The 29 Best Restaurants in Columbus, Ohio | Eater

"Plank’s Cafe and Pizzeria is a down-to-earth watering hole, which has been serving locals (and curious visitors) since 1939. Throughout the years, the restaurant has built an integral place for itself in the community. Venture in during the wee hours of the morning and you’ll find yourself surrounded by local health care workers getting off their shifts, but visit mid-afternoon and you’ll find a more lively crowd of regulars and cheering sports fans. The pizzas arrive on slightly sweetened crusts, covered in generous layers of sweet tomato sauce." - Angela Lee

Google
The place looks great, but that's about it. When coming in the waitress was an old lady and she didn't even say hi, she just asked how many, and then she told me exactly where I should sit, even if the restaurant was empty. The place is overpriced, almost 18 for a 10" pizza with almost no toppings, just in the middle, and over 3 usd for a canned stary. The men restroom was disgusting, you could see the mold in the urinals. Overall i think its overpriced, overrated and a huge disappointment since I went there thinking it was a good place because of the above 4 stars google review. Definitely not coming here ever again.

Google
Wow has this place fallen. From what used to be a decent pizza 20 years ago, now is unrecognizable. Sparse toppings, old dough resulting in dense hardly edible crust. The sauce is like tomato jam it is so sweet, yet so little on the pizza. It had been a while since last visit and now will be a never again visit. If it was dying, then they just killed it.

Phil the waiter is so very sweet! I'll go back just for him. And I didn't have to wait long at all to be served, less than 2 minutes. The atmosphere was lively, friendly and the walls are covered with Ohio and OSU memorabilia which I love. It seems like a great neighborhood cafe and meeting spot. But unfortunately... half the edges of my pizza were burnt black ⚫ 🥲 and I waited 35 minutes for it which was kind of long. (Yes I still ate the pizza. I was hungry and I don't like to waste food. ) And I'm sorry for $25 is a lot for a large pizza. I was expecting it to be higher quality for $25. The cake was hard and dry. Not stale but like that's how they make it. I'll go back if a friend invites me. But I may not order the pizza again.

Google
Cons: The table was dirty, German potato salad seemed old, the apple sauce was from a jar, and soft drinks came in a can. Pros: The honey pizza crust wasn't bad, and the fish was fried perfectly.

Google
Service upon pick up was not the greatest, didn’t feel as welcoming as it should have and kind of seemed maybe slightly irritated. As far as the pizza it was horrible. From the crust to the toppings tasted sweet and dry as there was little sauce on both pizzas. Maybe it was a bad day as I see others have an enjoyable experience but for me this place is a no.

Google
Honestly, the vibes and service here were great! We had a great experience with our waitress, she was so helpful and the place is so cute! The problem was the pizza all tasted like it was rolled in sugar or honey or something unbearably sweet. Like i love sweets, but this was nauseatingly sweet. My party figured out it was the pizza dough and ended up just eating the toppings off the pizza, which were pretty all things considered. But 20 bucks for an inedible pizza wasnt great.

Google
Great place to eat, great place to enjoy sports games Ohio State atmosphere the hosts were really friendly joking around and had a great time.

Google
*** the vibe and service is awesome. Pizza review: your classic midwest thin crust tavern, very thin, which I love. The undercarriage was cooked very well with expected semolina. I like it well done which was very good - nice and crispy with a good chew. The cheese quality is good (looks like grande). My only complaint is the sweetness of the sauce - it tipped the flavor completely out of balance. I’m not crazy about sweet pizza sauce as it is, but this was borderline egregious. So much potential - would love if they had a different sauce option. Worth a trip here for the ambience alone though.

Yelp
I've rediscovered Planks after about a 10 year hiatus as a friend moved back to town and it's her favorite pizza. Time stands still in Planks--it's the same good ole OSU bar that it was a decade ago! The clientele is older as is the staff. It's very charming and the service can be spotty depending on how busy it is and what night of the week you go on but the food is worth it. They have a lot of blackboard daily specials as well as a soup of the day offering. The pizza is thin crust and party cut Columbus-style. It's a good experience and there's a huge lot so there's always plenty of parking. Definitely give it a try!

