Spike Mendelsohn’s PLNT Burger Opens Its First Virginia Outpost in Tysons Corner | Eater DC

"Celebrity chef Spike Mendelsohn and his partners have opened the chain’s first Virginia location — the sixth PLNT Burger food stall overall — inside the Whole Foods at the Boro in Tysons Corner. The Beyond Meat–based vegan fast-casual concept sells oat milk shakes, plant-protein burgers with potato-starch cheese, and fried mushroom sandwiches; it debuted inside a Silver Spring Whole Foods last fall and now operates in Whole Foods from D.C. (Shaw, South Capitol Hill) to Wynnewood, Pennsylvania. Customers can order pickup or delivery online or through a new app." - Tierney Plumb

The food was room temperature when I picked it up and it was within 10 min , it still tasted amazing , my shake was perfectly chilled, I had the banana crème brulee shake and the mushroom bbq burger with side of fries. Everything tasted great, I just wish it were hotter. Ate inside of the Whole Foods. It was quite lots of seating , clean. I really enjoyed to atmosphere.

Google
Plntburger is the absolute best experience you can have if you're looking for a righteous 🍔 burger🎯 they are vegan but that's not a bad thing!! Their appeal is universal. Meat lovers could never tell the difference and us vegans can have an incredible experience with burgers that harmed nothing in their making!!! Thank you so much!!!

Google
PLNT Burger is a solid spot for a tasty, plant-based meal. The burgers are surprisingly juicy and flavorful, and the sides are just as good. The vibe is casual and laid-back, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Great place to grab a satisfying bite, whether you’re vegan or just looking for something different — I’ll definitely be back.

Google
The reviews were kind of mixed but as vegetarians trying to get a quick meal before we went to an event, we had an excellent experience! Parking garage connected to Whole Foods with validated parking at customer service, PLNT Burger is located inside Whole Foods. We used the app to order ahead to be sure we would not be late and it was ready when we requested it. The herb fries were hands down the best fries I e ever had. And the BIG PLNTburger was perfect size. Mom got the patty melt and loved it. Dad got the regular PLNTburger and my wife also got the BIG PLNTburger. I wasn’t a big fan of the sauces but they had ketchup and mustard too so it was perfect! We would definitely recommend this to anyone - vegetarian or not!

Google
Solid vegan fast food place for both regular vegetarians and first time tryers. The burgers were fresh and fried mushrooms were very crispy. Sweet potatoes were a great side dish. Variety of tasty sauces to try as well. Super friendly and accommodating staff at this location. Overall decent option for people to try.

Google
PLNT Burger is so good!!! I got the cheese PLNT burger, herby fries, chocolate oatasty shake, choc chip cookie, and the fried green beans (was curious) and everything was 10/10 delicious. I also tried all the sauces and would recommend the maple mustard and the BBQ. I’d definitely come here again and highly recommend you bring all your non-vegan friends here to try. 😊

Google
Great experience having a vegan burger, loved the taste, the fries was fantastic. However, the portions was ridiculously small, it felt klike mini burgers. Also, the ingredients, as you can see in the photos, did not look fresh.

Google
PLNT burger is one of my favorite places to eat. When I have that fast food “craving” that is the only place in my mind. All items have tried are amazing (hard every time to decide what to get because everything is delicious 🤤) and my kids LOVE it too. Love love love it 🌱💚💚💚

Yelp
Very disappointing compared to when they first opened. I first tried them when they opened and it was so good! This time my burger disintegrated in my hand... slipped & slid... did not hold together at all. It really ruined my experience. They did not put as much spread as they did the first time I came here so I asked for more spread. They charged me a dollar for more spread. Sad because I used to really like them. I did try their vegan nuggets and those were good. They really need to up keep the quality control - they had the potential to be the best plant-based burger in the game!

Yelp
My girlfriend who is vegetarian love this place as a fast casual burger spot! I think they may have the best fast food fries I've ever had. They are thick and crinkle cut. You can select from a variety of sauces. The fries are the perfect amount of crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. Also well seasoned. They are a little pricey for fast food fries but Plnt Burger fries have displaced chick fil a waffle fries as my new favorite fries. Yay no hate fries! I'm docking a star because while their burgers are good, esp the bbq sauce one, whatever ingredients they use in them makes me bloat.

