Plas Dinas Country House

Festive afternoon tea was superb, great variety of sandwiches, salmon, savouries, sausage rolls and sweets. All the food was presented beautifully with an obvious handmade with care feel. The tea menu was extensive and all was served with champagne (extra) along with a lovely mulled wine. We dined as a couple, the tea room was full but not rushed. Staff were attentive and professional. Our afternoon tea was covered with a gift voucher which was valid for 24months, we had 6months left, this was great given that we had forgotten about it! This afternoon tea is class and comes well recommended for a special occasion.

We had attended a friend's wedding at Plas Dinas in the summer and were eager to return. Being frequent visitors to North Wales, we booked for my husband's birthday and were not disappointed. We had a fantastic couple of days, and were so fortunate to be 'upgraded' to the Sir Robert room (having originally booked Butlers). All rooms, I have no doubt, are stunning, and are a real testament to what the owners are trying to achieve here. Each lovingly restored and decorated to embrace the history of the house and create a sense of 'old world glamour'! Being a bit of a history nerd, I enjoyed reading about the Princess Margaret connection in the books and memorabilia in the drawing room before dinner. We dined in the Gunroom restaurant on both nights and were delighted by every delicious course of the taster menu. Stunning food, extensive wine list, and delicious cocktails. Little touches in the room were also so welcome after our days out in the mountains - fresh biscuits, fudge and proper cold milk for my brew! Breakfast was also delicious, with a great choice of options. Service throughout our stay was discreet yet attentive and personal. On the day we were checking out, one of the staff gave us a little 'sneak peak' of the room next door whilst it was being changed over. It was so clear that this member of staff took great pride and pleasure in their work at Plas Dinas, and that care was evident from everyone in all we experienced. In all, we felt thoroughly treated and truly special throughout our stay and will definitely return! Thank you Daniel and Annie, and your wonderful team.

I and my wife attended plas Dinas Monday evening. Driving up the well lit,long barrow driveway,opening out to the quaint buildings at the end added to the feel of old well kept buildings and gardens. The entrance to the building was well lit and beautiful. An old reception/drawing room area..piano music playing with warm lighting and an inviting warm atmosphere. Homely and relaxing. Dylan greeted us warmly and seated us in the drawing room..grand paintings and beautifully arranged flowers..the welcome was friendly and the pre meal bites were exquisite and well presented. Each dish served was both amazing in presentation and taste..to top it off..the head chef came out to make sure we enjoyed each meal..how could we not..it was exceptional. Ligre (I hope I spelled correctly) was an amazing service member throughout the meal and highly professional. I can't praise this experience enough and highly recommend to everyone in the area or not. Outstanding service,food and atmosphere

We dined at Plas Dinas in the Gun Room last Monday evening for a family birthday celebration, our third visit. The experience starts with the impressive tree-lined drive leading to the house with convenient parking a few steps from the front door. We had our cocktails and canapes in the exquisite Drawing Room, a good choice of alcoholic and non-alcoholic, beautifully served in fine glassware. We were also able to order our meal from the “hybrid” taster menu which I think works very well, giving some choices for the main courses while sticking with the taster menu theme.||On to the Gun Room for the main event all perfectly cooked and presented at the right pace to allow proper enjoyment of the many courses. We had a bowl of triple cooked chips with the main course but larger appetites might feel the need for more. ||We finished with the not-to-be missed cheese plate and then back to the Drawing room sofas for coffee and petit fours.||I’m struggling to find anything negative to say – so I won’t! ||In summary a great experience for a special occasion – we’ll be back.

As always Plas Dinas is so welcoming. In atrocious weather the warmth and coziness of Plas Dinas was lovely . Staff are so welcoming . We stayed in the Robert Armstrong Jones room , which is beautifully decorated and the copper bath oh my goodness was wonderful . Dinner was very good , not rushed , new flavours to try . We had goose first time ever and it didn’t disappoint. We pre ordered breakfast and everything is freshly prepared , so a good start to the day . Our fourth visit and nog our last .

Simply Superb, don't hesitate just book it!!! We were on a 5 day driving holiday around North Wales and the Peak District and chose to stay at this wonderful hotel for one night whilst exploring nearby... We didnt realise that the hotel is mainly geared towards a 9 course Michelin rated dinner experience and an overnight stay so had just booked the room and not the dinner. However the hotel is beautiful, recently renovated to a very high standard and run by a family who also reside in the property, therefore it is not a hotel in the traditional sense... We upgraded to a room with a rolltop bath tub and the room and bathroom were huge. It's a historic estate and this history is celebrated throughout with the suites named after prominent family members (complete with a portrait of said family member) of the family who originally owned the estate. The service is first class and it feels like you're staying at wealthy family members house rather than a hotel. The breakfast was probably the best that I have ever had, simply delightful with so many options and cooked fresh to order.

This split this place scores perfectly in every department. All the staff were attentive and provided perfect service.. I couldn't fall the food and I'm fussy. A proper dining experience.. The grounds are beautiful, and although the weather didn't permit me a proper good explore that would've even more value. Even without that, I thought it was great value

It seems wrong to call this an hotel as it is so much more. It manages to have the grace and elegance of a country house with the cosiness and warmth of a family home. The images will show you luxurious rooms and the menus will have your mouth watering but it still manages to surprise you when you actually get there. |The owners have managed to tastefully decorate and furnish this house to create a luxurious country residence without ‘over egging’ but their real genius is revealed when you meet the staff. Always discreet but always just ‘there’ when you need them. |We stayed in Caroline with the magnificent bathroom and free standing bath. The bed was very comfortable and plenty of tea, coffee, toiletries etc. are provided. |When it comes to the food however, words fail me. This hotel could have the most basic rooms and facilities and people would still flock to it for the magnificent dining. I will be honest and confess many other ‘fine dining’ experiences have left me underwhelmed and often hungry. Not at Plas Dinas! The food just kept on coming and the quality, presentation and service made it an absolute indulgence.|The staff are professional and friendly. Rupert manages to be everywhere at once and nothing is too much trouble. He is a credit to the hotel. Victoria who looked after us in the restaurant is also a huge asset and all of the diners seemed impressed by her friendly, efficient service.|Anyone who has read any of my other reviews will know I do not hesitate to point out failings and ‘vent my spleen’ when necessary but I can honestly say that I have not a single criticism to make.|Plas Dinas could survive just based on its association with the Armstrong Jones family. It could thrive because of its position in the beautiful north Wales countryside. It would be popular because of the fabulous décor or the outstanding dining experience. The fact it boasts all of these things makes it a ‘must visit’ and if you try it once, I have no doubt you will want to return. We will be back for sure.

Plas Dinas is one of those discoveries of a lifetime that just ticks all the right boxes. The standard and the quality of the product that Andy and Julian deliver seemingly effortlessly is what others with years more experience in the industry only dream of. From the feel of this old house and the welcome when you arrive, to your first drink in the magnificent drawing room by a blazing log fire,to the evening meal after a long drive,to your room and your first night's blissful sleep through to your first breakfast..all are top drawer
