Plaza Garibaldi Review - Queen Anne - Seattle - The Infatuation

"Plaza Garibaldi is where to go if you want to eat Mexican food and drink like it’s Saturday. You’ll find frozen margaritas in comically large goblets with cactus-shaped stems, taco shells that come in Seahawks colors, and shredded yellow cheddar on pretty much everything. This place is a lot of fun, and sometimes that’s just what you need on a weekday. Bring a group, order a combo plate full of chimichangas or verde enchiladas or pollo asado, and pretend you don’t have to get up early tomorrow." - Aimee Rizzo

Google
Very attentive staff with delicious food. I had the Los Tres Amigos and was not disappointed. Freshly cooked food and generous portions.

Google
Staple family style Mexican restaurant located in lower Queen Anne. This place is great for a quick bite to eat of a family dinner. When I went in for date night it was pretty dead so the atmosphere down. The food is good, but not great. However, I will give them credit and say that the salsa they make in house is incredible. The service in the restaurant was quick the staff were great.

Google
I'd always wanted to try this restaurant, and I was surprised to see how different it looked inside than outside. I wish they had a more inviting appearance on the outside. The food is good and it has great portions, the beverages are colorful, and they have a great service. I was not disappointed at all, and I would certainly go to again

Google
Such a great place!! Service was on point. They were packed because a show was in town but they got us in right away. The hostess noticed it was my daughter's birthday while checking her ID. She got fried ice cream and a shot! The food was AMAZING and authentic. Definitely worth trying out!!

Google
Tried Relleno Vegeteriano and queso dip and chip. Food was pretty good I never tried Relleno before so don’t have a reference but I did like the taste. The service was also fast and the vibe was laid back

Google
Great Mexican place in a spot where you wouldn't expect it. We spend a lot of time in Southern California. This is as good as any of those places. The waitress was amazing and food arrived quickly. I had chili colorado and another one in our party vegetarian tacos made with black beans. Both were excellent.

Google
Found this place in downtown Seattle. Couple of blocks from the Space Needle. Impressed with how fast the service was. Ordered what I get at every Mexican restaurant, combo fajitas. The best fajitas are always marinated. These weren't but were seasoned well with a unique flavor. The cadillac margarita was strong and the deep fried ice cream was nice and crunchy. Overall a very good experience. Will be back to Seattle next week and may try again unless I find another gem.

Google
Great Mexican restaurant with a large menu. Meet options are primarily beef, chicken, or shrimp, sadly no Al Pastor pork here, but they do have fire roasted jalapenos which pair well with just about anything on the menu. The Super Nachos on the appetizer section of the menu are a common go to dish as they are only $18 but include a absolutely massive portion, even in to go from. The bar section has 5 TVs and a large projector screen that's typically showing local sports.

Yelp
My wife and I came for dinner and were quickly seated. We snacked on the complimentary chips and salsa while we waited to order. Service was quick and the food was filling and delicious! I ordered the carne asada and my wife got the beef fajitas. We enjoyed minty fresh mojitos with our meal. The beef fajitas had a little bit of kick, which we really liked but might not be for spice-and-seasoning-sensitive folks. The restaurant was very spacious and was not too loud or quiet. Good value for your buck! Ended up leaving with leftovers!

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place but unfortunately the review is predominantly based on the food. The service was fine and the inside was comfortable and colorful with plenty of TVs if you want to watch the game. But the food was really underwhelming. The nachos tasted more like store-bought ingredients and I didn't finish them. My partner wasn't a fan of his fajitas either and felt they lacked flavor. The mango marg he had was fine but the jalapeño marg I had was too sweet and flavorless and wasn't spicy enough. We wouldn't go back probably but the food does come out fast if you're looking for that.

Yelp
Passed by this place and was always curious about how the food. I didn't enjoy to be honest. I tried 2 Enchilada plate and 2 Taco plate hard shell from the lunch menu. The service was good, we were greeted as soon as we walked in. The ambiance was decent. It was an experience!

Yelp
We had a great visit - fajitas, tacos, burritos were all delicious. The drink selection is extensive, although we opted for margaritas and beer. The service was friendly and quick, although we were there on a night without a game nearby. There are lots of tables and a nice bar area, so I'd imagine even if it were busy, you could get in relatively quickly.

Yelp
Came here as we were in the area for an event at Climate Pledge Arena. No happy hour on Sundays. Tried some ceviche, some nachos, some flautas, taco salad, chile relleno, and some drinks. We liked everything that we had. The service was good. The ambiance was relaxed. Bar area can get a little cramped. All in all, it was a decent place--not the best, but was convenient at the time.