Yelp
If you're looking for old school, this is it. The menu is expansive and blast from the past. You'll find standard sandwiches and homemade soups in addition to pizzas and fried foods. Think things your mom might've made for you anywhere between 1950 and 1980. Their crust is a sweet crust and it's thin cut Columbus style. Yes it does darken around the edges because of the sugar content. It's pretty tasty if you're in the mood for it.

Yelp
I'm originally from Central Ohio and was back visiting for a class reunion. The night before I was flying back to Florida, one of my friends suggested we grab dinner. There is a big private parking lot, so we didn't have to drive around looking for parking. She said Planks had the best pizza. Of course whenever anyone tells me a place has "the best," I am skeptical. Well, Planks DOES have the best pizza ! We got a large pepperoni. The thin crust was wonderful and slightly sweet thanks to the corn meal. The sauce was also slightly sweet with no acidity. Service was attentive without being pesty. My ice tea was refilled as soon as the glass reached half full. We sat in a booth and were able to watch USA basketball in the Olympics on one of the many flat screens. It was not crowded and was not loud. I will definitely be returning here when I am back in Central Ohio.

Yelp
July 18 2024 Worst pizza experience, food experience in years. Went in starving left ordering elsewhere. Ordered Appetizers sweet potato fries soggy limp cold gooey dipping brown sugar cinnamon butter (sauce in description) however it was rubbery due to being cold, Garlic cheese bread barely cooked NO Garlic at all! and the sauce with for dipping taste like water! Said ow well hopefully pizza will be good NO NO NO I am a pizza connoisseur; this was not pizza I literally could not chew it was so rubbery, full of sugar, the crust was as if you baked then allowed to sit out for several days then put toppings and rebaked. This is nothing like when I was young Sorry planks i will never be back.

Yelp
Ok these guys have the sweetest crust for a pizza! They put sugar in their pizza which sets them apart and makes them unique. I didn't think I would like it so much, but it's not that bad!! There are two locations; this one on Parsons and the other on S. high St. I've only ever been to the one on S High St. we dined in and had a great time. The service and food were good. The interior is what you'd expect for a pizza place but it's in German Village so it has more of a neighborhood vibe to it. Haven't been inside to the one on parsons. But my fiancé went in last night to get a to-go order and by the sounds of it, it didn't sound like a great experience. He waited more than 30min for his pizza because the bartender gave his pizza to someone else. The three servers working there, he said, were annoyed at the bartender for his lack of attention. When I first moved in down here in GV I was told to only go to the planks on High St. I see why now. We don't go often enough nor do we get pizza often, but I will say this the pizza is good!

Yelp
We ordered a large "all the way" pizza, wings, and a Italian sub. The pizza was a middle of the road pie, sweet sauce and crust that was nice for a change and a combination of toppings. The toppings were of low quality and you could taste it. Some tasted as if they were frozen diced peppers and onions thawed and slapped on the pizza into the oven, pepperoni are few and far between, you won't be impressed by planks pizza but you won't be entirely disappointed either. The sub, the sub had a nice sesame bread but the top bun was soggy and the lettuce was wilted badly and barely enough. It had pizza sauce on it which I wasn't expecting and overall is a hard pass for me. The wings The wings were just store bought frozen wing dings heated up. If you like a processed commercial breaded wing packed with enough sodium to kill a horse and don't mind paying 12 bucks for seven Walmart freezer section wings then by all means go ahead

Yelp
Planks on Parsons looks so warm and inviting on the inside. So clean from floors to bar area. Great lighting and service. The juke box plays continually and is Fun all around Just a few minor differences, No Popcorn anymore. Peanuts In the shell are provided but I miss the popcorn. Thanks COVID. They sell a lot of Pizza. Toppings are good, hot and cheesey but I avoid the sweet crust. I had a Brat, Sauerkraut and German Potato Salad. I will sticks Schmidt's for that from now on.

