***update went back this past Saturday. It's still good. Super happy about this place opening up. Came in on the second day they were open (open once a week on Saturdays). Wait was only 30 min also worth it. I got the special of the day (beef ribs) and pork ribs and hot links. All of the food was well seasoned, not too salty, nice peppery and smoke flavor. Meat was tender and fall off the bone. Go check it out.

I’ve been dying to try this place! I drove all the way from Englewood and got here at 11:30am. They just sold out 😆 owner Aaron was nice enough to cut up a sandwich for me which was AMAZING. The sides were great- I tried the beans with smoked turkey and jalapeño corn. This place is super in demand so make sure you arrive no later than 10:30am to get in line for the 11am opening. The staff was friendly. You can tell they really care about what they do. I’m excited to try their soul foods selections on Sundays. So glad I stopped in. Keep up the great BBQ!

Great Texas BBQ! Smoked beef was juicy and had a great cracked black pepper crust. Pulled pork was tender and juicy -- I barely had to chew -- and went really well with their hot BBQ sauce. Jalapeño cheddar corn is creamy and the subtle heat really helped it not be too heavy. Peach cobbler was warm and fresh, great crumble and didn't need the sweetened condensed milk at all. Note that it's a small shop, counter service and no seating. Menu is small but they have weekly specials, and they're only open until they sell out. Come support your local business, it'll be worth your time!

My man Aaron knows how to throw down some BBQ. Smoked beef is 10/10, brisket is a 10/10, ribs are 20/10. Always consistent and always delicious. Keep it up my man! Top BBQ in town for sure!

ALWAYS on point! Best brisket and beef ribs🍖 (when he has them) in the city 👍🏾..great pickela and o ions too! Everything has NO SAUCE, all sides in SEPERATE containers. The line is LONG, but the wait is SO SO SO SO worth it! Apparently 🤔the beef sausage and the smoked beef is delicious - he runs out before I can get to order 🤣

I love this place. I visit every Saturday when possible. Staff is always friendly and food is always excellent. Tier list is as follows: Ribs > Brisket > Smoked Beef > Everything else. I've never had a bad side, but am partial to the house beans, and greens (Always tons of turkey in both of these) - I'm a happy repeat customer who will certainly be back!

The best BBQ in Denver and Aurora! Be there when it opens at 11 and prepare to be overwhelmed with the ribs! These ribs are so good that I rarely put BBQ sauce on them as the smoky flavor and caramelized texture is so good!!! The brisket is done just perfectly and I love the sides too. I hesitate to leave this review lest the secret of this place get out too far. However, Aaron is such a great guy that his business deserves all the success that his fabulous food and good community minded business relations has earned!!!

Hands down some of the best bbq I've ever had!! We literally ordered some of everything on their menu Brisket, smoked beef, pulled pork, and ribs. We forgot to grab some of the sausages but that's okay because we will be back next weekend! The owner is absolutely amazing and engages with every customer that walks through the door. His wife is also one of the sweetest people I've met. We arrived at 11 and the line was pretty extensive. I would highly recommend going before 11 and be one of the first people in the line so you don't miss out on any of the food. They do sell out pretty quick.

I don't know what's going with the reviews for this place, because there are TWELVE hidden 5-star reviews, and the only one that's shown is a 3-star review by someone who doesn't have ANY other reviews. I feel so bad for this business and what's going on here. That said, I now HAVE to post a review on behalf of me AND my friends -- and all of us are foodies who eat all over town. The mutual opinion is that this is some of the best BBQ you'll find within driving distance of Denver, especially when it comes to the juiciness of the brisket. If you look at this business' instagram page, there are lots of people who have posted fantastic photos and reviews (and I only point to this, because I personally know and trust many of those people). One of my friends is from Texas and a huge BBQ fan, and this is her favorite BBQ in town. Another friend is from Louisiana and she also loves this place. (I'm from California, so maybe my BBQ street cred is less impressive, but I think between all of us, we can guarantee this place is legit.)

