If it's a Mexican food you're craving, then Plaza Azteca is the place to go. The dishes are generous in size and delicious. The atmosphere is very pleasant and the staff is attentive. One of our favorite dishes is the fajitas for two. You can't beat this dish. The portion and price will definitely have you coming back. Im not sure about pick up since we enjoy the dining experience. Dine In is more relaxed, and we didn't feel rushed any of the time we visited this Mexican restaurant. Check it out for your self. Let me know what you think.

Service: I placed a To Go order with the establishment and was told my meal would be ready at 7:10 pm. I got there a little later than that. After giving my first and last name, they said my food was still cooking. I asked 4 different staff members about my order. Low and behold it was up front the whole time. The person with me even agreed that I gave my full name. So I was there for about 20 minutes and by the time I got the food home, it was cold. Staff members need to ask for the first and last name. Maybe even ask again to be sure. I gave both and sat around for nothing. I was more upset that I stared at the bags myself for 20 minutes and the employees kept telling me my food was still cooking. No one even apologized and they were dismissive. Food: To top it off my fiancé found half a toothpick in his meal! He bit into it and it came out of his mouth in wooden slivers. Mine was ok, but there was a giant piece of chicken skin at the bottom of my tray. The beans and rice had no flavor. The only decent thing we ordered was the salsa. I understand that restaurants get busy (and we left a generous tip on the To Go order), but please give a bit more service to everyone. Whether we're eating there, or grabbing something to carryout. We won't be back anytime soon.

Nice place with smiling people. Food was good and portions were generous. Nicely appointed space with indoor and outdoor seating.

El Jefe Lunch Enchiladas .. Come Through with the Carne Asada!!! So tender and flavorful . I wasn't mad at the grilled onions at all 😍

Google
Mixed bag here: the food was good for generic Mexican food if not overly flavorful. The “table side guacamole” was made at some table but definitely not ours, though it did taste relatively fresh. Excellent service with a friendly waitress. That said, the restaurant is tired with ripped booths, non-functional TVs at the booths (?) and mints at the host stand with a warning to only take one per customer. One wonders what else they’re skimping on if the mints are a precious commodity. Price was reasonable and about what you would expect to pay for this level of food and experience.

Google
This was a really nice place. We sat and ate at the bar. Ordered fajitas for two at lunch time and had enough leftovers to take for another meal for two. The margarita was big and good! They have several TV's around the bar and probably would switch to a game/show if asked.

Google
Updates They overcharged me for extra tortilla. It says 3 on my receipt and I only got 2. When i asked the server, she didn't seem to understand my question. Also, the portions got very small. It's amazing. Our server, Vanessa, was very kind and attentive. Food was good too. Lunch special is such a deal. Nothing above like 11 dollars, the portions are great too. I ordered Steak fajita (11dollars), and beef quasadila with two beef tacos (8.5 dollara). So great! Chips and salsa were very yum yum too. Easy to park on street and they also have parking garage.

Google
The food was alright but when paying the bill they charged me almost double of what I was supposed to pay. It seems as this was not a mistake and it was purposeful since I am a kid going to a restaurant with my friends and they think they can take advantage of me and make me pay more. When I brought up this issue to the front desk, she was very short with me and did not give me a clear solution. I ended up waiting at the front for a while and the manager came to me saying “Lady give me your card” very rudely. I told her I only have apple pay and she continued to ask for my card. They should have given me my money back and not have made me pay for the meal due to this awful experience, but they did not and still made me pay. I am never going back.

Yelp
Not a fan of Mexican food, but this place may have turned me around. Had an Azteca salad for lunch and couldn't finish! Huge portions and not your typical Mexican poop on a plate. Fast service and reasonable prices.

Jeff H.

Yelp
Wife and I had dinner there on 3/29/2024. She had the Enchiladas El Jefe, Carne asada, grilled corn, onions. They were tasty but the meat was bland and overcooked. The queso fresco was so so. The side of rice was very good. I had the fried chicken combo. It was a fried chicken burrito and a fried chicken flaunta. To be clear, it's not fried chicken inside, the who item is fried. The chicken in both entrees was tender but lacked flavor. The queso fresco was nice and creamy but lacked any real flavor. The refried beans were bland. The side of rice was the best tasting item on my plate. Over the dish lacked seasoning and flavor. For a Mexican theme restaurant, our dishes lacked seasoning and flavor. The chips and salsa were average, nothing special. Our server was very attentive. When the side, the rice, is the best part of the meal, something is wrong.

