"With an outdoor patio overlooking the Beaufort River, the vibe at Plums is casually coastal and so is the menu, with classic fried shrimp or oyster po’ boys, burgers, and other standards. But, locals know to dig more deeply into the offerings, including shrimp and grits, the signature Lowcountry gumbo, and delectable crab cakes." - Lynn and Cele Seldon

Always a great experience and well worth the wait! It's so good that it's hard to want to go try anywhere else out in town. I've had the shrimp burger, shrimp salad, and the founder PO boy. The flounder sandwich is absolutely top knotch and was executed perfectly. I don't think I'll ever get anything else there. Please keep motivating the cooks to pump out that quality of food.

I recommend Plum’s Restaurant in Beaufort, SC. The food is good quality at reasonable prices. The restaurant has dog-friendly seating in the patio area. The patio area is highly desirable on days of temperate weather. My wife requested the chicken salad plate but it had sold out by 1:00PM. She had the curried chicken salad which she said was excellent. I had the fried shrimp and an appetizer. It was good. The view from the patio was very nice.

Google
5 star experience! Our Half moon Cobb salad and the egg salad plate were delicious. The portions were great. The terrace view was wonderful! Service was prompt and friendly. We parked in the paid lot at the start of the block.

Google
The atmosphere was great they had incredible views of the river, the southern charm and ambience inside was all you could ask for. Then we get to the food, it was average at best. The chicken salad was extremely dry, the shrimp were a touch overcooked, and the appetizer we ordered never appeared. Service was slow both from the kitchen and the wait staff checking on our party. Would we go back, probably but I know what to expect this time.

We made reservations for the Sunday Supper Club and it was excellent! Family style jambalaya, potatoes & corn, etouffee, red beans & rice, crawfish, and brown sugar beignets for dessert. Everything was delicious. Our server was fantastic, too. Such a nice time talking to our table mates!

Okay, what follows is a long essay on "don't eat here" it's expensive and just not good. I'm sure this place used to be good, but the best way to explain it is "they don't serve Heinz or Hunts ketchup" it's food service grade, which trickles into other things. Bread on the sandwiches? Basic whole wheat sandwich bread. Not an issue unless you're paying $16 for a sandwich. Fries? Same thing as with the ketchup, definitely not worth the price. Service? Also horrible but not due to the fault of the staff. There was a lot of staff but management had them running around ineffectively. It seemed as though the normal staff were leaning heavily on summer teenage staff to do work, so the same girls for the host were also bussing tables. Then it took 30 min for our food to come out and the only cooked part was a burger. Everything else was chicken or shrimp salad. They then proceeded to send out a burger for another table with our order, but also say my chicken salad wasn't ready yet. How? Food? Just no. They were out of shrimp and grits. The chicken salad sandwich was bland, no flavor, only enough for half a sandwich. Shrimp salad sandwich was pretty good though. Not enough to go back.

Plums Restaurant, Downtown Beaufort, SC Warren’s Margarita took forever my food was delivered first. Thank god for the food server (didn’t catch her name she had short black hair)as she was able to get my margarita. The waitress Hailey was very friendly but not attentive at all. Service was not good it was the first I left a 10% tip. Tried to give the food server money but she wouldn’t accept. Fried Shrimp was not good and the batter tasted like bisquick no seasoning at all. The blackened shrimp was better still not seasoned up to par. The salad we requested the peach buttermilk balsamic we didn’t get that until the very end of our salad. Also never got the tartare sauce. The fried chicken in the Cobb salad was probably the best we had here. Overall I would say overpriced drinks, horrible service and mediocre food go to another restaurant. @plums.restaurant #beaufortsc #lowcountry #southcarolina #luvbft #lowcountrylife #sc #impossibletraveler #savannahgeorgia #savannahga #downtownbeaufort #usaroadtrip #visitusa #donjulio #tequila #downtownbeaufort #margarita #shrimp #lowcountry

We attended their Sunday night dinner tonight; crawfish boil. This is a great event. It is tavern style and we met so many nice people. The food was better than outstanding. For a reasonable price we got all you can eat crawfish, red beans and rice, jambalaya, potatoes, corn, fried okra, and donut jokes with pudding. Great service! Can’t wait for next Sunday.

