Yelp
Back when working in an office everyday was the norm (pre-COVID days...like a lifetime ago), Plentea seemed like THE spot to go to when looking for an afternoon milk tea to brighten up your afternoon. For what seemed like the longest time, all I would ever see on Instagram and Yelp were folks posting photos of their drinks in Plentea's glass bottles. I have to say, though - it was never clear to me if they actually tasted good or if everyone just wanted to take their turn posting photos of their bottles like a badge of honor. Kind of like what I'm...doing...now...
In all seriousness, given how they're located right around where Chinatown, Unions Square, and the Financial District meet, it's really no wonder why so many folks have found their way here. At the very least, it's very convenient if you happen to be any of these areas and in search of a milk tea spot. It also doesn't hurt that their menu is pretty interesting as well. While their range of options isn't as extensive as other places out there, they've got an interesting selection of milk teas (both classic and specialty), fruit teas, matcha, and smoothies. And, of course, those nifty, yet kind of gimmicky, glass bottles, too!

Granted, I don't often get oolong milk teas, but this was definitely one of the better ones I've had. The taste of the oolong itself was great, and their 50% sweet was just the right amount for me, but I wish this had been creamier.

In terms of flavor, this had a pretty good hit of almond to it. The 50% sweet on this one was perfect as well, but like the Oolong Milk Tea I had before, the consistency left me a little wanting. Even with less ice, it still felt a bit watery.
While my experiences were a little mixed (more good than bad, but my friend loved her taro milk tea the first time I was here), it's pretty easy to see why Plentea has more than a few fans. Beyond the drinks, orders come out pretty quickly, there's plenty of parking (at night, anyways), and they're open fairly late (11pm). What's more, I like that you order on a tablet, as you can see all of the drink details and customization options laid out in front of you. That being said, while I certainly wouldn't be opposed to coming back, it'd more likely be when I'm already in the area and/or if it was late rather than making a point of it. But at least now I can add getting one of Plentea's glass bottles to my list of achievements!
THREE AND A HALF STARS rounded down for now.
