Google
I got the aloha smoothie (16oz) and it was delicious!!! The building is so pretty and i definitely recommend! The service was okay though.

Google
The food is amazing! From the quality and taste to the expediency of service. I’ve tried almost half of all the bowls and only one of the drinks. When it’s busy, the service lacks slightly but don’t let that deter you from coming. I’ll continue being a loyal customer, time and time again!

Google
Pretty good smoothie place i got the acai energy the line was not that long at all but when we got to the front and we were about to order the lady just walked in the the kitchen 2-3 minutes she came there and we ordered it it came out really fast and it was really good

Google
Stopped by for an 8th avenue açaí bowl today. I mixed in vanilla vegan protein and I loved my bowl. The workers are incredibly welcoming and greet all the customers. The atmosphere is a very laid back vibe. Definitely recommend

Google
Got the 8th avenue açaí bowl today. I mixed in vanilla vegan protein and almond butter and it was bomb! The entire vibe of the place was on point.

Google
I love the smoothie and juice options here. Most places I go normally do one or the either well and the other not so much - but Playa does both well! Their bowls are delicious and plentiful and match the value you pay for. I do recommend adding extra toppings to your bowl though :)

Google
Playa Bowls....let me count the ways that I love you. The only drawback (which has nothing to do with them) is that it isn't warm here every single day because we love you so much and want a smoothie bowl every visit!! I just throw caution to the wind and order them in winter and just shiver...they are worth it. We love the clean options....every bowl we have ever ordered is delicious. Sitting in the window and watching people go by is also sort of our favorite. I cannot say enough about Playa Bowls..this is my family's favorite and always will be! Clean food, clean restroom, clean restaurant....lots of options and they even have oatmeal bowls when you want something warm, which I have yet to do because the smoothie bowls are just that good.

Google
Had the weirdest experience with the cashier Sebastian. He wouldn’t stop staring at me the whole time we ordered and complimented my outfit, which would normally be harmless but his mannerisms made me and my bf both uncomfortable. Even while he asked my boyfriend about the payment and whatnot, he wouldn’t even look at him it was so off putting and rude. And i’ve loved playa bowls for years, I wanted to stop at king st on our way out of folly to eat there only to be disappointed by the service. Also what this weird green stuff in my bowl 😬

Yelp
I made an online order using the app and picked up my bowl with ease. The açaí bowl tasted as good as from any other Playa Bowl location. Also, I was able to enjoy the space while eating my bowl. Noise level is great, with music playing quietly in the background. I highly recommend the Playa Bowl location in Charleston!

Yelp
Overpriced, staffed with at least one brat. When asked if a smoothie was excessively sweet (a valid question given some of the other reviews here about added sugars) the little guy behind the counter responded with "It's a smoothie. It's sweet." If you don't want to work there get a job elsewhere. Don't give these people your money. Edit: from reading other reviews, it seems that this particular employee has been there for a while. Yet another reason not to contribute to a business that doesn't seem to care about treating customers with any respect.

Yelp
Delicious every time I go. Some days they can be pretty busy but always worth the wait and fast. It's a whole meal on its own and there are a lot of options. My favorites are always the coconut and banana base.

Yelp
I'm a fan! We stopped in bc I am really loving fruit and Acai bowls right now during my pregnancy. So this is what I wanted for lunch and hubs said let's go. We arrived about 30 minutes before closing and they were slammed with to-go orders. I stood for about 10 minutes while they made a ton of bowls and caught up on those orders but once I was able to order my bowl it was ready within about 3 minutes so that was nice. I tried one of the seasonal special Winter bowls - the Avalanche Coconut Bowl: coconut blend with blue spiralina topped with blueberry, granola, banana, strawberry, walnuts, coconut flakes and some cinnamon. It was delicious. Very different from the acai base I normally get, hubs liked it too. They have a huge variety of flavors and blends for bowls - acai, matcha, coconut and another I can't remember. Probably have like 25 bowls on the menu as well as juices and smoothies. Very impressed. I'd come here all the time if I lived here! They have a rewards account for locals if you frequent often so you can get rewards for purchases. Which is good bc it's expensive! My bowl was $15. But filled with fresh ingredients and very yummy. Before we left - hubs ordered a to go smoothie from their seasonal menu - the Gingerbread Smoothie: banana, vanilla protein, blueberry flax granola, gingerbread and cinnamon spice with oat milk. It was also very good. Thick and tasty. Just like I like it! Would def. come back again and again and again!