We were driving by around 10:30 and saw a long line so we were curious as to what these people were doing. They knew this place didn't open until 11am and closed once food ran out. We tried coming back around 12:10pm to try this place out and they had sold out. The owner was kind and came outside to explain how his BBQ works with limited hours only on Saturday. Otherwise he caters and is booked out for months. Having learned our lesson, we came back a few weeks later and stood in line starting at 10:45 and able to get our food by 11:30. It was well worth the wait and an incredible amount of meat so plan to share!

Absolutely loved this BBQ! I have missed good bbq since moving to Denver from the south and this place transported me right back home! The sauce was fabulous and traditional Texas bbq style. The kind you dip your meat in and it soaks it right up. If someone doesn't like the consistency it's because they obviously don't know good sauce even if it slapped them in the face! The pulled beef was by far my favorite! Highly recommend! The sides were perfect as well. I even pulled some pulled pork and bbq sauce in my Mac! Just a pro tip there for ya! Make sure you get there early. The line is long for a reason!

I dont get the hype on this place. I tried them the week they opened they were super disorganized ok i get it for opening week, a few weeks later i drove by nobody was there and got a few ribs 1 beef and 4 pork and both were very dry. After a few months I thought i would try them again, i really wanted to like them and ordered a bunch of different things - Pulled Pork, brisket, sausage with beans and potato salad. The only things i liked were sausage and pulled pork. I live very close and will drive across town for better bbq.

Bought 2 plates of food and a banana pudding desert the total was $41..... 1meat plate with ribs came with 1 side. The 2 meat plate with ribs & pulled pork also only came with 1 side and no toasted bread, cornbread or even a roll. I don't understand why the combo plates only come with 1 side & no bread even though they are all over $12.. the taste of the meat was a 5/10. For the sides we got pinto beans with smoked turkey leg meat those were a 10/10. The pudding was almost $7 and had mostly whipped cream. Personally I don't like to see real bananas in my banana pudding so I give that a 6/10. Overall I was not happy with the food & price. The place is called plates by the pound but the food was skimpy and not that tasteful the only thing I finished was the side of pinto beans. Also the bbq sauce was watery. The owner and staff were very nice though.

Take this review from a girl who loves BBQ so much that she ate ribs for lunch on her wedding day, full poncho over her dress! Let's be real-- Good BBQ spots in Denver are hard to come by. I've found one spot on Tennyson and one in Superior that I've enjoyed, but other than those, they've all been busts for me. I happened across PBTP on Yelp and was intrigued. It's not every day that you come across all-but-one 5-star reviews on a spot that's only open to the public one day a week. We got the ribs, smoked beef, loaded potato, and a side of the brussels. I wasn't the one who picked up the food, so I can't say anything about the storefront , owner, or wait in line. However, I CAN attest to how amazing the food is. The ribs were generously meaty, perfectly seasoned, and fell off the bone easily. Not dry, not grisly, amazing bite after bite. The smoked beef was also tender, well-seasoned, and paired perfectly with some sauce. The spicy bbq sauce is SPICY, but I'm also a wimp when it comes to spice levels. The brussel sprouts were not my personal favorite--they tasted a bit over-seasoned (pepper), which took away from the honey they were basted with. But, this is a BBQ spot, not a brussel sprout shop. Y'all. The standout was the loaded baked potato. Get it and you won't regret it (unless you save it for last, because you'll maybe be too stuffed). It's GIANT. There's two different cheeses on the potato and loads of meat. I'm not sure what more you could want!!

The food is so amazing and the owner is such a great guy. I have been buying from Aaron since he was selling from his house on the weekends. We drop by to get huge plates of food for the week. Very delicious. Give this place a try it is amazing especially the loaded baked potato.

Set an alarm for 11 am on Saturdays, do not wait till 1pm, this is some of the best BBQ i have had. The Dino bones kill it. The sides are all so good. The hot BBQ has a lot of heat, it will set your mouth of fire. Do not miss out, this place is so good. I hope he starts cooking more days a week.