Yelp
I'm a HUGE fan of this place. I worked around the corner since 2012 and had many work lunches here. It's also a great spot to meet up in the evening before an event at Climate Pledge ( or whatever the newest name is ). The staff doesn't have lots of changeover, and most remember you, which is always nice.

Yelp
Parking in the back! Yeyyy for not having to drive around looking for parking! The decor is ok but some of the lights by the booths are obnoxiously bright so we ended up sitting at the bar area. The waiter informed us that they close at 9 pm which I think is too early for Seattle even on a weekday. I ordered the shrimp fajita salad and the portion was HUGE! Enough for 2 people. Flavor was great! This is a solid Mexican food restaurant.

Yelp
I genuinely considered skipping this review because I feel bad dunking on these guys, I have to keep it real the food quality is pretty low here. We came during the Super Bowl because they have huge TV's in every room, this place is amazing for watching a game and is in a perfect location for pre-gaming for any events at Climate Pledge. We just weren't feeling the quality of the food, although the drinks hit the spot. Just off of one margarita alone, I was already buzzing. We like how chill the vibe was and feel it would be better for apps and drinks than for dinner dinner. You can just tell the cheese isn't the greatest, and even the nacho chips were paper-thin and stale. It was pretty bad, so we opted to have dinner somewhere else after the game because we didn't want to risk getting sick or feeling not so great after. I will say the place is immaculately clean, and the service here is top-notch. Even without good food quality, I can still see us returning to chill at the bar and have some drinks. Their menu is huge, so there's bound to be something for everyone, and honestly, if you're already tipsy, you won't even realize what the food tastes like, so it's a chill spot for a quick bite, drinks, and maybe watching a game.

Yelp
Centrally located Mexican restaurant with an extensive menu. The portions are HUGE, definitely can be shared between two people. Chips and salsa are included. A combo dinner with rice and beans and 2 enchiladas is about 20$ before tax/tip. Flavor was decent but not extremely flavorful. Service was really great, super warm and friendly and refilling the waters. This is also a large restaurant so good for big groups.
google avatar

Eddie I.

Yelp
We're a Mexican household and this is our home base for pre-gaming before Kraken games and shows at Climate Pledge Arena. It's tradition at this point. In a city where most Mexican restaurants are a little too pinky up, this no frills family owned spot is a favorite. Friendly staff, quick service, family friendly, great food, boozy margs... What more could you want?!

Yelp
Excellent! Exactly as ordered, hot when it arrived, and I craved it after I was gone. Service was great! Will be utilizing again. So yummy.

Steven M.

Yelp
The service was excellent. Food is just average. Hanging lights in the bar area are filthy, needing a vacuum to remove all the dust. Same thing in the bathrooms. Vents are covered in dust.

Yelp
So good! This is the type of Mexican food we grew up on in Southern California. We especially enjoyed the crispy, fresh chips and salsa, along with the verde salsa. Two of us shared a combination plate with tamale, enchilada, and taco; our third diner appreciated the carnitas tacos. The ladies working there were extremely kind and helpful. Service was incredibly quick. The restaurant is nicely decorated, clean and beautiful with carved wood booths. Wishing we lived in the area, because we would be in here very frequently. (Note: Yelp lists hours as opening at 12 PM; restaurant opens at 11. I requested a correction from Yelp.)

Yelp
Amazing Service! They were able to seat 10 of us immediately. Had 2 waiters filling drinks and delivering. Manager(owner) came by to check in. Food was above average and I am from New Mexico. So I eat a lot of Mexican inspired foods. The decorations and cleanliness were also excellent. Sadly forgot to get pics as the food slid down fast.

Yelp
I have been going to this restaurant for years. What keeps me coming back is the service. They have always made me feel like a valued customer and been very kind to me and my family. The waitstaff will often remember little titbits about us The food is pretty good and the ambiance is family friendly and pleasing. This is definitely my go to Mexican restaurant

Yelp
This place is the spot for all your pre game needs! Not only do they have good food here but the service is amazing! They know how to take care of you! I came in for a little pre game drink and meal. Having just a modelo espescial and the taquitos! It was a good pairing for happy hour. The taquitos weren't dry but they had good flavor! I like that they topped it with sour cream and guacamole! I'd definitely go back to order more pre storm meal! Also they followed me back on ig! So big shout out to the team at plaza

Yelp
Plaza Garibaldi is my go-to location when I'm ordering delivery and craving Mexican food. I've also visited a few times in person. The chips and salsa are really tasty. But watch out for the spice on that salsa if you're midwestern ;-) The portions are large and I really enjoy the flavor of their red enchilada/burrito sauce. Over the years I've tried their quesadillas, taquitos rancheros, burritos, so many sides of refried beans (yum!), and flavored margaritas. When ordering delivery my order is always done accurately and they don't skimp on the sides. Plaza Garibaldi's menu is large enough to please most and the food I had always been quality and tasty in my experience. Check them out.

