Poblano Pepper Mexican Grill

Family styled Mexican restaurant with reasonable price tag. Came here for dinner on a Wednesday. Ordered a taco platter and a few additional tacos on the side. The quality of the food was pretty decent. If you are looking for some good Mexican food without breaking the bank and a family friendly environment, this is the place for you.

Wow!! Such amazing food and the service was INCREDIBLE!! The guy up at the front was incredibly sweet. The food came out so quickly I didn’t even get my water yet. The music made my entire family and friends also want to dance. I included the pictures of my food. They’re not beautiful because I absolutely destroyed my meal, which should give you an indication of how incredible it was. I had plenty of leftovers!! 5/5!!

The food was excellent, sauces nice, smooth, and full of flavor. The atmosphere is casual/resort feel. The artwork is nice to look at. Very friendly staff. If I lived here, it would be my regular spot. Only got the street tacos, but if they're this good, I can only imagine the rest.

Found this place when they were just a food truck off NE Halsey.. however, tonight I got off late and wanted a bean burrito.. the food trucks were closed and they closed in 12 minutes.. I normally don’t do this, but I called to ask.. a bean burrito is easy.. and they were so gracious and happy to make my burrito. I tipped them 100% (cause that’s what you do when you order at closing time), and now I’m enjoying my food. 👌👌 Absolutely amazing service and great food!

This place has incredible tasting food. I lOVE how they have a separate menu for us vegans/vegetarians. They not only have a variety of options but i have to say, they are delicious. The mushroom epazote burrito is very unique from all the other Mexican restaurants as it’s probably the only one I’ve tried with an authentic Mexican taste because of the epazote. It’s definitely a must try because of the authentic flavors. The rest of the vegan/vegetarian menu is also just as good!

My wife, son, and I visited this restaurant randomly because it was empty at the time, likely due to being summer vacation for Portland State students. It was reasonably priced and the food was excellent. A nice surprise for a last minute food decision. We had the carne asada burritos and tacos.

Fast and friendly service. They have spicy sauces for those who like some heat to their food. Loved that the menu has a vegetarian and vegan options and house made tortillas and horchata.

I am so happy to have found this place. The food here is so fresh and authentic that I keep coming back for more. I've ordered take out three times and plan on coming back again. They have one of the best breakfast burritos I've ever had. Their vegetarian options are great! Especially the mushroom and spinach quesadilla. Of course the meat option are also highly recommended. The only issue i have is that their flour tortillas are garlic or spinach flavored. There is no plain tortilla. Otherwise it wonderful. Check them out. You'll be happy you did!

I rarely eat Mexican food so I'm really not an expert in judging it's authenticity or quality. However, I certainly know when I enjoy a meal and when I don't. Unfortunately this meal fell into the latter category. I ordered several items delivered on GH so I can't speak as to the service or ambience, only the food. Im vegetarian so I was pleased to see several veggie options on the menu. I ordered two veggie tacos, a veggie burrito, the veggie enchiladas verde and the veggie enchiladas mole. Their takeaway containers are not divided into sections so everything slid together on its ride to me. My friend enjoyed his burrito but the other items were disappointing. The enchiladas and tacos were filled with sautéed strips of onion and green pepper only. There weren't any other veggies or even cheese to hold it all together. The beans and rice were bland. A more diverse mix of veggies cut into smaller pieces would have made things better. Included in our bag were 10 tiny containers of two different hot sauce that ranged from burn your tongue to flaming esophagus. These went into the trash quickly. A little mild salsa would have been far better. A lot of folks seem to enjoy Poblano Pepper so try it for yourself. My favorite Mexican place is still Allen's.

Food truck across from the Oregon Convention Year. I ordered the carne asada bowl. It was delicious! Came with 2 toys of sauce. One was quite spicy but delicious. My only complaint was that they had Pepsi products instead of Coke. Service was fast.