Yelp
Tasty plant-based fast food! I love their herb fries - super crispy yet fluffy. The chik'n sandwich was so good - it tasted like actual chicken and was flavorful. I just wish they used a bun that was less dry. I enjoyed their mushroom bbq bacon burger, but didn't care for the mushroom bacon. All of the sauces, except for bbq, were unfortunately bland. I would come back for the fries and chik'n, though! I recommend PLNT for a large selection of plant-based food, but the prices are a bit steep!

Yelp
Tucked inside of Whole Foods is PLNT Burger with meaty vegan burgers! I've ordered from the app on more fingers and toes that I can count and delightfully made my rounds through the menu. The sweet potato fries, Mint Cookies and Cream Shake are my go-to favorite sides! PLNT has changed its recipes and some of the chik'n which used to be breaded oyster mushrooms and then a mock meat to Meati Mushroom Root Cutlet and now Tindle Cutlet. Where did the Crispy Chik'n Funguy sandwich go? My beloved meaty breaded fried oyster mushrooms that taste just like crispy chicken tenders. What happened to it??? While Crispy Chik'n is good, it doesn't beat the Funguy sandwich! Green Bean Fries (5/5) - Please bring back, sadly no longer on the menu! Surprisingly crispy and delicious! A fun way to get your nutrients and enjoy green beans coated in breadcrumbs with quinoa, corn, and flax seeds. The herb dipping sauce pairs really well! Sweet Potato Fries (5/5) - Love these fries, must have! Perfect sweet and salty combo! The maple mustard and house dipping sauces pair well. Garlic herb Fries (4/5) - The herb dipping sauce pairs well with the fries. Mushroom Bacon BBQ (5/5) - Tangy meaty burger with Beyond the Meat patty, crispy onion "bloomies", oozing with cheddar cheese and smothered in bbq sauce. One time, I swapped out the Beyond Burger patty for the Chik'n patty, which didn't pair well. Recommend eating this burger right away, it gets soggy fast! Baja Burger (5/5) - My favorite Beyond Meat burger with a spicy kick! The fried jalapenos are super spicy - next time I'm opting out of them. While I wasn't a fan of the vegan pepper jack cheese, the guac, caramelized onions, spicy chipotle mayo added a nice sweet and savory flavor and helped to round out the burger. Fingerlick' good! Steakhouse Burger (5/5) - Zesty, fully-loaded burger with a bold bbq flavor from the Beyond the Meat paddy, caramelized onions, mushrooms, mini shoestring fries, cheddar cheese and smothered in bbq sauce. The onion poppy-seed bun really elevates the flavor. Crispy Chik'n (4/5) - I couldn't tell the difference between the Meati and the new Tindle Cutlets, they both similarly taste like a chicken tender. The pickles and garden herb help to elevate the flavor. Grilled Chik'n Burger (1/5) - Not a fan of the grilled chik'n burger, it had a weird rubbery texture. After a couple of bites, I threw in the towel. Actually Veggies Burger (2/5) - I wanted to love the burger and rooting for it because it's so healthy, but it's so mushy and bland. Tastes just like the vegetarian NoBull Burger. Least flavorful of all the burgers. Chili Bowl (3/5) - The beans and mock beef chili had an interesting sweet and savory flavor with a spicy kick! Sadly it didn't come as advertised and was missing the best toppings - sour cream, scallions, and corn. These toppings would have helped to balance out the flavor. Wish corn tortilla chips came with the chili. The chili just felt incomplete. I ended up buying a bag of fresh tortilla chips at Whole Foods and some guac, which helped to elevate the flavor! Lil' Dippers (3/5) - Look like crispy tater tots and taste like mini chicken nugget made of soy. While fun to try a couple, 8 of them are quite a bit in a serving and would my appetite for a burger or wings. Wings - They look and taste like chicken nugget, my daughter couldn't tell the difference between the meaty and vegan nuggets. The BBQ wings were a bit messy and paired well with the Ranch sauce, they were my pick over the Plain wings. 4 come in a serving. Mint Cookies and Cream OATasty Shake (5/5) - Hands-down my favorite shake, tastes like a decadent milk shake and like a healthy vegan McFluffy. S'mores OATasty Shake (5/5) - The chocolate milk shake made with oat milk topped with a ginormous toasted marshmallow is the perfect sweet treat! Banana Creme Brulee OATasty Shake (3/5) - Very banana forward! Chocolate OATasty Shake, (4/5) - I recommend getting a flavored shake. As a bonus, you can get free fries when there's snow on the ground! Download the app, you'll great rewards and can get free burgers, fries, and special deals. I've scored 2 free burgers and an order of fries! It's worth subscribing to emails for the coupons! You get a $5 coupon right away and then another $5 coupon for your birthday (it expires a week later) and have received many freebies as reward points! Excited to come back to try new items on the menu!