Yelp
My mom picked Plaza Azteca for her Birthday dinner as it is one of her favorite restaurants. I have to say service was phenomenal! There was a minor issue with my meal but our waiter remedied the issue quickly. Not only that but he genuinely apologized multiple times. We all enjoyed our meals and they even gave my mom a piece of tres leche and sang happy birthday to her. They made the evening truly special for all of us. Oh ! and they also gave us a discount for the hiccup with my meal. Such a great experience! Highly recommend!.

Yelp
Been here several times over the past couple years. Recently the food has been been a hit or miss. The most recent dish I had is the Chimichanga Texana. The last one I had was a tad bit too salty for my taste. The salsa was also a tad bit too salty for my taste. The service has also recently been a hit or a miss. They get quite busy on Friday nights and Saturday nights. But the most recent visit was on a Wednesday night. I'm usually pretty patient with the wait staff check-ins after I get my food; my only complaint is I wait a little quite a bit for a drink refill. I'm usually pretty parched by the time they come around to check and give me a refill. Staff are pretty nice. Serving portions are pretty decent. They have a pretty chill vibe: good for families, good for friends, and good for chill date nights. They get dishes out from the kitchen in pretty good time even when they're busy.

Devon M.

Yelp
I've been here multiple times with my family. It's usually a decent spot. Nothing here has ever made me say "Wow!" The food and drinks are always just decent. The guacamole is probably the best thing here I've had but it can vary since they make it fresh. So our first one wasn't salty enough and then the second one was better. I've had multiple different things from tacos to salads and they're okay. I had a chicken fajita salad on this most recent visit and it was pretty straight forward. Just lettuce, pico, avocado, cucumbers, cheese, chicken and some Italian dressing. Didn't really remind me of a fajita at all. Would have expected maybe some bell peppers and onions. Maybe a different kind of dressing. As far as drinks go, I've had the Mexican mule off the drink menu before and it wasn't too bad. Basically a mule with tequila instead of vodka. The large beer is quite literally a large beer lol. 34 oz to be exact so just know that if you order it. The service here is always all over the place. A typical visit will look something like: see your server 6 times before you're ready to order. Then you don't see them for 15 mins once you are ready. Then you don't see them again until you're halfway through a meal. It can definitely take a while to get things too. Drinks sometimes take as long as entrees to come out. Staff are friendly, just sometimes not quick. The ambiance is a typical Mexican food style restaurant. If you've been in something like an On the Border or something like that then you'll know what you're walking into basically. They're located in the Village at Leesburg so there's ample free parking available. This restaurant is definitely not the best in Leesburg if you're looking for Mexican food. But if you want something while you're already in the Village or because it is close to home, then give it a shot.

Hailey L.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised by this place! This is located in a place like a town center with various restaurants&stores in the ground floor and residential units in upper floors, so there are plenty of free parking spots. Food was also very generous & festive. Portion is more than enough to fill your belly, and flavor is also amazing. It could be a bit strong for some, but balance was good. I tried lunch Birria Taco and lunch burrito, and both were satisfying considering their prices. It was such a steal! They also give chips&salsa as a complementary that are pretty good Service was also very fast!

David B.

Yelp
Basic Mexican food, nice atmosphere and staff mean well. The food can be inconsistent, but has been improving, so they're working on it. Price is about $25/person. Good for groups. Wheelchair access is a bit complicated if you park across the street.

John J.

Yelp
So it's a typical Mexican joint. Menu had everything you'd expect.. If you like margaritas, cerveza's and eating tacos this place is for you. Had the dinner Birria tacos they were pretty tasty. I had fun ... good times.

Liz L.

Yelp
We stumbled upon this place trying to satisfy our Mexican food cravings. The service was great at Plaza Azteca. I ordered the Carne Asada plate and I was not disappointed! The steak was amazing and the beans and rice on the side were delicious! My girlfriend got the Birria tacos and this being her first time trying them she said they were delicious. Will definitely be coming back here more often!

