you're being spit/dribbled on. You wind up having to stay in the shower way longer than you would if the pressure was decent, which means longer shower wait times overall for members, so it's not a productive system. Please, pleeeeease address what should be a fixable issue!
google avatar

Amir A.

Yelp
Jean and Leslie are awesome. Extremely accommodating and kind. I felt so insecure coming into the store a few days back and they made me feel comfortable, safe, and wanted. Thank you guys! Truly turned my day around

Yelp
Short: great gym that doesn't have that many members, dumb bell weights only go up to 60 pounds, bathroom is a little smelly. Long: This planet fitness is the best PF I've found in NYC. I've been to the location at Bensonhurst, Union Square, Chelsea and Wall Street. I have to say that most times I come here during both peak and non-peak hours, it's never really that crowded or that long of a wait for a machine. This PF is nestled beneath the Sheraton in TriBeCa which is a neighborhood full of either tourists or really rich people. This is likely the reason why it's so clean and unoccupied. Tourists don't really work out, they're more interested in shopping in the area or having a meal at an eatery nearby and the rich residents and office workers make enough money to join a more upscale fancy gym. There are two massage chairs, two tanning booths and one hydro massage bed. They're exclusively for premium black card members only. Premium members are allowed to bring in one guest for free during every visit. I pay something like $20 for this per month which is worth it. New members are also given a free branded t shirt. Chocolate and grape Tootsie rolls are offered daily and they're unlimited. Once a month, free pizza and bagels are available. I believe free pizza is the first Monday of every month and bagels are the first Tuesday. I've never had the bagels but the pizza is decent. Since this is a review on the gym and not food, I'll spare the commentary on that. It is unlimited so take advantage if you're hungry!

Yelp
I been a fat as F, before I came here :D Just do it! Anywhere you can ;)They have a bunch of iron stuff ‍and treadmill! Shower too For a monthly price of two beers I'm good :D WiFi is not working, so I can't use my Insta! And I'm happy of that:)

Yelp
Horrific gym that scams it's customers. Went in to cancel and they kept charging me for the next two months. When I went in again they denied that I ever canceled. Total scam and horrific gym. It's laughable seeing planet fitness respond telling me to speak to the manager. The manager was the one who came out and told me I was lying about canceling because his own employee didn't do the process properly. Possibly the worst customer experience I've ever encountered.
google avatar

Shan M.

Yelp
I came into this gym on a trial because I'm frequently in NYC even though I live on the West Coast, and was hoping to find a gym where I can go to in both locations. Upon activating my pass, the gym manager was very nice and showed me around. Amenities were OK - I've been to Equinox and several more upscale gyms in California, but while this gym is definitely no frills, it was still clean, the equipment was in good condition, and membership was at a cheaper price point. I had an expensive pair of white and brown headphones (easy to identify), and discovered several days later that I had left them at the gym. I happened to be at the airport headed back on a flight to California and wouldn't be back for a few weeks, so I decided to give the gym a call to see if anyone turned them in. I explained that if they had them, I would have a friend pick them up, but didn't want to inconvenience anyone unless I knew they were there for sure. I asked the person at the customer service to check for me, and I explained my situation. He then somewhat laughed on the phone and said, "Sure, I'll go ahead and check for you and call you back, but if you don't hear from me they're not here." and hung up on me. For starters this was a joke because he didn't even ask for my name or phone number, didn't have any real intention of calling me back because he just didn't give a shit. I called at a slow time of the day too; I wouldn't have minded waiting.... or at least would have been satisfied if they pretended to care/check rather than just be rude about it. I was actually planning on joining this gym when I got back to NYC, but after that rude customer service experience and then reading other reviews about people getting their locks broken into and robbed, I've decided to go elsewhere.
google avatar

Jessica L.

Yelp
I have been going to the Planet Fitness gym in Herald Square and recently switched to this location. The Herald Square location was disgusting, overnight staff were incredibly rude, and general service was terrible. Instead of canceling my membership all together and going elsewhere, I decided to try the Canal St. location and I am so happy I did. Staff was friendly and greeted me as soon as I walked in. The temperature was cool and comfortable, not muggy like other gyms and bathrooms and the gym overall was clean and maintained. I am so much happier at this location and do not plan on going back to the Herald Square location. Beware of them!

Yelp
Carlos the GM at this location is truly the best. I had an issue and Carlos clearly communicated the way to resolve the problem, as well as being nice and gracious throughout the whole ordeal. My problem was resolved quickly all thanks to his help. I would highly recommend this location for their great customer service.