When you walk into PBTP you are greeted with friendly smiles from the owner and staff. The smoked ribs I had were excellent! Also, the establishment was clean and welcoming. I highly suggest you give this place a try because you won't be disappointed!

So happy to have this place in Aurora. We ordered bbq for the Super Bowl and we were not disappointed. Everyone who came over enjoyed it and we didn't have to cook! Win! Lots of food for the price too. Aaron and the family were very nice too. We will be back

If you haven't tried Aaron's food, you need to! This is the most amazing smoked BBQ I have ever had in my life! Not to mention he's good people too. I have NEVER like BBQ. Until Aaron somehow graced his talent onto my fb friends list. I've hated baked beans since I was a kid. His baked beans with his brisket In the sauce, so and the kick that his homemade sauce has. The meat on his brisket melts in your mouth, his Mac-N-cheese is super creamy and flavorful, and then what does he do? Adds a Big red soda to top it off. Swear I will never order BBQ from anywhere else. Can't wait to order more food in the future!

Finally stopped here and was not disappointed! YUM! Friendly service and DELICIOUS food! So glad I live just 2 blocks away .

Best ribs I've ever eaten! Juicy, fall off the bone tender, right amount of seasoning and the homemade sauce takes them over the top! Pulled pork is moist, delicious and great even warmed up the next day. The jalapeño cheddar corn is a new side favorite. Shared a bbq loaded potato (best brisket around) with my teenage daughter and we were both stuffed! Been a fan and will always be a fan of Plates by the Pound! The owners and staff are fantastic people and truly care about the quality of food and service. Do yourself a favor and go get you some!!!!!

First of all, let me just say that I have lived in Denver for awhile now (originally from Texas), and there are many great local spots here for BBQ, but this one is now at the top of my list! The owner, Aaron, is one of the kindest people you will meet, and his Texas-style BBQ is so. freakin. good! Loved the pulled pork and ribs, and also the green chile sausage is a must try if he's offering it that day - and I hear he has a mean brisket too (which I have been meaning to come back for) and smoked/stuffed turkey legs (yes, you read that right). Either way, no matter the offering, y'all need to check this place out--no frills, just really tasty BBQ. And agree with one of the other reviews - get here early, it does sell out.

Best BBQ I've had in Colorado. The ribs are fantastic! I liked the sauce and the Mac and cheese is the best side.

plates by the pound is the best bbq in denver and colorado. owner is one of the genuinely nicest people ive ever come across. hes passionate about hsi food and very humble. my moms been going to him before his store front and he remembers her by name.

So glad to have seen a Westword article about this place and especially glad to have gone on opening day of the brick and mortar shop. I had every intention of getting a few ribs and some brisket and ended up buying one of everything. All of the food was terrific-we especially liked the ribs and cheddar jalapeño corn. The palisade peach cobbler was delicious! It was so worth waiting in line outside to get to sample some of Pitmaster Aaron's BBQ. You can tell he is talented and takes a lot of pride in his food. We will definitely plan to be back soon on another Saturday when he serves up amazing BBQ!

Some of the best BBQ around. Spicy sauce is great, and the meat is always tender and delicious. My picky children won't eat anything but they both dug into the Mac and cheese and the pulled pork and wanted seconds! The staff is super friendly also. Highly recommend

Went with a few friends to check the new place out since it had opened recently. Everything is made with a real love for people and the craft of BBQ. Aarons specials are always unique interesting and delicious. You cannot go wrong ordering anything off this menu. It's all great

I was fortunate enough to be blessed by a few friends who brought me a BBQ loaded baked potato from this place to my work (I work at the same time they're open so I can't go myself). This is some of the best BBQ I've had in CO. The brisket is nice and smokey and the sausage has a great spice!! I can't wait to try more!! If I could do more than 5 stars I would. Do yourself a favor and go!