Yelp
What a gem! We walked past this place in January after parking to see the globetrotters. The food smelled good then so we made a mental note to try it. We got tickets to see SZA last week and decided we were going to stop here to eat. We were greeted with warm smiles and laughter which immediately made me comfortable. They were closing in an hour but didn't seem to mind us coming in. We weren't rushed and got a discount for checking in on YELP. I was surprised that they weren't packed with so many people headed to the concert. We had drinks and food and the one things to note are the cream sauce! It was absolutely delicious. There is lots of space, it's not too loud, and the music is great. Definitely will visit again. I ate most of my food and I typically leave the rice and beans behind. Ate that too!

April Brianna T.

Yelp
The service was great and the food is so tasty! The meats are cooked just right and so flavorful! The sauces are wonderful and unique. The staff are very accommodating and the restaurant is festive, well decorated and clean.

Yelp
For being in Washington, the food was decent. Definitely felt it in the bathroom later. Higher prices than what's justified for food quality, but you are right next to the Space Needle so it's expected. Good chips and salsa. Adorable waiters. Service was alright. Cinco de Mayo is super slow service and busy, to be expected.

Yelp
Horrible Horrible. I went there for lunch. I had the Chicken salad. When the salad was delivered I noticed flies flying around my Salad I didn't think anything of it. I kept swatting them while my Uncle observed, as I said I didn't think much then a fly landed on top of my salad and I hit it off my salad, which salad went flying everywhere. And when my plate was taken away, no more flys. I called to speak to the Manager Lydia. I was told she comes in at 5pm. I called 15 times no answer just a voice-mail, which was full. I'm not going back, that's really disgusting. I want my money back, but was refused a refund. I wish I could've video taped it. And I'm half Hispanic. Come on now.

Dulce A.

Yelp
Nena could improve her service by addressing her attitude. We felt very rushed during our visit, as there were four of us--two males and two females. As the two males were finishing their meals, Nena approached the table without even asking if they were done and took their plate. When I was finishing my food as the last one to eat, she took my plate and, in a snarky tone, remarked, "Oh, no dejaron tip," essentially asking why we hadn't tipped yet. We had intended to tip until she made that unnecessary comment. Besides that the food was fine but the complimentary chips were stale and the salsa was very watery.

Yelp
Such an unsuspecting restaurant in downtown Seattle! I've probably walked by here so many times, not knowing what restaurant was actually inside. After a Seattle Storm game, we wanted to grab some food and stumbled upon Plaza Garibaldi. Inside is such an oasis from the busy downtown streets. It's relaxed and cozy and the service is amazing. We were seated very quickly and brought waters, chips, and salsa immediately. I had a strong margarita and a quesadilla and it was perfect. I'll definitely be back next time.
google avatar

Amanda A.

Yelp
The food was delicious! The service, despite it being insanely busy due to the concert down the road, was phenomenal. The servers kind of took turns filling our water, chips, etc and it was greatly appreciated. We REALLY enjoyed their salsa, it was pretty addictive haha. I ordered the carne asada tacos and he order mole enchiladas (I think...), we were both very pleased. The mojitos were super sweet, so that was the only thing that was eh. Fair warning, don't fill up too much on chips if you can't take your food to go haha. We made this mistake and left EXTREMELY stuffed, but quite happy.

Yelp
I'm not much of a snob when it comes to my takeout food, I normally get something pretty simple (ground beef burritos/rice and beans). But when I arrive (after notification of completed order) I was approached by 4 separate working and when I told them I had a takeout order they all disappeared and never came back. It was only a extra 10min wait but when I got my food the man handed it to me like it was his first takeout order ever and the food was cold like it was waiting for a while... Definitely a sit down place, don't order takeout.. it's a letdown
google avatar

Yelp
I see that the service has gotten better. The manager who was grumpy still remains so but the rest of the staff seems courteous and welcoming. Food is good though - I like it.
google avatar

Jonathan T.

Yelp
5 stars for availability on NYE at 8pm. The food was just okay in my opinion but they had a lot of variety to say the least! I had the albondigas which was lacking in flavor but was huge portions for 15$. Friend had the carne con chipotle which looked really good to be honest. I would go back to try more food in the future.
google avatar

Yelp
Great food love it.. the food delicious and y oil u get ample amounts. Love the chips also.