Yelp
I didn't think about weird looking dudes at 1:30 am dozing off on the massage beds . I didn't think about that ever. There's crunch . Yup, I'm just going to move there .

Yelp
Cool. Spacious. Need to update the cardio machines. Spacious. Large locker room. Need a stretching area
google avatar

Keyda L.

Yelp
So I've been a member here for about 2 years now since I started working in the area. Over the 2 years I've become less and less satisfied. Four of my biggest complaints 1) lockers that are completely broken and unusable because the hook won't allow proper locking 2) tv on cardio machines NEVER work 3) this whole being scanned by an employee when THEY ARE actually paying attention instead of doing it myself and them paying attention to the screen 4) not being able to update charges to my credit card instead of checking. It is really frustrating as this was once my favorite location and has made me downgrade to a white card. What's the point when the facility doesn't take care of you?

Yelp
My locker was broken into by the employees. My sis and I along with one other person were the only ones to file a real police report. They said there were 8 robberies in the last week. All filed at planet fitness. The young Spanish guy that was sweating when we called the cops, who also took his name tag off was the one I saw in the locker room. What made us extra suspicious is the guy winked at us when my sis was upstairs getting crappy customer service from the girls. Super unprofessional. They told us we would probably find the stuff in the locker room and It took them 5 mins to come downstairs, by that time we found our stuff!!! In one of the changing rooms. 170$ gone. Electronics and credit cards there. They probably took pics of my cards! No cameras in the lockers of course and no bag ever left the locker room. No evidence except the wink we got from our boy. Gotta go cancel all of my credit and debit cards. I hope planet fitness sees this and looks into it and reaches out to us. I'll post it on fb too.

James J.

Yelp
Come to the gym at 5 AM Monday through Friday I am greeted by Daryl at the front desk very polite and helpful Also Cory is a great guy and keeps the place very very clean I will tell other people to join due to these very nice people I deal with in the gym

Yelp
Three Smith machines for your pseudo deadlift/squat/bench needs. A tad disappointed the dumbbells stop at 60, but that is what Planet Fitness is about. Got to keep the lunks interested in lunk gyms, not these starter gyms. Clean gym, well organized. A lot of business folks on their lunch hour come here, so expect nice, professional patrons. Best of all, there are a lot of free machines, treadmills, what have you. I got some pretty good lunch work outs here, so I can't really complain. The gym is located on the basement and it uses the space well without feeling crowded. Massage chair room has a TV, usually one is free. There are showers for the sweaty so feel right at home if you can bring in your own flip-flops, towels, and soap. The water pressure is pretty good too. I am a Black Card member so I am excited that this is just one of my gyms. Definitely enjoying my visits here. Kudos to management.

Yelp
No complaints. The time I come is usually not that packed 3-5pm. The free waits and some weight machines can be busy but not ever for a long wait. Bathrooms and locker rooms are clean on the female side.

Yelp
This place is disgusting! Even though it only costs $10/mo it is under par. It's dirty, no toilet paper, not handicapped accessible, no escalator, yuck!!.. The machines are often broken and poorly maintained! I also heard that they don't like to let you out of your contract easily and do treacherous and illegal things to get your money! I prefer gyms that are clean and free from unsanitary conditions such as these that make my experience here awful! Go somewhere else where you won't pick up a sickness from deplorable conditions!!

Yelp
I've been nothing but really happy with this Gym. The staff is so incredibly nice and friendly. I joined in December 2018 and upgraded to the Black card this month so I can use other PFs and some of the other facilities, but I really love the atmosphere at this location. The people I've chatted with who work there are all professional and encouraging. I'm looking forward to bringing my friends to share workout time with me here. The price is amazing (especially for New York) and while the "amenities" are very simple - it's everything I need!

Yelp
This location of the popular fitness chain offers quite a lot of space as well as some modern equipment that put it a notch above others with the same name. The location is convenient, located as it is near to Canal Street stops of trains including the A and Q. You can get here in about 20 minutes from Midtown. The interior is expansive and offers a massive floor space for tons of machines. There are plenty of treadmills and ellipticals to enjoy. Some are outfitted with modern infotainment systems that display your steps, calories, etc. as well as a full menu of satellite TV options. While not necessary these are a step above the old machines found in most Planet Fitness locations.

Yelp
My locker was broken into and about $200 in cash were stolen. When I alerted the staff they were unhelpful and essentially told me the gym doesn't take any responsibility and there's nothing they could do to alleviate the situation. I spoke with the manager and he reiterated the same. I don't recommend anyone working out at this gym. Stay away.

