Playful Minds

This is a wonderful toy store with interactive and helpful staff. It is my go to everytime I visit Toronto and want to treat my little nieces. Thanks Playful Minds for helping an Aunt stay current and get gifts that brings smiles every time. I appreciate your help and understanding of what's current in the 4-7 year old world!

This is a great place to get gift ideas for children of all ages. The owner and staff helped us pick out excellent gifts for our grandchildren. They even wrapped them for us at no extra cost.

I bought a gift for a friend from this store. The delivery was very fast, and the toy was beautifully wrapped. It was a very pleasant shopping experience.

The store is designed in a very unique and cute way. Tiny hallways, beautiful lights, and toys in every place you look at. The variety this place had was beyond me. There were legos, books, board games, mugs, tiny figures, and much more. The atmosphere is pretty nice and calming and the lady at the cashier spot was quite nice in our limited interaction since I didnt buy anything. I was browsing all the toys and figures and I was thinking of buying something until I looked at the prices listed for the items. All the items were waayyy overpriced and it just didnt make sense to me to pay so much money for a small souvenir of some kind. All in all, it was a fun experience just browsing the store and seeing all the unique and cute toys they had.

Great experience ordering online and picking up in store. And the place is clearly run with a lot of love ❤️

I just wanted to add this to try and offset the very few negative reviews on here because i know that this is a great store. I have grown up with this toy store, and it was always a joy whenever my mom would tell me I could go and get Pokémon cards or a new Lego set for example, the excitement was through the roof. To me when I was younger and even now, walking through that door feels like being transported to a magical land of every kids dreams. It is a wonderful place and the staff are very kind as well. A cozy toy store, packed with both popular and unique items (including candy!) Add a welcoming staff and you get a local shop worthy of support. I was looking for rare Hot Wheels cars and was directed to a different brand. More larger and unique cars based from real life, I had to get them. Kids love 'em as well as I, a man-child that is very particular in my choices. I wrote a Google review about another local toy shop in Toronto that I won't name here. Pleasantly surprised when I entered Playful Minds. Both shops are like night and day... Playful Minds is the bright, sunny, happy place, ideal to bring your kids to. While the other, "Terminally Ill Toy Store, Queen of the West" is the dark, deathly night where trolls follow you around without a peep, hoping for a reason to chase you away ...or eat your children, I'm still not sure what their deal is. I will definitely shop here again and suggest my family and friends to do so as well, maybe even people I don't like very much.

They have a huge variety of fun stuff and the staff are really helpful and accommodating. I always find unique things that the kids in my life always love.

This is a small little toy shop, indeed not a lot of room! (agreeing with first reviewer) Their Thomas the Train Sets selection is so much better than Toys R Us!! They have nicer WOODEN track sets! They also have a Toys Story lego that I've never seen before at the Toys R Us near me :(! There's a great selection of board games! Stuff that aren't too childish and that I cannot name at the top of my head... I actually didn't recognized a lot of those! Prices are? Reasonable. Average. Not crazy pricey. Service? She asked if we needed help, or if there's anything we're looking for... :) thank you thank you.

A local toy store that is friendly and helpful. Always buying gifts there. The staff knows their crowd and helps with choosing the right gift. prices may be more than walmart but this is one store that is really worth the couple of bucks difference. If you live in the area you should shop here and support the community.

Staff is super helpful. They have an amazing selection crammed in a small store, and I never fail to find something appropriate for last minute birthday party invitations. They do wrapping as well.

QUICK!!! You need to get a toy...a good toy...a funky toy...maybe a cheap one...maybe an expensive one to show the people with kids who invited you to a party that you are a thoughtful, hip, aware, generous, practical (?) friend/relative/godparent/uncle/aunt/strange-business-relation-of-mommy's. You need to get to Playful Minds. This is a small store, that packs in a surprising variety of thoughtfully selected, current merchandise in a wide price range, on it's tall, stuffed shelves. There isn't a lot of room to move in here, so the big stroller is really not going to work too well, so if that is your containment strategy for stopping your kids from taking things off the shelf...you better pick a new one, as it's likely going to have to be left outside. Thankfully they have a Thomas play table to occupy kids while you shop...and unfortunately, have a large selection of "penny toys" at pint-sized customer eye-level that you will likely have to buy to avoid the spoiled-kid meltdowns that ensue following you buying something current, hip and funky for "that other kid that I don't really like that much". This is a much better value shopping experience than going to the Big Box toy stores, and at a fun neighourhood location. You might not find the newly released limited edition Lego set here, but you'll find something good.

small store brimming with toys. the staff is great at recommending age-appropriate toys for kids of all ages. wide range of toys, books and brands. they don't have every toy out there but carry the big lines. the best part is that the staff is so knowledgeable and the prices are very reasonable. too bad the store doesn't have a better website. it would be nice to have the option of online registries and buying online. i recommend this store for people who need presents for their kids or others.

Excellent service and selection. Small location, but big in helping customers plus they wrapped gift on the spot for me.

A fantastic neighborhood toy-store where you could go in when you have no idea what to get, and ask for "something for a 7 year old boy" or "something for a princess-loving girl" and get the perfect item everytime. The owner is very knowledgeable on the latest educational, fun, safe, and/or imaginative games, books and toys. Books cater to different ethnicities and family arrangements and range from infant to upper-grade levels. Highly recommend this store - you won't be disappointed.
