Terrible experience! The owner(s) need to know who they have running their restaurant. Shayla is the manager. We live in the neighborhood and loved the food the first time we went. This was our third time going there and each time the service was extremely slow because of being short staffed. The restaurant was busy yesterday and there was only one server, of course. She could not keep up. I asked for extra silverware; I never got it. I asked for a glass for water, didn't get it until I walked up to the bar 30 minutes later. I asked the manager for a glass, and she just looked at the server, instead of just giving me a glass herself. The manager was just standing around and never helped. When it came down to ordering our food, my friend ordered menudo (which they had listed on their sidewalk sign). We were never told they did not have it. The food for the rest of the table came after a 40-minute wait, and my friend was never served. The server never said anything; she just walked away. We figured she was bringing the menudo next and waited a good 20 minutes. I then got up and asked her where the menudo was, and she looked confused. She said she needed to go to the kitchen and ask. She comes back 5 minutes later saying there is no menudo. "So, you weren't going to say anything and leave a customer sitting there with no food", I said. She never apologized, just asked if she wanted to order something else. So, we asked for a Barbacoa taco, and she said they can't make a Barbacoa taco, even though one of our orders was the Barbacoa plate, hmmm. Ok, then bring a Brisket taco, I guess. The taco took 25 minutes for her to bring to the table. When it came down to the check, I asked if they were going to comp the Brisket taco for the error on their part, and the server said she needed to talk to the manager. I said, "Yes please do." She came back to the table saying her manager said no because the taco was consumed. I told her to call her manager to the table. The manager comes with a nasty look on her face and I tell her the situation and that we shouldn't be charged for the taco, it's just a taco. She then tells me, "Exactly, it's just a taco and it was eaten." Then she says the server told her she had told us that there wasn't menudo from the beginning. That was a flat out lie. I couldn't believe her attitude. She would rather argue with the customer than make things right. I told her to just bring me the check and that I would be writing a Google review about this experience, and she just said, "Fine" and walked off. The server then comes with the check and just drops it on the table. When I looked at the check, they had taken the taco off the bill. It was too late by that time. They never apologized. We've spent $100-$200 each time we've been there and will NEVER RETURN AGAIN. We've told so many people about the food but now I'll be spreading the word about the horrible service. Don't waste your time or money at this place. There are plenty of other places with good food and that would appreciate your business.