Yelp
Very interesting meat free burger I've wanted to try for a minute. The first two bites, I couldn't tell the difference, but as it cooled, I could tell it wasn't meat lol. Still, very tasty and filling. Loved the cheese they used. Fries were awesome, just wish the garden herb sauce was bigger (very small container, finished it before the fries). My banana crème brûlée shake was okay (it's a limited time flavor). This is a pricier meal but that's the cost I suppose of eating meat free. It's good the option exists. There's little seating since it's inside a Whole Foods. Service was relatively fast.

Yelp
Yes, please be how do I get this t my Whole Foods? PLNT Burger is a little tricky because you'll likely believe it is closed because the staff largely in the back unless you're ordering, but the staff at this location was great. Not the biggest fan of the fried green beans, but the sweet potato fries were some of the best I've ever had. Their soft serve is made with oat milk. Wow, I've missed soft serve. For all the non vegans, my meat-eating colleagues compared it to soft serve from DQ or a similar restaurant. In a big fan of the swirl. I was nervous to try the burgers; I hate the fake meats but these were made with mushrooms. Not the best burger alternative I've ever had, but I'd definitely eat it again. If I knew they held up, I would have taken some for the road. I saw a few non-vegans also stopping by, so while I can't compare it to other burger joints, it seems like it is worth a try even if you eat meat.

Yelp
Excellent experiences at PLNT Burger EVERYTIME! I've been working my way through their menu and it's always got something fun to try. I do wish the pricing was a little lower since the burgers aren't the "normal" size of American burgers, they are a little on the smaller side. But other than that I am a regular customer. The milkshakes are amazing, the fries are always crispy and the staff is always helpful and friendly at this location. We come in about 3 times a month and considering that there aren't many fast food vegan places, this place ROCKS! Solid menu, good service and tasty food.

Yelp
I can only speak to our to-go experience but the couple of times we have ordered from here we have been very happy. Vegans and non-vegans alike are in for a treat. The burgers are juicy and delicious but our surprise favorite was the chili dog! First chili dog I've had since becoming a plant-based and it was so so good. The only downside is the price leaves a bit to be desired. It makes for a once-in-awhile treat but not a regular stop unfortunately. We look forward to dining in and updating our review.

Yelp
Another awesome visit to PLNT!! Great service that cares about their customers, hot and delicious vegan food, and a great variety of delicious bites to choose from! Love the Strawberry shake - sooo good! The hot dog was fantastic- love the fact they toast the bun!! Our first time with the new chicken' patty which was crispy and flavorful! So worth the drive from Fairfax to pick up these tasty vegan delights!!

Yelp
I had the Mushroom BBQ Burger, it was the absolute best I have ever had. It was so savory and so good. I had my friend's fries which were also really good! :) I am going to come back and try other items! The service was kind of slow but I guess there were two people working there and had several people working in line! It is inside a food court in Whole Foods! :) you can grocery shop while you wait! It is fast casual place, the seating is limited right next to it but you can walk up and find way more seating!

Yelp
They had me at VEGAN STRAWBERRY MILKSHAKE. So excited to get a vegan cheeseburger with a strawberry milkshake on the side after a hard days work in the sun. Staff were SUPER sweet and on point. Love the aesthetics of the minimalist seating area with all the natural light spilling in. Yum yum yum. Tasty beyond expectation. I will return asap !! YES: VEGAN

Yelp
Delicious plant based burgers served fresh and hot. Yum! Was so happy to find a delicious plant burger to satisfy my burger craving. It's located inside Whole Foods in Mosaic/Merrifield in their food court. The service was fast and pleasant. The staff made us our delicious burgers as we requested. We ordered two burgers along with chili fries. The fries even crispy under the chili l. The chili is on the sweeter side (Cincinnati style) so it's not your thing you may want to skip the chili. The cool ingredients were fresh and a perfect compliment to our burgers. There are tables in the food court to sit at and on a Monday evening it was nice and quiet. During the day or in the weekends I imagine it's busy there. There haven't been too many places around that specialize in plant based burgers so this was an awesome surprise. They had multiple burger combinations and I look forward to trying more of them.

