Visiting Planet Word in Washington, D.C., was an absolute delight for our family and friends. From the moment we stepped in, the museum felt immersive and engaging, offering a unique experience that celebrates the beauty and power of language.
At the recommendation of the staff, we started our journey from the top floor and worked our way down—a great tip! Right away, we were mesmerized by an incredible 3D-like interactive projector that transported us through the origins of words, highlighting how languages have influenced each other, especially the connection between French and English. It was both educational and fascinating.
One of the standout exhibits was a massive globe, surrounded by interactive figures speaking various languages. Each allowed us to learn new words from different cultures, making language feel truly alive. Another fun highlight was the photo booth, where for just $5, we got two printed pictures along with a randomly generated word and its definition, definitely a unique keepsake!
The karaoke room was another unexpected but super fun surprise. We could choose from a selection of songs and belt out our favorites—an engaging way to experience the power of lyrics and language through music.
One thing that also blew my mind was the 3d interactive painting area , one could paint time and space to time travel. Its hard to explain but essentially with a special brush, one stroke can open a portal through time and history. It was fantastic
Beyond the interactive exhibits, the museum was clean, well-maintained, and thoughtfully designed, including the bathrooms, which were spotless. One of the final exhibits we explored was about journalism and propaganda, offering a thought-provoking look at media, information, and the way words shape our world.
To top it all off, parking was free, making the visit even more convenient. Whether you’re a language lover or just looking for an engaging and educational outing in D.C., Planet Word is a must-visit!
