A large 24/7 mass-market multi-storey hostel with impersonal and bureaucratic approach to guests.
I came to Florence quite late to stay overnight and catch a morning flight, so all I needed was to smoothly check in, have a beer, go to sleep and quickly get out in the morning.
The location is convenient and you can get to the train station, airport or the very centre within 15-20 minutes, plus the reception is opened non-stop, so you can be on your own schedule.
Aaand, that's where the pros end. The check-in at almost 11pm went through reasonably okay, but trying to leave in the morning was a hurdle. I wanted to drop off the entry card and just leave, but the staff stopped me and made me wait in the queue for 5 minutes - after which they took the card and let me go immediately anyway. What the hell, seriously? Unprofessional, unnecessary and almost made me miss my connection to the airport.
Secondly, everything is grossly overpriced. It's unusual to pay almost €50 per a bunk bed (shared room for 8) on the edge of the tourist season. The small bottled beers cost €4, they ask for extra surcharges for anything you may need, etc.
The rooms themselves are also below average - very crowded with the metal bunk beds that are super cheap, uncomfortable mattresses and very wobbly. The good thing is the rooms have their own bathroom and a shower, working A/C and a power point at the bed.
If I had a chance, I would avoid this place.