Yelp
Great atmosphere out on the patio! Service was quick even though they were very busy. The soft shell crab was amazing. Looked like puppies were welcomed on the patio. Great view of the waterfront.

Yelp
Went here yesterday at 2:55 with my daughter and daughter in law. Was turned away because was told there was a 25 minute wait and they close at 4 and they wouldn't have time to serve us. Have never been before but was told by a friend who lives in Beaufort to go so tried. I think the girl just didn't want to wait on us and maybe wanted to go home at 4. Either way not a way to run a business, not like we were a big crowd and it might not have been a long wait who knows. Still not sure if I will come back or not, also since first time was not aware that you closed at 4. There also were a lot of tables open and servers standing around at the time we were there so didn't look that busy to us also no one behind us or in front waiting to get in. Just feel turning people away an hour before you close is a little to early.

Bobby S.

Yelp
Great venue right at the waterfront park. Service was excellent by Mel. Velvet had the egg salad sandwich. OK. She said it was great. SIL said salad was just OK. Supposed to have peaches which are in season here, but alas no peaches. Jimbob had a shrimp poorboy her said just good. I had the fried shrimp. Fresh but not cleaned properly. Gritty.

Maddie R.

Yelp
Today we stopped by for a late lunch. We checked in with the hostess who was super nice. She told us that the tables outside were on a longer wait than inside but we did not mind so we put our name on the waitlist. Shortly after checking in, our table was ready and we were seated outside. Our server arrived at our table shortly after being seated to take our drink orders. All of us ordered our meals and they arrived at the table very quickly which was awesome. No complaints with the food either. The quality and quantity of the plates were perfect! All of the items we ordered were fresh and delicious. We would definitely come back!

Carrie S.

Yelp
Went to dinner for date night. Services wasn't the best but they seemed a little under staffed for the unexpected rush when we got there. The food was excellent especially the Gouda Mac and cheese

Kim L.

Yelp
We had been to Plums last year, and it was so good we wanted to go again. Of note was the gumbo - and it was soooo good. We tasted a great rose, some local beer and shrimp salad with dill. Our server was Christie - she was a hoot and made the meal with her comments, we truly appreciated her insights. We ate outside, and it was a bit chilly but all good!

Heather D.

Yelp
We were a party of 4 for dinner, and we enjoyed sitting outside with a view of the water. The host and server were incredibly sweet and helpful with suggestions. The pimento dip was one of the best we've had. The gumbo was quite flavorful. We liked the menu variety.

Leena S.

Yelp
Plums is perfectly situated with a waterfront view. The place was packed for Saturday afternoon lunch. We opted for the outdoor seating area, which required a 15-20 minute wait. I ordered the Curried Chicken Salad Plate and my husband got the Shrimp Po-Boy. I thought the Chicken Salad was very flavorful and tasty, the husband was lukewarm on his Po Boy. Our server was wonderful. She was very pleasant and friendly. Overall, Plums is a nice scenic spot for lunch or dinner in Beaufort.

Aly W.

Yelp
Such a great spot for lunch in downtown Beaufort. We've been enough times that we've tried a good bit of the menu. We love that they have indoor and outdoor seating! My favorite app is the fried shrimp. Delicious! Favorite lunch item: the Biarritz sandwich. They also have great specials! The bar isn't huge but has everything you could want. The vibe is low key and relaxed. Our service has always been wonderful. Overall Plum's is reliable for a delicious meal. Don't forget to visit their sister restaurants: Hearth (pizza) and Saltus (upscale).

Daniel P.

