The 13 Hottest New Restaurants in Barcelona

"The chefs at Plata Bistro strive to keep the dishes simple. Very simple. Each traditional stew has only three ingredients, but through clever techniques and seasonal ingredients, the minimalist dishes have mass appeal. The menu, which changes continually, is projected on the dining room wall with slides showcasing the day’s options, made with ingredients sourced from the local farmers market. Think chanterelles with a fried egg, chicken with Swiss chard and foie gras, or fresh strawberries with mascarpone and balsamic." - Isabel Conde

Great food, the place is really quiet and cozy, with a nice design. The service is really good. The chef (he even speaks English and Italian) was very helpful and nice. Fair prices.

We and a great experience at Plato Bistro. Just 5 minutes of plaza espanya in Barcalona it had a local vibe and amazing team that took good care of a couple of English speakers from the start. We had 5 little courses from their daily menu and every one was a unique twist on traditional tapas. Wow!

Outstanding food, friendly staff. Server was knowledgeable and spoke good English. Her recommendations were all very tasty. The chef was friendly and brought us several of our dishes, as well as accommodating my wife's gluten allergy. Interior is cleanly designed and attractive, overall very welcoming place with fabulous food.

Incredible fresh and contemporary tapas and wonderful service. This is a must if you want authentic food and great value. The desserts are light and fresh. Recommend the salmon and the calamari which was the best I have ever tasted. We will be back!

An incredible experience. Mario made sure that we got a well-balanced menu based on four types of tomatoes, ricotta baked into zucchinis, fresh tuna, and an amazing pork dish with mashed potatoes. Among all the amazing food we’ve eaten in Barcelona, this felt truly unique and inspired. We felt like a king and queen for the night. We will definitely return to this place.

The best food I have had in my life (and that's a really high bar to reach)! Perfectly cooked, flavors blended well, waiter paired wines with courses. I highly recommend this place. We will be returning if we make it back to Barcelona.

Disappointed After all positive remarks, we decide to book this place for a diner. We were 13, they said ok. Negative points : When we arrived, they said that finally we would be placed on 2 different tables. We decided to order. We had to order all we wanted at once, re-ordering food was not possible. They adviced us to order minimum 3 plates / person - which is too much. Finally, we asked for bread which was a small plate with 3 or 4 small pieces of it - invoiced 2 euro each plate ! We saw it when they gave us the bill. Positive point : All plates were really tasty and really good. We were finally disappointed of this experience, we did not have a good moment there even if the plate were good

This place has only been open a month but wow, what a great little place. Staff are friendly, wine is excellent and the food is worthy of London or New York. Go for the calamares en su tinta or tartar de bonito. But as the menu changes from day to day, follow what they advise... Deserves a good boost in patronage!
