We stayed here over the weekend and had quite a mixed experience. The staff we interacted with were all really friendly and helpful – especially the gentleman who checked us in on Thursday evening. Unfortunately, he was the only one working at the time, which meant we waited around 30 minutes just to check in. When we finally got to our room, it absolutely stank – the smell was unbearable and honestly made it unliveable. Thankfully, the same staff member was kind and understanding, and he moved us to another room straight away, though it ended up taking about an hour to sort everything out.
The room itself was fine, however, it would have been great if we were provided padlocks for the lockers so we could leave our belongings securely.
The facilities themselves were pretty good, and the location is excellent – close to everything and ideal for travellers. However, the hostel felt understaffed, especially over the weekend, which made everything slower and more stressful than it needed to be. The common room was also far too small for the number of guests, and it was frustrating to be told it was the only place we could eat or drink our own food after being asked to move from the TV area.
Overall, it’s a decent spot with friendly staff and good amenities, but for what we paid, the long wait times, lack of space, and the room issue really took away from the experience. With better staffing levels and some improvements to the communal areas, it could be a much better place to stay.