Yelp
Stopped by for just cocktails at the bar and chef Ryann came out describing these amazing specials so we had to try them. Every time we have had dinner it's been fantastic . If you haven't tried it you need to and definitely try the chef specials

Deborah W.

Yelp
Fine American restaurant with outdoor and indoor service. Ordered classic Rueben sandwiches with kettle chips and pickle. Service was slow but helpful since it was crowded. Handicap accessible. Great atmosphere outside and enjoyed the bay views.

Victoria S.

Yelp
Very disappointing !!! Service was ok to good, Our server tried his best, but we kept getting our food late. I wanted the shrimp and grits but they ran out of it on a beautiful Friday night and it was only 6:30pm. Menu is very limited, we tried the specials for the night of Fried Conch fritters which were tough to eat, the lamb tacos was just ok, And caterpillars kept coming on to me or the table! We should have opened the umbrella to deflect them! The lady on our neighboring table also was surprised at the 3 Caterpillar (uninvited) guests. They have 2 restrooms (unisex) , but only one was working. (Not desirable) If you only want burgers, then this ok, but plenty of other choices around. They are waterfront view and that was the only item that was positive.

Michael I.

Yelp
Very busy but service was quick. Loved the food chosen. So impressed with back the next day. Again very pleased with service and food.

Maribeth K.

Yelp
We went to the "Sunday Supper Club" dinner last night (5:30pm seating; there is also a 7:30pm seating) and were so very glad we did! The dinner is served family style, and evidently the menu will change week to week (so watch their social media!). It's a fixed price, and reservations are made via OpenTable. We were at a table with another couple and enjoyed making some new friends while we enjoyed a fantastic meal! The food was absolutely delicious (and plentiful!!). Biscuits, fried chicken, Brussel sprouts, collards, mashed potatoes and gravy, sweet potatoes, Mac and cheese, cucumber salad ... and yummy banana pudding. The staff was super friendly, and we enjoyed talking with the chef about is plans for the Sunday dinners. We will definitely be back! Thank you, Plums, for a wonderful Sunday dinner!

Robert A.

Yelp
This is possibly the best eatery in Beaufort. Lowcountry cuisine prepared to perfection either a great water view on the porch. Highly recommended

Heather N.

Yelp
I wish I could give zero stars. Food was TERRIBLE... Did not clean the shrimp and quality of food was awful. But that was nothing compared to the service. THE WORST. Who is running this place?!?!? Our server had a huge party on top of a full station and NO ONE was helping her! The manager and every other waitress was simply strolling around without a care in the world. We saw our food just sit and sit and sit in the window and every single person ignored it. Who runs a restaurant like that?! Do yourself a favor and steer clear.

Jorge L.

Yelp
We stopped by for a quick bite to eat, we were seated quickly by the hostess up front, which was nice and easy for us. We were accommodated nicely at a booth by the hostess since we had our 3 month baby. We ordered some local favorites from the menu, which were complimented nicely by some refreshing drinks by the bartender. However, our waitress was not up to par with the overall experience of this restaurant. I asked a question in regard to one of the menu items, in which resulted to being laughed at by the waitress as a joke of my intellectual capability regarding a common food question. Also, we also witnessed her sipping wine/ drink from a glass at the bar top, which was highly inappropriate and unprofessional. I've never left any negative reviews about restaurants or business, since I'm a support local restaurants and shops type of guy, but this type of behavior and attitude had to be addressed. In case anyone was wondering who our waitress was her name was Metzi or something of that sort, she's average height and has short black hair with tattoos. If you have her as a waitress, my strong recommendation is to ask for another or be prepared for the same experience.

Megan E.

Yelp
AMAZING lunch after a day visiting hunting island. The views were great, got to sit on a heated patio, and service was fast and thorough. Our server Nelly was so sweet and helpful. Loved the peach vinaigrette on my side salad, made in house. Must stop in while downtown Beaufort. Forgot to take a picture of the key lime pie but you HAVE to get it too.

