"Platzl Hotel is a modern hotel located in Munich's old town, offering accommodations for travelers wishing to be in the heart of the city." - The MICHELIN Guide

"Platzl Hotel sits on a narrow, cobblestone street in the city’s center. Platzl feels like a ’70s fairytale—its arched entryway, dripping with ivy, gives way to a lobby clad with dark wood and dotted with ample low seating. The rooms are also warm and comfortable, with built-in closets and cabinetry. Highlights also include the culinary offerings—Michelin Guide Pfistermuhle and the more casual Wirtshaus Ayinger am Platzl deliver elevated and classic takes on Bavarian dining, respectively, and the breakfast buffet is killer. Don’t forget to take out a bike from the hotel’s bank—this is a prime base from which to explore the city."

"Platzl Hotel would be the traditional choice. Warm wood interiors extend from the lobby paneling to the rooms’ built-in closets—it’s sleek and home-y at the same time, very comfortable but in a dynamite location."

"Why book? For the best location at the best value in Munich.Set the scene A block of prime Munich along the cobblestoned Sparkassenstraße functions, almost, as a campus for Platzl Hotel and its sister businesses—restaurants Pfistermühle and Ayinger Am Platzl and bars Platzl Karree and Josefa. But nothing about it feels developed or artificial. Rather, there’s a feeling that this space has been carved out over centuries. Here, fine businesspeople milling about before heading to whichever conference has brought them to town while their families gather for their concurrent day trips and tours. The backstory This is an independently-owned property, founded in 1956 as a 3-star hotel by Franz Inselkammer—an entrepreneur with his own Ayinger brewery and beer tent in Oktoberfest—above its namesake, the bygone Platzl stage. While that theater shuttered in 1995, the hotel rages on—a 1988 rebuild brought it to 4-star status. The rooms Old-school Bavarian brass—dark wood paneling melds seamlessly into built-in wardrobes and shelving for your belongings, with cream-colored walls and clean white linens offering the perfect balance. Some rooms are bigger than others, so be sure to upgrade if space is a priority. Food and drink Options on the premises are boundless, ranging from a comprehensive buffet breakfast to those aforementioned affiliate establishments. Coffee and cocktails in Josefa, the lobby bar, require the least steps from your room, but venture further to Ayinger Am Platzl for that classic Bavarian beer and schnitzel. One would be remiss, while staying here, not to dine at Pfistermühle, which earned its spot in the Michelin Guide by serving divinely modern twists on those Bavarian classics beneath the vaulted ceilings of its 16-century mill setting. The neighborhood/area Right around the corner from Marienplatz, Munich’s Central Square, the hotel is walking distance from many of Munich’s most heavily-trafficked sites and from a major hub of public transit. Despite its proximity to the bustle, however, Platzl’s immediate block is narrow and quiet—one might mistake it for a small stretch of village. The service Lovely, demure, and comprehensive. Be sure to book a bicycle to ride around the city at your leisure. Accessibility Accessible rooms are granted upon requests, and the hotel keeps its own wheelchairs to transport guests who may need them."

"Embracing Munich’s old-meets-new sensibility—a product of Bavarian legacy and reconstruction after World War II—the Platzl Hotel in the Old Town combines Bavarian charm with modern amenities. Its standout features are its romantic Moorish-style spa and the Pfistermühle restaurant, housed in a restored 16th-century flour mill, that serves traditional but upscale Bavarian cuisine." - Stefanie Waldek

Great location, clean, newly renovated hotel and most importantly very helpful staff. Rooftop sauna was icing on the cake! I arrived early before I can check in to my room. Grateful for the spa/shower arrangement. I’ve stayed in many hotels in Munich, Platzl hotel is by far the best! Definitely coming back!

Very nice and cosy hotel, ideally located next to Marienplatz. I stayed there for a conference. ||The breakfast was great. The spa area on the top floor was highly appreciated. ||It is a great place to stay if you want to be close to everything in the Old town.

