"Grab some chicken wings with the greens and mac and cheese (and a strong-a*s drink that’ll have you under the table) and you’re in for a good time at The Players Lounge. The restaurant in Congress Heights has been a community staple since the '70s and on any given night, you’ll find it packed with regulars enjoying the fantastic soul food. It’s a step back in time, with stained-glass Michelob overhead lamps, wood paneled walls and an old-school cash register. Be ready to chop it up at Wednesday night karaoke, and if you know how to act, you’ll feel at home in no time." - omnia saed, tristiana hinton

It’s a step back in time, with stained-glass Michelob overhead lamps, wood paneled walls and an old-school cash register. You’ll find most folks packed into the bar area, but there’s also extra seating in the back. I have been going here for years. It's a great place if you like oldies. Wednesday they have karaoke and they have throwback Thursday. Strong drinks! Angie is the best!

Want some wonderful “southern food?”You must go to this restaurant!! It’s a great place to call ahead and pick up your order to go. Southern food like your grandma makes. Great potato salad, corn bread, fried fish, and my favorite, fried chicken wings. You name it, they’ve got it!! Can’t find it? It’s Located across from the St. Elizabeths East Redevelopment in Ward 8.

Ordered the 4piece fried chicken with candied yams and macaroni and cheese, everything was good EXCEPPPPPT the Mac and cheese, honestly, the noodles wayyyy over cooked, slimy and mashed texture. Then the roux alone for the Mac and cheese is like a god damn gravy and it lacks taste like throw the whole pan over and get a new recipe cause yea… & I was that upset and let down I had to write my first review. Cause who in your kitchen tasted this Mac and cheese and still decided to sell it, pls fire that person immediately…. I will be returning for the fried chicken, and fried chicken onlyyyyyyy, good prices

The food is always on point especially when the older hostess who I believe may be an owner. And the other older lady is super nice as well who takes orders. The middle age server / bartender is awesome when she in the mood she like your aunty that if she not in the mood you know to feed lightly but she good peoples over all.my issue today is with this Mix players can’t be touched on the soulful cooking provided but the tea was a disgrace coming from a DC favorite. I will be looking for an improvement this is unacceptable.

Great food, great service, great prices! My group of 9 came here to eat for lunch and we loved the food soooo much. It was also such a great price! We’re not from around the area, and we were pleasantly delighted by these two wonderful women who served us and the service they provided us. We’ll come back when we’re in the area.

We go there for the macaroni and tuna salad and it's great each time!!! We've tried other foods which were pretty good too but that macaroni and tuna salad is a definite hit! The staff is always friendly and professional which makes the atmosphere great!

Liver and onions was meh, tasted either like leftovers or overcooked. Gravy was good though. Rice was mushy, greens were nasty and greasy and on the sweet side and cornbread dry. Cake as well. Cake icing was hard as if it's over a week old

Everything was poorly seasoned/cooked except the cornbread. Turkey wings had no taste/seasoning.