Yelp
I would love to give this place 4 stars, but it seems the management doesnt care about customer feedback. The gym is clean and organized, but thats all I can say. The staff is mostly friendly and professional and I like the massage options. There are no barbells and the dumbells only go up to 60lbs! So you cant do Bench press and Heavy Militaries etc, which is limiting But half the tvs on the cardio machines dont work and I made a complaint in summer 2015 and nothing was done. the showers are cold after 8am almost everyday. So it is a great value dollar wise, but there is no pool, sauna, hot tub, classes and Barbells. Will switch to another gym sometime where there are more options to train real seriously with free weights

Yelp
The worst customer service! I would highly recommend that they train employees better.

Yelp
No one's going to mistake this place for Equinox, but it's clean, everything works well, and the people at the front desk are pleasant. It's a good deal.

Yelp
This place is great, so I'm not sure about some of these negative reviews. The staff have always been very friendly with me, the place is clean and spacious with very high ceilings, nicely air-conditioned and ventilated, and very rarely crowded (although after-work hours are busy, like literally every gym in NYC). I do agree that there could be better space planning in the weights area. It's not a lack of space, but just the layout that makes it feel a bit cramped in some areas, while being wide open in other areas. For instance, the benches for weights are so close together but then there are acres of empty floor space throughout the room. Planet Fitness is not a gym for heavy weight lifting. If you want a lot of free weights, or dumbbells over 60 pounds, that means you need another gym. It does not mean this gym sucks. There are lots of options out there for serious weight lifting. Gym Etiquette 101: if someone is hogging a machine, just politely ask to "work in." This is standard gym practice. You don't need to have the staff patrolling around and kicking people off machines or benches. If the screen doesn't work on your cardio machine, it is likely just because it is unplugged. Check the power supply at the floor and push it back in tight. Note to staff: maybe just check this when you clean the machines? Seems like a lot of negative reviews about this issue, which could be fixed very easily. FYI: I once had my lock broken and my wallet stollen from a very well-known, posh, expensive gym. This is not a problem unique to Planet Fitness. There are small lockers with a security camera pointed at them, just next to the water fountains. Put your wallet and other valuables there and you will be fine. I have a membership at another gym, but for twenty bucks, I keep coming back to PF for a quick cardio workout, and a massage afterwards. Works for me!

Yelp
I love this gym!! It is the best planet fitness, not too crowded and the staffs are allllll so nice!! This is my local gym, I come here monday to Thursday! Free pizza on Monday. It is very spacious, cheap membership and you can bring a friend for free if you have the black membership card. it is just pure awesome!!!!! even if you don't hit the gym you don't feel as hurt as paying $80 a month at nysc etc.

Yelp
I'm a black card member and this is my favorite planet fitness location in the city. They have TV attached to each cardiovascular machine with almost all the cable channels...it's one of the few pf locations with that convenience. Plenty of machines...locker room is okay So far my locker has never been robbed. ..so I'm happy with this place.

Yelp
I like this location out of the entire city because it is located by the train, Soho, and China town. It has way more equipment to use. I think the set up is pretty functional and easy to move around since everything is all on one floor. I think that there needs to be more people cleaning the bathrooms and gym in general cause I rarely see people who work there doing that.

Yelp
Located in TriBeCa, this Planet Fitness in particular is often filled with people from the hours of about 4PM to about 8-9PM. There is usually less people on the weekends, before 2PM on weekdays and during the late night hours. These would be the ideal hours to get your work out in if you don't want to deal with the large crowds. Generally, this Planet Fitness is well kept and clean. The staff here are nice and courteous. Locker rooms and clean and big. There's also an abundance of equipment to use. Kinda wish they had a bench press with free weights though. Other than that, everything else is pretty much on point. Planet Fitness also offers free pizza on every first Monday of every month and free bagels on every second Tuesday of the month.

Yelp
You pretty much pay for what you get for this gym here. They have a decent amount of machines that are spread out in one large room. I enjoy working out here ONLY in the morning or late evening times. You would not want to come here around 6-8 because it gets hella packed for no reason. It's gets a little annoying when people are waiting forever for the squat bars and they don't like putting back their weights :). Besides that, it's not a bad gym for paying $10 a month.

Yelp
Shady business. Sent two letters to cancel said they never got them & kept charging me. Finally got my third letter after calling multiple times & cancelled it but still charged me for 3 extra months