We loved the location of this hotel, next to the beer hall, and only a few steps from the Marienplatz train station stop. Great access to Christmas markets, wonderful attached restaurant (the Wirsthaus) and a friendly staff. Our room was great, with adjustable heat, and the breakfast was a joy. The staff in the breakfast room was wonderful. It is definitely a few extra dollars compared to the hotels near the central train station, but we enjoyed every aspect of this hotel and will stay there again.

We loved our stay here. Super friendly and accommodating staff. Rooms were well laid out, very clean and quiet. The location around the corner from Marianplatz was perfect and allowed us to walk to everything.

I stayed here with my wife in January of 2025. The location is central to the main square, public transit, and close to the many iconic beer halls. We had an issue with our room and made the front desk aware. They quickly fixed the issue and made our stay in Munich much more enjoyable. This hotel has some, if not the best customer service I have ever experienced. Thank you! I highly recommend this hotel! (and check out the restaurant! the bartender spoke perfect english and Spanish!)

**Females, be aware that men’s housekeepers at this four-star hotel can unexpectedly enter your room at night without your notice.** I was staying here with a friend when we were relaxing in our room when a black male housekeeper unexpectedly opened the door. I was shocked and he tried to flee after being caught. I immediately went outside and confronted him, asking why he was in our room. He claimed he had forgotten something and seemed nervous about being caught. I immediately went downstairs to complain, but the front desk employees dismissed my concerns. I demanded to speak to the supervisor, and I threatened to call the police. They apologized and promised to ensure that no one would enter my room without my permission. The manager gave us a measly Wine bottle as an apology. If you ask for toothpaste or a toothbrush at the front desk, they will tell you to buy them at the store tomorrow because they have very limited supplies. I had booked a three-night stay and spent $1500, they couldn’t even provide me with a toothbrush and toothpaste. I went downstairs because they refused to give me these basic hygiene kits, claiming they didn’t have them. However, when I asked them on the phone, they admitted to having them. So, I asked them, “What’s wrong with this hotel? Is there no way you can provide toothpaste and toothbrush?” They gave it to me after I complained. -Hotel room: little dusty in the bathroom. Bed mattress is old. -Hotel amenity: Sauna for both genders. -Hotel location: close to restaurants, Christmas market and shopping area. -if you take taxi from this hotel to airport approximately 110€ to 120€.

I run a small business that brings travelers to different destinations within Europe. Recently, I had the pleasure of working with your hotel as we stayed for Christmas Markets this year. While we were only in your hotel for one night, the impact your staff made on our group of 10 was impactful. From your team in reservations who talked us through every detail as they assisted us as we made our reservations to the front desk who went above and beyond to assist us as we navigated the city and reservations! And the amazing staff who allowed us to enjoy a drink together in the lobby. Simply put, it brings us such pleasure to be able to write you about your incredibly helpful staff.  We can not wait to return and enjoy your true hospitality once more.

Great location, good amenities. Room was expensive given its size, paid $600 AUD per night, very small and no space for luggage. In order to upgrade we needed to add $60AUD per night. Stayed a year before and noticed some changes. No fresh milk for a cup of tea available, only powdered, unless you pay for it. Would stay again but would also look for alternatives.