Yelp
I'm not sure how I've never been to Planks, but I had not. I stopped in with a friend after another event in the area. On a Thursday night ~8 PM, it was pretty quiet and we got a seat at the bar. The bartender took our orders, handed us a menu, and asked if we wanted anything particular on the TV. Since it was a quiet evening, the bar staff were moving around and restocking their area and chatting with us and it was super laid back. I tried one of the small pizzas and it was pretty darn good. Plenty of cheese and veggies, cut Columbus style, and actually enough sauce (I love extra sauce on pizza). The sauce is on the sweet side. I haven't had a sweeter pizza sauce in a while, so loaded it up with crushed red peppers and gobbled it down. The only slightly odd bit is that I did not see an itemized receipt. My total seemed a bit high for the pizza and one drink, but it was good and I'll swing through again if I'm in the area. Cool fact - they deliver anywhere within 270, with a sliding delivery fee (between like $3 and $7 location dependent) and the delivery fee goes to the drivers!

Yelp
Stick to the pizza. Salad is a waste of money no cheese. No cheese ina. Pizza shop. And just disappointing.

Yelp
My friend used to live nearby and had told me that she loves their pizza. I was hanging at Two Dollar Radio so I thought why not stop by for a personal-sized pizza. I called in the order for a small pepperoni and they told me it would be 15 minutes. They have a parking lot at the back so I sat in my car a bit and waited. After the 15 minutes were up, I walked in and the hostess told me to go to the bar and let them know I was there for a carry out order. When I got to my car, I had to check out the goods. Thin crust and cupped pepperoni. Oh I was excited to get home and try it!! As other reviews say, the crust is unique. It's got a sweetness that is absolute perfection. And there's a good layer of cheese! Sometimes thin crust isn't generous with cheese. I ate about half of the pizza and was pretty full. Not bad for around $13 ish. It seems like an underrated pizza place. They could use more attention. Their pizza is amazing!! Can't wait to return and try something else off the menu.

Yelp
Customer beware! My father had his credit card info stolen by an employee here. We made a phone order for pick up and the employee took the credit card info over the phone. This was the only time that my father used that credit card on the trip (they live out of state), and in the past month. A few days later there were fraudulent charges in the Columbus, OH area in that card. We waited a while before positing this review to give ownership and management time to respond, because we would hate to tarnish the reputation of a business based on the behavior of one employee. Phone calls and emails were sent to the business owner/management, but he never got a response. The food was decent though.

Yelp
Stop closing at 940 when it says 10pm online. A 10-15 makes sense but a whole 20 minutes is inconvenient.

Yelp
This is the crack of pizzas. Man, it's so good. A buddy from out of town told me about their pizza. I've been in and around Columbus for years and had never tried it until a few years ago. Anytime I'm in Columbus, I will make sure to visit Planks.

Yelp
While I typically enjoy the food (more like the pizza) at Plank's, I was not too keen on the food that I ordered for lunch earlier this week. I ordered the tossed salad with ranch and the jalapeño bread filled pretzel. Sadly, I did not like either. I also did not like that my salad (my entree) came out before everyone else's meals and that my pretzel (the appetizer) came out when everyone else's entrees came out. I did not enjoy the salad as I did not like the ranch dressing. I'm going to assume that the ranch is homemade (which I appreciate), but it had a strange flavor. The jalapeño bread filled pretzel was hot and fresh; however, the cream cheese filling was very minimal and I did not think that the honey mustard dipping sauce paired well with the filling. I think that the pretzel would pair better with some type of cheese sauce (maybe beer cheese?). Aside from the food, the servers are great! I also enjoy the sports memorabilia that fills the walls and tables. I get a diner feel inside with all of the white lights and music that is played throughout the restaurant. (I LOVE diners)! When it's nice out, I enjoy sitting out on the patio and having some drinks with friends. I definitely recommend checking out Plank's for an enjoyable time and some great pizza!

