The rooms are rustic with metalic and stone decor and furnishings and they have beautiful views but lack common amenities like bathtubs, AC or microwaves. The walls are very thin and you can hear every little noise someone makes from the hallway. All in all, its in a great location and perfect for getting out and enjoying Tahoe, just not the best for resting and relaxing.

We had our wedding here in June 2025 and we had an amazing time! Working with Rob, Kerri, and the entire PJ staff was easy and pleasant. Everyone was very polite and accommodating. The wedding itself was beautiful and ran very smoothly! Our guests also loved staying at the inn and spoke very highly of the staff. Special shoutout to Taryn for her hospitality!

I was really looking forward to my stay at PlumpJack Inn, but unfortunately, it did not live up to expectations. The biggest issue was the service—staff were indifferent and not particularly helpful. Any request felt like a burden, and there was a noticeable lack of hospitality for the price point. The rooms were outdated and not well-maintained. My room had a musty smell, the furniture looked worn, and the cleanliness left much to be desired. For what they charge, I expected a much higher level of comfort and upkeep. Additionally, the noise levels were a problem. Thin walls meant I could hear everything from the hallways and neighboring rooms, making it difficult to get a good night’s sleep. The restaurant was another disappointment—overpriced food that didn’t match the quality you’d expect from a place with this reputation. Overall, this was not worth the money. With so many other great options in the area, I wouldn’t stay here again.

Ideal location to all of the activities in the Olympic Village. Restaurant food was good. Hard to get a call back on the reservation. Loved the region perfect distance for Tahoe City.

We were frustrated by a number of issues during our stay, one after the other. We stayed in the penthouse suite over the 4th of July weekend. The location was very good and some of the staff were truly lovely. However I don't think we will be staying here again. Details follow. 1. We had significant issues accessing our room. I had to go to the front desk no fewer than 4 times to ask for a new room key, as none of our room keys could open the door reliably. I really mean it, we had 3 people try 3 different keys, swiping the key slow, swiping fast, slow then fast, you name it, it didn't work. Sometimes we could open it after 30-40 tries, sometimes not at all. One front desk worker said not to keep the key next to a cell phone. I made absolutely sure to keep that new key in a pocket by itself, and it still had the same issue. This annoyance was magnified by having to go up and down 2 flights of stairs, (there's no elevator here FYI), about half the time we wanted to enter our room. 2. On arrival, the A/C in the penthouse suite was stuck blowing cold air. The thermostat would not turn off the A/C no matter what you did, even turning it off completely, or turning it to heat mode, etc - it was 67F and still blowing more cold air. They sent up a maintenance person, who spent the first 5 minutes assuming I was an idiot who didn't know how to use a thermostat. Then while I was standing in a stream of cold air waiting for his diagnosis, he felt for cold air using his hand... in the wrong spot, when I tried to tell him where to feel for the air, he cut me off and said nope it wasn't blowing. I couldn't get a word in edgewise with him. It took him a while, but he finally realized for himself there was a true malfunction of the system and he ultimately fixed it, but afterward the A/C could no longer be set colder than 72F, which was above my comfort level in the evenings. 3. Some of the staff was very friendly and accommodating, some were a bit short with us, borderline dismissive. One front desk worker was happy to fill up water bottles, another sorta refused and directed me to fill up at a dispenser which I felt had gone bitter from lemons floating it it for too long. One ignored my son completely when he went to ask for water. 4. The room cleaning service was very poor. They quickly came in and made the bed, gave us towels, but neglected just about anything else. They ignored pretty significant stuff like a dirty toilet used by 4 people, they didn't refill the coffee pods, didn't provide clean water glasses, wine glasses, or mugs, didn't refill the empty tissue dispenser. Then I politely asked for those things specifically. One lady took down a note, but those tasks still weren't done. I later asked a second time, mentioning that these things weren't done despite 2 days going by and my asking specifically. Finally, to make a show of it as if to say "will you please stop bothering us", they left us 4 extra coffee mugs and a whole bunch of unwanted decaf coffee and a crazy amount of sugar. Meanwhile, they still would not clear the dirty cups or give us tissues, did not provide clean water or wine glasses. The list goes on, the carpet looked and felt filthy and was pulling up in the middle of the living room, it needed to be replaced ages ago. There were beer cans haphazardly thrown into the bin in the fridge, covered with sticky goo from a previous drink leaking on them. 5. This is a dog friendly hotel and I received what I believe to be several flea bites on my leg. I grew up with dogs and have had enough flea bites to easily identify them, super itchy little red bumps in little semi-linear tracks on my leg.

Google
Do not use Expedia for godsake , the hotel will double charge you due to an extremely high level of incompetence. Rooms do not have A/C so you have to have the windows open, so much for privacy. Stuck in Reno now with a negative bank account due to these idiots. But hey! 5 - 10 business days should get my money back!! Thanks Plumpjack!!

It begins and ends with the people at any of the PlumpJack properties. Whether you go to the winery, bottle shop or this inn in Palisades, you can always count on a great experience ! Terran(sp), Andrea and Claudia at the front desk are caring and went out of the way to make sure our stay was beyond our expectations. It’s the people darn it!

My understanding that the hotel is going to be replaced with a new hotel. The service was great, the physical plant is aging and needs to be upgraded. You can’t beat their location!