I've been coming here since they opened and it is consistently amazing! The workers are kind and the food always comes out quickly. Today we chose to eat in the car but usually we stay and eat in the restaurant. It has lots of natural light , plants & colorful decor! I love this place and whenever I am by PSU I make sure to stop by and grab a bite !!

Stumbled upon this place while walking around Portland. When I got there, there was nobody inside which is surprising. The mole poblano burrito is a MUST try. The mole is an amazing blend of sweet, chocolately, and well spiced. You will definitely be full after eating one. It's a great deal and great flavor. Definitely check it out!

A very solid Mexican spot, relatively new. They're pretty bustling during lunch. Not too many selections but definitely enough; they focused mainly on burritos and tacos. I enjoyed the Mole Al Pastor Burrito. Completely covered in mole, the burrito was full of meat and rice. A hefty meal but very good for the heart.

Great food, everything we've tasted has been great. Their mushroom epazote burrito is my favorite dish out of any mexican restaurant I've visited. Appreciate how there is a nice vegan variety. Their dishes are very filling, with very generous servings and all of the employees I interacted with are extremely friendly. Got to know them through their food truck but like their expanded variety at their restaurant.

Don't do it! You'll be sorry!! Ordered 2 plates via grubhub with special instructions due to a food allergy. They shorted the order only delivering 1/2 of order and what did arrive had to be thrown away due to them not following instructions and leaving the prohibited food on the plate. When calling the restaurant, they hung up on my grubhub driver and me, then calling back with a different phone they refused to fix it and wouldn't give her name when I requested. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE

So any place I go to I usually order carne asada burrito or quesadilla but I was intrigued by the mushroom quesadilla. I have to say this worked amazingly well and was quite tasty. The service was good and the environment of the restaurant was very open and VERY CLEAN. I absolutely love this place and will definitely be going back. Also as a side note, they give you both salsas as seen in the back of the photo and just know both are spicy lol. I loved using them for my food but just be aware they have a nice kick to them.

2nd Visit The breakfast burrito menu on the window facing the sidewalk is different than the one behind the counter. This caused some confusion and ultimately a wrong order. Furthermore, the incorrect burrito wasn't wrapped properly so all the ingredients fell out after a few bites. The premium price fish taco was a big disappointment especially because it's topped with soggy iceberg lettuce. Lastly, there were limited bottles of hotsauce for those dining there. Overall, a bad experience unlike the first. 1st Visit The tacos are a cut-above as the tortillas are homemade, you can taste the difference. The carnitas was excellent, the veggie so-so; and that latter cost more which is odd. Refried beans seem to vary from place to place, here they're not watery. Taste and texture were okay. You get an ample portion for a good price. Too bad they don't offer the Chile Relleno other than as a burrito. And it would be great if there were more taco options. The hot sauce was also better than average, the orange one packs some heat. Service was friendly and they bring you the food. No stupid QR code, kiosk menu, or bussing your own table.

Carmelize, crispy carnitas + homemade corn tortillas = flavor sensation! Topped with chopped onion, fresh cilantro and lime, served piping hot and freshly made to order, these tacos are legit! Wow! After visiting the location at Bite on Belmont, I was thrilled to discover they had a brick & mortar location close to my hood. Definitely some of the best Mexican food in Portland, everything is fresh and flavorful. Their creamy avocado hot sauce is delicious and i Want to put it on everything. Especially the breakfast burrito. Inside is clean, bright, lots of natural light with a window facing street. Plenty of simple tables and chairs if you want to eat there. Service is friendly. Yay!

This establishment truly has authentic, and quality Mexican food! I was planning on just getting chipotle tonight, but I've walked by this place multiple times and wanted to try it out finally - Simply put, it did not disappoint. The person working was very friendly and let me take my time ordering what I wanted to eat. I asked him a few questions about the menu, and then ultimately decided on their Carne Asada Burrito, Breakfast Burrito, Chicken Taco, and a Pastor Taco - it was all incredible! The prices were actually reasonable for the quantity of food I received too. I was going in here PLANNING on buying a good amount of food since I wanted to try multiple things since it was my first time here. They got it out to me for a to go order in under 8 min as well, which was great to see. The food was very good and I didn't even get a chance to take pictures of it all because I ate it all too quickly! Would highly recommend this in the downtown Portland area and I will for sure be back!