Yelp
GO Vegan! I took mY Carnist friend here, and she raved and raved about it. Missing NOTHING compared to eating actual animals - except for The occasional tendon! All The taste while completely clean. I just need some self-control when it comes to going down The menu! Then again I do want to support Vegan businesses ;). They also sell $5 meal tickets that you can donate to poor people to get their VEGAN meals. YeaY! nO worrying about your money going to harm The non-human animals that can happen when you directly give cash. I will not deduct a star for The scary parking, that makes it seem like you will get towed without a "ticket" at any given moment (eat outside sO you can watch your car I guess), but I will for their aversion to The term "Vegan" when they ARE Vegan! "plant-based" is a meaningless term, since technically everything is based on plants, including herbivore carcass. Whole Food's sells a "plant-based" items which contain egg, MAY contain this or that cruelty item, and honey, which is 100% plant-based. but because they ARE Vegan despite shying around The term, I cannot go less than 4 stars. Hope to raise it uP to a five since I love supporting Vegan establishments. I do have to maintain some sorta standard tho.

Yelp
Solid burger, I've had plant based burgers everywhere but not as unique as this. Their fries were good too!

Yelp
This restaurant is inside the whole foods store . It offers fast food vegan food . The kids had the vegan burgers with sweet potato fries and I had the vegan chilli . The service and the food was okay . One has to pay to park in this mall a few dollars . Not a place that I could say I want to come back for more but still grateful it was plant base .

Yelp
If you aren't a vegetarian, don't be turned off by PLNT Burger, a meatless burger join by the chef behind D.C.'s beloved burger spot Good Stuff Eatery. The burgers use Beyond Meat, which truly tastes and looks like meat without being it. Like most of PLNT Burger's locations, it's a stall in the food court in Whole Foods at The Boro Tysons. If you walk through the main entrance, you can't miss it. A fast-casual spot, go through the line and order one of several burgers, chicken sandwiches and a fish sandwich. I ordered the bacon, mushroom BBQ burger and it was tasty. Order the meal as the burgers come out smaller than other fast casual restaurants. The meal comes with fries (they have five different kinds!) and a drink. Despite using expensive Beyond Meat, the prices aren't bad at all! Pro-tip- ask for their specialty sauces to dip the fries.

Yelp
So good! Located inside Whole Foods. Employees are friendly, helpful, and wrapped our order neatly. Outdoor seating is available and there is additional seating on the 3rd floor. Our order was ready in no time. We enjoyed everything. Their fries are deliciously crisp and cooked to perfection. Super addicting and even better with their sauces. The burger bun was fluffy yet held everything together. The plant-based patty was excellent. Super flavorful and had a lovely consistency. Hubs, who loves all things meat enjoyed his burger as well. Score! I really wish there was a PLNT Burger closer to where we live. Can't wait to come back and try some of their other menu items.

Yelp
Plnt Burger is stepping up the vegan fast food game, I mean look at that cheeseburger I posted?! It's pretty cool this restaurant is located inside Whole Foods markets and I don't know how they do it but they literally cook your food in light speed. Every time I have ordered I've done so from the app and it will be just like a minute wait and the food is coming out hot! The "meat" they use is beyond so you really can't go wrong with any of there burgers. They have a rotating monthly shake made from oat milk and then staple flavors your can get every time (such as strawberry, chocolate, and vanilla). The shake is thick and creamy and taste delicious. The "chicken" sandwich is made from mushrooms which is pretty cool. It definitely has a fried chicken taste to it which is great. The spicy sandwich isn't that spicy it only brings a little heat. They have two sides fries and mini blooming onions. The fries have a special seasoning on it and you can also get them loaded with vegan chili and and cheese. Also, just because this is vegan I would not say it is healthy, it is definitely the greasy fast food experience that you would get at any typical fast food restaurant but that's what we love right? I did a YouTube video explaining more about the sandwiches and real time taste test.

Liz P.

Yelp
PLNT has great, "fast" burgers and chick'n, and the food is always hot and fresh! The employees go the extra mile to make sure everything is enjoyable. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Been here a couple times after shopping at the Whole Foods and it's solid. I've had the Plnt Burger and the Crispy Chik'n Sandwich. The chicken sandwich is good- well-balanced and it tastes like a real chicken patty. The burger tasted good overall but the patty was kind of messy. Their fries are nice and crispy, and the dipping sauces are good too. Overall, good spot to stop by for a quick and healthy bite.