Yelp
Our stay at the Platzl Hotel could not have been more lovely. Our first time in Germany and boy were we lucky to stay in this perfect little spot! Smack dab in the middle of the action is the Platzl Hotel; it is quaint and warm yet vibrant and large for European standards. We didn't know what to expect as it was our first time here so we were pleasantly surprised that the entire staff spoke both German and English (we attempted to speak German but sadly ours is lacking); and they were all so nice and accommodating. After a long flight we were greeted in the beautiful lobby by the bellman who took our bags and then escorted us to the front desk to check in. The woman up front was darling and shared all the Platzl had to offer and that they would have our room ready soon. The hotel is in prime location so while we waited we explored the city for a bit. It was wonderful to be so close to everything we wanted to see and do. Once we got back we relaxed in the lobby where they have a fine little coffee shop with pastries and goodies and comfortable couches to lounge on. Finally our room was ready and we were elated to walk into a large room with incredible wallpaper/artwork, a big comfy bed (we crashed immediately upon entering), a sitting area, coffee to die for, and a great big bathroom with a separate shower and toilet area. The Platzl enables the tourist to get every taste of German culture with the amenities and comfort of home. The hotel also boasts a fully equipped gym and a relaxation area with robes, steam rooms, saunas, and spa options. Along with those amenities they also offer a giant German breakfast spread; we did not have time to partake but we could smell the deliciousness all over the property. The prices for the rooms aren't cheap, but they aren't crazy either. If you can swing it then I highly recommend staying at the Platzl Hotel; they are friendly, the location is perfect, and the comfort makes your trip that much more enjoyable.

Yelp
Pluses 1. Great location area walking distance to Christmas markets and Residenz Munich Areas to improve 1. Room 203 had a very uncomfortable bed with a big hole in the middle. They place two additional mattress cushions to compensate but it was the lumpiest mattress I have ever slept on 2. We were facing the Hofbrayhaus so it was very loud until midnight each night 3. Not enough plugs for electricity and none by the bed Recommended if you have a different room and better mattress and not facing the brew house.

Yelp

Mindy T.

Yelp
Great walkable location but the room wasn't quite as luxurious as I hoped for the price. Beds are super comfortable and the bathroom is pretty but I didn't notice many upgrades beyond comfy robes in the room. The breakfast is 34 euros per person per day in addition to the room fee. Overall it's a very nice hotel but didn't get a 5 star experience for me.

Aimee K.

Yelp
Our stay at the Platzl Hotel was a lovely experience. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The rooms are spacious, the beds are exceedingly comfortable and there was plenty of space for all our belongings. The rooms are well stocked with coffee, tea, water, soda and other amenities such as shampoo, lotion and soap. Breakfast is spectacular. Each and every item was delicious and the variety is fantastic. Location is absolutely perfect. Close to Marienplatz, Viktualienmarkt and the Hofbrauhaus. We walked everywhere including to the meeting points for all our tours. We had a marvelous view of the city and the Heilig Geist church whose bells rang every morning and evening. Although the area can be noisy well into the evening with people enjoying food and beer at the many surrounding restaurants, our room was surprisingly quiet due to the heavy glass in the windows. We slept soundly. The lobby is enchanting and cozy. We sat on the comfy sofas and enjoyed our gelato several times. Overall a wonderful time at the Platzl. We will most certainly stay here again.

Molly Z.

Yelp
We really enjoyed our stay at the Platzl Hotel! The woman who checked us in was very sweet and she even called a restaurant down the street and got us a reservation for that evening. We spent a couple evenings in the lobby enjoying drinks from the bar. The bar staff was also very friendly. The room was fairly spacious and was very clean. The shower was nice and big as well. They were renovating the spa so we were bummed that we couldn't use it but we understand that updates need to be made sometimes. We would definitely stay here again if we come back to Munich and would highly recommend to anyone!

Kim S.

Yelp
Comfortable hotel with an old feel and modern touches for comfort. The shower is a little dangerous for senior citizens and those with poor balance (or drunk). There are no shelves to place shampoo/body wash/scrubbers, so everything must be placed on the floor of the shower. One slip, and you're on the way to the hospital. They offer bathrobes, guest slippers, and a fridge with complimentary beer, sparkling water, and soda. The only hotel I've ever stayed in with a truly awesome full power blowdryer.

Kelsey F.

Yelp
Even during a COVID lockdown, this place has all the comfort and charm you could ask for. The receptionist seemed genuinely helpful and moments after entering the room called up to ensure we were satisfied and comfortable. My favorite feature was the window they fully opened to the beautiful rooftop silhouette of the city. The bathroom was very spacious and had all the toiletries you could need. The entire building was clean and well maintained. Their bar was even open which is a nice touch during a lockdown, especially as a traveler. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to anyone in the old town area of Munich. You're literally in the middle of the best part of downtown. Will be returning!