Yelp
I love this place! Wonderful selection of bases, toppings, and various add-ins. I'm a usual at a different açaí bowl place in town and will be coming here now. Great job guys!
google avatar

Vasily K.

Yelp
You're better off having a bowl of sugar than a bowl at Playa. I got the 8th Ave with added strawberries and blueberries. The bowl was a solid size for 12 bucks, but it's borderline inedible. The acai blend is extremely sugary, and the berries are absolutely doused in honey. Holy hell, this is not good. Maybe for the college students but not for anyone else. Way too sweet.

Yelp
Love love love this place. So delicious. Love the huge array of base and topping options. Plus it's super dog friendly. Really one of my favorite bowls places. Coconut bowls are my favorite !

Yelp
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! Service was great she was very nice. Atmosphere was awesome felt like I was in Hawaii and it was so tropical, And the food is indescribable. Absolutely awesome and will be going back.

Gretchen S.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing! It started with Byron taking our order (welcoming, energetic, happy, and genuine) then the food: we tried a green bowl, an açaí bowl and an oatmeal bowl. It was all freshly prepared with fresh produce. I'd eat here everyday if I lived nearby. I really hope they open a store in Detroit!
google avatar

Lori B.

Yelp
Ok... not the best. Had the same smoothie 2 days in a row and both were very watery. Would've liked then a bit thicker
google avatar

Christine B.

Yelp
Killer bowls with generous portions and fresh ingredients. Great atmosphere for a quick break from the hustle and bustle of King St. Also love that you mix the base of bowls - ordered the Nutelloco bowl with half acai and it was so refreshing!
google avatar

Lauren L.

Yelp
I decided to stop by Playa Bowls while on an adventure walk. The aesthetics were bright and draw you in. The menu was extensive offering a variety of acai bowls, poke bowls, smoothies, juices, and coffee items. I loved the variety and ordered the Pura Vida Acai Bowl. It came with strawberries, blueberries, and granola. I added mango. The bowl tasted amazing! The only reason I gave 4 stars is because the acai was nearly frozen, but it was great after waiting approximately 5 minutes. I definitely will

Yelp
I work a Renew Medical on King Street, and everyone knows I MUST go to playa bowl during one of my shifts for an electric mermaid bowl with an açaí base - a little extra granola (their granola is so good!)

DE K.

Yelp
This place is amazing the playa bowls are refreshing and smoothies are decent and highly recommend it .

Yelp
Acai, green & pitaya bowls perfect and refreshing for the hot & humid summers in Charleston. I wish they had a place like this near me! The place has a variety of options from bowls, juices and smoothies! Nice atmosphere & decor. Seating is limited and is first come first sit basis. If you are indecisive on the bowls, you can mix 2 bowls and add/ remove toppings. I opted for a mixed bowl with pitaya (dragon fruit) and green. I honestly couldn't taste the difference with the pitaya vs. green but overall the bowl was good with the perfect amount of sweet, cold, fruity deliciousness. I'll be stopping by again if I happen to be in town!
google avatar

Jay B.

Yelp
This has been my go to spot for an acai bowl in Charleston for a while now. Every single time the quality and customer service is always great! They do have other bowls but I only ever get their acai. My favorite is the Nutella and Tropical bowls.

Caroline C.

Yelp
Expensive but delicious. Always consistently tasty and nice service each time. I love the Nutella bowl.
google avatar

Panayota E.

Yelp
So good!!! So fresh!! And i love that they use compostable products! I love all the different combos they have available for bowls and smoothies! I also had my baby in the car with me and it's kind of hard to find parking downtown so they let me call and pay over the phone and a sweet gal ran out my order to me!! Such a life saver!!
google avatar

Stefany B.

Yelp
The feel. The vibe. The decor. The music. The friendly girls at the counter. Yes - it's Pineapple Land!! As you might know from some of my other reviews, we are always on the lookout for Boba tea. Headed towards the store next-door we were pulled into this shop by The bowl photos in the window! We were not disappointed. I only wish the lady walking by right now and the pineapple and fruit dress and pineapple earrings would come into this store because she's so totally appropriately dressed. Dang. Wish I got a photo!!!!!!! Anyhow- the Tropical açaí bowl was perfect. The granola was the perfect consistency and the pineapple, banana, coconut layered quite lovely over the açaí purée. WIN WIN. My coconut cold brew coffee was perfect pick me up. AND I scored King St parking right out front. Now THATS a win.