Catherine D.

Yelp
I'm an omnivore that eats vegan and vegetarian rotated in my diet. I was interested to try this place but sadly was not for me. I tried the cheeseburger and hotdog. Hotdog taste very fake and plastic, it did have the correct flavors and look of a hotdog. The burger too, meat smelled and looked like burger but missing the fattiness and real meat texture? To be fair there's very few meat substitutes that I think taste good. I did enjoy the green bean fries and sauces! My son enjoyed his mint Oreo shake. I would be interested in trying the fish or chickn. But the ones we got we just weren't into and I couldn't eat it all as started to feel a little sick.i liked that it was inside Whole Foods and the services was quick and nice.

Yelp
Wow. This place might be my new favorite vegan restaurant in the area. We ordered a lot and everything I tasted I loved. The best things were the vegan aioli and the cheeseburger. The fish filet was also amazing. Loved the texture of the filet and the freshness of the bread. All the food at PLNT Burger felt light but super satiating at the same time. My cousin loved everything she tried especially the cardamon orange drink. I was blown away by the cookies and cream oat milkshake as well. It tasted like a regular milkshake but even better. I'll be coming back here a lot from now on!

Yelp
Having plant based burgers, fries and shakes at your disposal, especially if you're craving it, is so rare. I love knowing that I can come to this joint and satisfy my craving with their plant based burgers, and so many different versions of it! I haven't tried everything but have enjoyed their "beef" burgers with the toppings of your choice (and they have a ton of them) cheese my favorite. I appreciate the the "chicken" they use by meati, and I do like their carne asadas, BUT the "Impossible" chicken/beef is my preference. It's so savory and juicy with the perfect crust when cooked right. (I use an air fryer mostly) As a former meat eater, I really enjoyed the chicken sandwiches from burger king and McDonald's sweet baby back ribs sandwiches when in season. The closest I could find to those ribs were from morningstar but they discontinued them a while ago, unfortunately. I really miss it. Yummy, delicious and thick shakes! Crispy, fried potatoes wedges with creamy yummy dipping sauces, all assortments!

Yelp
The best plant-based burger I've had in the area. I've been looking for more health-conscious choices to cut calories and PLNT Burger seemed like a budget friendly choice. Their classic PLNT burger blew me away. They smash it thin so the patty becomes crispy, along with the sauce and vegan cheese, the flavors were spectacular. Don't underestimate these plantified burgers, they'll get the job done. Big congrats to Spike Mendelsohn and the Goldmansteins on their new location!

Yelp
No knives to cut the sandwich in half. Sweet potato fries are burnt.. There was no discount for a meal. It was $17.78 for a mushroom BBQ Bacon Burger, small fry and small drink.
google avatar

Nora A.

Yelp
Pros: absolutely delicious! Friendly service and good location. The onion bloomies are tasty, and the bloomie sauce is amazing. Cons: the price points are pretty steep for the portion size, with combos priced close to $20. My bbq burger was pretty tiny. Service is also a tad slow as they get slammed and always appear understaffed. I ordered the BBQ bacon burger and instead received the other BBQ burger they offer...which was still tasty but I really wanted to try the bacon. All in all, food is good but I don't think I'd come back without a groupon.

Lucy L.

Yelp
food was delicious! Website was easy to access and guided. Pickup time was accurate and easy to grab. Customer service was great!

Yelp
I'm not vegan but this place is surprisingly good! I ordered their sweet potato fries and 8pcs lil dippers, both were delicious! I'll be back to try their burgers and milkshake.

Yelp
This one is located at The Boro inside Whole Foo court. There's pay to park and parking garages. It's a business area with a ton of restaurants around. I went with my family during lunch time so the area was very busy, lots of cars and ppl going by. There's a ton of seating inside Whole Foods and PLNT Burgers line was pretty popular. There was only one worker and he was very nice and very quick taking orders and making the food, I was honestly impress because the line was long but somehow he managed to get both done quickly. I'm not a vegetarian or a vegan but my niece who was in town is. So we came here for her to try it. She said she does not really like fake meat because it doesn't taste good to her at all but she really enjoyed her burger. I wasn't a huge fan of my steak burger but I was impressed to see how stacked and satisfying it looked when I got it. I was however a huge fan of all the sides. The fried green beans are seriously crispy and seasoned well, the fries are really good to, and the strawberry milkshake was AMAZING. My daughter surprisingly liked their "chicken" nuggets a lot, it made of tofu and super crispy to. If you're vegan or vegetarian, this place is definitely for you. My niece is coming back for sure !