Yelp
I would give this place a 2.5. You're paying the high prices only for the location. We booked this place off a travel website and needed a place that was walking distance to the mountain so we could easily come back and check on our pup. The king room was good size and the bathroom was very spacious. The system for the mini bar was just beers in the fridge with some bottles of wine available for purchase on the counter. I was expecting a bit more since it was lacking mini bottles of spirits. There was no microwave which was a bit disappointing. I wanted to pop some popcorn. There was no covered parking for our car. With the snowy weather being very common I was surprised this wasn't available. Pros: very accommodating for our dog. There was a dog-bed with treats and food bowls at the ready. The staff helped us with our bag up the stairs since there was no lift. They can hold your skis so you can easily pick them up at the front desk in the morning. We didn't get a chance to eat a the cafe or check out the jacuzzi.

Yelp
To start with the obvious, the property is older. That said, it is clean and has everything you need. The parking was close to the entrance to the rooms. Even during the 4th of July holiday, there was ample parking. I booked this right after the new year anticipating a 4th of July ski day due to the amounts of snow. I was thinking it would be Palisades that was open and not Alpine Meadows, but it worked out ok. They offered shuttle service back and forth but I had already purchased a parking pass. The rooms had clean linens, ample area for luggage and clean bathrooms. When we requested extra towels they were delivered promptly. The check in process was easy and fast. The only two complaints would be the pool and the food options. Online it said they had a pool. They do. It is about 3 feet deep. Though I understand that's a pool it wasn't really something you could relax and float in. I wish I had known it was basically a large bathtub so I could have brought a pool float or something to make it more enjoyable. They did have two hot tubs so that was nice. The towels at the pool are also kind of hidden in a storage container so without the help of another guest, we probably would have spent quite awhile looking for them! The other compliant is the food. I understand it was off season but during our three day stay, the restaurant was never open. The bar was open but nothing dining related was available. Spots in the village were open which was fine, but onsite would have been nice. That said, this spot worked well for my wife and I and our 4th of July staycation activities.

Yelp
My husband and I got married at the end of September and still can't stop talking about how incredible our wedding was at PlumpJack. Not only was the venue in the most stunning location with beautiful views (especially with the fall colors), the team we worked with at PJ were absolutely wonderful. I firmly believe the group of people who are tasked with organizing and executing your wedding day can make or break the day, and we couldn't have been happier. We owe a HUGE thank you to Sarah, Bonnie, Rob and the rest of their team who made our wedding day perfect and far better than anything we could have expected. From the initial venue tour, to the many emails to ensure every detail was perfect, the accommodations made, and executing everything seamlessly on our wedding, I can say with full confidence we would do it all over again in a heartbeat. We are so happy with our decision to have our wedding at PlumpJack. Not only was the staff wonderful, and the location super dreamy, but the food was AMAZING. We chose to serve our guests fish and steak, and we were so impressed with how it turned out! We also really enjoyed the drink selections and know our guests did too! If you are looking for a venue that has it all, PlumpJack is the place- you will not be disappointed!

Yelp
Have you ever been somewhere where you swear everyone who works there must be related because they all have the same cheerful demeanor and attitude? Well, Plumpjack exudes family-style hospitality. If you're there to ski, you're less than a three-minute walk to the lifts and the village, maybe five minutes if you're wearing ski boots. I was there for a friend's wedding. They did a tremendous job on all fronts. The rooms were adequate, the food was good, and again, the staff was fantastic. They go the extra mile if you have any requests. They could write to book on creating a great customer experience! There are no elevators so keep that in mind. Also, I could hear the people above me clomping around throughout the day. I think they must have kept their ski boots on all the time, and spent the rest of their time dropping their luggage on the floor. Talk about harshing one's mellow!! Anyway, even the noisy clodhoppers above me couldn't sway my opinion of loving my stay at PlumpJack Inn!

Erica S.

Yelp
This is a motel. This is not a resort. Pro: location for skiing is excellent. Con: the rooms are threadbare, old torn carpet and furniture, thin sheets, lumpy beds and pillows, no blackout shades on windows. You hear everything outside: cars, people, luggage, etc. Cost: on a peak weekend we're paying $695/night with a 2 night minimum and a $28/night resort fee I will never come back.

Yelp
I've always wanted to stay at the PlumpJack inn in the palisades. I love snowboarding and finding great ski in ski out locations are always a dream. PlumpJack just wasn't it. I would actually compare this inn to a motel for the room condition and service. I stayed on the first floor and noise was absolutely horrendous--you can hear everything on the floor above you. Suitcases sound like the train. I was also surprised when I had checked out and found out they were charging me for a bunch of things that I didn't use--so surprised I gave him my room number because I wasn't sure if it he was looking at the correct room. The guy at the register jokingly said if you didn't drink all the waters who did? I didn't find it funny because I didn't touch the water/food in the room. Check your bill and do not expect resort conditions even though you have to pay a resort fee.

