Playa Bowls

Came here while flying out of Newark on November 3. Tiffany was super sweet and helpful. I ordered the 8th Ave Açaí bowl and thought it had peanut butter. When she called my name I asked if I could buy a little peanut butter and she said I’ll just add some. She smiled at me and was so happy to help!

I got a dragonfruit bowl with berries and granola and I’m so disappointed. It’s literally just icy chunks of frozen pitaya smothered in honey and berries… for $16. I’ve had blended pitaya bowls from other restaurants before that are delicious. This is not good.

Good: Nice location. Acai is edible. Fruit is fresh. Bad: Slow service. Acai is supposed to be about fast prep. Ordered 2 bowls and it took 10 minutes without any other customers around. Liquid acai: acai is not stored at the right environment. It was a soup within 5 minutes Rude staff: no responses to “how are you?” Or “thank you”

Thrice I've come here and each time I've received an acai bowl that is half-melted and soupy. It takes longer than other franchises I've visited to get my order, and the place is dimly lit and doesn't have decent spots to sit at (only bar seats), unlike many other Playa Bowl locations. I LOVE Playa Bowls and go to a branch once a week, so please change the management / ownership here because you made a mistake with this location!

I love playa bowl but yesterday i witness. very uncomfortable situation for one of the workers and I know it was i was by the pick up side and it was two female workers going back and forth i heard a worker ask another worker it was past her time and can she please clock out not in a disrespectful way and the young lady told the other young lady to please stop talking to her and after she clock out she start saying very disrespectful thing to women I guest who was the manager even try to get me on her side but i said i didnt wanna get in it calling her desperate yelling out about her living in a hotel how much more time she have very disrespectful...I think it need to be a better way yall employees talks to mangers or each other I didn't see nothing wrong when all the lady did was told her to clock out and from there it got nasty.very unfortunately to see this at the airport.

As much as I love playa bowls in other locations, this place is terrible. The first thing I noted were two female employees just yelling at each other. Not the best start, but I decided to give the bowl a try. While the prices are much more expensive than other locations, I still expected a full bowl. Not only did they only give half a bowl, But everything tasted old as if they were sitting there overnight. Definitely would not eat here again.

Terrible service. The automated order kiosk wasn’t working, but the staff continued to let everyone who walked up try to use it and watched them struggle instead of just letting people know that they had to order at the counter instead. I ordered two smoothies, waited for 15 minutes, and they never appeared. I asked the staff for assistance and they were dismissive. I eventually had to walk away without my smoothies so I wouldn’t miss my flight.

If I could give them zero stars I would. Look I work in the food industry I get it things can get busy and when you are understaffed its hard but I ordered a smoothie which was then left behind the counter for ten minutes while orders placed after mine were made and given to customers. I was then given my smoothie in a bowl??? I then asked if it could be put in a cup and the guy laughed at me. At this point I had to leave but seriously Screw that dude and the other lady who was working there because the attitude was completely unnecessary. Also I hope that they get NONE of the 25% tip I gave them.