Yelp
Plums is a charming casual spot to grab lunch and drinks with a great view of the river in downtown Beaufort in a historic setting. It's beautiful in this area, if you are visiting Charleston, it's about an hour and a half from there and worth the drive. For starters I ordered the Lowcountry gumbo, it was pretty good gumbo. Tasted completely unique unlike any other gumbo I have tried before. The consistency of the roux was pretty thick, almost like a chowder with a tomato base. The acidity of the tomato was there, paired with the okra it was really good. I enjoyed it! For my meal, I ordered a shrimp po' boy, it was delicious! It came on a half sandwich, the bread was fresh, thick but soft - a little toast on it would've gone a long way in terms of being able to eat it. It was hard to get a good bite, I found myself eating the shrimp by itself but the remoulade on the bread with the freshly caught breaded shrimp was a treat! I traded the potato chips for a side salad. Service was great, our waitress was tentative and our drinks and food were flowing at a great pace. Metered street parking in this area.

Rebecca M.

Yelp
I was disappointed with my experience at Plums. They did have a sign stating that they were understaffed but they didn't appear to be understaffed. I do not think they were utilizing the employees correctly and giving each a section rather than having them working all over the restaurant. The restaurant had indoor and outdoor seating. I chose indoor but would have had a different waitress had I chosen outdoor. Mine was forgetful and disorganized not just with me but the other tables too. She'd forget to bring the drink orders. I have a feeling she forgot to put my order in as two other tables that arrived much later got their food before me. She also kept disappearing for long stretches of time. I never got a refill after asking for one 30 minutes before I got the check as I could tell she was not attentive enough to know to bring around refills like the other staff were doing for their tables. I didn't think she was ever going to come and take care of the check so luckily I had cash on me. I ordered the shrimp salad BLT sandwich and substituted fries for the chips. The fries were great as was the BLT part but the shrimp salad wasn't as good as I had hoped. Plums wouldn't get a return visit from me.

Samita T.

Yelp
Nice outdoor seating. Great service. The food is alright. It's quite pricey. But you're paying for location.

Lucia W.

Yelp
I changed my review the manager reached out and took care of the problem and I am gonna give them another try

Herb K.

Yelp
Went there for the first time today. We had the shrimp po-boy and the blue cheese and caramelized onion burger. The po-boy was loaded with fresh tasting shrimp and served on a baguette which is the only way to serve one IMO. The burger was very tasty but could have used more blue cheese and onion. Great service by Mellie. It was a good experience and we will definitely be back.

John P.

Yelp
Food was excellent and fresh. Chicken salad sandwich had no fillers all whit meat. Shrimp salad with fresh fruit was really perfect for summer. Server was friendly and quick with the drinks and bill. Sat on the porch of an historic house with the dog; very cool.

B S.

Yelp
We loved the shrimp and grits. Also, loved the shrimp burger with potato salad. Sat on the porch which was nice.

Brittney T.

Yelp
We ate outside. The weather was nice. Everyone enjoyed their food. The shrimp was so amazing.

Rhonda F.

Yelp
Plums location is what keeps this place busy. The nice outdoor seating area faced the grassy area and waterfront. There wasn't any real decor to speak of, but the location itself was the artwork I suppose. We had to wait for our table but was told they would text us - and they did. There were 2 tables available once they were cleaned. The hostess cleaned and brought us to the table next to the busser's area next to the stair. Dishes and cleaning supplies were directly next to the table. We asked to wait until the other table was ready that she was going to clean it next. She seemed irritated and threw her towel down on the table in a huff. But luckily we were able to sit in the corner and not next to cleaning rags. Our server was fantastic. She was so pleasant and friendly. She knew the menu well and remained attentive during our entire visit. The food took a long time to come out so between waiting for our table and then waiting for the food, our lunch was an all afternoon affair. We all loved what we ordered. Everything was fresh and tasty. I can't say there was anything that blew us away but we certainly enjoyed our salads and sandwiches. I feel like Plums is a great spot to try when you first visit Beaufort. But I think I will try other places on my next stop into town.

