The Best New Brunches in Nashville, Fall-Winter 2024

"A 12 South neighborhood newcomer, Playdate is as fun as its name suggests, offering ample outdoor seating, a boozy brunch menu, and a colorful, adult-sized slide to add to the entertainment. On Fridays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., your brunch date can include a breakfast burrito, avocado toast, or chicken and waffle slider paired with a drunken slushy, espresso martini, or bubbles for the group. Because after a few mimosas, zipping down a slide sounds like a great idea." - Kellie Walton

The Hottest New Restaurants in Nashville, August 2024

"Playdate aims to tap into your inner child with interactive components paired with food and boozy drinks. Situated in a renovated 1920s white wood-paneled house in 12 South, it’s easy to spot thanks to the colorful mural of a cowgirl holding a drink splashed on the side. The outdoor patio with picnic tables and a bar is where you’ll want to be when the weather’s playing nice, enjoying a playful menu of candied bacon, chicken waffle sliders, churro ice cream sandwiches, and boozy slushies." - Kellie Walton, Eater Staff

Play Date in Nashville is such a blast and nothing like a typical bar. If you are looking for a place that feels playful, festive, and full of energy, this is it. From the moment you walk up, the outdoor decor sets the tone. It’s colorful, fun, and perfect for photos. They have igloos out front, a cozy fireplace area, and themed holiday drinks that make the experience feel extra special. Inside and out, there is so much to do that you never feel like you’re just standing around holding a drink. The giant adult slide is an absolute highlight and honestly makes this place unforgettable. It’s pure joy and adds to the playful vibe that makes Play Date stand out. The bar area is spacious and inviting, the staff is upbeat and fun, and the food was surprisingly great. This is the kind of place where you can hang out for hours without getting bored. Whether you’re out on a date, celebrating with friends, or kicking off a night in Nashville, Play Date is a must stop. Fun, festive, interactive, and full of personality. I would absolutely come back.

We were in town for a football game and met up with our son afterward at Playdate Funbar — what a cool spot! The place was decked out perfectly for Halloween, with festive decorations and a fun themed food and cocktail menu to match. I ordered the Boo BLT, fries, and a margarita, plus the pepperoni monster rolls as a starter. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing, but I have to say — the fries were the star of the show. Whatever seasoning they use is absolutely delicious! The atmosphere was lively, playful, and just plain fun. And yes — the slide is as awesome as it looks! Whether you’re local or just passing through, I definitely recommend adding Playdate Funbar to your list of must-visit spots.

We always struggle with finding a place that is kid entertainment friendly AND adult entertainment friendly. This place is perfect. The staff was so kind and food was great! The kids absolutely loved being able to run around and slide, play with others, while the adults got to enjoy a drink and Trivia.

While they are still working out some kinks it seems with having enough servers, our server Lindsey still did a great job! We didn’t know it was trivia night, and it added to the vibe of our evening. You’ll have to pay to park or find street parking. Location is great in 12S! One issue we had was small children were allowed to stay after 8PM, and they were screaming going down the slide which was mildly annoying at times. (The menu says no small children allowed after 8PM). Prices are good for the food, but the drinks could probably be better for the price. All in all a great experience and we will be back!

This is a unique place with a fun slide in the middle of the bar. We just stopped here for a quick snack. They were out of several appetizers, which was disappointing. The pretzel was the favorite. The brussel sprouts were good, but heavy because they were deep fried.

Google
was served Raw chicken tenders… and over charged on happy hour drinks service was also slow at the bar inside took forever to get a drink even though the bar was empty. Also did not have good drink consistently me and my friends all ordered the same drink (blueberry martini) and they all were different. The bartender in the front (in cheetah shirt) was horrible. Wish my experience was better very fun atmosphere. Will not be back.

Loved High Tea here. Service was snappy and sweet, like your favorite cousin who knows how to throw a bridal shower. The staff made us feel welcome but didn’t hover, which I appreciate when I’m trying to spill tea while drinking it.

Drinks were fine. Service ok. Food was either (a) not as advertised or (b) just not good. Cali Chicken salad was ok but had no avocado and lacked enough dressing. Two of us had the chicken couscous salad and the couscous was old and flavorless. Maybe a spot for a drink and a fun ride down the signature slide. Food is not worth it.