Yelp
Sometimes you feel meaty and at times you feel like a veg! I enjoy vegan options from time to time and PLNT Burger impressed me in many ways! I won a gift card at a Yelp event last year and I was finally able to use it for a delicious vegan meal. PLNT Burger is located inside Whole Foods Market at Tyson's Corner. I ordered the crispy chickn sandwich with a side of crispy herbed fries. Holy guacamole the sandwich was delicious! The oyster mushroom was full of flavor and the herbed fries were fried to perfection! They have four flavorful dipping sauces and I enjoyed them all. The meal tasted so good I forgot to snap a picture! The customer service was mediocre, the gentleman that took my order seemed bored and tired like but this review solely based on the quality of the food. I'm excited to try more items on the menu. I hope one day PLNT Burger expands to a bigger franchise because their food is darn delicious!
google avatar

Yelp
Did not enjoy the meal and afterwards my tummy hurt. Did not like the sauce on the steak burger, and the bread which was a potato bread was to hard for me.

Yelp
I'm glad they opened one of these in Tysons Whole Foods since I'm around the area a lot. I've been here about 5-6 times and it's been great every time. It's pretty easy getting in since Whole Foods parking is validate with a purchase. I've gotten most of the burgers on the menu and with the way they prep them, it's hard to tell the difference between a regular burger and these. The service can be slow sometimes but I figure they're still working on that because they're new. I love the double plnt burger the most. It's big burger, super filling if you're hungry, and the toppings make you feel like you're eating beef. I also like the mushroom bacon bbq burger but sometimes the bbq can be a little heavy but again, hard to tell a difference. I love their herbed fries, they're crispy every time, even during travel and the herb dipping sauce that comes with it gives a nice tang. Not a big fan of the chocolate oat shakes. They were a little too icy and we didn't get enough chocolate flavor. I'll definitely be coming back anytime I need to head to this Whole Foods or if I want a burger but not feel so bad about myself.

Marylee N.

Yelp
PLNT Burger is my favorite place to go for good fast food. It has all been delicious and I don't need to worry about the ingredients. They treat their customers very well and make the food with care. I love it!

Yelp
Two words. Regret and Dissapointment. I was reading the other review and got really excited about a PLNT Burger opening up a few minutes from me. I ordered door dash and the dasher was clearly there for about 20 minutes. I felt so bad for him. He explained that he had been trying to fix my order and they made it wrong 4 times and he finally thought that they had it... sadly, ofc he couldn't open up the burger to look but they did not. He said they added extra sweet potato and fries to compensate me for the wait... but honestly even the fries and sweet potato tasted bad. Even though the restaurant is only a few minutes from me, and the dasher delivered to me within 10 minutes, somehow the fries were chewy on the outside and mushy on the inside... maybe I just got the last cold scraps from the night. Everything was chewy, the fries, the burger, the blooming onions inside my burger... (I didn't order the extra onions...) I got the PLNTY meal with a Mushroom Bacon BBQ burger with a mandarin cardamom drink with "chili" and a small sweet potato side. I ended up with the weirdest tasting monstrosity... I eat vegan all the time, but it was just weird. It was two patties with too many caramelized onions, so many that I just scraped it off, 2-3 pieces of teeny tiny mushrooms that seemed uncooked, unseasoned, and dry (I love mushrooms but they were the worst), deep fried Baby onions (something I never asked for), and soooo much BBQ sauce I could barely taste the burger "meat." No chili in sight. Honestly everything tasted like the deep fried onions - the burger, the sweet potato fries, and the extra fries they "compensated" me with. The best tasting item was the beyond meat patty, but I assume that's already premmade somewhere else. The mandarin cardamom drink confused me. I wasn't sure if at some point there was ice in it since it was just warm, but it just tasted like stale syrup diluted with warm water. I hate wasting food but I tossed out most of the burger bun with the caramelized and deep fried onions, and the drink.

Yelp
I'm pescatarian and wanted to find something good to eat, so I found this place. We ordered the fries ( with garlic) and they were a little bland, the burger was good and flavorful. I would visit again though!

The food was delicious and surprisingly affordable. I redeemed a coupon for a free chicken sandwich along with fries, a cookie, soft serve, and a drink. I highly recommend.