Yelp
5 stars for the hotel staff, 3 stars for the accommodations. PlumpJack Inn is dated, the rooms are pretty minimal though they are clean, but the furnishing are tired. However the restaurant, PlumpJack Cafe has a nice, cozy atmosphere and although we didn't get to sample the menu, the food looked very good. Overall this place feels neglected, but you don't stay here for the ambience, you stay here because it's dog friendly and steps from The Village and chair lifts. That said, the staff is incredibly friendly and attentive. Mark is a prince among men, offering to help us change the flat tire on our rental car for the spare in the parking lot at 8AM. The hotel needs a renovation but we enjoyed our stay.

Samara T.

Yelp
Really enjoyed our stay here. The staff was so friendly and easily accommodated any request we had. Appreciated that it was basically ski in/out, right in the village, and super dog friendly.

Yelp
This review is solely on the customer service we received from Andrea and Michelle at the front desk of Plump Jack Inn in December 2022. The team at plump jack inn have gone above and beyond to help my partner and I after our trip to Tahoe had to be changed due to a severe snow storm. After driving four hours on a Friday afternoon from the Bay Area, we arrived at PJI to learn of a snow storm that would bring 100mph winds and close down the roads through Sunday. All the lifts at Squaw were also going to be tentatively shut down on Saturday (the only day we would have been able to ski). Given we needed to be back home by Sunday night - there was no chance we'd be able to stay for our highly anticipated ski trip that was months in planning. As we were exhausted, frustrated, and embarrassed at our poor planning, Andrea and Michelle stepped in and made us feel better. They helped us reschedule our trip and were beyond kind in the process. Additionally, they gave us tips on where to stop along the route home (at that point, we were preparing to drive ~8 hours round trip in one afternoon/evening). We made it home and avoided the road closures that went on for the whole weekend. I've spoken to Andrea over the phone since our trip and she is always courteous yet clear and direct. I appreciate that! Andrea, Michelle, and the team at PJI have our loyalty. Thank you for helping us find calm and humor in what felt like such a disaster!!

Yelp
This review is for the Bar and cocktails ONLY! We wandered into PlumpJack on a eerily quiet Thursday night. We were the only ones in there, this enabled us to pick the bartender Jake's brain on the best craft cocktails on the menu. We were flat out amazed, these were some of the finest craft cocktails I've ever had. We came to learn that Jake and his fellow bartenders put a ton of cultural and ethnic research into their drink recipes. To make it even more amazing he said they started mixing different ingredients from different cultural regions, which produced some amazing results. The last two cocktails, wish I could remember their name, but one was a lavender gin cocktail and the other a spicy mezcal drink. They change the drink menu up frequently, so my recommendation, just tell bartender "dealers choice" and you won't be disappointed!

Yelp
I stayed at PlumpJack for a wedding recently, and was continually disappointed. Not to say there obviously weren't factors directly due to the pandemic, but the staff at Plumpjack made a number of situations entirely worse by their choices/actions. To start, Plumpjack changed the wedding reception from what was already scheduled to be indoors, to outdoors. They did this only 6 weeks out from the day of the wedding. The bride and groom were not given a choice, this was forced upon them almost at the last minute leaving them to frantically scramble. Not only that, Plumpjack raised the cost of the wedding at this time too. The amount had already been agreed upon and set, yet Plumpjack did not honor this. To top it off, the staff during the wedding events made rude remarks. As an example, the wedding planner asked the staff to change the guests water glasses. Leaves and dirt had flown into the water glasses from the trees because the dinner was now outdoors. One of the staff responded in a condescending tone "well, they CHOSE to have their wedding outside." Even IF they had chosen to have the wedding outdoors, why wouldn't you want your guests to have an optimal and enjoyable experience at your hotel? This came across as unprofessional and outright disrespectful. There were some exceptionally helpful staff, however, it was not enough to make up for the overall experience. Another component of my disappointment was the lack of air conditioning. Not a single room had air conditioning. The top floor of rooms was oppressively hot. So hot you would be sweating doing absolutely nothing in a tank and shorts. That combined with an unexpected heat wave made the stay at Plumpjack miserable in that regard. There was also no elevator. Thus, everyone had to carry their luggage up the multiple flights of stairs. No bellhop or staff offered to help. I understand they are most likely short-staffed due to the pandemic. The hotel itself was decent. Typical room and property accommodations. Slightly outdated, but I would assume most of the guests spend their time outside anyways. The exterior of the property itself is obviously beautiful and that is the Plumpjack's saving grace. I would not stay here again, and I would not recommend Plumpjack Inn to anyone.

Yelp
First time ever visiting Squaw Valley/Tahoe area and could not have asked for a better experience! I was immediately charmed by the cozy aesthetic and the incredibly attentive staff as soon as we arrived. We were welcomed with a bottle of wine and bowl of popcorn (that was actually incredible!) and were ready to start exploring. When we spoke to the gentleman at the front desk, we were recommended one of the most beautiful trails I've ever hiked and were taken with how gorgeous the entire area is. Upon our return back to the hotel, we ended up renting a few bikes and doing some more exploring. The fact that you can rent a bike WITH a basket and ride around the grounds is one of the most charming and whimsical ideas and it really added to our experience. We loved our room, it had everything we needed and it took everything in me not to take every single bottle of soap/shampoo/conditioner because they all smelled incredible! Overall, it was an amazing experience that I definitely plan on repeating. The entire staff was a pleasure, everyone was more than friendly and attentive and were quick to offer some great ideas to enhance our stay and visit in the area. Thank you for a wonderful time!