Heather R.

Yelp
Food was delicious - large portion sizes. Also very cheaply priced considering the quality/portion size. Not terribly busy but it was a thursday night. Large menu with lots of choices. Live music was a little loud for my taste (apparently I'm 34 going on 85). Waiter couldve been better about keeping drinks filled. Overall good experience and will definitely return.

Christine H.

Yelp
Heard some good things about this place. Unfortunately, they don't take reservations or do call ahead. The wait on a Saturday night around 7pm ended up being around 25 minutes. Started off with chips and salsa. Salsa was good, but chips could use some salt. Beef and cheese empanadas appetizer was so good! Wanted to order a 2nd one, but had to save room for main entree. I was excited about steak enchiladas which is not common. You see beef, pork, chicken etc, but I don't think I've ever seen steak. It was also filled with corn and onions. Unfortunately, I thought it was just okay. Maybe it needed cheese or something and it only comes with rice. I had to add a side of beans. The pescado entree was probably the favorite of the night. The fish was mild topped with shrimp, spinach and a white wine sauce. Scrumptious! Who knew a fish dish would be so good at a Mexican restaurant. Capped the meal with a slice of tres leches. Super moist and not overly sweet. The whipped frosting was light.

Geena P.

Yelp
Employees are nice. Food was "okay". I've had better carne asada. It was just a ribeye with a side of regular rice and beans. Nothing too special. We wanted to give this place a try. Went on a Thursday evening. Not much of a crowd. The salsa that was served with the chips were also "okay".

Vanessa S.

Yelp
Today I change my perspective on this place. I had tried this restaurant for lunch and dinner around four times and I was very disappointed. The food was dry, too salty... but today I had a great experience. I had to go, since my best friend was playing live music. I decided to order food, and it was surprisingly good. Like very good. I also had a margarita which is also very good. Customer Service was outstanding. This place has made a turn for the good and I now recommend it... other people in our party felt the same way. Prices are reasonable and you have many choices, Mexican style food.

Anita T.

Yelp
Came here with friends and had a great time--but the restaurant itself wasn't all that. Flavors weren't super authentic and not really made with care. It's more like a chain restaurant. My soup was pretty bland. They skimp on the shrimp (extra with my salad). My friends had to send back their piba coladas as they were really subpar. With all the really good Mexican in NOVA, I wouldn't come here if I wanted authentic. But it's in the Villages at Leesburg and therefore convenient to shopping, movies etc.

Yelp
My DD, Hubs and I met my Bro, SIL and mom here for dinner on a Saturday night. It was moderately busy and we got drinks while we waited for my Bro, SIL and mom. Hubs and I got margaritas - salt/rocks of course. They were decent. Once everyone was there we ordered table side guacamole. We just got a bowl of guacamole. I thought maybe they weren't doing the table side then, but saw the guacamole cart come out later that night. It turns out, that was the start of a series problems that stemmed from a significant language barrier. I ordered tacos in 3s from a menu that appeared to read that you could order three different kinds in one set of 3 tacos. So I ordered fried fish, shrimp and grilled fish taco. Server said ok. DD and Bro ordered chicken/streak fajitas, SIL got enchiladas and mom got a chimichanga. Bro ordered a margarita and got a large though the server didn't ask what size. Btw-- sizes are medium and large? The server came back about ten minutes later and said I couldn't do three different tacos. I said ok, I would do the fried fish. He then said well... struggled to explain the problem with that. Finally he said, He couldn't explain and would go ask someone to help explain. He didn't come back until he had food in hand, which took a while. We weren't in a hurry, so we didn't think to much of it. When the food came, it was clear that were problems. There were twice as many dishes as people at the table. There were two orders of everything. The other server who was helping pass out food was visibly confused when everyone had their food and there were still 6 more dishes that needed homes. Fish tacos were dry inside and the corn tortillas had clearly been lying around a while. Big thumbs down. It was supposed to come with rice and beans, but that didn't happen. Fajitas were ok. Mom and SIL liked their dishes. I might go back, to try something else, but will definitely ask more questions and ensure our server clearly understands our order.

Tim P.