Cyndy K.

Yelp
Cyndy's Bottom Line: Excellent location to restaurants, shopping and landmarks to see. . We stayed here because of the location and highly recommend it. Service is friendly and attentive. We arrived early and were able to check into a room which was available but at an additional cost. The additional cost makes up for the convenience. Great sized room and bathroom. Comfortable bed and pillows. Shower water pressure is good. The breakfast is very good. Serving a wide variety of items to select. Coffee is delicious and smooth and you receive a carafe at your table. Excellent for a serious coffee drinker! Eggs are ordered at the table but there are hard boiled and scrambled eggs featured at the buffet. Fresh fruit is served, juices, variety of teas, assortment of breads and croissants. A great way to start your tourist day!

K F.

Yelp
Staff is very friendly, helpful and the location is very good. Very close to train station (maybe equivalent of 3 short is blocks) and very easy to get to the hotel from Munich hb when you land in Munich. Take the s1 or s8 to Marienplatz station and google the hotel it's a 4-5 min walk easy. Plenty of good food around hofbrau beer garden hard rock if you're craving a burger and a Starbucks all within a block. Get a few drinks while you're out for your mini fridge stores close early at least it did on my visit. Hope this review is helpful.

Jane D.

Yelp
This place was almost perfect. Service was great but and this was an issue the cleaner they use smells bad and smells a-lot it's got into our bags and since we are traveling it's not getting out very easily. This place would get 5-stars if not for the smell of a funeral home!

Michelle M.

Yelp
Our group of friends came here for Oktoberfest and we had the pleasure of meeting Tanya! We had a big order of espresso martinis and she stepped up to the challenge :) and they were absolutely delicious. She also provided a local perspective on what to do, where to go, and what to see and I hope everyone stops by the bar to meet her. She was amazing and know she's a tremendous asset to the Platzl Hotel. We hope she makes it to NYC sometime soon to see us!

David T.

Yelp
I've waited several weeks to write this review, but my recollection of this stay is clear. Stayed at the Platzl during the last weekend of Oktoberfest. It is located in the heart of Munich and is close to shopping, restaurants, and public transportation. From the start, each staff person was very friendly and the majority of them spoke English. We didn't have a car, but a parking garage is available. The room was clean and well appointed - not quite as large as many US hotel rooms, but large enough. Most mornings we went down for the scrumptious breakfast buffet - good variety of dishes with something for everyone. The lobby bar was also a nice spot to meet friends before heading out or returning from an excursion. When I make it back, I plan to revisit!

Alan E. M.

Yelp
I was a guest at the Platzl this past summer while attending performances at the Bayerische Stastsoper summer festival at the Nationaltheater. The location could not be better. The staff were great. While some other colleagues whom I was traveling with had issues with their rooms, I had no problems. One note, this hotel is in the heart of the Altstadt, two blocks behind Marienplatz and one block away from the Hofbrauhaus so there is a lot of street noise well into the evenings. They had a more than satisfying breakfast buffet which I do recommend as they feature some of their house specialties. I would highly recommend this hotel and would definitely return in the future.

Joanne Y.

Yelp
we were enticed by the beautiful hotel lobby to grab a drink, but the service of the on-site Josefa Cafe treated us atrociously. Both the male and female baristas pointedly ignored us, the male black barista glanced up from counting his money purse, looked me in the eyes with a glowering look and put his eyes back on the purse. The female barista barked at us to sit down when we went to the bar to ask for a bar menu. Munich folks have been helpful and kind throughout our visit, so I'm not sure what this sour attitude is about. We walked out, as there are many better places in Munich to patronize with our smiles and money.

Vicky N.