Laurel F.

Yelp
This was the best lunch - maybe ever! We had the best service (Brittany), the food was amazing and the view was breathtaking. Can't wait to go again!

Mike J.

Yelp
Plums is a awesome place to eat and relax. The staff are always smiling and doing what they can to help you. I eat there once a week enjoy every time Kim is an awesome bartender and that helps tremendously when relaxing.!

Tony D.

Yelp
Just a quick trip from Hilton Head Plums offers a great lunch location. The food and service were both great but sitting on the outdoor deck near the waterfront was spectacular.

Thad R.

Yelp
Great service in an outside waterfront location with quick food turn around. Will suggest to all

Jake A.

Yelp
Had the Fried Oyster Po Boi and loved it. Decent portions, lots of tourists but the service was still exceptional. Overall it was a a busy but relaxed experience and the price was worth it.

Keith D.

Yelp
One if our fans when in Beaufort. Usually eat in. I would suggest it. Had to order at the bar for take out. The bar tender ignored my wife and son. I was sick in the hotel. We decided on Plums because of our outstanding visits. The bar tender took our order and did not say one word. My She Crab soup was outstanding. My son's sandwich was missing ingredients. My wife's salad was ok. If you are eating in definitely eat here. If you are irderingvgyo go "FORGET ABOUT IT!!"

Laura B.

Yelp
It was very slow but the food was well worth the wait. Service was good. We had the Gouda sandwich and a turkey and bacon wrap with a strawberry Mayo. Highly recommend both! The potato salad was also very tasty. Will go again the next time I'm in town when I have more time to lounge and to take advantage of their delicious sounding cocktails.

Phillip F.

Yelp
I was so happy to have checked this place out. Great food with a beautiful view of the river was perfect for my wife and I on a chilly afternoon. Sandwiches were delicious and somewhat original. My wife enjoyed her Shrimp BLT and I really liked my "So-Gouda", smoked turkey, smoked Gouda, cheese and Mango Chutney on grilled bread. Will make sure to visit again.

Chelcie R.

Yelp
What an amazing meal! The view on the back patio was absolutely ideal! Food, view, service and was spectacular. I wish this spot was open for dinner and we would've eaten here for dinner as well! We will be back here. This is a must try! Oh and they do homemade dressings! The pimento cheese tasted house made as well.

Kolby J.

Yelp
Ate here again and I remember what I got the first time because I got it again. The shrimp po boy is really good. My mom was in and thats her favorite type of poboy. We both got it and she said it was one of the best she's had. The sauce makes it. The smoked Mac n cheese is some of the better Mac and cheeses you'll get. My wife got the grilled turkey sandwich. It was really good the first time she had it, but the waitress failed to tell her that they didn't have the usual rye bread for it, and had to use regular. So it wasn't near as good and wasn't cooked long enough this time. We heard the manager tell her that they were out of the bread, but she didn't inform us. That kinda sucked. Haha. My dad got one of the salads, (I didn't pay attention which one because that's rabbit food) it looked good. My middle child got the tenders and they were really good for restaurant kids tenders. My only complaints I have and the two everyone else had at the table was; the fries are some of the most bland fries known to man and the dill dip is almost tasteless. I love the location of the restaurant as it's a great place to take kids. While waiting on food you can go out back and explore along the river and make your way to the playground. Before you know it, the food is ready and you can take the little monsters back inside to eat.

Kevin R.

Yelp
Only reason this wasn't a 5* review is my wife's curry chicken sandwich was on some plain Jane flaccid bread. My son's burger and fries were excellent as was the soft shell crab poboy I had. Atmosphere was great and the breeze near the door was excellent. Only issue were a few flies because of the open doors. Will definitely come back for more the next time I'm in town.

Joshua K.