Yelp
One of the most beautifully decorated restaurants. We really enjoyed the food. Service was a little lacking and disappointing to be honest. Restrooms were clean. Parking garage a block away.

Jeff J.

Yelp
I feel like I'm being generous with this rating, but I'm a nice guy so, you know, there it is. Went to Plaza Azteca in Leesburg for dinner around 5:30pm. We decided to try it because of the menu vegan options. The place was lively but I wouldn't call it crowded. We were seated right away. A few minutes ticked by slowly. Then a smiling waiter appeared, dropped off some tortilla chips and salsa, informed us our waiter would be with us soon, and vanished. A few minutes later, and I'm being literal, our waiter stopped by to get our drinks order. He seemed unhappy...surly...resentful...not sure exactly. He then left and (a few minutes later) returned, plunked them down on the end of the table and asked for our order. I chose the vegan tacos, my wife chose the vegetarian enchiladas, and my sister chose Carne Asada, cooked medium. Our chips long depleted, and several many long extended minutes later our food finally arrived. Thankfully brought by a cheerful helper. Vegetarian Enchiladas - the serving size was good; three in total, bean, spinach, cheese, side of rice. The enchiladas were covered in a thick cheese sauce (too much cheese). The flavor wasn't there. The spinach was quite salty. Vegan Tacos - there were three double corn tortilla tacos, with vegan soy meat bits and some kind of pico or something. The soy meat begged for seasoning, it was surprisingly bland. Carne Asada - well presented, looked good. When the steak was cut into it revealed a rare instead of medium, so it had to go back. That meant waiting for our waiter to do another pass. When asked to see if they could grill it another minute or so he seemed almost hesitant, like trying to decide if he was really cut out to be a waiter. He did return with it several...minutes...later and it seemed fine. [Side note: with the attitude he gave I personally would not have eaten it for fear of one of those horror stories being replicated.] When we were finished we waited for around ten minutes before we saw him again and asked for the bill. It turned out to be more pricey than I felt it was worth, but we tipped well since we made an assumption that he might be covering a larger area than normal and maybe as just rushed off his feet. The two stars are meant to convey that the dinner was edible and the decorative festive atmosphere is fun. Nothing more. For what it's worth we won't return given the bland food and lack of service. If you want to see what a really dynamic and delicious Mexican restaurant is like try Plaza Mexico in Frederick Maryland! Disclaimers: since my wife and my orders were vegan / vegetarian it is quite possible their regular food is good and they just don't know how to do vegan well. Also we don't drink alcohol so we understand that maybe those who do might have a better experience than ours. Worth a try!

Kristin M.

Yelp
This is literally the worst restaurant I've ever eaten at. Our server was awful and would disappear for 20-30 min at a time. To start off the meal, I almost swallowed a chicken bone that was mixed in with the OMG nachos... Nice! Server didn't refill drinks or check on us until halfway through the meal; she also had a bad attitude the entire time and blamed everything on the kitchen. Is the kitchen staff responsible for refills, bringing out things you forgot, checking on tables, etc? The food was pretty bad all around. After waiting for our check, the server came back to take it and said she had to wait 5 min because the system was down. Then the manger came by, who also had a bad attitude, and told us we could write down our credit card information or return tomorrow to pay. No way am I writing down my credit card info to be handled by these clowns. Luckily we had some cash because we'll never be returning. The tables that all walked out after us were all furious and it really was just a terrible experience for everyone. Stay away!

Natalie D.

Yelp
I am super late putting this review.. but we visited Virginia last month for my cousin's 50th birthday and had a blast at this place. My cousins had taken over the left side where the bar is located. The Food... SOOOO GOOD! Their empanadas, taquitos, chips n salsa and guac, etc were delicious. Last but not least, I had to write a special message about Tania Gomez. She was so great to us! Very attentive and caretaking. I don't live there but if I did, she'd definitely be a reason I would come back. Hard to get service like that these days!

Mike B.

Yelp
Again excellent service good service. The only place for great Mexican food on a consistent basis.

Tiah T.