Yelp
We LOVE the Platzl!! We had a wonderful stay at Platzl in Munich. It really is the perfect place to stay while visiting as it is central to absolutely everything. An easy walk to your room after a fun night at the Hofbrahuas ;) The rooms are very sweet and traditional and just feel right in theme for the city. The bathrooms were honestly not my favorite as the halfway semi fixed shower door does get a lot around the bathroom wet and I would also suggest a smaller sink for more counter space but it really did not bother us that much. The only other bit of downside is that our stay was a bit pricey (700 EUR) and can imagine it higher during summertime but with it being in such a central location it does make sense and it is just a matter of saving and sucking it up. The staff was excellent and helpful and we enjoyed a lovely breakfast every morning. Try the honey! The lobby is lovely and really gives off a warm and inviting ambience. We look forward to our next visit to Munich and stay at the Platzl.

Jennifer R.

Yelp
Perfect place to stay in heart of Munich! From the clean rooms, nicely decorated decor, to the super friendly staff this place is a win. We found the location to be pretty perfect for walking around the city to having plenty of great places to eat nearby. Definitely a great option!!

Michaela L.

Yelp
We stayed here on a Rick Steves tour. They don't always put the tours here depending on how booked things are in town, so we lucked out that it was at the end of the season when stuff in the Munich city center starts to free up. This was by far the nicest hotel we stayed in on the whole trip. The rooms are actually quite large by European standards. If you've got room for a desk and a chair and can open *both* your suitcases and still walk around the bed, then you are in amazing shape!

Laurence W.

Yelp
The Hotel Platzl is a typical business hotel: very professional (doorman, bellhop, the works), modern rooms, a nice lobby, and utterly devoid of any character whatsoever, all for a price that probably exceeds its value. The location *is* excellent, the breakfasts were good, and they have a bizarre Moorish-decorated mini-gym + suana + steam room that you might enjoy. Beyond all that, I would probably look elsewhere were I to do it again. Oh yeah, no free wifi, but they do have a little internet room with free printing in the lobby.

Brionna W.

Yelp
We had a fantastic stay here over Christmas week! The location is PRIME... we walked everywhere! The staff is so friendly, accommodating and helpful! Stephanie in particular was wonderful and helped us book a reservation for Christmas night because we did not think about everything being closed! If we ever make it back to Munich we will definitely be staying here again. Highly recommended!

Latifa S.

Yelp
Little piece of heaven for Oktoberfest, 2013!! 3 star hotel, 4 stars service!! You know that little known german festival? Oktoberfest? Where they transformed entire town into one massive party??? Yea that one. I've got lucky enough to stay here for Oktoberfest and I'm so thankful! You know how crazy busy and sold out everything gets in Munich during this time? Sheesh. I got the very last room. Now that's one time I believe in luck. Munich was my last stop in month long European trip this past September. I was done with traveling by the time I've reached here. I've been on and off more trains and plane than I care to count in one month. I just want to drink, party and get home! First off: holy hell! Munich is cold as balls!! I mean wtf! I came from Rome and holy hell. I nearly died from freezing my butt off. It was bloody cold. The last thing you need is to find a hotel in a cab when you don't speak any german. Thankfully, location of this place was fantastic!! Well, I knew this when was booking. ( I paid an arm and leg for it). I arrived around 10 am freezing cold morning to this place and a day before they open the Oktoberfest! This place was buzzing. Hotel lobby is nice, cozy and warm!!! And they gave us our wifi codes right away. Even to our friend that wasn't staying with us. Thanks reception peeps. Check in wasn't till 4 pm but they said they will try and have it ready by 2 pm for us. No worries. I'm hungry anyways, I can go explore this buzzing massive party outside. Location~ MarienPlatz is literally 5 minutes walk. Every cab drivers know this place. Yey me!! Hard Rock cafe is right around the corner, there are a tons of restaurants right behind the hotel. Super cute shops, delish ramen place, Flafel, massive brewery are all within 1 minute walk. They even some asian strip club if you are into all that. Rooms~ our room was cute and cozy. I love the closet space and pretty bathroom. it was almost like being back in the attic but this time, its bigger? The only complaint was the windows. Damn those Germans party all night. I couldn't sleep because street down below was so noisy!! But then again, nobody come to Oktoberfest to sleep right? Wifi~ Meh! It was a ok and it was slow. They did apologize for it and let me use their business center for free. Thanks guys! Free Breakfast~ this was good for those hangover mornings. When you want a bite of pastry/danish and some cappuccinos before you head for Oktoberfest madness or those meaty German lunches. Overall, I like this place. It's not the usual fancy over the top place but it's very cute. I really enjoy the location and cute rooms. I also appreciated how nice the staffs were during the craziest week of the year. There was no slip up except the wifi. It was comfortable and definitely pleasant. I'll probably come back when I visit Munich aka Munchen again. Danke Schon, Hotel Platzl. Danke Schon!

