When my husband and I arrived, we were under the impression that the restaurant was closed because it was dark inside, and there was no one to greet us at the door upon our arrival. Once inside, we stood at the front for a good while before anyone came over to greet and seat us. The female who eventually came over, asked if we had a reservation; which we did. However Im unsure why it would have made a difference because the restaurant only had two other patrons inside and remained empty up until we were about to leave.
Once seated, so many different staff interacted with my husband and I that we didn't know who would be servicing our table. I ordered the salmon, which is supposed to come with 2 sides. However we were told they had neither and my salmon would be served with broccoli. My husband ordered the steak, macaroni and mashed potatoes... only to be told they didn't have any mashed potatoes.
When the food came out we were quite disappointed with the lack there of. In all honesty, we go out to eat on a consistent basis and I must say that I've never received such a small portion of food as I did at Playa. I was done with my salmon in a few bites. Both the salmon and broccoli were salty.
After dinnner I don't typically order desert, but because my dinner portion was so small, we requested a dessert menu. We were then told that the only option was plain cheesecake.
We tried to make the best of it, as it was my husbands birthday and didn't want to ruin the night. However, I truly feel like there is more emphasis placed on the aesthetics of the restaurant than it is on service and the food quality.
Lastly, after paying the bill and arriving home I realized that I was never credited the $50 that I was initially charged to make the dinner reservation. This entire experience was an epic fail. Definitely won't be taking the 45 plus minute drive back to Miami for a second take.
Update: I was credited my $50 after the fact. We may reconsider revisiting and giving Playa a second try ❤️🙏🏽
