I consider myself a food snob. It’s a difficult thing to be, and I’m accustomed to being disappointed. But Plantain Bar blew me away. I went in with low expectations, despite their 4.9 star rating, simply because it’s a food truck, how great could it be? Let me tell you, pretty friggin great.
I got the Fatty Lechon in the plantain cups, and I could definitely see this on a real plate in an elevated dining restaurant. Such a fantastic combination of flavors. The deep savory flavor of the melt-in-your-mouth lechon is balanced by the semi-sweet plantain cups and complemented with a bit of freshness from the avocado and microgreens on top.. If you’re wondering what to order, the answer is this. I also got the yucca fries with the special sauce. Yucca fries were perfect, not hard, not stringy, perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, the perfect vehicle for that fantastic sauce.
The couple that runs it is incredibly sweet and the atmosphere is very lively. 10/10 would recommend you check out this gem.