Rachel S.

Yelp
The food was delIcious! The service was fantastic, both the waitress and bartender were engaging and fun. It was Such a cute place!

Paton M.

Yelp
Food was pretty sub par. My enchiladas had little to no enchilada sauce and basically just looked like boiled chicken wrapped with a tortillas and covered with cheese. Portions were big and the salsa was pretty good. Still on the hunt for good Mexican food in Seattle
google avatar

Yelp
I have been eating at this place for over 3 years now. The food and staff is amazing. They always treated me with respect and kindness. The facility is very clean and well decorated. I totally recommend this place to have drinks and a great meal!

Yelp
Nice Mexican spot walking distance from the Space Needle. The Michelada was great in a large beer mug, but limited beer options maybe low stock. Chips & salsa were on point. Chile Verde was delicious and a large portion. Shrimp enchiladas plate was tasty. Hard pass on the nachos sloppy plate. Reasonable prices for the servings. Everything else was good. Stop by!
google avatar

Natalie W.

Yelp
I was recommended to go here by my hotel staff. It was a great recommendation. The food and drinks were good and the staff was very friendly and attentive. I ordered a strawberry daiquri and my mom got the peach marg- both were delicious. I ordered the chicken fajita's and they were seasoned perfectly and tasted great. Their rice was also very good. Chips & salsa was also very good- salsa especially. I would definitely return. It looks a little rough on the outside, but very clean inside. The staff all wore their masks correctly.
google avatar

Rafael G.

Yelp
Delicious tacos from start to finish. Very friendly and attentive staff. Tacos de al pastor were so delicious! Especially with a Modelo michelada! Loved the music and the decorations. Made me feel at home!
google avatar

Yelp
This is a good go-to spot for Happy Hour Mexican food. It's your typical filling portions/ no-frills spot with a friendly atmosphere. I got the house margarita which was pretty weak but cheap. You have to sit in the bar area for the Happy Hour so make sure you tell the hostess since we were taken to a different room and then had to move... oops. To be honest there are a lot of spots with this same quality of food that I would describe as "solid". Best part is the free chips and salsa and the large portions. We got the nachos with the shredded chicken (came with guac and sour cream). For the price it was good but I personally love grilled/ fajita chicken more as shredded chicken can be kind of tasteless (you get what you pay for). The tacos were pretty good too with the carnitas... once again solid but not spectacular.
google avatar

Phil S.

Yelp
Sat down in a booth with my 10 year old son. First thing the waitress says is "Two Margaritas?" The food is barely a step above Taco Bell. And the decor is weird and uncomfortable. Rarely in my life have a walked away from a full drink. But the margarita (one only) here was undrinkable. Nobody should be using margarita mix in 2022. Fresh limes are available year round.
google avatar

Greg O.

Yelp
Tasty Mexican place a stones throw from climate pledge arena. Mixed grill plate was especially good, large enough for two to share. Very efficient and friendly servers. Decent margaritas.

DMarie C.

Yelp
We had a nice dinner last night at Plaza Garibaldi. This is a very casual restaurant with lots of Mexican flair, which we found endearing. The servers were older and were quite pleasant. We started with a cheese quesadilla, which was very different than what we were used to in our home state of Arizona. It was still very good And came with sour cream and guacamole, which was nice. I had a bean and cheese burrito with an enchilada sauce on top of it. I have eaten a lot of bean burros in my day being a native of Arizona and this was the best one I have ever had. Husband had the chicken tacos and he enjoyed them. The only thing that fell a little flat was their Garibaldi Margarita. I did not really care for it and would probably just order another type of Margarita next time. We will definitely be going back the next time we visit Seattle. Note that there is not designated parking for this restaurant. There is a paid lot available, which was six dollars but other than that the additional lot next to the restaurant was for monthly paid parking. We just parked on the street and walked over.

Yelp
Before the pandemic shut everything down Plaza Garibaldi was a great place for lunch or a beer after work. Post-pandemic the food is still very good (would give 4 stars for food) but they have some new servers who work the lunch shift and are okay (2 stars for service) but not as friendly and helpful as the old crew I used to see: Rodolpho, Libby, Pepe, Octavio and a couple of others. The new crew of servers provide a level of service that falls into what I call the "It'll do" range. All the basics are covered but nothing else. One in particular is never very engaged....she get's you seated, gets the order, brings the food and maybe....maybe stops by afterwards to see if it's okay. Last time I was in was just past 3:00 p.m. (lunch was late that day). She gave me the lunch menu but then charged a higher price for my tostada. I'm guessing lunch prices ended at 3:00 so I paid the dinner price? She also seemed surprised when I asked for an iced tea refill. C'mon iced tea is $3.95 you could provide at least ONE refill at that price. End result was I paid $12.95 for the tostada (menu price $9.95), $3.95 for tea and $1.73 in tax. $18.63 for lunch before tip. This is the second time I've been charged other than menu price and I'm just gonna let it go because Blue Water Taco Grill is a short distance up the hill and their food (like Plaza Garibaldi's food) is pretty good.
google avatar

Erin M.