Yelp
The hospitality at Plumpjack in is outstanding. A big shout out to Ricky for going above and making us feel extremely welcomed. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and made many great memories. This place is great, it has all the amenities you need including food, clothes, recreational activities. I highly recommend Plump Jack Inn over the bougie other hotels here and tahoe area. Our dog enjoyed it too and they treated him like family. Thanks guy! We'll be back

Yelp
This used to be a great place to stay but the last time I stayed there it was bad! 1) The servers in the bar area for breakfast were rating women on a number scale and it was really weird! One woman who worked their would ask this guy what number he thought someone was and he would answer and they would do it right in front of people but people are so focused on the food and their kids they weren't paying much attention to the workers but I heard it all! Totally UNPROFESSIONAL!! I have to say that the food is pretty good but listening to these fools was embarrassing and awkward. The rooms have gone downhill somehow. My mother in law had a separate room from ours and she was not happy with her room cleanliness wise when compared to the money she spent. Dogs were barking as people left their dogs in the rooms. Kids were jumping on beds and you can feel it and hear it. I think with the addition of dogs in the rooms that the carpets are looking worn and dirty and smell a bit. This place has a great location and used to be great before Plumpjack bought it.

Yelp
Horrible place. Spent the weekend here and woke up Saturday morning to not running hot water. No one in the hotel seemed to know why and actually made you feel like they really didn't care. We were with a large group and we tried to enjoy drinks and food at the cafe. Unfortunately, the staff and manager made us feel like we were bothering them. We had to hunt down the waitress several times just to order our drinks. We also had to turn on heaters for ourselves outside as no one from the hotel staff came out to offer assistance. The cafe was also closed until the evening so you couldn't get breakfast and/or a cup of coffee in the morning with you and your family. There is no elevator in the building and it has 3 floors. Stairs, hallways, and rooms are covered in old dirty carpet. I can only imagine what is on that carpet. Will never visit this place again.

Yelp
This place sucks. Noisy. Lousy service. Amenities that you pay for that you can't use. WiFi doesn't work. Did I mention this place is noisy??! Not only are the guests noisy, but so is the staff! A wedding party kept my daughter and I up into the middle of the night, then the staff had loud conversations and laughter at 7am the next morning! People are stomping around, talking loudly, slamming doors, etc. I am exhausted! The wedding party prevented us from using the pool. We went to the restaurant to try to eat something. We waited for 10 minutes before finally getting up to leave because no one came to our table. This stay has been extremely frustrating and I will not recommend this place to anyone.

Yelp
I couldn't believe how much PlumpJack Inn had to offer until after our stay here for 3 nights. We were looking for a dog-friendly hotel in the area and this came up on top of the list. I called a couple of times to confirm on bringing our golden retriever and making sure it was ok to check-in at 1 am at night. The staffs over the phone were super nice and accommodating. They said they're 24/7 and asked me what size my dog is so they can provide him a bed and bowls. This warmed my heart immediately. They put us in a first-floor room on one side of the hotel that is more shaded so our room stays mostly cool during the summer weather. The king bed was a little too soft but still comfy, and we appreciate the clean white sheets and towels. The bathroom was nice and spacious. We love how close it was to the outdoor pool and hot tubs which we got to enjoy every day. The breakfast bar is awesome. It had a little bit of everything and was made fresh. And at night time we really enjoyed the cocktails and the amazing peach cobbler dessert. Love how our pup was able to join us in the outdoor seating areas too. And we completely regret not having dinner here after having a mediocre dinner experience at a restaurant in Squaw Creek Resort!! The inn is convenient and across the village with all the shops and restaurants. We didn't have trouble finding parking. We absolutely loved how they provided a list of doggy friendly restaurants and beaches we can visit. We truly appreciate all the little details at PlumpJack Inn and it truly made our stay relaxing. We can not wait to come back again!

Yelp
The worst hotel we have stayed in decades. The first room wreaked of mold, the second and last was filthy, dated and the worst bed in history. We were here for a concert, last room in town. We would have been better off in a tent, and I don't camp! Tear this dump down and build a quality hotel!

Stewart K.

Yelp
The accommodations for this hotel are perfectly acceptable. Beds were comfortable, rooms were clean, and bathrooms were well-stocked. It's a step below in terms of niceness compared to the nearby Resort at Squaw Creek, but the price is also appropriately lower. However, this review is mostly regarding the hotel's customer service. When we had to leave in a hurry due to a medical emergency, the hotel staff offered us a refund on the night not stayed. Because we left a jacket behind in the room when we left, the hotel called us about mailing the jacket back to us. Just based off of the staff's customer service, we would stay here again.