Yelp
Pretty disappointed in this place. The food is decent. It's not going to WOW you. Waitress was nice. I didn't like how they nickel and dime you. The waitress failed to tell us that every can of soda that we got was extra. That honestly bothered me. It's just shady. 99.9% of every restaurant in the country will give you free refills. But in the event that they don't, they usually have the common courtesy to tell you that every can they are bringing g is 3 dollars. I had 2, my friend had 3. We came here for lunch while we were at work. 15 dollars in soda for two people. Like, do you guys really need to be that shady? Are you hurting for money that bad? Would doubling your profit on soda not be enough to where you need to mark that up 500%? Also, I don't expect a discount, and don't even accept it. As a first responder, half the businesses (never planks) we go to TRY to pay for our food, which we don't let them, but it's a nice gesture. But to be shady to us is pretty disappointing. Probably the last time I eat here.

Yelp
I have been going to Planks on Parsons for more than 40 years. We have used the party room upstairs for wedding receptions, birthday parties, and so much more. However I can not go there anymore because the prices and attitudes have gotten out of control. I understand that they have to try and keep up with supplier costs etc, but $20 for a pizza is ridiculous. It makes me sad but the quality has gone down as the price has gone up. The last few years it's been hit or miss if the pizza was undercooked or over cooked but my love for the place always won out. However I can't justify the money on stuff that may or may not be good anymore. The service has been hit or miss as well. When I said something about the prices getting a little high, I actually had one of the girls say "there are other places you can go." I was shocked that she would be so blatant and rude about it as I was not even rude or mean. It was more of an off handed, out loud thought. I think that was the last straw for me. The old Planks would have NEVER been so rude! I like supporting small business but I am not going to have a place make me feel like I am the problem. And I am tired of going to businesses and having to deal with rude people. I can't say I will never go back but it will be a long time before I try it again.

Yelp
Played cards and drank beer here on a Friday night with a group of friends. We had a large pizza, mozz sticks, and a sampler with the jalapeño poppers, mushrooms, and mini tacos. Everything was absolutely delicious and we had wonderful service! A wonderful and nostalgic dive bar feel inside. Highly recommend this Columbus staple!

Gary J.

Yelp
WARNING. My credit card data was used fraudulently the next day after I called in a phone order. My bank canceled the cc immediately when I responded to their query about the charges ( a local Donatos Pizza,, a prison phone company, etc.) I wrote a polite long letter to the owner hoping to help him to deal with the issue/problem. I never received a response. Why not, Mr. Plank?

Yelp
I LOVE this planks! The inside is huge and the servers are all so nice. Their pizza is also delicious. I like the sweet crust and the thinness of the pizza. I will continue to come back

Yelp
This Columbus institution has been around since 1939. Now there's a definite older vibe here that goes from the décor to the clientele to the servers that wait on them. They tend to cater to an older Gen X / Baby Boomer crowd. I'm not throwing shade here, it's just my observation. When people in Columbus think about Planks, they usually think pizza. You're either going to love it or hate it, there's no in-between. The problem I have with their pizza is that their pizza crust has a sickening sweetness to it that just does not go with the savory flavors of the pie. Don't get me wrong, pizza is my pig out food but here I ate about 6 squares and called it a day. So why a decent rating? Other than that, their menu has a number of stick to your ribs comfort food dinners that are really pretty decent. Their sandwiches are as good as anyone else's in town and that salad selection is pretty impressive for a bar / pizzeria. The only knock on their menu is that their prices tend to be a little expensive for what you get. One can Pepsi? $2.50. Ouch. I'd truthfully rate them at 3.5 stars.

Yelp
An old reliable, great pizza, BLT was just average, sweet potato fries not bad. Beer was not as cold as it should be. Service was adequate. Would I go again, of course I would it's Planks!!
google avatar

Sean A.

Yelp
Amazing pizza and a great value on Monday night. Pizza is what they are known for, I'm not sure of other items. Service is quick and easy for takeout and eating in.

Yelp
Planks is fun, personable, and wow the pizza was great. Mary is not usually a server but she was hilarious!!! Definitely coming back. It has that homely feel to it!!!

Yelp
While enjoying local brews at Parsons North Brewing Co., which does not serve food but encourages patrons to order from local eateries, my wife and I decided to order a delivery from Plank's and were both very pleased. We ordered the All the Way, which is pictured. The thin crust almost had a sweet flavor that worked well with the Italian cured meats. An excellent five star thin crust pizza!
google avatar

Peggy F.