Yelp
Good food and prices. They have a mediocre house margarita. Worth going for solid Mexican food.
google avatar

Lydia L.

Yelp
Came here around 7:20pm on a weekday. Lots of tables available so we got seated right away. Free tortilla chips plus salsa, great food, huge portion, delicious steak, fast service. $15.5 per person without tax or tip, very cheap too. Would return in the future, hopefully for a happier occasion.

Brianna K.

Yelp
Food was excellent! Service was ok. Asked a woman for more salsa, when she asked if I needed anything, then she never came back. Later, I saw her again, she asked if everything was ok, I asked for more salsa again, and again, she didn't come back with any salsa. Strange. However, my server was ok and got me things if I asked. Water was empty for a while, no one noticed, so had to ask. No one came to check and see if my order was right. Thankfully it was otherwise who knows when I would've seen someone to make it right. Things like that. If service was more on point, I definitely would've given 5 stars. Regardless, food was delicious and I am likely going back today to try something else! Chips and salsa are delicious and their hot sauce is nice and spicy with great flavor! Lots of cheese on the enchiladas, just how I like them, and the chips were thin and crispy! Wish they made a queso dip or cheese crispy for an appetizer. That would be outstanding!
google avatar

Ronak S.

Yelp
Vegetarian's perspective - Every item here for vegetarians is an afterthought. The chille relleno was bland, and the corn burrito is okay. If you're a vegetarian tagging along, the ambiance will give you a great experience - the chips here are the best I've had - but the food will be mediocre. The salsa is also incredibly watery - not a great pairing for the best chips I've had.
google avatar

Lucas R.

Yelp
Don't be fooled this is not Jaliscos the restaurant that used to be here. Looks the same but it's not. Food quality has gone down hill and the margaritas are not good unless all you care about is a novelty giant margarita
google avatar

Tazeen L.

Yelp
Had a weekend Mexican craving so had delivery from DoorDash... ordered a few things which were a bit of a mixed bag so here's the breakdown: Starting with the good- - flan was great - creamy and large enough that I even had leftovers for the next day - combo plate- taco, tamale, enchilada- all the meats were well seasoned, the enchilada sauce had great depth and the rice and beans were solid - received the food early with most of it hot which was great - salsa and chips - salsa was spicy and tortilla chips were good The not so good- - meats on the combo plate were incorrect (received a shredded beef tamale instead of chicken as ordered, received chicken taco instead) - taco shell was completely falling apart - tamale masa was quite dense with a high ratio of masa to meat - guacamole appetizer showed up already brown Overall not bad, next time would try something different off the menu

Yelp
I've lived close to Plaza Garibaldi for more than a year and haven't had the chance to go. I decided this past Tuesday was the day to try it and I'm glad I did. They have a very extensive menu that is available online and there are a lot of great options to pick from. You can order for delivery or for take out and it was a super easy process. I decided to try the tacos al pastor, which which delicious! I do wish it had more sauce, but all of the salsas they provided made up for it. Their lunch special was around $8-9, came with chips and salsa, and was very well packaged. Highly recommend and would come again!

Sagar T.

Yelp
Food is always spectacular. They make super thin chips in-house that they give for free with great salsa. I eat like 2 baskets cause they are so good! Drinks are great, cheap and stiff. Great value over all. I get the Plaza special and it's super filling. Food comes out quick and is pipping hot. Great service and staff. Lively atmosphere and good music. A must visit... I go there almost every week!
google avatar

Dasha W.

Yelp
I've already left a five star but legit I am hooked on their shrimp ceviche. I order it sometimes twice a week alone with the carne asada. SO TASTY!! Fresh and the flavors are spectacular. This place never disappoints!!

Yelp
Regulars showing up several times per month, tipping 20% plus each time. Tonight we were treated like dirt. Ordered a happy hour margarita, it came half full. Shocked we said something and were told that's the happy hour margarita. I said the glass isn't even full. Do I want them to add more? Yes we want a full drink. Below is a picture after being filled. Friends joined us and their happy hour margaritas came full. Is this bad service or trying to cheat customers or prejudice or trying to skimp? You're treating your regulars like this? Shocking! Shame on you!