Yelp
Pro: 1. Convenient location. Right in the village and walking distance to the lifts. 2. Allows pets with a $150 cleaning fee. The only hotel in Squaw Valley that allows non service dogs. 3. Clean rooms and decent service, if you are paying less than 200. Fits a 3 star hotel - some aspects 4 star. If you are expecting 5-star luxury, you would be disappointed and the room is a "con". Con: 1. Non-existent lobby, very noisy and crowded. 2. In ski season, they charge 500 plus for a regular room. You would be much better off staying at Squaw Valley Lodge or others in the village. The same price would get you a suite. 3. Hidden fees. They charge a $19.80 resort fee which is hidden on the reservation page (needs to click through a link). The total wasn't shown until one confirms payment and cannot cancel. I am ok with hotels charging extra fees but if the fee is mandatory it should be clearly shown before one makes the reservation. Other hotels in Squaw charge resort fees but show them much more clearly. 4. Some staff are dishonest. a. I requested a late check-out until 3pm for one of my two rooms. They wanted to charge half of a day (though they have plenty of vacancies). I agreed to it, only to find out that they charged half of the peak day rate, not the actual rate of the day I checked out. The difference in rate is over $200. When I pointed it out to the front desk staff, they sheepishly changed it, with no apology. b. I suggested to them that they should change their website booking to reflect resort fees more clearly. They were annoyed, denied the problem, and said that only 1 out of 400 guests complained about the fee.

Yelp
The included breakfast was the best thing about this place. Sorely missed ! Amazing they don't even have coffee in the lobby. Seems like they are just biding there time until they are turned into condos.

Yelp
Their version of mulled wine is really good but is on the small size scale. It's nice and Cozy by the fire!

Yelp
The location gets 5 stars. The hotel gets 3. The bed was rock hard, the sheets not very soft, the light switch to the bed light broken, no microwave, and the lighting in the bathroom very poor. For the price, there are many improvements needed.

Yelp
Here's the skinny, Expect a old, vintage experience and you will be thrilled. Expect new everything and u will be disappointed. Hotel needs a major renovation for sure, but I'll come back no doubt. Convenient ski in ski out. Food is exceptional, service amazing. U are in the mountains, expect a little dated hotel in the best setting in the world.

Yelp
My favorite place to stay in Squaw Valley, if not all of Tahoe. Through extensive renovation, design sense, and strong management they've turned formerly run down budget lodge into a tom-notchb full service boutique hotel. It's not as grand or expensive looking as the bigger hotels, and it's not a five star urban hotel in terms of all the services, but it's a lot more refined and attentive than your other options here. If you like boutique hotels you know the routine -- wine hour (sometimes), concierge, convenience and luxury and hip style over fanciness. Only here, the style is not ultra-modern or retro, but ski indulgence. This would be one of the best hotels in, say, Aspen. They've got a first-class restaurant downstairs where they serve a thoughtful breakfast buffet -- fresh fruit, homemade granola, etc.

Yelp
We stayed at plumpjack for a summertime wedding and thought the grounds were beautiful. The place is tastefully decorated, the grounds were gorgeous for the wedding, and we really appreciated the free bikes you can take for that mid-afternoon bike ride out to the meadow. Overall, it's a great location if you can deal with the price.

Yelp
The pictures are lies. This hotel is beat up and runned down. The service was 1 star just because I can't put it any lower than that. Was not impressed at the slightest with this hotel. Not sure who owns PlumpJack but if I was the owner I would be at the hotel making sure it was clean, presentable, and employees have better attitudes.

Yelp
What a disappointment!!! Came in the summer, stayed in the penthouse sweet that was so rundown that there were constant issues! Furniture looked like an army had used and abused it. No elevator so you are hauling your own luggage like you are staying at a Motel 6. Service was at about the same level as a crappy La Quinta. The pool area is disgusting at best. The so called included breakfast was trumped by any Holiday Inn Express. My family will never stay at any of this chains hotels and I will be sure to advise any of my friends to steer way clear! I will be writing the corporate office as Soon as we get back home. Waste of money, stay somewhere where they actually want you to be there! They kept telling us that all the services were diminished because there were only 3 rented rooms, don't see how this is our problem. Maybe best to close for the summer and do a serious remodel!!! So frustrated and cheated!

Bill C.

Yelp
the woman who checked us in was actually great - very engaging. Your housekeeping staff was kind..although they failed to clean our room on the 2nd day. Other staff.. not so much. Where you really take a giant hit is the comfort of your rooms.  Nothing more than a slightly decorative Motel 6. Example: The bed is broken down and is way over due to be replaced. The walls are thin, and I was repeatedly awakened by the sound of pipes all night long. There isn't a single drawer in which to place personal items, unless you want to count that ridiculous mini rattan tower. The only air is an overhead fan and a miniature plastic fan next to the window, which circulate hot air. And I have never stayed in a room without a comfortable chair. Two stiff 90 degree dining room type chairs just don't cut it. Nowhere to sit comfortably. The television appears to be an old 32" early circa flat screen. Your website  misrepresents your product - our king size room certainly did not look like what was pictured. Come on, PlumpJack, this is a terrible representation of your brand. It's embarrassing. I will not stay here again or recommend your establishment to any friends or family.

Yelp
Our stay was fine and the staff was friendly. We loved the convenience and the dog-friendly nature of the hotel. The breakfast bar was on par with a 3-star hotel (basic). The rooms and the hot tubs are starting to feel pretty dated and tired. I understand they are about to take on a remodel. I would have gone with a 3 or 4 stars BUT after our drive home, I realized that I left an item in our room. We called the same night we checked out. The front desk staff seemed unconcerned and had no detail on a process for recovering lost items (most hotels have a pretty meticulous process for this). We followed up with an email with a picture of the item. No response. We followed up with a second call and the staff had no information and didn't offer any indication that we would get a call back or that they were interested in helping. If I did this at a standard roadside motel, I would expect as much, but for a place that bills itself as a "luxury hotel" this is an epic fail.

