I stayed at Plataran Komodo with my friend Diane and her daughter Isabelle, and had a truly lovely and memorable experience.||The resort has a beautiful rustic, communal yet private vibe that feels both authentic and cozy. The pace of life here is wonderfully relaxed, and the surroundings feel thoughtfully integrated with nature. While the villas are relatively close together, the layout is well designed and never felt cramped or intrusive.||One of our favourite parts of the resort was the private beach and corals. We loved walking out to the jetty to snorkel directly from the resort and explore the coral garden, where we spotted a good variety of marine life and fish. It was such an easy and rewarding way to enjoy the sea without needing to travel far. oh yes, the sunsets are lovely! ||What really elevated our stay, however, was the warmth, professionalism, and genuine care shown by the staff throughout our visit. Our butler, Daniel, was exceptional. He's attentive, kind, and always proactive. No request ever felt like a hassle, whether it was helping to arrange itineraries, preparing packed lunches, or ensuring pool towels were ready for us. His service made our stay incredibly smooth and comfortable.||Special thanks as well to the team at Xanadu, who served us breakfast each morning with big smiles and great energy. We are fairly picky eaters and needed some customisations to our dishes, and every request was handled seamlessly and graciously. If you’re a coffee lover, be sure to ask the staff for their local coffee! it’s well worth trying :) ||Housekeeping kept our villa spotless, and the front desk team were consistently friendly and welcoming, making both check-in and check-out a breeze. ||A special shout-out to Samuel, their intern from Bandung, who was wonderfully warm and helpful. He assisted us with sea sports equipment, deck chairs, and even set up a small painting corner for Isabelle. She was absolutely thrilled to paint on a canvas and now has a beautiful souvenir artwork to remember the trip by. We’d also like to mention Margeretha, an intern from Sumba, whose bright smile and friendly morning chats always started our days on a lovely note.||We enjoyed our dinners at Atlantis on the Rock, and especially loved the lobster served during the resort’s New Year’s Eve party. The event was fun, relaxed, and well organised, with party games that allowed guests to mingle. Such an enjoyable way to ring in the new year.||We stayed in the Grand Pool Villa, the beachfront villa located towards the end of the resort near the spa. It felt very private and secluded, with a generous amount of space that easily accommodated an extra bed. The spa itself was excellent! We loved the serene setting, and the massage I had was deeply relaxing. Do ensure you book in advance, ideally 2 or 3 days prior. ||Overall, we absolutely loved our stay and would happily return. That said, a few minor nitpicks that could make an already great resort even better:||As the resort is closely integrated with nature, insects such as millipedes do appear occasionally. They are harmless and didn’t bother us, but guests who are anxious about insects should be aware. Mosquitoes are present too, though manageable with repellent.||The bathroom was spacious, but we would have appreciated a few additional amenities such as mouthwash and facial tissues. The shower headset holder was slightly loose and could use some maintenance. The outdoor bathroom was lovely, though the shower head could protrude outward a little more for comfort.||The sun lounger cushions would benefit from being better secured or tied to the chairs, as they tend to slip when lying down.||The beach itself is pleasant and well maintained, though not as clear as those on offshore islands, which was not a disappointment at all. Kudos to the staff and security team for keeping it clean and private.||Some of the sea sports equipment could use maintenance; during our stay, the glass-bottom kayaks and one stand-up paddleboard needed repair.||The gym felt limited for those who enjoy weight training; a wider variety of weights would be appreciated.||The pool area was great for Isabelle to play in and for us to relax. We just wished poolside service was a little more seamless, as we usually had to walk to Xanadu for food, drinks, and towels. Its not a big issue, but added convenience would be nice.||These are all minor points, and they did not detract from what was a truly wonderful and relaxing holiday. A big thank you to the entire team at Plataran Komodo for making us feel so at home. We left with beautiful memories and would love to return again in the future.