Julia P.

Yelp
Really refreshing bowls! Service was quick, seating isn't great. Mostly high tables looking out on kings street.

Emily A.

Yelp
About a week ago I stopped in to what seemed like a healthy clean eatery... boy was I wrong. Despite the marketing claim that their acai is all natural, my order was incredibly sugary and artificial tasting. As I sat in the restaurant attempting to eat the nearly inedible bowl, I watched what appeared to be the manager hit a sort of dab pen or vape. He then proceeded to talk on the phone while taking customers orders. The whole aura of the restaurant was unsanitary and an overall mess. I would recommend trying any other acai or smoothie place in town, playa just isn't it.

Yelp
The store hours change throughout the year but they don't update it online. I made my schedule around their opening time only to discover their hours were different. When I mentioned this to the employee she said she was aware that their online hours didn't match their actual hours. I got there at 9am and was surprised they were already open when in fact they opened at 8am. They were completely empty, probably because no one else knew they could order then. My bowl was fresh and delicious! I preferred the pitaya over the acai. Could have done without the honey drizzle over my strawberries. The bathroom was clean and spacious. The staff was friendly.
google avatar

Pat K.

Yelp
So many delicious choices. The place is so colorful and inviting. The portions were huge. Wry busy people constantly coming and going so many bowl and drink choices
google avatar

Tori T.

Yelp
We stopped in to Playa Bowls on a trip to Charleston on an extremely HOT day. The Acai bowls we got were so freshing and delicious. After coming here we started eating them regularly. Unfortunately we don't have a Playa Bowls near us, or else we would probably make this a regular stop. The space was clean and enjoyed the seating area they had facing king street to enjoy some people watching.
google avatar

Christina M.

Yelp
The perfect place to grab an Acai or pitaya bowl! I love that this place gives a bountiful amount of both smoothie and fresh fruit/toppings! I have had a few bowls from here-- coconut base, pitaya, and acai. The coconut was very good but a little too sweet for my liking. The electric mermaid pitaya and tropical Acai were both amazing! The only thing I would change about the electric mermaid would be banana instead of mango.
google avatar

Melissa G.

Yelp
Playa Bowls is one of the best places in town for an Acai bowls. Many other stores are trying to make them; but Playa Bowls specializes in them and re-invents them. They not only offer Acai, but other bases like Pitaya, coconut or Kale (which you can mix and match) but they also have a bar of fresh fruits in hand to make any combination different. I particularly enjoy the bowls with Nutella because it transforms a healthy meal into a treat. The ambiance is super cool and transports you to a tropical paradise even on the gloomiest days. Tip: Do not order pickup on doordash; the prices are $2 higher per bowl. It is better to just walk in and order, they are made super quick and you save $2 per bowl.

Yelp
Nice healthy (or relative) option compared to other things. Was a hit with our family and a pleasant break from the heat. Place was clean and cozy.

Andrew K.

Yelp
Solid bowl! Wait time was a little on the longer side due to Labor Day weekend crowd, typically they have your order ready in an appropriate amount of time. Ordered the Power and Tropical bowl and they did not disappoint!
google avatar

Chelsi U.

Yelp
I visited Playa again because obviously I love it here. I tried the Nutella açaí bowl. The customer service improved tremendously and let's face it - everyone has their days. This is my first açaí bowl - I usually get the pacific green bowl but I wanted to try something new. I can now attest that you can't go wrong here. Every bowl is absolutely delicious. Come to Playa Bowls before you try another açaí bowl establishment. This will be your favorite for sure.

Yelp
Walking around beautiful Downtown Charleston you will find many dessert places, ice cream, gelato, pastries, etc. But a HEALTHY dessert? Only at Playa Bowls! Prepared fresh to order, many truly healthy options, great ingredients and friendly staff have made this my go-to spot for the summer months. We had two of their raw blended coconut bowls and were presently surprised and sweetly satisfied. (Look at my pics for ingredients). Next time I will surely try their Acai bowls. A minor issue was finding unlisted ingredients (blueberries) in the CocoPower Bowl, they need to pay more attention during preparation; obvious issues come to mind: allergies, cross contamination and/or unpleasant flavor surprises. If you're into the exotic, they have Pitaya Bowls, if not you will also find Chia and Oatmeal Pudding Bowls, Green Bowls, Banana Bowls and an array of Fresh Juices and Smoothies. Salud!