Yelp
Perfect location, immaculate rooms and a great restaurant and bar, what more do you need? After a one-nighter in Tahoe City, we got snobby and wanted to stay at Squaw for some easy ski in ski out, apres ski and stumble back to your room. Just walking in the room provided instant relaxation. The room was very spacious accommodating all your ski and boarding equipment, plus a huge bathroom with slate tile and lovely bath amenities. I've never had the privilege of a ski in and out room. Now i don't think i can go back to the pack up your car and sit in the front seat trying to pry off your ski boots type of experience. Free breakfast is included with your room rate which was served in the bar area. Hot and cold items are served, which is a nice change of pace from the typical cold pastry and soft red apple continental breakfast. Definitely hit up the bar for a cocktail and appetizer or better yet, splurge at the restaurant.

Yelp
The manager tonight was completely rude and inflexible to myself and to my group of friends. We were a walk in group the Restraunt was completely empty and he suggested us to eat in the bar! It was rude and made us feel crappy!! The food was just ok but the manager was terrible absolutely no personality!!! I will never go there again!

Yelp
Had to set-up heat lamps and umbrellas on our own, even though we informed staff a large group would be going outside (forecasted for light rain and it was cold) for drinks and cigars. More than half of the heat lamps didn't work. The food and beverage manager comes out and sees that we had brought drinks of our own (2 bottles with a group of 10+) and in a very condescending manner said "we do have a full service bar inside". Never mind the fact that we had already spent a few hundred at the bar the night before, more on this night and the next (easily +$2k). His unprofessional and contentious manner didn't stop there. What happens next is inexcusable and deplorable and destroyed what was a great trip and experience until then (despite his manner on the patio). While parents were enjoying drinks/food/cigars in the patio area outside the restaurant, some of our boys wanted to have dinner in the restaurant. I escorted them in and the same food and beverage manager says "oh you again". I have no words for how to respond to that, whatever. I let him know the boys will be having dinner and I would prefer a window seat for them. There were 3 open window seats. He said they all had reservations, but could seat them in the bar area (they are minors). I said your kidding right, that doesn't work so you need to find them a seat in the restaurant and again window is preferred. He sat them in the back of the restaurant and the entire time I was on the patio watching, the window seats stayed empty. Really unfortunate how the inappropriate and shameful actions of one individual can negatively impact the experience for someone and future profits for a business. Good luck and have a nice life food and beverage guy!

Yelp
We loved this hotel!! The rate for summer was amazing, the free breakfast buffet was delicious and filling, and the hot tub was fabulous! Bill, the young man at the front desk was incredibly helpful! The location was superb as my family was staying in Alpine Meadows and we loved having a Starbucks! The fiberglass hot tub could use a cleaning and the pool needs repainting. The landscaping and architecture are gorgeous and it was quiet and relaxing!!

Yelp
I was absolutely blown away and very pleased by our time spent at PlumpJack Squaw Valley Inn! My husband and I spent one week at PlumpJack Squaw Valley Inn to celebrate our honeymoon. I highly recommend staying here if you are looking for a quiet, romantic, and charming place to stay! All of their employees work very hard to make sure you have everything you need every single day! Bill (an employee at PlumpJack) went the extra mile to make our honeymoon stay feel very special. Upon our arrival into our room, there were beautiful rose petals placed on our bed with a bottle of wine with 2 wine glasses! Bill even provided my husband with dumbbell weights to take to our room since their gym was closed due to COVID-19. It was a very nice surprise that made our stay feel very special! We also enjoyed waking up every morning and getting a free cup of coffee at the front desk from Rickey and Taryn. Taryn, Bill and Rickey all took time to share with us their favorite places and activities in Lake Tahoe. The location was perfect and we felt like we were right in the middle of everything we wanted to do! About a 30 min drive to north Lake Tahoe, 1 hr drive to South Lake Tahoe, and 30 min drive to Truckee. The scenery around the Inn was absolutely stunning and there are tons of restaurants and shops nearby the PlumpJack Squaw Valley Inn. PlumpJack Squaw Valley Inn is very clean!! We stayed in the Poulsen suite with AC! We happened to be visiting during a heat wave in California so I do recommend staying in the suite with air conditioning if this heat wave happens during your stay! Thank you again to all of the staff at PlumpJack Squaw Valley Inn, but especially to Bill because he was the first person I talked to on the phone when trying to decide where to stay during our visit! He was so polite, kind and genuinely a great guy. Meeting him in person was the best! You truly do get everything the staff tells you over the phone and more!! Thank you for making our honeymoon the best trip yet!

Yelp
Spent three nights during the week at PlumpJack. Definitely come early in the week if you want to avoid big crowds. This is the only inn that allows dogs, so we didn't have many choices to stay since we wanted to bring our dog. We were pretty much content during our stay. We had the king bed room on the first floor--it was just a regular room with a big bed, table and bathroom. If you have a dog, they'll provide a dog bed and bowls along with two milkbone treats. We ordered room service for most nights. We enjoyed the food--it was definitely "fine dining" type of food. The employees were very friendly. The only gripes we had was that the wifi was spotty, there was noise throughout the day (people cleaning, water pipes, workers outside shoveling snow) and our smoke detector had the low battery beep every now and then. Also, the cell reception was pretty weak, and we have Verizon. If you're here to enjoy the mountains, this will be no problem for you, but for those that just want to relax and be lazy and stay in, this could be an issue. We would come back again.

