I'm TRYING (not really, lol) to be more healthy and adventurous when it comes to food, I thought I'd give eating a plant-based burger a try. As an added incentive, I saw a groupon offer which motivated me even more. Plnt Burger is located inside Whole Foods. When you go through the entrance, make a left and go all the way down to the other end of the store. You will see the bake shop and Plnt Burger is to the right. They have counter seats which are currently closed.
When I got to the register to place my order, I told the server I had a groupon. She informed me that I had to spend $16. Not sure why since it clearly says $15. I sucked up the extra dollar, but it's just the principle. You should honor what you say. I ordered a regular cheeseburger meal which included one side and a 10 oz. drink. I chose the sweet potato crinkles (+.30 addl charge for upgrade) as my side, sweet chili as my snack sauce, and root beer for my drink. I also ordered the crispy herb fries and a maple mustard as the sauce. Note, an order of fries come with one sauce. Flavors include: Garden Herb, Bloomie Spice, Maple Mustard, Sweet Chili. Each additional sauce cost 25 cents. For a snack, I got a chocolate chip cookie.
I was really hoping that I would like the plant-based burger, but was disappointed with my experience. I didn't like the taste or texture. I wasn't sure if I would even be able to finish it, but I did. At least I can say I tried. I don't typically choose sweet potato fries as a side, but so glad I did. That was my favorite and the highlight of my meal. I would go back for just that! The cookie was good too. It reminded me of a chewy Chips Ahoy cookie. When I got home I realized that I may have gotten the same sauce even though I requested two different ones. I believe I got two of the Maple Mustard. I really enjoyed the flavor. I typically don't enjoy regular mustard, only if it's sweetened.
In short, I would choose to eat a salad or a vegetarian entree over a plant-based burger any day. Proud of myself for trying something new. If I ever happen to stop by Whole Foods to shop, I would definitely come back for a snack or their fries.
