New Bar Sets Sights On Detroit’s Financial District | Eater Detroit

"A new grocery outpost integrated into the museum’s food service system is set to open in winter 2019, emphasizing locally sourced items and plenty of organic ingredients; an on-site market kitchen will offer outdoor seating and a separate entrance so visitors can access the market experience without paying museum admission." - Brenna Houck

The food is stale, dry, and overpriced. Go someplace else. Don’t make the same mistake we did. I wish we got into the car, drove somewhere nice to eat, and came back to the museum. The re-entry is free and you can go in and out as many times as you want. Just remember to get your wrist stamped so you can show them to come back in. This place is NOT worth your time or your money

We landed at Detroit Airport and had some time before our connecting flight to Tampa, so we decided to grab lunch. We came across Plum Market Kitchen in the terminal and ordered a combination of tacos, brussels sprouts, and mashed potatoes from their menu. The food was served quickly in a combo box, but unfortunately, the flavors were a bit underwhelming. While it was a decent meal, it lacked seasoning and could've been much better with a bit more flavor and freshness. On the bright side, Plum Market Kitchen is also home to Zingerman's Coffee, which offers a great selection of freshly brewed coffee. If you're passing through, we'd recommend stopping by Zingerman's for a solid coffee experience.

All I got was a cappuccino and it’s good. Frothed well, really hot and not any more expensive than a coffee shop not attached to a museum.

The Plumb Market at the Henry Ford Museum is a nice place to eat. It's located near the front entrance, and it's quick, clean and well stocked. Lots to select from. And membership gets a discount. The Reuben was tender and moist.

The sherry mushrooms were crazy good! All beef tacos were delicious and filling. Brussel sprouts, though not my favorite food, were very good. ...and of course, a great Chardonnay from BlackStar Winery here in Detroit topped it all off nicely.

I enjoyed sitting outside in the sun and had some salad and beer. After 2 hours in the Museum it was great to sit down and relax. Relax and prepare for 4 hours more to learn and enjoy in this amazing museum. I also tried Coffee and some Black magic Brownie. This place has great selection of Draft beers, wine and many interesting dishes. I will be back to this place on my next visit. Great staff.

All servers act like they can’t wait to leave and have no enthusiasm to be here, felt like I was being rushed, will never eat here again, next time I’ll come with my own food. You can barely spend less than $10 on 1 person as well

The food is terrible, not fresh and overpriced. We always go out to eat when we go to Henry Ford and Greenfield Village. We LOVED Stand44 during the summer. Why is it Plum Market in the museum? Replace it with Stand44! I don't mind paying $15 per person if the food is FRESH and actually tastes good. The variety is much better at Stand44 too. Guess we won't be eating at Henry Ford again until we can go somewhere decent.

Yelp
Tiny and dry piece of salmon and a bad kale salad side. Every single open food in the display looked dry and gross.

Yelp
The honey pork was fatty and not very hot. The chicken tenders are very thin, mostly breading. The Ford can do a lot better. The food is costly and not flavorful. No ambiance.

Yelp
Stopped in with friends after going to see the Apollo exhibit. Just wanted to get some refreshments. We ordered a espresso, a cup of ice cream, a strawberry pomegranate smoothie, and a 3 berry banana smoothie. Cashier was very friendly and polite. Service was quick. Only issue was the 3 berry banana smoothie did not get the banana. Did not catch it till later. I added one at home. All in all a good visit. We will be back. A go to place in my book. And they are on the expensive side.

Yelp
Too much hype may have set this place up. Or maybe I thought it would tone down the A2 "uniqueness" to appeal to the normal masses. While Plum Market means something to SE Michiganians, it doesn't to out of state or country folks. Don't get me wrong. The high quality (and prices) you normally think of is still there along with the healthy food choices, but this is a family museum not fancy art museum. With just 4 choices of kid friendly food, it might be hard to feed a picky eater ( my ex would definitely not find any to eat). If you have more than a few kids, the cost! Sit your money on fire EBS would say. I got the pot roast with 2 sides, fancy baked potato and garlic broccoli for $18. I also got French onion soup to take home for $6. I also got the last chocolate cupcake for $3.95. I also got a white chocolate and macadamia nut cookie for under $3. But when I looked for fountain pop, THERE WAS NONE!!!!!!!! Only bottled Pepsi products I had to ask for a cup but no ice and the diet Pepsi was warm. Even with my membership, it was over $30. I did ask a supervisor about if they plan to add fountain pop and was told NO. I could go to either to get some at the movies next to there or stop all the way across the museum at Michigan Cafe! How do you get refills!?!? The pot roast was not the best I have had but did warm up well since I took half home. The broccoli was the strangest I have seen. Thin stalks and heads - my papa would have called this a failed crop if it grew in his garden. The potatoes was quartered and tasted good there and warmed up well but tasted better with my organic catsup. The cupcake was delicious. I will not be back to eat a meal in a museum visit since it doesn't offer fountain pop and Michigan Cafe has cheaper food. I will come back to get take out to take home. Since there is a door to the parking lot, if you want to stop to get that quality hot food with driving far from Dearborn, you can do the same.

Yelp
This kind of place is an example of what you see is what you get. The food is preprepared and placed under heat lamps for you to choose. So it's not the most fresh or hot food, but it's palatable. Shouldn't be expecting restaurant quality food, it's on par with upscale grocery store deli food. The prices are also on par for airport food - overpriced but so is everything else here so it's actually average - about $20 a person for food. This place is just convenient if you don't have the time for a formal sit down restaurant, but don't want to grab a refrigerated sandwich from Hudson News.

Yelp
I love Plum Market! I also love the Henry Ford! It is a nice mix to have Plum Market inside the Henry Ford museum! Plum Market is an upscale market and place to get food. It is organic, healthy and has many vegan options, expensive but well worth it! There also is a bar, beer and wine only! The Plum Market is located in a big cafeteria area where people who just brought their own bag lunch are amongst the customers who are buying at Plum. The Henry Ford used to have other options for food, more affordable and other types of cafeterias to bring your bagged lunch. Plum Market has become the only option for food to buy in the museum and it is inside the only cafeteria where everyone else is. Just wish the Plum Market area were to be in a more private setting.

Yelp
Yay for some healthy choices at Detroit Metro Airport. There is a wide selection of various foods including vegan and gluten free. I ordered the cauliflower tacos which had some nice flavor. The tortillas were grilled and crunchy and I like them that way. I got the honey brussel sprouts which were hard and the kale slaw which was very bland. The service was pleasant and engaging. I will try some other selections at Plum my next layover in Detroit. Not ready to give up on them. Large selection of food.