Yelp
Loved the food, and the cashier was very helpful in describing the different menu items in detail. I would come back just for the chikn sandwich alone! Tasted just as good as a traditional fried chicken sandwich.

Yelp
Sometimes you just want fast food and someone else to make that veggie burger for you. It's so nice seeing more places that serve meat alternatives. My husband and i tried their hot dog and the fungi chicken burger along with the fries, and boy was it tasty! Looking forward to trying all the other things on their menu.

Yelp
I loved the chicken sandwich. It taste like real chicken. Service was also fast. Friendly staff. Small but clean environment.

Yelp
First time trying this joint. Service was very good. Nice folks. I rated 3 stars because I support vegetarianism, but it's way over priced, basically, fast-food for the wealthy. The chocolate chip cookie was salty and expensive. Is that the way it's sold or did someone accidentally make a batch with salt instead of sugar? The cheeseburger was quite thin for $9. The chikn sandwiches were a better size but ever more expensive at over $11. The fries were fine. I didn't care for any of the special sauces. Good ole ketchup and mustard were good enough for me. The spicy chikn sandwich is basically dunked in tabasco-like sauce and it's too strong. You have to park in the garage and then get your ticket validated before leaving. I prefer Elevation veggie burgers and fries of plant burger, but it's a good start for folks trying to become vegetarian.

Yelp
It's located inside Whole Foods. Shockingly burgers were great!!! We also ordered chili fries which was okay. Chili was a bit sweet for my taste. There is seating area not only across plnt burger but also upstairs where you have the choice of sitting outside or other searing areas. Relaxed ambiance but not a restaurant. Service was good and employee was helpful.

Yelp
Vegan burgers definitely aren't an original concept, but PLNT Burger offers a varied menu and some unique options that help differentiate themselves from the competition. I ordered the Mushroom BBQ Bacon Burger and I LOVED it! The toppings added so much flavor and it tasted very "meaty." I would happily order it again. I also ordered the bloomies. They're essentially just fried onions. Hard to mess that up. They're a little dry on their own but pretty darn good when you dip them in sauce. Overall, I was happy with my food, especially considering I have paid twice the price before for vegan burgers that were not nearly as customized or flavorful. My girlfriend (who is not vegan) ordered the DBL PLNT burger. She didn't love it as much as I loved mine, but she did enjoy it. I also like their unique drinks options. I got an orange turmeric drink that I was a bit hesitant to order, but it was actually pretty darn good. My girlfriend ordered a berry drink that she really enjoyed. I was really excited to try the oat milk soft serve since I've never had vegan soft serve before. It wasn't bad, but I was a bit underwhelmed. It tasted more like frozen yogurt than ice cream. I ate all of mine and was content. My girlfriend ended up throwing her's away after eating half of it. I would probably pass on the soft serve next time. I would rather get an vegan dessert from a bakery or buy a dairy-free pint from the store. Overall, my experience here was really good and I would highly recommend the Mushroom BBQ Bacon Burger!

Yelp
I'm not a vegetarian but I am interested in meat alternatives and eating "greener," so I was excited to try PLNT Burger within the Boro's Whole Foods, but I don't think I'll find myself coming back. My biggest qualm was the small portion sizes of the burgers which also looked nowhere near as nice as in the pictures. These tiny burgers are a smidge larger than slider and inadequately sized for a meal, especially when a burger, fries, and drink sets you back around $13. Flavor-wise, the patty was crispy and had a good consistency and decent flavor, but by no means will it fool you into thinking you're eating beef. The sauce situation was confusing because I was asked to pick a sauce with my order but I didn't realize that was for a side sauce. Thus, instead of the sauce I picked, my burger came with a vegan 1000 island sauce which I would have skipped had I known about it. Another miss was the mandarin juice which tasted flat and syrupy, sort of like Tang. The fries, however, were awesome. I just wish the other aspects of the meal were stronger.

Yelp
I've been frequently checking PLNT burger to see if they've updated their nutritional information on their website and they have! I can see why their burgers are so delicious and tad on the rich/greasy side because their Cheeseburger for example has 54 grams of fat. That's my full daily value of fat in a day! Overall, this place is amazing and delicious and I will definitely visit again when I feel like treating myself. However, this is also a good example of "just because something is vegan, it doesn't mean it is healthy."