Paul W.

Yelp
So close to the MarienPlatz, opera and closest hotel to the Hofbräuhaus, which is why I stayed here. I rolled in and out just to drink for a week. I'm not proud, but it worked out fab. Nice rooms, nice people and very tolerant of drunk Americans if you are charming. I had fun.

Amber C.

Yelp
I have stayed at this hotel about 3 times. It's central to a bunch of different places, great for a tourist. The rooms are a lot smaller than rooms in the US but I think that's more of a regional thing and not specific to the hotel. Breakfast is pretty good and I love ordering the apple strudel in my room. I don't sleep well when I travel and I could hear folks sing outside. It's entertaining for me but may annoy some hotel guests...so if you are a light sleeper I suggest that you request an inside room. I feel very comfortable at this hotel, enough to stay every time I'm in Munich. The staff is phenomenal, it's beautiful and clean. I can't wait to go back again.

Zach G.

Yelp
Excellent hotel in such a fantastic location. Just a couple short blocks from the Marienplatz station with direct connection to the airport and Hauptbahnhof. Near some good restaurants and bars, as well as tourist and historical sites. Checking in, service was so incredibly welcoming after the long flight, and the English was very good. My room was small, but comfortable. I was only spending one night, so it was perfect for that, but anything longer might be a bit tight, especially if I was spending some time in my room (i.e. not just using it as a place to sleep). The view from my room, however, was just so fantastic, looking over the church steeples and the sunset. I slept too late for breakfast, unfortunately, so I cannot comment on that. I had a couple drinks in the bar, which had friendly service but only a couple of mediocre beer choices. WiFi was free and fast, which is great for a hotel in city center. Would not hesitate to come back!

Kelly G.

Yelp
My husband chose this place for our return to Munich for its high star rating. Unfortunately, that also meant an older age group that stayed at the hotel and very lacking in young people. The decor also steers towards dark and old looking. The tables and chair was actually a corner bench with table. Dark wood everywhere. The bathroom, however, was very bright and modern! Had a tub, which they also provided bath salts! The tub looked very clean so I had a nice bath in it. Great location to Marienplatz though, with both the U and S Banh stops located close by. Walking distance to many of the beer halls and the market area. No wireless internet, so be prepared to bring your own cord! Once you're connected though, its high speed and stays well connected. Breakfast is typical European fare - breads, sausages, jams, yogurt, fruit, hams, cheese, etc. BUT they also serve WAFFLES. yum. Overall, a nice place to stay, but if you're in the younger crowd, I would definitely suggest staying somewhere else.

Brian B.

Yelp
This is my third stay here at the Platzl and I still think this is the best hotel in Munich. Clean rooms with everything working, super friendly helpful staff and fantastic location if you are planning to visit the city center. Minutes away from the Marienplatz. Very good breakfast buffet that is part of your room price.

BRUCE S.

Yelp
We loved this Hotel-great location a walk away from a ton of stuff and The Hofbrauhaus is behind it. Clean rooms. Reasonable price (for Munich). A great breakfast buffet spread is included! The only complaint I have is the free computer in the Lobby. It is one slow dog, and so is the internet service. I used it only twice and I am glad I didn't have to use it more.