Yelp
The location is perfectly positioned in downtown beaufort, SC on the main waterfront walkway and has outdoor seating! The service was very good, they were quite busy, but, the staff had checked in multiple times and made sure that any needs were provided for. The food was good and matched our expectations based on price. The Shrimp and Grits were absolutely fantastic, the picture may look messy, but, this was by far the best tasting version of the dish that I have had. The curry sandwich was just ok, but, the flounder po-boy was quite good too. Overall a good experience. Definitely recommended!

Roger G.

Yelp
We were too hungry to take pictures for everything we had was very very delicious. Gumbo soup is out of this world you have to try it if you come here. We looked at a few restaurants downtown and settled in on this one originally looking for eggs and breakfast but wound up getting burgers gumbo soup and potato salad. Potato salad dessert is world I like I said the gumbo is unbelievable. Burgers for cooked right everything is fresh beautiful scenery overlooking the bay and the waitress was super friendly. Can't wait to come back home To this nice quiet tranquil cool setting sitting out back on the open porch. Ps: Courtney was our waitress and she did a great job very friendly and attentive

Kari M.

Yelp
Wow!!! Great scenery and delicious food! My dad got the shrimp and grits and my husband and I shared gumbo and shrimp salad blt. Absolutely delicious! We will be back!

Shawn P.

Yelp
If I could give zero I would . Don't know what all the hype is about this place but it, must be the location. Got the blue cheese burger which were store bought Pattie's thrown on the grill and seasoned then over cooked. If you want a good crafted burger I recommend fat Pattie's. My wife got the shrimp salad which was a scoop put on one large lettuce leaf surrounded by a lot of fruit on the side. Hmm if you want a good shrimp salad go to panini's. On a good note our waitress gets four stars , she was polite, attentive .

Kylie T.

Yelp
One of these servers was so rude and just ugly to me and my family on our very first visit here! I told the manager and ten minutes after she said she "fixed the issue , as we were leaving through the front entrance I hear the manager and that same employee talking about me and laughing about the situation . Apparently they are good friends . A cook from there I was speaking to heard the conversation as well . He advised me to call the "real manager" the following Monday . I just refused to go back . Can not believe this is how their customer service is! You never have a second chance to make a first impression!

Brian B.

Yelp
The service... The Oysters... Without the two above this one lace would have been a zero! The mistake I believe I made was not ordering a burger. The appearance of this country lace is simple and the atmosphere is chill so take my advice and order the same way. Stay away from the pasta, and I wasn't feeling the crab hush puppies at all they were over cooked and tasteless so please look past them. And the kicker of my disappointment is they have a signature drink with Plums and they were all out!!! What?!?!? I just don't get it. Well I may go back to try a burger but likely not. I'm all plumed out.

Liz S.

Yelp
We had a great visit this last time. The shrimp Po boy w remoulade and the side peach vinagerette salad. Our server- I hate I don't remember her name!- was patient and friendly and apologetic about the wait. We weren't in a rush so didn't mind. It was cold outside but that was our choice- maybe some heat lamps in the future! Everyone had a great meal with great service.

Katie S.

Yelp
Slightly fried Flounder Po Boy, for $11.95, say no more. I subbed the kettle chips for a side salad - the entire meal was delicious! The piece of flounder was definitely generous and overflowed the bread. If I'm ever back in Beaufort, this will be my only stop.

Connie S.

Yelp
Great food, great service from our server Jenny, fab cocktails and a view from the back porch that can't be beat!

Ginny H.

Yelp
disappointing service where we had to wait for our check. a line for the only one working restroom. while outside seating has nice views, we sat inside.

Melissa G.

Yelp
Best things first: The location is super convenient and the patio has amazing views of the water. The service was cordial and professional and overall we had a good time. The not so great : The food was more on the disappointing side. I ordered a flounder po-boy and a side of french fries. The sandwich was just a-ok. The bread was not toasted and was disappointing. The french fries were your standard frozen fries with no salt and therefore no flavor or anything to offer other than starch. At least the sauce on the po-boy was good, but I walked out a bit disappointed.