Yelp
$5.50 for a bottle of michelob Ultra. I don't care how good the food is. That is highway robbery.
google avatar

Nick G.

Yelp
A great south side tradition, Planks on Parsons has been around for ever. In my younger days I'd begin and end a Buckeye tailgate at Planks and take the Planks Bus to the stadium, but enough about the memories. We were back in town recently with 2 hungry kids, and Planks delivered! The dining room was pack, but they squeezed us in and our waitress did a great job. The pizza is one of Columbus' best, with the slightly sweet dough and the cup pepperoni that you can only find in Central Ohio. Can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Brian S.

Yelp
Pizza WAS our favorite there, but unfortunately we will NEVER be going back to Planks on Parsons again! Ordered 2 large pizzas, both were burnt to a crisp! Called and talked to the "manager" Scott, who said "we're busy, it's half price Monday, we can't really do anything about it". Had to call back and tell him we were bringing at least one of the pizzas back, and we expect them to replace it. When my daughter arrived to show them the pizza, he said the bottom wasn't black, so what's the problem? She told him we couldn't even bite thru the crust! He said, "if you try to bring a pizza back again, we won't refund it, just telling you.", like she was trying to scam a half priced pizza! We told everyone in Columbus about how good their food was, now we will make sure EVERYONE knows how this "manager" treats people!

Spencer P.

Yelp
Something has changed although Scott (also known as Scott the Jerk) assures us it has not. The pizza was greasy to the point of being slimy. The crust is absolutely not the same. We were treated very poorly by Scott when we brought our displeasure to his attention. He did however agree our pizza did not look good. I cannot even convey how bad it was. They have lost a longtime customer thanks to Scott's nastiness.

Yelp
Decided to stop in for some pizza. Hadn't been in years. Planks is older business, building has been there since 1939. Our waitress was Katelynn, she was the very best. Super bubly personality. We ordered the pretzel bites with cheese dip. They were super hot and tasty. We also had a large pepperoni and mushroom pizza. The crust has a sweetness to it. Pepperoni was nice and spicy. Plenty of cheese and mushrooms. Great experience and won't wait so long to come back next time. Bonus they have free fresh popcorn.

Yelp
Sad day. Drop in rankings. Not what it used to be.... I've been eating Planks since I was a kid and has since always held the top pizza spot in my eyes until yesterday. What used to be "pizza from the gods" is now a round, floppy, lack of topping, minimal sauce thing but higher prices. You've dropped in personal rating from 1st to 7th. Tied with Dominos. Would have taken the 8th spot if it wasn't for sentimental reasons. I haven't lost faith yet. I'll be back later in the year to see if it's any better.
google avatar

Joe C.

Yelp
This is my second time eating here and it did not disappoint this time. I ordered a large pepperoni pizza. The crust is very thin so one person could eat a large by themselves. My favorite thing about the pizza is the sweet crust. I know not everyone may like it though. Overall, I would definitely recommend trying it out since it is so unique compared to any other pizza crust in the Columbus area....
google avatar

S G.

Yelp
A true neighborhood gem!! I love, love, love this place. The pizza, the vintage vibe, the decor, the music! We moved to the area recently and are quickly becoming regulars!

Kerrie G.

Yelp
Everyone's meal came out but a pizza (for a 10 yr old and a adult) Everyone was finished eating still no pizza and no info. Went up to the bar to speak with the manager. As I told Scott the situation his response was to tell me that what I was telling him was irrelevant and there was nothing he could do for me and he walked away. Server finally came and said the order was lost and offered a pizza to take and bake ourselves. Something that wasn't an option for my family from out of town. It was obvious looking around the dinning room the servers needed help and the kitchen definitely did I guess that was irrelevant to Scott the manager also.
google avatar

Payal P.