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic. We (myself + hubby + baby) recently stayed here for a wedding in the Village, and I am so glad we choose this hotel from the many offerings in the area! A true boutique hotel (not like others who only count the # of rooms, and call it a day). Staff is incredibly helpful in so many ways, making you feel welcome and comfortable from the moment you drive up. I also appreciated that they were very transparent in explaining all of the offerings and services they have (valet = free, rentals = discounted, breakfast = free, resort fee = reasonably and necessary). Kevin was on staff for the majority of our stay, and I want to send out a huge thanks to him for making the long weekend one to remember. We checked in late afternoon and were offered a glass of wine while we got everything set up. Not only did I respond with a "you bet!", but it was actually a very good Napa Cab - thank you for that. Unfortunately, time did not allow for a ski trip this round, but what a great place to stay if you did. They hold all your gear up front for you (uber convenient), and you are literally steps from the base of the mountain. Timing did allow for us to have an early dinner/late HH in the bar area, and I was fully impressed. Our waitress was helpful, friendly and on point with recommendations and compliments to our [very active] 10-month old. Bartender made one of the best hot toddys that I have ever had, and I am still dreaming of their burger. Breakfast was stellar as well: their housemade granola is not quite the healthiest of options, but man, so good! Farm fresh eggs were fluffy and always fresh and hot; great breads for toasting, fresh yogurt, strong coffee, Mighty Leaf tea, and either bacon or breakfast sausage. I have a huge appetite, and this was perfect. Room was modern and clean with everything you could want (including spa sandals to plop around after your shower) and nothing that you didn't. We had a room on the first floor, and it felt like having our own cottage :-) I will make 1 comment that the housekeeping staff - friendly and efficient - were a bit rowdy down the hallway ~ 9:30-11am each day. I only notice this so much as this is our child's prime nap time, so we had to use the white noise app to ensure that everyone got the benefit of that nap! If (when?!) we return, I hope to stay at Plumpjack hands down.

Yelp
5 stars for their breakfast buffet. We stayed at The Village Resort next door and were starving for some breakfast when we came upon this deal. The buffet offered everything you could think of. My favorite was their granola blend and their coffee cake loaf. And must I not forget to mention, the unlimited bacon! I'd definitely stop here again on my future visits.

Yelp
If I could give Plumpjack more than five stars I would, every single time. From our perfect wedding to our stays, this place has become our sanctuary. The staff is beyond phenomenal, the food is to die for, and we couldn't ask for a better experience. Consider yourself lucky if you ever visit PlumpJack

Yelp
I stayed 3 nights here while attending my best friends wedding on-site. Beautiful location. They have high-quality bikes available at the front for rides anytime (I went on morning bike rides during my stay - and the site is gorgeous). The staff was the most accommodating staff I've ever met. Seriously, maybe it was the high altitude, but every receptionist was smiling, and happy to be there. Be sure to buy their homemade granola. I bought extra for family gifts - only $12/bag - and best granola ever.

Yelp
Sorry Gav. I love you. I do. I think you are a wonderful mayor to the fine city of San Francisco. And you are very handsome. And yes, want to touch the hiney. But, I wasn't impressed with Plumpjack of Squaw Valley. The ambiance is sexy, I must admit. And I wouldn't expect anything less of you. The snow was falling outside, the air was chilly and there was someone special(ish) with me. But, you see, Gavin, my table, it wasn't ready. And that, well, that was just the beginning. Had you been there waiting for me, I probably would have been a little more excited. But you weren't. And yes, we did bring our own wine. The same wine that was on your extensive wine list for over $100.00 was at Costco for under $60 (that's how we roll, though...) Salad course was alright. Nothing to write home about. I had a Butter Lettuce with Flame Grapes and Blue Cheese. And let me tell you, there weren't nearly enough Grapes and Cheese in there. My dining partner had Shrimp three ways. Who isn't a fan of a little 3-way action? Come on??? Mr. Mayor, even you must be down for a little of that once in a while? But, sir, they brought him Shrimp Gratinee. It was a shrimp flavored slushee. And with all due respect, it was grody. I puked in my mouth a little. We moved on to mains where my companion fared much better than I, with steaks done up a duex. It was well prepared, and very nicely presented. Sadly, my fish was overcooked, and had almond froth on the plate, which I don't see as serving much of a purpose besides looking like sea foam. At dessert we went for the 3-way again. Honestly, I can't stay away! Call me crazy, Mr. Mayor -- but I love em! Peanut Butter and Chocolate done three times. Orgasm on a plate. However the best one was a PB and Chocolate Milkshake served in a teensy weensy glass with a teensy weensy straw. And we fought over it. I almost punched my date in the arm when I heard the gurgling sound of the last delicious remnants being drained from that little glass. So not only was the food eh, but by the end of the meal you caused a rift between by date and I over a PB and Chocolate Milkshake. Yeah, I know. We don't like each other that much anyway... If you would like to take me back for a second opinion, please PM me and I will happily accept. 3-Way can be on, or with me. Thanks! Happy New Year. Yours, Rachel G.