Yelp
Plaza Azteca is my favorite restaurant in terms of Mexican food coming from Southern VA. I realized we had a location in NoVA and had to try it. The food was just as good as I remembered it to be! The staff was super friendly, the place was very clean and we were able to get all of her food fast. We ended up ordering more food than we normally would to take home because we love their food so much! This location is smaller and in a more busy and prominent area. We literally grabbed great good and outside of leaving you can get dessert, shop, or do anything else that was on your agenda for that day. Parking can be a little tight but for the area it's pretty normal. Would recommend going their lunch special for great deals!

Enrique F.

Yelp
Great food and service. Parking was easy and nearby. Good music and well lighted. I will go back here and recommend this to my family and friends.

Meg S.

Yelp
I can't say anything about the other locations, but this location is hands-down, the best Mexican food you'll find in Loudoun County. The quality of food is way more than you expect from a local restaurant. The empanadas are delicious, the taquitos are so crispy and juicy, the salsa is perfection, because it's spicy, but not too spicy. I have received delivery and dined in several times. I have tried things I normally wouldn't order and been pleased I went out of my comfort zone. And the drinks?? Do yourself a favor and order whatever the featured drink is. Rosa is the bartender and she nails it every time.

Hannah P.

Yelp
This place has been my family's go-to for Mexican food since they opened. It's very casual, with great food and even better service and atmosphere. The Tacos are very tasty, as are the margaritas. Caesar is the absolute best server around - ask for him!

Katie S.

Yelp
Our waitress was lovely. Came in during lunch and was quickly seated and order taken. Family friendly atmosphere. I got the enchiladas supreme and beef and cheese were definitely the most flavorful, the chicken and shredded beef to me seemed to be a bit bland. Husband got the carnitas and the pork was definitely tasty! Avocado sauce on it was excellent.

Marisa L.

Yelp
We haven't eaten here in a long time so we decided to give it another try. We were so pleased with our meals! I don't remember what we ordered (it's been a few weeks) but everything was cooked well and the portion sizes were very good. The server was very attentive and the restaurant itself was clean. We will return more often!

Matt M.

Yelp
Great menu. Friendly staff. I got the carnitas dinner. Excellent. My friend got enchiladas. Thoroughly enjoyed. I usually rate Mexican restaurants by the chips and salsa and margaritas but didn't have margaritas. Chips and salsa were good. Will definitely go back though!

Aimee F.

Yelp
This place is a pretty decent place. The staff are nice and the atmosphere isn't bad (although it feels a little weird that parts of it is almost like a sports bar and also a Mexican restaurant at the same time lol). The food is good. I would go here again.

Ashley F.

Yelp
Pretty good little place for your standard Mexican food items. We ordered the large size of the cheese dip and it was MASSIVE.. definitely could have gone with the small and we love queso! I have steak fajitas and they were good too. Probably wouldn't recommend the house margarita as it tasted more like the standard premixed juice. The service was prompt and friendly.

Frances S.

Yelp
Food was great I had the steak with chorizos and rice. My husband had the cheese and beans burritos. Vanessa great server we was there October 2, 2022 and we really enjoyed ourselves. My brother in law brought me Tequila Clase Azul in a beautiful liquor bottle blue and white. Look good on my bar. Tequila was great too. Really enjoyed this restaurant and the food.

Shelby T.

Yelp
Awesome value, portions, quality, value... Fun night (karaoke, trivia, etc), happy hour can't be beat. Check them out!

Catherine P.

Yelp
Posting this review is almost painful but Plaza Azteca USED to be the hot spot in Leesburg. They would serve large drinks for a low price. While the quality of the drinks hasn't changed the prices have jumped and the service sucks. The food was good at one point but hasn't been for years so I always order something cheap to soak up the liquor. I only go here for happy hour and even that is I hope this place goes back to serving premiere food and drinks w/attentive waiters that don't hate their job

Keoki S.

Yelp
Gordon Ramsey are you hiding around the corner at this place? I use to come here years ago, it was always busy and the food and service was great. Now it's just waiting it's turn on Kitchen Nightmare. It was empty compared to how it use to be when we walked in. It took about 10 minutes for someone to greet us and take to our table in the relatively empty restaurant. The steak fajitas were awful! Really the steak was hammered, unseasoned and tasted like it was boiled as well. Both my self and my daughter order this for our meals and we both made a single taco and were like no thanks. My wife and friend had enchiladas and they were just okay. My youngest order the chicken strips and fries from the kids menu. The chicken had a freezer burn taste to them. So she had fries and ketchup for dinner. The server could tell we were unhappy but did nothing about it. I'm sure that he is use to these kind of responses from customers. Fingers crossed Gordon shows up soon and turns this place around so we can come back again. Until then I would save your money and avoid this place.