Yelp
My boss ordered pizza for lunch today for the entire team! I was very excited to be trying a local pizza place rather than Donato's (which I am not a fan of). We had 3 pizza's delivered to us. There were no problems in delivery. I only had the cheese/veggie pizza. I preferred the veggie pizza over the cheese because the toppings really balanced some of the sweetness of the crust/sauce. I don't know why people say it is overly sweet because it is not -- I don't recommend for those who prefer some spices on their pizza instead. A personal con was the way their slice it but I will definitely be ordering from here again!!
google avatar

Yelp
My bf, son, and I purchased a couple of pizzas and they were delicious! We'll be back!!!

Ronnie D.

Yelp
I moved to Columbus about a year ago and this is my go to place. their pizza is the best and their staff is incredibly friendly! my husband loves their bratwurst with everything on it. I get delivery quite a bit and it's always fast, fresh, and their drivers are so kind. I cannot recommend this place enough! I have never had a bad experience with Planks.

Yelp
Don't do it. Just go somewhere else if you are reading this review. Please.... I have been to Plank's a few times within the past couple years and honestly whenever I leave all I can think about is how much of a waste of calories and money it is. It's not even expensive... it's just that the food is gross. I honestly think every fast food place I've ever gone (including bottom ranked ones like White Castle and Arby's) are better than the food here. The food here is just flavorless and not good. I don't know how else to put it. I remember a couple years ago I got a burger and fries (like really you cannot mess that up) and the fries had no seasoning and I swear the burger was just a beef patty with no seasoning. As I'm sure you can imagine I was beyond disappointed when my sister told me we were going here for my niece's birthday dinner last month. I reviewed the menu and nothing sounded good (only because I knew it wouldn't taste good). I figured I'd get chicken wings with BBQ sauce since I had been craving wings the past few weeks. Sure enough the wings came out breaded (which was probably my fault. I thought they'd come out like Bdubs wings, but should not have assumed). Then when I asked for the BBQ sauce, our server brought out a cup of BBQ sauce that was COLD!!! WHAT?!? Ok warm BBQ sauce is preferred, room temp sauce is okay, but COLD BBQ sauce? That alone shows you that they are worthy of 1 star. My meal was flavorless and not enjoyable as usual. Also, they tout that they have a "sweet" pizza sauce or something but my sister ordered a pizza for all three of her kids to share and they refused to eat it because it "tasted weird." I took a bite to see for myself and agreed with them. Lastly, our server was just okay. No energy, enthusiasm...but then again, if I worked there, I wouldn't have much of that either. I can honestly say this is probably my least favorite place to eat in Columbus. You won't be seeing me back anytime soon...or ever. Might be a good place for those of you who want to get a drink and watch a game but stay away from the food!

Yelp
First time trying planks pizza....picked up large pepperoni, took home 2.8 miles away.....looked really good, then I tried a piece.....crust was doughy the rest was good but that crust like raw pie dough ruined it. So I called them to see if it was under cooked. The guy on phone responded...no that how our crust it. I said ok. Needless to say I won't be going back. 2/11/2022 7:30pm..

Shelby M.

Yelp
We ordered delivery and it took over an hour for us to get our food (the restaurant is 7 minutes away), which then meant our meal was lukewarm. The sauce is mildly sweet, which could be tolerable, but the crust is beyond sweet and makes it not enjoyable to eat. The cheesy garlic bread wasn't bad, but I definitley would not buy from this place again. In addition to the meal not being what we expected, the customer service when ordering the food was sub par. They were rude when we asked for the total and they never gave an estimated delivery time.

Yelp
Man I just love Plank's so much! In the classic debate that all Columbus folks have, I do prefer this Plank's but enjoy both. We used to get this growing up as my mom would bring it home from work for pizza night. Even after the trip home as the pizza got lukewarm, it would still be fantastic and was one of our family faves. A friend of mine lives near Plank's so in getting together with him, we decided to visit, even though it's been probably 7 years or so since I have had it. The pizza hit the spot. We split a pepperoni pizza and HOUSED that bad boy. Just as I remembered it and gave me all the feels. The pizza was absolutely perfect. Pretty quiet in there when we were in. They do have happy hour but I am not sure if it's the same daily or if it changes. I know we got a couple bucks off our pizza and after we ordered beers, the bartender told us there is a happy hour price on pitchers of a couple bucks off a pitcher. So my friend and I said well we aren't picky enough to need two separate types of beer, so after finishing our first beer, we split a pitcher at happy hour price. That would have been good to know before pouring our beers but I get it, she thought since we were drinking different beers it didn't make sense to bring it up. All good. Not like we aren't accustomed to downing a couple beers. All in all, it was a great visit. Great pizza. Cold beer. Chill atmosphere. Not much more I could ask for. I will not let 7 years lapse before I am back for more pizza from Plank's. That was a mistake on my part lol