Yelp
I came here for a conference dinner. Basically, the conference attendees occupied the entire dining room. The only unfortunate thing about my dinner here was that the dining room is too small to accommodate a group of 50 people. Of course there are few restaurants that can easily accommodate a group that size. However, the restaurant did its best to make everyone comfortable. I ended up sitting with one of my coworkers at a table for two. We enjoyed the conversation, but it also would have been nice to be included in the larger group. The food was good. I had a sirloin steak that was very well cooked. My coworker enjoyed her salmon. I do not know how much dinners are here because I was not paying. However, the service seems to be very good. The servers were attentive and responsive. If I am ever back in the area, I will give Plump Jack a try.

Yelp
Beautiful and spacious rooms with minimal décor so it keeps with the "in the woods" theme. The beds were comfy and the sheets smelled fresh out the dryer clean! The resort is always clean despite the fact we're allowed to wear our skis inside. They offer a free breakfast buffet and they're not just pastries, they've got some good stuff like eggs, pancakes, sausages and bagels. There's an outdoor pool and jacuzzi although it's way too cold to be skinny dipping this time of year! The staff is friendly but don't expect a bellhop to fetch your luggage, you have to lug that yourself. Prices range $200 -$700 a night. A must stay at least once when visiting Squaw.

Yelp
First Star: Location is optimal and they have bicycles you can borrow for free to ride around the amazing bike trails when it's not snowy season. Second Star: The staff is super awesome, super friendly, and super knowledgeable whether I'm asking them stupid tourist questions at 2am or 6am. Minus Stars: Have you seen the prices?? I don't mind paying for a nice hotel, but this was not that. Walls are paper thin, rooms were chilly (and it wasn't even snowing yet), room was not very clean and seemed drabby. If I am paying $300/nt plus a resort fee, I expect something better.

Yelp
I just returned from a wedding at Plumpjacks and am not sure I would return... The good: -the staff was friendly and attentive -the food was hit or miss (included breakfast, ahi sandwich and steak: good, salads and sides: eh) -the wedding was beautiful (I credit my friends and their planner for that, but will list under the good) -hotel interior is lush and sexy -great location The bad: -the walls are paper thin, I could hear everything going on in the hallway and neighboring rooms while trying to sleep off my post wedding hangover -overpriced (even with our group rate) -small pool and hot tubs -room interior, more eh I left with mixed feelings, nothing really wowed me...maybe I expect more from Gavvy.

Yelp
Great location steps away from Squaw Valley's lifts, nice staff, decent amenities, free breakfast buffet. They also offer a season pass-holder's discount, which makes the hotel a tempting deal to those who frequent Squaw Valley. All the above would have been great features - if not for one huge deal breaker. We could not sleep one wink in this hotel with all the noise upstairs and in the adjacent rooms. Other Yelpers are right - they raised warnings about how the rooms walls and ceilings were paper thin - but I turned a blind eye to this valuable advice. In addition to the loud human movement noises, there was a structural squeak that occurred every 20 seconds throughout the night that was worse than a dripping faucet. If you choose to stay in PlumpJack, please heed this advice: First and foremost, request a room on the second floor. Most of the noise we experienced came from above, so following this simple rule may afford you a few extra ZZZ's. If you weren't able to obtain an upstairs room (or you have already arrived and are sleepy eyed from your first night's stay), I recommend the following passive contingencies: 1) Turn on the fan in the room. This will help provide you with some white noise that may help you sleep. 2) Get earplugs. 3) Keep the TV on at a low volume. This is probably the worst of the three options, but desperate times call for desperate measures.

Yelp
This place is super dog friendly. They provide food/water bowls and a large size dog bed for your best friend. They also have a wonderful complimentary breakfast in the morning. The rooms are very clean and nice and the facility provides free bikes and is eco friendly. We will definitely be coming back here for our next visit very soon.

Yelp
Although the location is great, Plumpjack Resort really wasn't worth the price paid. Cons: - The rooms had nice decor but were small. - There was a fan propped in the window, which was kind of tacky(Air conditioning would have been sufficient). - The bathroom only had a shower and no tub(If I had just spent a day on the slopes, I definitely would want a place I could soak in). - The pool and jacuzzi reminded me of something you would find at a Motel 6. Both were very small. Pros: - The restaurant was nice. It was a beautiful day and dining in the fresh mountain air was very pleasant. I had a Bleu Cheese Burger w/ garlic fries and my girlfriend had the Ahi Sandwich. Both were very good. We had a complimentary breakfast which was fresh, even though we showed up in the last 5 minutes. - The Bar was also nice. The Bartender made a good drink and was very attentive. - I would definitely say that the overall service was good and if the prices were more reasonable, I might give it another star. So lower your prices Mr. Newsom!

Yelp
My friend and I came here for lunch amist the loud chaos going on in the village for the Jazz, Funk and Beer Festival. We sat outside, surrounded by nice families. I had the Cobb Salad which was delicious, and I made my friend get the Balboa Burger, becasue that is one of my fav's, especially on a baguette! It was a nice experience, maybe this winter we will come for dinner or stay the weekend!
