EDIT: I appreciate the owner's response! We totally understand that lunch is new, and adding a gluten-free protein option would be really great. :) I will share your response with my colleagues.
Not a great place if you are gluten intolerant. My friend ordered a salad and paid 4 dollars more for a chicken cutlet, unaware that it was breaded, as most salads come with a grilled, unbreaded cutlet. She was disappointed when it came out, and gave the chicken cutlet to me to eat. I encouraged her to say something to the man at the counter (who I believe was the owner), but she didn't want to, so I spoke up for her and said "Excuse me" to get his attention.
He immediately walked over to us, said he couldn't replace it with an unbreaded chicken cutlet but offered meatballs instead. My friend declined, and then he walked away and continued prepping food at the counter. His response felt really rude, he never asked us what was wrong and didn't know that my friend can't eat gluten, so suggesting to replace the chicken with meatballs wasn't helpful. He didn't seem to give a shit, and didn't apologize for the misunderstanding as the menu could have been a little more clear. It was also obvious that he was eavesdropping on our conversation (as we were seated at the counter about 10 feet away from him), so then we felt uncomfortable talking louder than a whisper when finishing our meal.
Overall the food was good enough, but a little expensive for the portion size. Maybe the dinner choices are better than the lunch options, but I can't say. I'll stick to other places for lunch that taste better for a cheaper price.
The space is super cute with a lot of great seating, and it seemed that most people there had gotten a coffee and pastry from PDX Coffee Club cart in the same building, and had their laptops open while doing work. There's plenty of parking. I'll definitely be back for coffee, but probably won't be supporting Please Louise in the future.
FYI - For anyone coming at lunch - They don't serve pizza / entrees / pasta during the lunch hours. Their website says (no pizza until 4pm) just under the lunch section, so I thought the rest of the menu would be available for lunch. I wanted to share in case anyone else also misunderstands the menu on their website.