Ang K.

Yelp
Open patio seating limited to about 7 different sized tables. Really good service - server was very nice and attentive. I think they only have different margaritas and beers available right now. Big menu with many good options. Salsa was a little salty but the queso was really good. My burrito was huge and pretty good. They are using plastic cups and silverware right now which makes me feel better about eating out during the pandemic. First time eating at a restaurant in months and it felt good, somewhat normal, and safe. All staff wore masks and was very thorough in cleaning tables.

Gurleen M.

Yelp
We came here on a Wednesday and got outside seating for 6 people. The service was very good. Waiter was very nice. For appetizers we ordered empanadas, taquitos, and guacamole dip. There chips and salsa were on point. Really loved the guacamole and the empanadas. I will just come back for the empanadas because they were that good. I got 3 chicken tacos. They were good but I like my taco tortilla to be flour tortillas. For drinks, I would recommend the lime margarita. Spicy margarita has just chillies floating in it which was not liked by one of us.

Jake S.

Yelp
This is a solid, consistent place. Extensive menu of traditional favorites. I'm partial to the table side guacamole and the chimichanga dinner ( beef or chicken are both good ) drinks are decent. It's not the "OMG" kind of place that you'll remember but satisfying for sure

Joshua D.

Yelp
Plaza Azteca is the best Mexican food hands down in the area. Loooooove their seasoned beef, you just can't beat it. Really sad the Sterling location closed during COVID so we rarely come out to the Leesburg one, but it's enjoyable every time. The inside the restaurant experience unfortunately is just not as good as the old Sterling one was.

Rahul A.

Yelp
Was it discrimination or sheer callousness? We wait for 30 mins to get to our table, get seated, and order the drinks and food. The drinks come in 15 minutes. We request the server to get our order quickly (as we had ordered only 2 entrees) and he said it is coming...We waited for another 20 minutes and then requested him again and he pointed to the kitchen saying the order would be there soon...another 15 minutes and we requested the lady at the reception to look into it. She never came back to us! We requested our server again and he pointed to the kitchen...All this time the folks who came much later were getting their food and that made us more hungry and in fact uncomfortable at the same time. My daughter was coming back after a 3-hour hectic skating practice and was falling asleep. Again reminded the server every 10 mins and then we were really feeling embarrassed. Finally, I went back to the reception lady and told her that we have been waiting for around 75 mins now and the food is not there. She went to the kitchen and came back with our server...Can you imagine what he said - can you give your order again - I forgot to place the order in the kitchen!!!!!!! Is this acceptable? After 6 reminders and 75 mins wait the server and the receptionist come back asking for what we have ordered??? This is the worst treatment and experience ever...The server was not even apologetic and walked away when we said that we would not eat there and grabbed our coats...

Jill M.

Yelp
I just moved into town and love this place. Living in the southwest for several years made me a Mexican food snob, this place will not let you down! Killer chimichangas!

Lindsay M.

Yelp
Their chips were hot & the salsa was really good! It had the right amount of thickness and heat to it. We ordered the guacamole and it was awesome - mixed with pico de Gallo, also with the right amount of salt - I kept eating it even after my fajitas lol. I'm still full this morning. Our waitress (I feel so bad I can't remember her name) was so attentive & brought us refills & more chips/salsa right away. We loved our meals, portions were plenty and then some. This will be definitely be our Leesburg spot for Mexican food!

Stephanie G.

Yelp
Food is fine but they don't list drink prices and it's hard to find out. We ordered skinny margaritas and declined the upgrade from rail liquor. Tasted like very little liquor. Bill came In at $17.25 each. We had pricing issues with some of the menu items as well. Left feeling ripped off.

Ann C.

Yelp
We ordered takeout and the chicken and cheese quesadillas had potatoes and carrots - not just shavings but chunks. Needless to say my picky eater would not touch it. My other son had had enchiladas that had chunks of carrots. Very strange - we eat Mexican frequently but we have never seen carrots and potatoes included.