Matthew B.

Yelp
Awesome place in the heart of Munich. Clean and close to everything. Incredible breakfast included every day, an absolute feast of a buffet, smoked salmon (two kinds), lots of fresh fruit and juices, and everything else you could imagine. There must be 50+ items to choose from...

Khuram D.

Yelp
Stayed here for a week and wasn't impressed. First, the good - The breakfast was nice with lots of options. The wifi was fast. The location is perfect, right in the heart of Munich. The staff are also friendly. Now, the bad - The rooms are extremely small. For the prices they charge (over $200+ per night), you would expect a reasonably sized room. I felt very stuffed the whole time. The size is comparable to a cheap motel room in the United States. It was also very hot and noisy. I could hear other guest outside the room and hear people on the street as well. Wouldn't stay here again, feel like I overpaid big time.

Keith K.

Yelp
Locaion is perfect. Our deluxe room had a decent amount of space. The bad news is that in this entire hotel there are two irons. Hopefully all of your clothes do not require any ironing after being packed in your suitcase. The rooms also don't have air conditioning. We tried two different rooms and the AC never turned on even in the lowest setting.

James L.

Yelp
First ask when you check in if the air conditioning is working properly in the room they assign you. We checked in early but our assigned room was boiling. We went back down and were told there were no more rooms. We went back to the room but could not take it. Then we Increased the volume level of the conversation with the front desk and surprisingly a room appeared! The desk clerk told us that this happens all of the time and that there are problems with at least half the rooms. By the way, now we know why they moved us to 211 and why it was available. Chanting from the beer hall was so loud that we could not sleep, though it did close at 1am.

Carlos V.

Yelp
Awesome hotel. It's a classic, but it's not old. I mean... it well equipped, service is great, staff is super friendly. Great room, good bed, great cleaning services. The breakfast is outstanding. It's kinda expensive, but due to services and location, I really find it worth it.

Carol M.

Yelp
Great location for everything! Marienplatz, Hofbrauhaus, shopping, restaurants, tours. Would come back again. Service is excellent, breakfast included and big selection. Warm friendly staff.

Stephen M.

Yelp
One of my favorite hotels in Europe. Any hotel so centrally located with such elegant appointments and all the modern conveniences would get an automatic 4 stars. What sets the Platzl apart is the extraordinary service from a dedicated and cheerful staff. The room was spacious and had all the extras I have come to rely on - such as free wifi and high-speed internet, excellent room service and a well-stocked bar/fridge. Great complimentary breakfast too was standard. Everyone spoke English perfectly, and no request or query went unanswered. From the moment I checked in, I never had to tell anyone my name - even the housekeeping staff treated me like family. NOTE: As of August 2016, this is one of the few hotels that has special rooms for smokers. If you don't smoke don't worry - they all seem to be on a single floor. If you are a smoker, you should definitely call ahead to confirm that. Also, some rooms are above a fairly noisy street. I wasn't bothered because I live in New York City. But you should ask for a quiet room when booking, if that's important to you. I'm definitely returning to Munich, and now I know exactly where I will live when I get there.

I stayed here for a week in July 2014. Very nice and friendly staff, good breakfast (although you should try to sit near the windows because of the bouncing floor), very good showers with traditional US door that completely closed the shower. Also, very good location, depending on where you need to go. I had to remove two stars, however, because the air conditioning is only pretend air conditioning. It's better if they didn't pretend and just claimed no air conditioning. Their only answer is "well if you open a window it won't work." Yeah, I had my window closed and the AC barely did anything. Unfortunately, this is common and most of Europe. Regardless, I had a couple of tough nights because it was so hot. Ny only almost solution was, after it got cool enough, opening the window and then using White Noise to try to block out the noise from the street. In that regard, as a warning, you are just around the corner from the most popular Bierhaus, Hofbrauhaus. even though it closes early, to street is still noisy after closing.