Yelp
they were open even during first wave of pandemic when everything was closed. Groupon.app sometimes has promotions at 40-50% discount rates and I love the berry farm-to-table CSA drink! The packaging is of course sustainable and you can request for add-one like the sauces for the petal fries which I think they use healthier oil-based when frying? I always order in advance since drive up is only 10 minutes or less parking, but it's very worth it. The franchise is located inside Whole Foods and you can enjoy the food court on the 2nd level for clean air and there's a bar for happy hour.. the pricing matches the quality of sustainability, vegan, and health conscientious menu of palette choice(s). I like the web site design as well very friendly interface.

Yelp
PLNT Burger is a fast food concept located within select Whole Foods Market locations. I've tried 3 locations in VA and DC, although this location at The Boro is my go-to. Their menu offers juicy burgers, herbed fries (with a myriad of tasty dipping sauces), Oatly milkshakes with a monthly flavor, fizzy drinks, and snacks like cookies/chili for order in-person or preorder online/via their app. They occasionally share promo codes via Instagram or their website, so I often take advantage of their "meatless Monday" or new item deals. My favorite item of theirs is the Chicken Sandwich, which they recently changed from air-fried mushroom chicken to Gardein faux meat. While both versions are delicious, the mushroom chicken is a creative concept with a unique taste that I particularly enjoyed. Likewise, ordering from the app is a great way to collect "points" which can be redeemed for future discounts or promos. The prices are generally higher than their non-vegan counterparts, nonetheless I'm extremely grateful to have a local vegan fast-food joint.

Yelp
PLNT Burger has quickly become a staple for me and my girlfriend since we tried it about 2+ months ago. We had passed by this new spot in the Boro Whole Foods a couple times before venturing to order anything. We do frequent this Whole Foods a lot, so it's super convenient to be able to grab some groceries and dinner for the night at the same time. Disclaimer: We are not vegetarian/vegan at all, but we love the burgers, sandwiches and fries here! Everything is delicious. Since trying PLNT Burger, we've been able to come back and try a variety of items. Everything is fresh, hot and made-to-order. I always order on the app on my phone and it comes out in about 15-20 minutes at the counter. There's a lot of great discounts and perks on the app too! Food: 1. Mushroom Bacon Burger - The first time I brought my girlfriend PLNT burger, I got her the mushroom bacon burger. Halfway through, I told her it was all vegetarian and she couldn't believe it! The "mushroom bacon" is pretty legit and this burger comes with caramelized onions and bbq sauce. 2. Steakhouse Burger - This is one of the newer offerings and it consists of a patty, caramelized onions, shoestring-like crispy fries, roasted portobellos, provolone, horseradish mayo, and steak sauce. I really enjoy the steakhouse with the added portobellos and it's a pretty thick burger. 3. Double PLNT Burger - The double PLNT is a classic burger with onions, pickles, american cheese, lettuce, tomato, and sauce. It's still delicious even though it's not as unique as the other offerings and definitely hits the spot. 4. Spicy Chik N' Funguy Sandwich - We tried the spicy sandwich one time and while I did enjoy the texture of the oyster mushrooms, the spicy sauce was a little too tangy for me like a tangy buffalo. I think I would enjoy the regular version of it more, but still the cripsy mushrooms were good! 5. Sweet Potato Fries - The sweet potato fries here are epic! Super hot and crispy wedges. They go well with the sweet chili sauce. These are some of my fave sweet potato fries I have had in the area! Overall, big fan of PLNT burger and all of their delicious offerings! Vegetarians, vegans and omnivores alike should try!

Yelp
PLNT burger hits different. I've had Impossible and Beyond meats in all its forms, but this is the first veggie burger that truly scratches the itch for a longing vegetarian, and I am in love with the bloomies. I'd honestly LIKE to give it 5 stars, however... I was shocked at how hard it was to get allergen information. There is nothing on the website or menu, and the employees kept reflexively responding to my inquiries about gluten-free items with "everything is vegan!"--they didn't seem to know what gluten was or which items contained it. At my first visit, I didn't feel like I could confidently order something safe here, so I think PLNT Burger needs to focus on employees allergen training and/or making allergen info more accessible. For all my gluten-free friends out there, it turns out that everything is gluten free except the potato buns and the cookies, according to an employee who answered my online inquiry. After a long line of questioning, an employee at this location also told me the deep-fry batter is only corn flour and rice flour. Clearly, this didn't happen by accident. It makes no sense to me why a place would go through the trouble to make almost their entire menu GF, and then not even advertise it, or at least make that information available!