Yelp
We got there and no one was at the hostess station. The place wasn't packed. Made eye contact with a waitress who quickly turned the other way. We waited though because we were hungry. Finally we get seated. Takes forever to come take our order or get our waters. Waitress gets my order wrong. I don't say anything because I don't want them to spit in my reorder lol. Another waitress totally spills water all over the place. Waits at least 10 min to clean it up... then grabs a broom. Lol. People are tip toeing all around it so they don't slip. Our waitress barely tends to our table. Such bad service that I dont even leave a tip. What just happened?! Lol if you check the rest of my reviews, you'll see that it's not hard to get 4-5 stars outta me. Now I do miss TexMex and this didn't really make me happy but the poor, poor service is really what got me!..... The guacamole was good though, so there's your one star.

Yelp
I made a reservation online 3 weeks before the event date via Google reserve. I got a confirmation email and when I showed up at the restaurant I was told they didn't take reservations for that day. I had the email confirmations to prove otherwise. The manager didn't honor the reservation and said she would go see if she could do something to accommodate us. She never came back to let us know so we asked the hostess for an update. She said "the manager is busy, she can't help you". After we'd been there for 30 min she says we should put our name down on the wait list (maybe they should've done that when we first got there). We were told it was a 1-hour wait. Terrible service! Awful management. We've gone to Plaza Azteca before and the food was good enough. We won't be going back.

Yelp
Food was ok except for the hair I found in my burrito. We had takeout so I couldn't really take it back.

Yelp
Hmm. I'm torn writing this. I did takeout and got the fajita taco salad.. the problem is, it isn't much of a "salad". I was expecting some greens in here. It's just beans, a ton of steak, a tiny bit of shredded lettuce and sour cream. It tasted fine, it just wasn't a salad at at all...

Yelp
I gave this chain one more try with the same results. I'm a Foodie and lived in Texas for 5.5 years besides my travels to Mexico and Southern California I have had some exposure to good Mexican food. Especially on the Riverwalk in San Antonio and Cozumel. I ate at this location today and order a simple Taco Salad. The waitress was nice and greeted me with chips and salsa and asked for my drink order which was Sweet Tea and it was very good. The Salsa that came my chips, I would compare to cilantro ketchup. Very disappointing. My Taco Salad was so, so. I could have made better Taco Salad with an El Chico's Taco Kit from Wegmans. The shell was the best part of the taco salad. It had canned refried beans as a base with a fist full of ground beef, a sprinkling of tomato covered with lettuce. The winners today were my waitress, Ingrid, the Sweet Tea and taco salad shell. If you like Taco Bell you will like the food here.

Yelp
I ordered the nacho Supreme which comes with beef or chicken. I asked for chorizo instead and they gladly made the substitution. I picked up my order and was greeted the most lovely welcome and smiles. The nachos were perfection. They were built properly so you get a mouthful of everything without ingredients falling off or getting a totally naked totlrtilla chip. Speaking of chips, they are thick and substantial so they don't get soggy and wet. And just incase you can't eat the substantial portion inane sitting, they give tou a complementary bag of tortillas for leftovers. I was so pressed I am returning today for the same order!

Yelp
I've always loved their food and it was good this time too, but the atmosphere was awful tonight. They had live music and it was so loud we could not hold a conversation at the table and we weren't even on the side of the restaurant where they were. I'm not against the music - just not so loud during dinner hours to the point you can't talk at the table.

Yelp
Plaza Azteca is A-OK. No big complaints and my family and I have gone back there multiple times. I grew up in San Diego, and my grandparents are from New Mexico, so I'm always looking for good Mexican food. The food here at Plaza Azteca is pretty good. Not great, but there's no real stand-out best-Mexican place that I've found yet in NOVA. So for the time being, Plaza Azteca will do. The atmosphere is like many stero-typical Tex-Mex style restaurants. The service isn't bad, but it lacks enthusiasm. The servers just don't seem happy to be there. Again, not rude, not bad, just not warm and friendly either. So like I wrote at the beginning of this review, Plaza Azteca is A-OK and my family and I will continue going back there to eat because the food is pretty good and makes an attempt at satisfying my urge for Mexican food.
