"Plateau is sexy. There’s exposed brick, enough natural wine to make you sincerely use the word ‘funky’ in public, and a portrait of a pug in Tudor attire above the black tiled bar. (If pugs doing their best Henry Caville impression is your thing, you’re welcome.) The cool, confident servers are entirely judgment free and offer expert wine suggestions. When it comes to what you should order, Plateau does the bit-of-this, bit-of-that small plate thing in a truly impressive way, and in a plot twist everyone saw coming, light, salt-fest whipped cod’s roe and tender tartare goes exceptionally well with candlelight. Thanks to the low lighting and abundance of rock oysters in the room, there’s a general sensation that someone is just about to start getting it on in the corner. Come here for date night and—praise be—it could be you. " - Heidi Lauth Beasley

We absolutely loved Plateau! The food was fantastic and we were really impressed by the natural wine selection, the staff were really professional and very kindly guided us through it. Great atmosphere was great and fantastic venue, can’t wait to go back!

A brilliant spot for when you want to make an event of dinner. The service was spot on, our server let us try different wines to help us decide and they also gave a really sensible suggestion on how much to order - I sometimes find small plates venues can insist on you ordering too much (as that costs more) and this was not the case here. The food was excellent - the bread and vinegar and oil and the hispi cabbage were real stand outs.

Amazing dining experience. Relaxed atmosphere, exceptional service and incredible food. We loved that all was locally sourced, some grown by farmers right outside of town. Unique produce grown using biodynamic farming methods. Sourced organic wines and sustainable proteins. Everything was fresh and flavorful, with unique taste combinations. Absolutely Delicious! Attentive and well informed server. Patient with our 6 year old. Exceptional dining experience.

Great menu, food was delicious however little to no vegan options / dietary restrictions options! Food was of great quality and portions were good but it was giving central London prices.

Been coming to Plateau for years, and this is my first time since the pandemic, and am incredibly happy and amazed that their food, wines and service are still absolutely fantastic! Super nice lunch with fresh scratch-made sharing dishes, fabulous natural wines and I can’t wait to go back for more!

Plateau has quickly jumped to the top of my list of favourite ever restaurants. We stumbled on the place quite unexpectedly on Friday afternoon after while trying to find somewhere to satisfy our hunger. The menu looked perfect for what we wanted; small plates that they served a couple at a time, each even more impressive than the last. In particular, the pumpkin and the beetroot dishes were just incredible. We drank Sun Rays orange wine with our meal, one of the best orange wines I’ve had, and then moved to the bar and onto martinis. The team were just the best, lovely to talk to and fun to watch them at work. When another friend joined us, the manager kindly rearranged bookings to ensure we could linger a bit longer. We were there for hours, it was so special. I loved this place. I could move back to Brighton just for Plateau. Truly, you’re all wonderful.

The food is five stars but the service left much to be desired given the price of the plates. Probably 3 stars at best for service. After waiting a while for service, our server was rather unwelcoming and seemed disinterested as did the person behind the bar. Thankfully our meal was ordered with a third member of staff who was a little better. They were helpful when I asked about options and the name of some of the salad leaves They did not inform me the card payment was not working quickly enough and we had to leave to get cash. Waited an age for the bill. Food wise, the cider vinegar dip, fish and sides were superb. Management need to get a grip on the service as I am likely to visit another restaurant on next meal day and there are plenty of decent ones nearby.

Lovely atmosphere and great wines, really enjoyed the mushroom + polenta dish and a glass of Lovamor