Yelp
This is hands down my favorite pizza place in Columbus, PERIOD. Their pizza has the best taste to me. I could eat here every day! The pizza always comes out very hour (Careful not to burn your mouth lol). But the crust come with a sweet taste (If you don't think you would like that then maybe it is not for you) but about 95% of the people I bring here love it. So it is a pizza you HAVE to try! *Also I've not riced that the pizza is always better when you sit in to eat rather than delivery or pickup*. I have countless friends that always want to come with me when I come here. I've tried the subs and apps and everything is good. But the Pizza is what to get here. The restaurant has a bar and has free pop corn and peanuts on the other side of the bar that most people don't know about. The place is dim and has a lot of college pendants and posters on the wall. You get a feeling of a older establishment that loves its sports. In the college football season the pizza is half off on Mondays as well. Don't be surprised to see the owner himself walking around and chatting it up with the customers. This place is great! And a must visit if you have not ever been.

Yelp
Was in town for work with someone who grew up in Columbus who insisted we eat here. It was a great call. The interior is an incredible homage to college football, the Big Ten, and Ohio State. Our server for lunch on a Friday was great. We had a couple of pizzas (square cut) and both were delicious. Beer selection was good, not great, but I'm not looking for much at lunch. Overall this place was so worth checking out. Great food and service and local flavor to 11. Recommend.

Yelp
Tried Planks on recommendation of friend who had never steered me wrong Until now Should have walked out before ordering when I saw the menu had a billion items. Anytime you see a menu with lots of items it's a good bet they suck But this place has been around a long time and they could have worked the bugs out The exception to this rule is Chinese places where so many of the dishes are basically the same thing. Got the brat with kraut onions and green peppers. Bun came grilled which was good brat nothing special but the kraut peppers and onions were plainly the scrapped leavings from a empty container and did not cover even half the brat The onions and peppers would not have been a good tablespoon price was 9.50 about twice what it was worth In their defense it was later in the afternoon and an order around lunch probably would have been better Also they had a sign out advertising for an experienced grill cook Doubt I will be back

Yelp
Plank's has always been great for us! They have a signature sweet pizza that is amazing. Very friendly staff. We even met a couple of the owners and have become regulars. They have been keeping us going throughout quarantine. Family run business that has been a part of German Village/Schumacher for decades. Definitely should be on your bucket list if you're a local. My only complaint is that they're not open on Sundays normally. However, throughout quarantine they have been

Yelp
We have been here a few times but not recently. It is different from the Plank's on High. The pizza here is too sweet for our taste. We recently stopped in for lunch after an appointment just for a sandwich before we went to the grocery. I ordered a cheeseburger because I had not had one for over a year. To our surprise the waitress said the kitchen was being renovated and they had no working grill. They could make a sub so my husband opted for that. I got mashed with gravy that they were able to make which was okay. We will stop in another time. It's a great place to meet friends for a drink.

Yelp
How can I not like a place that plays Ohio States "Across the Field" followed by Notre Dames "Victory March." It's like they knew I was there and how to get straight to my heart. The service was a bit slow on my visit, it may have tainted this review just a bit. Had to wait about 15 minutes for a server to check in and couldn't find anyone for silverware after a salad was dropped off. I easily forgive though and understand given how busy they were. The food was on point. Jalapeño stuffed pretzel to warm the stomach. Tossed salad to satisfy your vegetable needs for the day. Pepperoni, Bologna, Banana pepper pizza to soothe the soul. Highly recommend bologna. Sauce is sweeter than most, very good though. Top 5 CBUs pizza. Good place to watch a game and down a pitcher of beer!