Tami E.

Yelp
My 11 year old starts talking about this place about two weeks before we arrive in Charleston and doesn't stop talking about it until we finally eat there. It's by far her favorite place to eat. We usually make 2-3 stops during the visit.

Felicia B.

Yelp
On a hot summer day, this is my go to place while on vacation in Charleston. The açaí bowl is awesome!!!
google avatar

Kristin H.

Yelp
Ordered the pura vida bowl with a scoop of peanut butter and it was delicious. Quick service and good açaí, I would definitely recommend.

Shandra R.

Yelp
Great place to eat My favorite thing to eat on a nice day Thanks for creating these
google avatar

Atteneuq E.

Yelp
Clean, delicious, friendly My bowl was so gratifying that I ate nothing else for the remainder of the day. Did not want to ruin the amazing satisfaction from my bowl.
google avatar

Madison K.

Yelp
I've been to Playa Bowls twice and each time I've had an amazing experience. Their bowls are delicious and they don't hold back on giving you the right amount of toppings. They also have the best granola! Their smoothies are also delicious and the right consistency! I recommend the strawberry banana smoothie. Inside Playa Bowls is also so cute and has lots of light. It's perfect to sit down and enjoy your food. You get the perfect view of King Street. Overall an awesome place, check it out.

Morgan H.

Yelp
The ingredients and menu are wonderful with nice variety and a beautiful setting. 3 stars because for the last year snd a half or so, the customer service has lacked. Not just one time but the last 3-4 times I have been in the store, I regretted it.
google avatar

Regina O.

Yelp
Rude customer service. I politely asked a quested and was the employee responded with a snarky comment.

Jenna M.

Yelp
They have the best açaí in Charleston. Their store is super cute and has a great vibe. The only thing disappointing is how slow it is. Every time I come in it take 10-15+ minutes to get my açaí bowl. Even when there's nobody else in there.

Kyah F.

Yelp
I waited in line for thirty minutes and was still not close to the line. Their website and app is always down.
google avatar

Demetria M.

Yelp
There is so much to love about the downtown area of Charleston and after spending most of my morning at the farmers market at marion square, I strolled by playa bowls for a refreshing treat before heading to my car. The menu is massive here and loaded with fresh fruit bowls, smoothies, fresh juices, oatmeal, chia pudding, etc...........there are just so many choices but I just decided on the Aloha smoothie(banana, mango, pineapple, coconut milk) and it was perfect, refreshing and not too sweet. I love that they use coconut, almond, or cashew milk. If you're an early riser like me, you will find lots of street parking, or if you are walking and enjoying the downtown area give them a try and grab a seat by the window and enjoy the sights.

Andrew O.

Yelp
Unfortunately, the service was lacking. Has to wait 30 minutes for a bowl when it was not that busy. The food itself was good but due to service will not be back.
google avatar

Rachel A.

Yelp
They have so many different options for smoothie bowls. They also serve amazing iced coffee, along with juices, smoothies, oatmeal, etc.
google avatar

Ana V.

Yelp
The absolute best bowl I have had. The guy that served us was very helpful and quick. we had the nutelloco and it was great!

vanilla c.

Yelp
they took an hour to give me my food and there was no toppings at all and my strawberries had mold on them
google avatar

Marian B.

Yelp
If you're not white, don't go here. The energy as soon as you walk in the door is nothing but racist vibes. (If you're black then you know the vibes I'm referring to) There was two men and one woman working and none of them greeted me as I as I came in and no one said anything to me until I said "Hey how are you, this is my first time here" The guy literally just stared at me and said "ok". I wish I would have never spent my time energy or money on that bland ass smoothie.
google avatar

Scott H.

Yelp
First time trying an Açaí bowl and it was fantastic at this drop in cool little place. The people were very nice and the fruit was so fresh.
google avatar

Sri R.

Yelp
Great Place to check out - really good one .... Touch wood
google avatar

Matt J.

Yelp
Top 3 best açaí bowls I've ever had! So delicious and so kind!!! 10/10. Ask for extra peanut butter!!! They already put a good amount on but the extra is soooo worth it!
google avatar

Gloria U.

Yelp
It was just okay. I've had better and creamier açaí bowls. I got the Dragonberry and it tasted like water. I trashed it unfortunately. My friends got other bowls that they liked but didn't necessarily enjoy. So I guess it depends on what you get; they're right "not all bowls are created equally". The wait was also entirely too long.
