I went there to pick up one item, a block of arches hot-pressed watercolour paper. I was left standing as the two assistants spent all their time having a cozy chat about oilt painting with another customer. I waited for a bit, and then, realizing they were literally chatting like they were having coffee as opposed to ringing up the customer, asked to be rung up. I was told, "I'm ringing her up." and the assistant went back to her cozy chat about how oil painting feels so natural.
Second assistant also snarked at me that they were ringing up the first customer, and got into the merits of oil painting as well. Listen, if you're actually selling a product, fine. But when it's just chit-chat and, oh, there are *2* of you, one person can ring *me* up.
Second assistant saw me glance at second cash register and came over. Everything was terse and stiff with her, she snarked I was spelling my name too fast. So, I spelt it out slowly, using state names to clarify the letters, even when she was getting miffed I was finishing the whole spelling (hey, I'm the customer, and I was there to buy something, not get snapped at for expecting service).
I won't go back unless there's nowhere else, or I need something in a hurry they have that Michael's doesn't and I can't wait for a shipment. Luckily, that's not likely to be often.