Hearty tacos! Spicy sauces and sweet guava drinks. The staff super friendly and helpful. Can't wait to come back.

Either forgot or didn't make half my order, refused to refund or make the missing items for me to pick up. Called them when I realized the error and they claimed they could not find record of my order, despite me having a receipt and providing the order number. Frustrating customer service.

Great food! I used to go to the previous restaurant "Tito's" and was sad when it closed. But now I've been loving this place even more! I've had the carne Asada tacos and the bacon breakfast burrito and 10/10. My only note is the meat was a little dry in the tacos but they give you sauces and toppings that make up for it. Also the new owners + staff is super nice every time I come in, regardless what time of day it is. Also they changed the decor from the previous owners and I personally really like it!

Another hidden gym! This was some of thee best Mexican food I've had in a long time. My daughter had chicken taco platter and I had Enchiladas Verdes. 10 out of 10. We'll definitely be back!

This is a great place for authentic Mexican cuisine. They also have excellent breakfast burritos as well. The interior is very nice and new, and there is a nice window out front to the street.

Went here for lunch in between classes! I was pleasantly surprised with how affordable the tacos are, especially for their size ! The guy who took my order was very friendly, and my food came out very fast. Overall this place is super cute, I love the vibes. I especially like the windows and bright aesthetic in here. I ordered the tofu vegan tacos, and they are very tasty !!

I stumbled across their mobile food truck walking home from PSU like 7 years ago and haven't found better burritos since They are always super friendly and haven't messed up my order once, which is impressive as that happens all the time with other places! They're probably the only reason I come into Portland anymore.

I cannot believe at how incredible this place is. They have the absolute best Mexican in the downtown area. Heck, it's the best Mexican I've ever had. I truly mean that. It was a shame that Tito's Burrito's is gone and have been replaced by Poblano Pepper, but honestly, I think Poblano Pepper is better! The staff here is very friendly, the food is rich in flavor, and it's pipping hot and has some of the best flavors I've ever had. Do not skip on the Carne Asada burrito. In fact, anything you order will be incredible. Absolutely give this place a try! :)

Definitely the best Mexican place downtown. I had the taco plate with carne asada and pastor. Both meats were perfectly seasoned and the asada had a great sear on it. The beans and rice were clearly fresh and made an excellent side. The salsas were great, habañero had some real kick to it. To top it all off, their tortillas appeared to be made in-house-- slightly fluffy and held up well to folding/the weight of the contents.

Great enchiladas. I've struggled with finding great enchiladas after living for 25+ years in Texas and New Mexico. Best enchiladas we've had in PDX. Nice worker and cool ambiance too.

Really friendly service. Delicious tacos. Good spot for a working lunch. I think they use handmade tortillas, which are large and really good. String recommend.

Poblano Pepper sent a truck to our street fair and it was fantastic. Everyone loved the food and the owners were very easy to communicate with prior to the event.

Family owned business with fantastic service and food that consistently satisfies. I usually get the wet burrito and it's delicious. To-go orders are done quickly and every time I dine in with friends we have a lot of good laughs. Thank you!

First time eating at this restaurant. Everyone in our party had an awesome experience. Tacos, quesadilla, and torta were all fantastic. Food was warm and staff was friendly. Great music playlist. Clean and updated dining area with fun decor. Looking forward to come back.

Absolutely amazing!!! the food is delicious, the customer service is superb. I always tell my friends who visit PDX about this place. Once you enter the door, you will be taken care of i highly recommend their nachos :)

Really good Mexican food. The service is fast and friendly. The dining area has carved Mexican furniture, and is very appealing. My carnitas taco plate had a large portion of delicious meat, and tortillas that looked and tasted like hand made served on a Talavera plate. The beans were especially tasty. My husband's taquito dinner was attractively presented and just what he wanted.
